In this note, certain generalisations of strongly regular rings are considered in connection with regular rings andV-rings. The result that strongly regular rings are left (and right)V-rings [11] is extended. A condition for prime leftV-rings to be primitive with non-zero socle is given (this is related to a question ofFisher [7, Problem 3]. IfA is an ALD (almost left duo) ring, then (1) a simple leftA-module is injective iff it isp-injective; (2)A is von Neumann regular iff every maximal essential right ideal ofA isf-injective. Characterisations of semi-simple Artinian and simple Artinian rings are given in terms of regular andV-rings.  相似文献

Let R be a ring. An R-module X is called c-injective if, for every closed submodule L of every R-module M, every homomorphism from L to X lifts to M. It is proved that if R is a Dedekind domain then an R-module X is c-injective if and only if X is isomorphic to a direct product of homogeneous semisimple R-modules and injective R-modules. It is also proved that a commutative Noetherian domain R is Dedekind if and only if every simple R-module is c-injective.  相似文献

Abstract

A theorem of Cartan-Eilenberg (Cartan, H., Eilenberg, S. (1956). Homological Algebra. Princeton: Princeton University Press, pp. 390.) states that a ring Ris right Noetherian iff every injective right module is Σ-incentive. The purpose of this paper is to study rings with the property, called right CSI, that, all cyclic right R-modules have Σ-injective hulls, i.e., injective hulls of cyclic right R-modules are Σ-injective. In this case, all finitely generated right R-modules have Σ-injective hulls, and this implies that Ris right Noetherian for a lengthy list of rings, most notably, for Rcommutative, or when Rhas at most finitely many simple right R-modules, e.g., when Ris semilocal. Whether all right CSIrings are Noetherian is an open question. However, if in addition, R/rad Ris either right Kasch or von Neuman regular (=VNR), or if all countably generated (sermisimple) right R-modules have Σ-injective hulls then the answer is affirmative. (See Theorem A.) We also prove the dual theorems for Δ-injective modules.  相似文献

It is known that a ring R is left Noetherian if and only if every left R-module has an injective (pre)cover. We show that (1) if R is a right n-coherent ring, then every right R-module has an (n, d)-injective (pre)cover; (2) if R is a ring such that every (n, 0)-injective right R-module is n-pure extending, and if every right R-module has an (n, 0)-injective cover, then R is right n-coherent. As applications of these results, we give some characterizations of (n, d)-rings, von Neumann regular rings and semisimple rings.  相似文献

This paper investigates the structure of cyclically pure (or C-pure) projective modules. In particular, it is shown that a ring R is left Noetherian if and only if every C-pure projective left R-module is pure projective. Also, over a left hereditary Noetherian ring R, a left R-module M is C-pure projective if and only if M = NP, where N is a direct sum of cyclic modules and P is a projective left R-module. The relationship C-purity with purity and RD-purity are also studied. It is shown that if R is a local duo-ring, then the C-pure projective left R-modules and the pure projective left R-modules coincide if and only if R is a principal ideal ring. If R is a left perfect duo-ring, then the C-pure projective left R-modules and the pure projective left R-modules coincide if and only if R is left Köthe (i.e., every left R-module is a direct sum of cyclic modules). Also, it is shown that for a ring R, if every C-pure projective left R-module is RD-projective, then R is left Noetherian, every p-injective left R-module is injective and every p-flat right R-module is flat. Finally, it is shown that if R is a left p.p-ring and every C-pure projective left R-module is RD-projective, then R is left Noetherian hereditary. The converse is also true when R is commutative, but it does not hold in the noncommutative case.  相似文献

A ringA is left co-Noetherian if the injective hull of each simple leftA-module is Artinian. Such rings have been studied by Vámos and Jans. Dually, callA left co-Artinian if the injective hull of each simple leftA-module is Noetherian. Left co-Artinian rings having only finitely many nonisomorphic simple left modules are studied, and such rings are shown to have nilpotent radical. Moreover, it is shown that left co-Artinian implies left co-Noetherian ifA/J is Artinian. For an injective leftA-module A Q withB=End ( A Q), andC=End (Q B ), conditions yielding a Morita duality between and are obtained. In special cases, e.g. A Q a self-cogenerator, this Morita duality yields chain conditions on A Q. Specialized to commutative rings, these results give the known fact that every commutative co-Artinian ring is co-Noetherian. Finally in the case that the injective hull A E=E( A S) of a simple leftA-module A S is a self-cogenerator, chain conditions on A E are related to chain conditions onB B =End ( A E). The results obtained are analogous to results for commutative rings of Vámos, Rosenberg and Zelinsky. It is shown that ifA is a left co-Artinian ring withE( A S) a self-cogenerator for each simple A S, thenJ is nil and .  相似文献

We characterize left Noetherian rings in terms of the duality property of injective preenvelopes and flat precovers. For a left and right Noetherian ring R, we prove that the flat dimension of the injective envelope of any (Gorenstein) flat left R-module is at most the flat dimension of the injective envelope of R R. Then we get that the injective envelope of R R is (Gorenstein) flat if and only if the injective envelope of every Gorenstein flat left R-module is (Gorenstein) flat, if and only if the injective envelope of every flat left R-module is (Gorenstein) flat, if and only if the (Gorenstein) flat cover of every injective left R-module is injective, and if and only if the opposite version of one of these conditions is satisfied.  相似文献

Let X be a left R-module. We characterize when the direct sum of two X-extending modules is X-extending via essential injectivity and pseudo injectivity of modules. As a corollary, we show that if extending modules M 1 and M 2 are relatively essentially injective and M 1 is pseudo-M 2-injective (or M 2 is pseudo-M 1-injective) then M 1M 2 is extending. Also we characterize when the direct sum of two CESS-modules is CESS. Some characterizations of almost Noetherian rings are also given by relative (quasi-) continuity of left R-modules.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring and A an Artinian R-module. We prove that if A has finite Gorenstein injective dimension, then A possesses a Gorenstein injective envelope which is special and Artinian. This, in particular, yields that over a Gorenstein ring any Artinian module possesses a Gorenstein injective envelope which is special and Artinian.  相似文献

A module M over a ring R is called a lifting module if every submodule A of M contains a direct summand K of M such that A/K is a small submodule of M/K (e.g., local modules are lifting). It is known that a (finite) direct sum of lifting modules need not be lifting. We prove that R is right Noetherian and indecomposable injective right R-modules are hollow if and only if every injective right R-module is a direct sum of lifting modules. We also discuss the case when an infinite direct sum of finitely generated modules containing its radical as a small submodule is lifting.  相似文献

If Λ is a ring and A is a Λ-module, then a terminal completion of Ext1Λ(A, ) is shown to exist if, and only if, ExtjΛ(A, P)=0 for all projective Λ-modules P and all sufficiently large j. Such a terminal completion exists for every A if, and only if, the supremum of the injective lengths of all projective Λ-modules, silp Λ, is finite. Analogous results hold for Ext1Λ(,A) and involve spli Λ, the supremum of the projective lengths of the injective Λ-modules. When Λ is an integral group ring ZG, spliZG is finite implies silp ZG is finite. Also the finiteness of spli is preserved under group extensions. If G is a countable soluble group, the spli ZG is finite if, and only if, the Hirsch number of G is finite.  相似文献

It is proved that A is a right distributive ring if and only if all quasiinjective right A-modules are Bezout left modules over their endomorphism rings if and only if for any quasiinjective right A-module M which is a Bezout left End (M)-module, every direct summand N of M is a Bezout left End(N)-module. If A is a right or left perfect ring, then all right A-modules are Bezout left modules over their endomorphism rings if and only if all right A-modules are distributive left modules over their endomorphism rings if and only if A is a distributive ring.  相似文献

A well-known result of Köthe and Cohen-Kaplansky states that a commutative ring R has the property that every R-module is a direct sum of cyclic modules if and only if R is an Artinian principal ideal ring. This motivated us to study commutative rings for which every ideal is a direct sum of cyclic modules. Recently, in Behboodi et al. Commutative Noetherian local rings whose ideals are direct sums of cyclic modules (J. Algebra 345:257–265, 2011) the authors considered this question in the context of finite direct products of commutative Noetherian local rings. In this paper, we continue their study by dropping the Noetherian condition.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative Cohen–Macaulay ring, and let C be a semidualizing module of R. In this paper, we show that C is generically dualizing if and only if the tensor products of injective and C-injective R-modules are injective. This leads to a characterization of dualizing modules as well as generalizes a result of Enochs and Jenda.  相似文献

It is a well-known result that the direct sum of any family of injective modules over a Noetherian ring is injective. Conversely, if A is a ring with the property that the direct sum of any family of injective modules is injective H. Bass [1] has shown that A is Noetherian. The object of the present paper is to give necessary and sufficient conditions for the direct sum of a given family of modules over an arbitrary ring to be injective.  相似文献

A ring R is said to have property (◇) if the injective hull of every simple R-module is locally Artinian. By landmark results of Matlis and Vamos, every commutative Noetherian ring has (◇). We give a systematic study of commutative rings with (◇), We give several general characterizations in terms of co-finite topologies on R and completions of R. We show that they have many properties of Noetherian rings, such as Krull intersection property, and recover several classical results of commutative Noetherian algebra, including some of Matlis and Vamos. Moreover, we show that a complete rings has (◇) if and only if it is Noetherian. We also give a few results relating the (◇) property of a local ring with that of its associated graded rings, and construct a series of examples.

Let A be an R G-module over a commutative ring R, where G is a group of infinite section p-rank (0-rank), C G (A) = 1, A is not a Noetherian R-module, and the quotient A/C A (H) is a Noetherian R-module for every proper subgroup H of infinite section p-rank (0-rank). We describe the structure of solvable groups G of this type.  相似文献

Let A be a bounded hereditary Noetherian prime ring. For an A-module M A , we prove that M is a finitely generated projective ${A \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {A {r\left( M \right)}}} \right. \kern-0em} {r\left( M \right)}}$ -module if and only if M is a ${\pi }$ -projective finite-dimensional module, and either M is a reduced module or A is a simple Artinian ring. The structure of torsion or mixed ${\pi }$ -projective A-modules is completely described.  相似文献

Injective and flat covers, envelopes and resolvents   总被引:11,自引:0,他引:11
Using the dual of a categorical definition of an injective envelope, injective covers can be defined. For a ringR, every leftR-module is shown to have an injective cover if and only ifR is left noetherian. Flat envelopes are defined and shown to exist for all modules over a regular local ring of dimension 2. Using injective covers, minimal injective resolvents can be defined.  相似文献

In this article, we study the weak global dimension of coherent rings in terms of the left FP-injective resolutions of modules. Let R be a left coherent ring and ? ? the class of all FP-injective left R-modules. It is shown that wD(R) ≤ n (n ≥ 1) if and only if every nth ? ?-syzygy of a left R-module is FP-injective; and wD(R) ≤ n (n ≥ 2) if and only if every (n ? 2)th ? ?-syzygy in a minimal ? ?-resolution of a left R-module has an FP-injective cover with the unique mapping property. Some results for the weak global dimension of commutative coherent rings are also given.  相似文献
