Fractional independent yields of fission products in the thermal neutron-induced fission of233U,235U,239Pu,241Pu and in the spontaneous fission of252Cf have been correlated with the neutron-to-proton ratio of the fission products. The yields of the products from a fissioning system, when plotted as a function of neutron-to-proton (N/Z) ratio of fission preducts, fall on two Gaussian distribution corresponding to light and heavy fission products. The centroids of the distribution or the most probable value of neutron-to-proton ratio is found to be very close to theN/Z of the fissioning nucleus. From the most probable value ofN/Z the various parameters of charge distribution e.g. most probable massA p, most probable chargeZ p, the mass dispersionσ Aand the charge dispersionσ Zhave been obtained and are in good agreement with the experimental values ofA pandZ p.  相似文献

Cumulative and independent fission product yields of the reaction197Au(d,f) were determined at a beam energy of 80 MeV at the Jülich isochronous cyclotron. Off-beamγ-ray measurements applying a catcher foil technique and chemical separation, and in inbeam kinetic energy measurements of fission products were performed. The complete yield distribution of post neutron emission fission fragments is represented by a single function, consisting of the product of two Gaussians. The mass distribution is characterized by the widthσ A =12.5amu. The width of theZ-distribution for eachA-chain is given byσ Z =0.63amu.  相似文献

In bombarding209Bi and207, 208Pb targets by55Mn and58Fe ions the yields of “cold fusion” reactions have been determined using a sensitive technique for detectingT 1/2≧1 ms spontaneous fission and theα-decay of heavy actinide elements. It has been shown that theA = 263–265 isotopes of element 108, including the even-even isotope264108, undergo mainlyα-decay. The obtained results, together with the known data on the properties of the isotopes of elements 104 and 106, provide evidence for the enhanced stability of theZ=108 nuclei against spontaneous fission.  相似文献

The production of superheavy elements in binary reactions of the type208Pb (136Xe, X) Y was investigated atE c.m.=470 MeV. The experiment was designed to search for delayed fission products from elements withZ between 108 and 116 and fission lifetimes ofΤ?10?12 s. At the recoil spectrometer “Lohengrin” of the Institut Laue-Langevin in Grenoble, the yields of the light fission products from the thermal-neutron-induced fission of 239Pu were measured as a function of A, Z, the kinetic energy E and the ionic charge states q. The nuclear charge and mass distributions summed over all ionic charge states were determined for different light fissionproduct kinetic energies between 93 and 112 MeV. The proton odd-even effect which was measured to be (11.6 ± 0.6)% causes considerable fine structure in the yields. The average kinetic energy of even-Z elements in the light fission-product group is 0.3 ± 0.1 MeV larger than for odd-Z elements. The neutron odd-even effect is (6.5 ± 0.7)%. The comparison with previously published data 1) for thermal-neutron-induced fission of 235U reveals a correlation between the proton odd-even effect in the yield and in the kinetic energy of the elements. The dependence of the proton odd-even effect on the fragmentation is very similar for 235U and 239Pu when it is considered as a function of the nuclear charge of the heavy fission products. The isobaric variances σz2. for thermal-neutron fission of 235U and 239Pu coincide at all kinetic energies if the influence of the proton odd-even effect is averaged out. This supports the hypothesis that the magnitude of σz2 is determined only by quantum-mechanical zero-point fluctuations. The influence of the spherical shells Z = 50 and N = 82 on the fragmentation is discussed.  相似文献

Neutron-rich rubidium isotopes were produced by thermal-neutron induced fission of235U and were isolated by surface ionization and mass separation. The new isotope (51 ±17) ms100Rb was identified. The half-lives of the rubidium isotopes with mass numberA=96 toA=100 were measured using neutron multiscaling or gamma multispectrum analysis. Measurements of the delayed-neutron emission probabilityP n of99Rb and of the fission yields of97Rb,98Rb, and99Rb were performed.  相似文献

The yields of light fission products from thermal-neutron induced fission of 233U are measured as a function of their mass A, their nuclear charge Z, their kinetic energy E and their ionic charge state q at the recoil spectrometer Lohengrin of the Institut Laue-Langevin in Grenoble. The mass yields are determined by intercepting the fragments with an ionization chamber of high energy resolution positioned at the focal plane of the spectrometer. The nuclear charges and their yields are determined with the same ionization chamber by measuring the residual energy of fission products, selected monoenergetically by Lohengrin, behind a passive absorber made of parylene-C. The nuclear charge resolution enabled by this detector device is considerably improved to Z/dZ = 58. The nuclear charge and mass distributions summed over all ionic charge states are listed within the mass range 79 ⩽ A ⩽ 106 at 6 energies: E = 85.34, 90.41, 95.46, 100.50, 105.55 and 110.55 MeV. The energy-integrated nuclear charge and mass yields are also given. The isotonic and isotopic yields are shown. An odd-even effect in the yields is found for the protons as well as for the neutrons at all kinetic energies. The yield weighted total odd-even effect for the protons is found to be (22.1 ± 2.1)%, for the neutrons (5.4 ± 1.7)%. An odd-even effect for the protons in the mean kinetic energy is also observed. The displacement of the mean isobaric nuclear charges from the unchanged charge-density values and the variances of the isobaric nuclear-charge distributions reveal fine structures in their mass dependences.  相似文献

The experimental results on delayed-neutron yields from thermal-neutron-induced fission of some actinides in the IBR-2 pulsed reactor are presented. A method of periodic irradiation without displacement of the sample was used. The measurements of delayed-neutron total yields in thermal-neutron-induced fission of 239Pu, 233U, and 237Np and in cold-neutron-induced fission of 235U, 233U, and 239Pu were carried out. All values were obtained with the use of the value of β0 for (n th+235U) as a reference. Precise measurements of decay curves in the time interval 5–350 ms for 235U and 239Pu were performed.  相似文献

Fragments from thermal-neutron induced fission of235U have been separated by a mass spectrometer with respect to their masses and kinetic energies within 1 μsec. The separation principles are briefly described. For masses 130 to 139 amu the charge distributions have been determined by counting the number of beta tracks emitted from the individual mass selected fission fragments in a nuclear photographic emulsion. In another method, the average number of beta particles for each fragment mass is determined by use of a 4π-proportional counter. The mean nuclear charge as a function of mass is compared with other experimental results and theoretical curves. Contradictory to the radiochemical results, this experiment yields a dip in the mean nuclear charge versus mass curve at mass 132 amu corresponding to the doubly magic nucleus (N=82,Z=50)132Sn. Recent theoretical calculations of Nörenberg are in agreement with this finding.  相似文献

The absolute yields of prompt and delayed fission induced by negative muons in 232Th, 238U and 235U have been measured. The delayed fission yields are much lower than could be predicted from Γn/Γf systematics for 15–20 MeV nuclear excitation. The systematics of prompt fission yields are compared with recently obtained photofission data. It is suggested that prompt fission can be used for investigating the channel structure of the fission barrier.  相似文献

Yields of light fission products (A = 68, 70–84, 87, 88, 94, 96, 98, 102 and 106–108), their kinetic energies and nuclear charge distributions (A = 71–84, 87 and 88) in the thermal neutron induced fission of the odd-Z nucleus 242mAm(Z = 95) were measured using the mass-separator Lohengrin at the Institute Laue-Langevin in Grenoble (France). The mass yield curve shows a fine structure at A = 70, probably due to shell and/or odd-even effects affecting also the nuclear charge distribution. The analysis of isotopic chain yields gives evidence for a very low excitation energy of the lightest fission fragments observed. A preferential formation of fragments with even Z is found for this odd-Z compound nucleus. Calculated values for the local odd-even effect are comparable with those for the neighbouring even-Z fissile nuclides and increase from 13% to 30% with increasing asymmetry of the mass split (AL = 84 to 68 and ZL = 35 to 28). The neutron odd-even effect shows a similar but less pronounced behaviour.  相似文献

Strongly damped collisions were studied in uranium induced reactions on110Pd and124Sn target nuclei near the barrier. The excitation-energy splitting was deduced from binary reaction yields and those in which the heavy fragment undergoes sequential fission. For systems with 87≦Z≦95 for the heavy fragment, the excitation energy is concentrated in the lighter nucleus, at best shared equally. The results indicate a non-equilibrated energy dissipation, and support nucleon exchange based on average single-particle strength functions as the underlying dissipation mechanism at the barrier.  相似文献

Velocity distributions of heavy residuesA Res>A tar,Z Res>Z tar identified by means ofα spectroscopy, have been investigated at the velocity filter SHIP in reactions20Ne+208Pb at projectile energies E/A=8.6, 11.4 and 15.0 MeV/u. Besides products from complete or nearly complete fusion, characterized by velocity distributions peaking atν/ν CN?0.8–1.0, heavy residues with mean velocities of about half of the compound nucleus velocity were observed. The Z-distribution of this component was found to peak atZ=87. It is interpreted as residues from fusion of target nuclei with projectile fragments produced by nearly symmetric break-up. The experimental results were compared with predictions of theoretical models: cross sections for incomplete fusion were calculated using the sum-rule model of Wilcynski et al., while residue cross sections were calculated using the evaporation code HIVAP. A fair agreement between experimental and calculated mass distributions of heavy residues and transferred projectile fragments is achieved if an energy dissipation of ?23% (at E/A=8.6 MeV/u) and ?8% (at E/A=11.4 MeV/u) of the incident projectile energy is introduced. The observed peak of theZ-distribution atZ=87 is predominantly effected due to a higher fission probability of products withZ>87 during the deexcitation process and experimental limitations in the identification of products withZ≦86 by means of a spectroscopy, which cause a decrease of the observed production rates towards lowerZ.  相似文献

The independent isomeric yield ratio of148Pr in thermal neutron induced fission of235U has been determined experimentally. The fission product148Pr isomers, extracted directly by on-line mass separation technique, have high-spin (J=4) to low-spin (J=1) isomer ratio of 0.14±0.04 using growth and decay analysis. Statistical model calculation of isomeric yeild ratio using constant initial r.m.s. angular momentumJ rms can not reproduce either present results or other recent measurements of isomer ratios. TheJ rms derived from isomer ratio data in all thermal fissioning systems indicate a wide spread ranging from 2? to 13?. No clear correlation betweenJ rms and isomeric spins or number of neutrons of isomers is found, thus, more model refinements and experimental works should be done in order to evaluate independent isomeric yields correctly.  相似文献

The spectra ofK x-rays emitted by the target-like reaction products in the deep inelastic collisions 1,160-MeV136Xe+Pb and136Xe+232Th were investigated. Target-like x-ray emission probabilities per projectile-like and per target-like product were determined and compared with theoretical predictions of atomic vacancy production in the higher-Z particle (1s }-vacancy production). It is shown that a large fraction of the x-rays is produced by internal conversion ofγ-rays in the higher-Z reaction product. Measurement of target-like x-rays in coincidence with projectile-like and with target-like reaction products allowed the determination of the average survival probability against fission and of theZ-distribution of the highly excited target-like nuclei as a function of theQ value (total kinetic energy loss). The observed average survival probabilities agree qualitatively with theoretical predictions of Wilcke et al. Nuclearreaction-time effects on the 1s σ-vacancy production in these collisions could not be demonstrated with any certainty.  相似文献

The time-of-flight technique was used to measure the mass and kinetic energy distribution of fragments from fission of233U,235U and239Pu, induced by thermal neutrons at the Grenoble High Flux Reactor. The data array is presented as equal probability lines in the high kinetic energy regions. The fluctuations observed in those experimental lines are explained by a static scission configuration model, in which the most important influence comes from the Coulomb interaction energy between the two fragments. The highest values of total kinetic energy are obtained for fragmentations with heavy fragmentsZ=50–52,N=80–82 and light fragmentsZ=40–42,N=60–64.  相似文献

We have searched for beta-delayed fission in the decay of 2.3 min238Pa produced in the238U(n,p) reaction with 14.7 MeV neutrons. Through microprocessor-controlled chemical separations of protactinium about 109 atoms of238Pa were isolated and exposed to fission track detectors. From the absence of fission tracks an upper limit for the betadelayed fission probability of238Pa, i.e.P βf <2.6 10?8, is obtained at 95% confidence level. This rules out positive evidence for this decay mode of238Pa reported elsewhere. Simple theoretical estimates ofP βf range from 10?7 to 10?9.  相似文献

Short lived Ru isotopes produced in thermal fission of235U have been chemically separated from the other fission products. Successiveγ-ray spectra were taken by means of Ge(Li) detectors. The observedγ-lines have been assigned to the various Ru isotopes (A=107 to 110) or to their daughter elements on the basis of their half-lives, intensity ratios and known level properties. Partial decay schemes are discussed and relative fission yields are given.111Ru has been identified (T 12: 1.5±0.3 s).  相似文献

The fragment mass and energy distributions from the proton-induced fission of compound nuclei 233Pa, 234,236,237,239Np, 239,240,241,243Am, and 245Bk at proton energy E p =10.3 and 22.0 MeV have been experimentally studied. It was revealed that the shapes of the asymmetric fission mass distributions are mainly defined by the proton numbers of compound nuclei and demonstrate only a weak dependence on the neutron ones. The detailed study of the fission fragment mass yields for compound nuclei Np and Am isotopic chains has shown that the asymmetric fission fragment charge distributions calculated within the unchanged charge density hypothesis for nuclei with equal Z C practically coincide.  相似文献
