In the present article there is given a characterization of power series spaces of finite type by linear topological invariants. This is used to give a complete characterization of the classes of subspaces and quotient spaces of any nuclear stable power series space 1(). It is further used for the investigation of exact sequences of the form Or()E()O. They are known to split for =+. It is shown that for r<+, p<+, but the sequence need not split. There are examples for for r=+, p<+. At last the characterization is used to determine the structure of certain systems of linear equations in infinitely many variables (ct. Mityagin [10], Probl. 4.6). At the end of the article we give conditions on a space E for the existence of a 1() such that E is a subspace or a quotient space of E and we give an example of an isomorphy proof using the previous results.  相似文献

Summary This paper treats the nonlinear age-dependent population problem (1)(0,a)=(a), a I; (2)(t, 0)=F((t, ·)), t0; (3) ,t0,where I is the age range of the population, (t, ·) is the unknown age density at time t, is the known initial age distribution, and the functionals F and G are nonlinear. Considering form rings as a category with dimension in the sense of Bak, we obtain a dimension filtration G 2n (A, ) G 2n 0(A, ) ; G 2n 1(A, ) ... E 2n (A, ) of the general quadratic group G 2n (A, ) such that G 2n (A, )/G 2n 0(A, ) is Abelian, G 2n 0(A, ) G 2n 1(A, ) ... is a descending central series, and G 2n d(A)(A, ) = E 2n (A, ) whenever d(A) = (Bass–Serre dimension of A) is finite. This paper defines and studies the polynomial filtration [pk ] of the shift functor : F , where F is the category of functors between F-vector spaces over a finite field F. The functors [pk ] correspond to a system of functors (pk T):U U, related to Lannes'T-functor on the category U of unstable modules over the Steenrod algebra. The main results concern the behaviour of the quotients ~ s:=~/[ps-1~ filtrations by ~s-nilpotent functors are introduced and it is shown that the full subcategory of s-nilpotent functors is thick.  相似文献

Summary In this paper we study the noncharacteristic Cauchy problem, ut–(a(x)ux)x=0, x(0, l), t.(0, T], u(0, t)=(t), ux(0,t)=0, 0tT, assuming only L for a. In the case of weak a priori bounds on u, we derive stability estimates on u of Hölder type in the interior and of logarithmic type at the boundary. Also the continuous dependence on a is considered.

By the M.Riesz Convexity Theorem, an operator T on the space of simple integrable functions into the measurable functions (on some measure space) which has continuous extensions to Lp() and Lq() , where 1 p q , also has continuous exten — sions to all Lr () , p r q . It is shown that, whenever (Tp) and (Tq) are o-dimensional (in particular, countable) then the spectra (Tr) (p r q) are pairwise identical. For q = , only w*-continuous extensions are considered. The authors consider the nonlinear difference equation xn+1=xn+xn-kf(xn-k),n=0,1,(0.1) where (0,1), k 0,1, and f C1[[0,), [0,)] with f(x) < 0.They give sufficient conditions for the unique positive equilibrium of (0.1) to be a global attractor of all positive solutions. Summary Let A be a real or complex commutative ordered algebra with identity and involution. Let denote the set of positive multiplicative linear functionals on A. Equip with the topology of simple convergence. For a fixed non-negative probability measure on the set p of linear functionals f on A which admit an integral representation of the form with FL p () (1p) is biuniquely identified with L p () via the map tfF. The norm on p under which this map becomes an isometry is characterized and a formula for approximating F is derived. The linear functionals which admit representation of the form with are also characterized and appropriately normed. The theory is applied to solve abstract versions of trigonometric and n-dimensional moment problems as well as provide an alternate point of view to the theory of L p-spaces. Consider the forced higher-order nonlinear neutral functional differential equation

Some sufficient conditions for the existence of a nonoscillatory solution of above equation are obtained for general Q i(t) (i = 1, 2, ... ,m) and g(t) which means that we allow oscillatory Qi(t) (i = 1, 2, ... ,m) and g(t).
