Generation of an acoustic wave by two pump sound waves is studied in a three-phase marine sediment, which consists of a solid frame and the pore water with air bubbles in it. To avoid shock-wave formation, the interaction is considered in the frequency range where there is a significant sound velocity dispersion. Nonlinear equations are obtained to describe the interaction of acoustic waves in the presence of air bubbles. An expression for the amplitude of the generated wave is obtained and numerical analysis of its dependence on distance and resonance frequency of bubbles is performed.  相似文献

The phenomenological approach has been used to study analytically the acoustic wave second harmonic generation in piezoelectric semiconductors in the presence of the d.c. electric and an oscillating electromagnetic field (OEF). It has been suggested that the second harmonic acoustic flux (SHAF) can be enhanced considerably by the application of an OEF polarized in the direction of the propagating acoustic wave. The SHAF exhibits a maximum at Ω = ω, where Ω is the frequency of the OEF and ω is the frequency of the acoustic wave. The SHAF also shows a maximum at d.c. electric fields for which the average drift velocity of the carriers is equal to the velocity of sound. It is found that for a typical case of n-type nondegenerate InSb (77°K, n = 2·5 × 1014 cm?3) that the SHAF is enhanced by a factor of 103 over its value in the absence of OEF. The present analysis is valid in the low frequency region only (i.e. ql ? 1).  相似文献

Ion acoustic subharmonic excitation in a plasma, with ion-neutral collision frequency greater than the frequency of excitation, is theoretically investigated. Two-fluid theory with source term is used to describe the system. The system exhibits either subharmonic excitation of orders 1/2 and 1/3, or subharmonic excitation of orders 1/3, 1/4 and 1/5. The resonance frequency range and the amplitude of second harmonic for each case is calculated. A comparison with experimental data can be used to obtain the values of the parameters describing the source term.  相似文献

The conventional acoustic nonlinear technique to evaluate the contact acoustic nonlinearity (CAN) at solid-solid contact interfaces (e.g., closed cracks), which uses the through-transmission of normally incident bulk waves, is limited in that access to both the inner and outer surfaces of structures for attaching pulsing and receiving transducers is difficult. The angle beam incidence and reflection technique, where both the pulsing and receiving transducers are located on the same side of the target, may allow the above problem to be overcome. However, in the angle incidence technique, mode-conversion at the contact interfaces as well as the normal and tangential interface stiffness should be taken into account. Based on the linear and nonlinear contact stiffness, we propose a theoretical model for the reflection of an ultrasonic wave angularly incident on contact interfaces. In addition, the magnitude of the CAN-induced second harmonic wave in the reflected ultrasonic wave is predicted. Experimental results obtained for the contact interfaces of A16061-T6 alloy specimens at various loading pressures showed good agreement with theoretical predictions. Such agreement proves the validity of the suggested oblique incidence model.  相似文献

Observation of harmonic and subharmonic Shapiro steps in orthorhombic TaS3 in the presence of combined rf and dc drive is reported, demonstrating that both the harmonic and subharmonic steps are a general characteristic of charge-density-wave response. Compared to NbSe3, the noise spectrum is typically much broader in TaS3, leading to poorly defined steps at small rf voltages. The steps sharpen with larger amplitudes of rf. Increased rf amplitude is also accompanied by an increase in the CDW current density at a given step, but this increase approaches a limiting value for large rf levels. The results are interpreted as evidence for increased coherence of the CDW response in the presence of large rf driving fields.  相似文献

Experimental observations of the subharmonic and ultraharmonic acoustic waves in water-saturated sandy sediment are reported in this paper. Acoustic pressures of both nonlinear acoustic waves strongly depend on the driving acoustic pressure at a transducer. The first ultraharmonic wave reaches a saturation value as the driving acoustic pressure increases. The acoustic pressure levels of both nonlinear acoustic waves exhibit some fluctuations in comparison with that of the primary acoustic wave as the receiving distance of hydrophone increases in sediment. The subharmonic and the ultraharmonic phenomena in this study show close resemblance to those produced in bubbly water.  相似文献

Six models of contrast microbubbles are investigated to determine the excitation threshold for subharmonic generation. The models are applied to a commercial contrast agent; its characteristic parameters according to each model are determined using experimentally measured ultrasound attenuation. In contrast to the classical perturbative result, the minimum threshold for subharmonic generation is not always predicted at excitation with twice the resonance frequency; instead it occurs over a range of frequencies from resonance to twice the resonance frequency. The quantitative variation of the threshold with frequency depends on the model and the bubble radius. All models are transformed into a common interfacial rheological form, where the encapsulation is represented by two radius dependent surface properties-effective surface tension and surface dilatational viscosity. Variation of the effective surface tension with radius, specifically having an upper limit (resulting from strain softening or rupture of the encapsulation during expansion), plays a critical role. Without the upper limit, the predicted threshold is extremely large, especially near the resonance frequency. Having a lower limit on surface tension (e.g., zero surface tension in the buckled state) increases the threshold value at twice the resonance frequency, in some cases shifting the minimum threshold toward resonance.  相似文献

The problem of reflection of an acoustic wave from a two-layer medium containing a layer of bubble liquid is considered. The wave reflectance for a water–water mixture with an air bubble–air mixture is calculated and compared with experimental data. Spontaneous formation of solitary wave structures has been observed in Earth's magnetopause, and is shown to be caused by the breakup of a zonal flow by the action of drift wave turbulence. Here we show matched observations and modeling of coherent, large-scale solitary electrostatic structures, generated during the interaction of short-scale drift wave turbulence and zonal flows at the Earth's magnetopause. The observations were made by the Cluster spacecraft and the numerical modeling was performed using the wave-kinetic approach to drift wave-zonal flow interactions. Good agreement between observations and simulations has been found, thus explaining the emergence of the observed solitary structures as well as confirming earlier theoretical predictions of their existence.  相似文献

Summary We shall investigate two models of harmonic generation in the spirit of the Keldysh theory and we shall apply these models to hydrogen, for which more exact data for the rates of this process are available. Although our models correctly describe the angular distribution, the intensity dependence (in the perturbation regime) and the selection rule for odd harmonics, they badly fail in their predictions of the correct order of magnitude of the rates, in particular, of the formation of a plateau. These latter findings disagree with the results of a similar model calculation by Beckeret al. for a δ-function potential. The influence of the microstructure of slightly nonlinear composites on the nonlinear response is investigated. The third-harmonic amplitude is expressed in terms of the fourth moment of the current and the local value of the nonlinear sensitivity tensor of the composite. The dynamics of correlation of photon number fluctuations of interacting modes for the process of intracavity third subharmonic generation is investigated. It is shown that the entangled field states by the variables of photon number can be obtained in this system. The quantum dynamics of the photons number, the quantum entropy and the Wigner function of the stationary states of the fundamental mode and the third subharmonic mode have also been studied. It is found that the dynamics of these quantities depends highly on the value of the coupling coefficient of the interacting modes. It is shown that at long interaction times and for the large values of the coupling coefficient of the modes, the mode of the third subharmonic is localized in the three-component state with the same probability of detection of the mode in each component of the state. The quantum entropy of the state is less than the maximal entropy of the three-component state ln3, which points out the presence of quantum mechanical interference between the components of the state of third subharmonic mode.  相似文献

Short pulsed laser-induced single acoustic wave generation, propagation, interaction within a water-filled internal channel are experimentally and numerically studied. A large-area, short-duration, single-plane acoustic wave was generated by the thermoelastic interaction of a homogenized nanosecond pulsed laser beam with a liquid–solid interface and propagated at the speed of sound in water. Laser flash Schlieren photography was used to visualize the transient interaction of the plane acoustic wave in various internal channel structures ((a) sudden expansion and contraction channels, (b) bifurcating channels, (c) gradual contraction wall channels and (d) a cylinder). Fairly good agreement between the experimental results and numerical simulation is observed.  相似文献

In a dusty plasma, the non-adiabaticity of the charge variation on a dust grain surface results in an anomalous dissipation. Analytical investigation shows that this results in a small but finite amplitude dust acoustic (DA) wave propagation which is described by the Korteweg-de Vries-Burger equation. Results of the numerical investigation of the propagation of large-amplitude dust acoustic stationary shock wave are presented here using the complete set of non-linear dust fluid equations coupled with the dust charging equation and Poisson equation. The DA waves are of compressional type showing considerable increase of dust density, which is of significant importance in astrophysical context as it leads to enhanced gravitational attraction considered as a viable process for star formation. The phase sensitive bistability occuring in subharmonic generation has long been known, but may only now find applications in the optical domain. We extend our earlier theories of additive and multiplicative noise in quantum optics and determine the Wigner distributions for the bistable subharmonic mode which is controlled by an external coherent signal, both for the case of a coherent and a partially incoherent pump at the fundamental frequency.  相似文献

Subharmonics are often observed in ultrasonic infrared thermography (UIR) system as samples are excited by ultrasonic transducers, and it is testified that, as the subharmonics appear, the detectability of cracks or defects in the sample is greatly enhanced in the UIR system. A dynamical model to explore the generation mechanism of the subharmonics and simulate the sample motion excited by an ultrasonic transducer in the UIR system is presented in this paper. In the model, the sample is continuously impacted by the transducer as the transducer is pushed to the sample by a constant force, in which the sample is simplified as a damped oscillator and the transducer is simplified as an active oscillator with constant frequency and amplitude. The impact process is also taken into account, in which the acting force is assumed to vary linearly during the impact process. A stable waveform of subharmonics in the sample can be obtained in appropriate conditions.  相似文献

The statistical properties of the second harmonic and subharmonic are investigated on the basis of the generalized Fokker-Planck equation making use of the coherent state technique. An iterative procedure of solving the Fokker-Planck equation is adopted making it possible to obtain some recursion equations, particularly two iterations are explicitly performed providing approximate solutions for the normal and antinormal characteristic functions. Higher-order corrections to the superposition of coherent and chaotic fields are found in the subharmonic mode or if the coupling of modes is taken into account. Earlier results for the anticorrelation effect are rederived, the reservoir effect is obtained and the related problems of the existence of the Glauber-Sudarshan quasidistribution are discussed.  相似文献

Based on the thermoelastic theory, a finite element model is developed to simulate the process of laser inducing ultrasonic field in isotropic cylinders, which can take the temperature dependence of thermal parameters into account. Using the finite element model, we have simulated the ultrasonic fields induced by a pulse laser line source impacting on the generatrix of aluminum cylinders with different diameters. And the intact waveforms of surface acoustic wave (SAW including cylindrical Rayleigh and Whispering gallery (WG) modes) are presented, which are in very good agreement with the calculated and experimental waveforms in other literatures. Furthermore, the dispersion properties of cylindrical Rayleigh waves are analyzed by the method of phase spectral analysis, and the results show that with the increasing frequency, the phase velocity of cylindrical Rayleigh wave rapidly increases to the maximum value, and then gradually decreases to that of plane Rayleigh wave. With the diameter of cylinder decreasing, the maximum value of phase velocity and the corresponding frequency increase.  相似文献
