The notion of “near isomorphism” for torsion-free Abelian groups of finite rank is well known. In particular, this concept turned out to be of importance for classifying almost completely decomposable groups. We extend near isomorphism to classes of torsion-free Abelian groups of infinite rank which are unions of bcd–groups, this is to say unions of groups which are bounded essential extensions of completely decomposable groups. Moreover, we show that nearly isomorphic groups of this class also have nearly isomorphic endomorphism rings considered as Abelian groups.  相似文献

In this paper the characteristic of the Abelian p-extensions of a field is given using valuations from its cyclotomic extensions. On the basis of this the character group of the Galois groups of the maximal Abelian p-extension of an absolutely unramified complete field is calculated. The results are applied to the case of a two-dimensional local field.Translated from Zapiski Nauchnykh Seminarov Leningradskogo Otdeleniya Matematicheskogo Instituta im. V. A. We call a central Z-extension of a group G weakly universal for an Abelian group A if the correspondence assigning to a homomorphism ZA the corresponding A-extension yields a bijection of extension classes. The main problem discussed in this paper is the existence of central Lie group extensions of a connected Lie group G which is weakly universal for all Abelian Lie groups whose identity components are quotients of vector spaces by discrete subgroups. We call these Abelian groups regular. In the first part of the paper we deal with the corresponding question in the context of topological, Fréchet, and Banach–Lie algebras, and in the second part we turn to the groups. Here we start with a discussion of the weak universality for discrete Abelian groups and then turn to regular Lie groups A. The main results are a Recognition and a Characterization Theorem for weakly universal central extensions.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to determine all commutative hypergroup extensions of a countable discrete commutative hypergroup by a locally compact Abelian group, in terms of second order cohomology of hypergroups, a notion which generalizes the cohomology of groups.  相似文献

An extension E of an Abelian group A by a locally supersolvable group is studied under the assumption that A has a finite series of subgroups normal in E, each of whose factors satisfies one of the following conditions: 1) min-E; 2) max-E; 3) the factor has finite rank and is torsion-free. It is proved that if E induces in the factors of the series in A hypercyclic groups of automorphisms and A is the locally supersolvable coradical of E, then A is complemented in E and all complements are conjugate in E. An analog of this result for locally nilpotent extensions of Abelian groups is also noted.Translated from Ukrainskii Matematicheskii Zhurnal, Vol. 42, No. 7, pp. 908–912, July, 1990.  相似文献

The study of pairs of modules (over a Dedekind domain) arises from two different perspectives, as a starting step in the analysis of tuples of submodules of a given module, or also as a particular case in the analysis of Abelian structures made by two modules and a morphism between them. We discuss how these two perspectives converge to pairs of modules, and we follow the latter one to obtain an alternative approach to the classification of pairs of torsionfree objects. Then we restrict our attention to pairs of free modules. Our main results are that the theory of pairs of free Abelian groups is co-recursively enumerable, and that a few remarkable extensions of this theory are decidable. We study extensions of higher-rank Abelian TNS actions (i.e. hyperbolic and with a special structure of the stable distributions) by compact connected Lie groups. We show that up to a constant, there are only finitely many cohomology classes. We also show the existence of cocycles over higher-rank Abelian TNS actions that are not cohomologous to constant cocycles. This is in contrast to earlier results, showing that real valued cocycles, or small Lie group valued cocycles, over higher-rank Abelian actions are cohomologous to constants.  相似文献

Torsion-Free Ext
This article investigates homological properties of the class *B of Abelian groups A such that Ext(A, B) is torsion-free. In particular, subgroups and extensions of groups in *B are discussed.  相似文献

We develop a general study of ergodic properties of extensions of measure preserving dynamical systems. These extensions are given by cocycles (called here Rokhlin cocycles) taking values in the group of automorphisms of a measure space which represents the fibers. We use two different approaches in order to study ergodic properties of such extensions. The first approach is based on properties of mildly mixing group actions and the notion of complementary algebra. The second approach is based on spectral theory of unitary representations of locally compact Abelian groups and the theory of cocycles taking values in such groups. Finally, we examine the structure of self-joinings of extensions. We partially answer a question of Rudolph on lifting mixing (and multiple mixing) property to extensions and answer negatively a question of Robinson on lifting Bernoulli property. We also shed new light on some earlier results of Glasner and Weiss on the class of automorphisms disjoint from all weakly mixing transformations. Answering a question asked by Thouvenot we establish a relative version of the Foiaş—Stratila theorem on Gaussian—Kronecker dynamical systems. In this paper, we study holomorphically isomorphic Abelian groups, i.e., Abelian groups with isomorphic holomorphs. We also study a generalization of the concept of holomorphic isomorphism, namely, almost holomorphic isomorphism, which is deeply connected with normal Abelian subgroups of holomorphs of Abelian groups. Torsion-free Abelian groups that are determined by their holomorphs are highlighted from different classes. In particular, it has been found that any homogeneous separable group can be determined by its holomorph in the class of all Abelian groups.  相似文献

In this paper, for any reduced Abelian group A whose torsion-free rank is infinite, we construct a countable set A(A) of Abelian groups connected with the group A in a definite way and such that for any two different groups B and C from the set A(A) the groups B and C are isomorphic but Hom(B,X) ? Hom(C,X) for any Abelian group X. The construction of such a set of Abelian groups is closely connected with Problem 34 from L. Fuchs’ book “Infinite Abelian Groups,” Vol. 1.  相似文献

Let A be a class of Abelian groups, AA, and End(A) be the additive endomorphism group of the group A. The group A is said to be defined by its endomorphism group in the class {ie208-01} if for every group BB such that End(B) ≅ End(A) the isomorphism BA holds. The paper considers the problem of definability of a periodic Abelian group A such that End-End(A) ≅ End(A). The classes of periodical Abelian groups, of divisible Abelian groups, of reduced Abelian groups, of nonreduced Abelian groups, and of all Abelian groups are investigated in this paper. __________ Translated from Fundamentalnaya i Prikladnaya Matematika, Vol. 13, No. 2, pp. 123–131, 2007.  相似文献

File bases — special systems of group generators generalizing the usual bases of Abelian groups — are considered. Examples of such bases in different group classes are listed. It is shown that if some initial groups have file bases, then direct and free products of these groups as well as their extensions also have such bases. With some additional restrictions imposed, the existence of a file basis in factor groups is proved. A list of problems is offered. In the paper, necessary and sufficient conditions for an Abelian group A to be isomorphic to the endomorphism group End(A) are obtained. The classes of periodic Abelian groups, divisible Abelian groups, nonreduced Abelian groups, and reduced algebraically compact Abelian groups are considered. For certain classes of Abelian groups, the isomorphism problem for a group and its endomorphism group is solved under the assumption that the endomorphism group itself has the corresponding property.  相似文献

An infinite extension of the elementary theory of Abelian groups is constructed, which is proved to be decidable, while the elementary theory of its finite models is shown to be undecidable. Tarski’s proof of undecidability for the elementary theory of Abelian cancellation semigroups is presented in detail. Szmielew’s proof of the decidability of the elementary theory of Abelian groups is used to prove the decidability of the elementary theory of finite Abelian groups, and an axiom system for this theory is exhibited. It follows that the elementary theory of Abelian cancellation semigroups, while undecidable, has a decidable theory of finite models.  相似文献

This paper deals with a classical question of Frey and Jarden, who asked in their 1974 paper if any non-zero Abelian variety over a number field K acquires infinite rank over the maximal Abelian extension Kab of the ground field. We generalize recent results of Rosen and Wong on the subject. However, the original question in full generality remains open. Some further results on the rank in certain other infinite extensions are included.  相似文献

In this paper, we study linearly topological groups. We introduce the notion of a weakly linearly compact group, which generalizes the notion of a weakly separable group, and examine the main properties of such groups. For weakly linearly compact groups, we construct the character theory and present an algebraic characterization of some classes of such groups. Some well-known theorems for periodic Abelian groups are generalized for the case of linearly discrete, topological Abelian groups; for linearly compact and linearly discrete topological Abelian groups, we also construct the character theory and study some important properties of linearly discrete groups. For linearly discrete, topological Abelian groups, we analyze the splittability condition (Theorem 3.12) and present the characteristic condition of decomposability of a discrete group G into the direct sum of rank-1 groups. We also present an algebraic characterization of linearly compact groups. We introduce the notion of a weakly linearly compact, topological Abelian group, which generalizes the notion of a weakly separable Abelian group, and examine some properties of such groups. These groups are a generalization of fibrous Abelian groups introduced by Vilenkin. We give an algebraic characterization of divisible, weakly locally compact Abelian groups that do not contain nonzero elements of finite order (Proposition 7.9). For weakly locally compact Abelian groups, we construct universal groups.  相似文献

APPROXIMATION ORDER AND INTERPOLATION SPACES   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper we introduce the two-parameter operators on Abelian group and establish their interpolation theorems of approximation, which are extensions of the interpolation theorems for nonlinear best approximation by R. Devore and are suitable for the approximation of oprators.  相似文献
