In this paper, we discuss how to use the critical point theory to study the existence of gap solitons for periodic discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equations. An open problem proposed by Professor Alexander Pankov is solved.  相似文献

In an abstract setting we prove a nonlinear superposition principle for zeros of equivariant vector fields that are asymptotically additive in a well-defined sense. This result is used to obtain multibump solutions for two basic types of periodic stationary Schrödinger equations with superlinear nonlinearity. The nonlinear term may be of convolution type. If the superquadratic term in the energy functional is convex, our results also apply in certain cases if 0 is in a gap of the spectrum of the Schrödinger operator.  相似文献

We consider Schrödinger operators with periodic potentials on periodic discrete graphs. The spectrum of the Schrödinger operator consists of an absolutely continuous part (a union of a finite number of non-degenerated bands) plus a finite number of flat bands, i.e., eigenvalues of infinite multiplicity. We obtain estimates of the Lebesgue measure of the spectrum in terms of geometric parameters of the graph and show that they become identities for some class of graphs. Moreover, we obtain stability estimates and show the existence and positions of large number of flat bands for specific graphs. The proof is based on the Floquet theory and the precise representation of fiber Schrödinger operators, constructed in the paper.  相似文献

We prove the existence of nontrivial solutions for the Schrödinger equation −Δu+V(x)u=aγ(x)f(u) in RN, where f is superlinear and subcritical at zero and infinity respectively, V is periodic and a(x) changes sign.  相似文献

The nonlinear Schrödinger equation possesses three distinct six-parameter families of complex-valued quasiperiodic traveling waves, one in the defocusing case and two in the focusing case. All these solutions have the property that their modulus is a periodic function of xct for some cR. In this paper we investigate the stability of the small amplitude traveling waves, both in the defocusing and the focusing case. Our first result shows that these waves are orbitally stable within the class of solutions which have the same period and the same Floquet exponent as the original wave. Next, we consider general bounded perturbations and focus on spectral stability. We show that the small amplitude traveling waves are stable in the defocusing case, but unstable in the focusing case. The instability is of side-band type, and therefore cannot be detected in the periodic set-up used for the analysis of orbital stability.  相似文献

In this paper we study dynamics of solitons in the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS) with an external potential in all dimensions except for 2. For a certain class of nonlinearities such an equation has solutions which are periodic in time and exponentially decaying in space, centered near different critical points of the potential. We call those solutions which are centered near the minima of the potential and which minimize energy restricted to L2-unit sphere, trapped solitons or just solitons. In this paper we prove, under certain conditions on the potentials and initial conditions, that trapped solitons are asymptotically stable. Moreover, if an initial condition is close to a trapped soliton then the solution looks like a moving soliton relaxing to its equilibrium position. The dynamical law of motion of the soliton (i.e. effective equations of motion for the soliton's center and momentum) is close to Newton's equation but with a dissipative term due to radiation of the energy to infinity.  相似文献

It is shown that there are plenty of quasi-periodic solutions of nonlinear Schrödinger equations of higher spatial dimension, where the dimension of the frequency vectors of the quasi-periodic solutions are equal to that of the space.  相似文献

We study the global Cauchy problem for nonlinear Schrödinger equations with cubic interactions of derivative type in space dimension n?3n?3. The global existence of small classical solutions is proved in the case where every real part of the first derivatives of the interaction with respect to first derivatives of wavefunction is derived by a potential function of quadratic interaction. The proof depends on the energy estimate involving the quadratic potential and on the endpoint Strichartz estimates.  相似文献

In this article we investigate the possibility of finite time blow-up in H1(R2) for solutions to critical and supercritical nonlinear Schrödinger equations with an oscillating nonlinearity. We prove that despite the oscillations some solutions blow up in finite time. Conversely, we observe that for a given initial data oscillations can extend the local existence time of the corresponding solution.  相似文献

In this study, we use two direct algebraic methods to solve a fourth-order dispersive cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equation, which is used to describe the propagation of optical pulse in a medium exhibiting a parabolic nonlinearity law. By using complex envelope ansatz method, we first obtain a new dark soliton and bright soliton, which may approach nonzero when the time variable approaches infinity. Then a series of analytical exact solutions are constructed by means of F-expansion method. These solutions include solitary wave solutions of the bell shape, solitary wave solutions of the kink shape, and periodic wave solutions of Jacobian elliptic function.  相似文献

Let H(λ)=−Δ+λb be a discrete Schrödinger operator on ?2(Zd) with a potential b and a non-negative coupling constant λ. When b≡0, it is well known that σ(−Δ)=[0,4d]. When b?0, let and be the bounds of the spectrum of the Schrödinger operator. One of the aims of this paper is to study the influence of the potential b on the bounds 0 and 4d of the spectrum of −Δ. More precisely, we give a necessary and sufficient condition on the potential b such that s(−Δ+λb) is strictly positive for λ small enough. We obtain a similar necessary and sufficient condition on the potential b such that M(−Δ+λb) is lower than 4d for λ small enough. In dimensions d=1 and d=2, the situation is more precise. The following result was proved by Killip and Simon (2003) (for d=1) in [5], then by Damanik et al. (2003) (for d=1 and d=2) in [3]:

In this study, we use the spectral collocation method with preconditioning to solve various nonlinear Schrödinger equations. To reduce round-off error in spectral collocation method we use preconditioning. We study the numerical accuracy of the method. The numerical results obtained by this way have been compared with the exact solution to show the efficiency of the method.  相似文献

A five-dimensional symmetry algebra consisting of Lie point symmetries is firstly computed for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, which, together with a reflection invariance, generates two five-parameter solution groups. Three ansätze of transformations are secondly analyzed and used to construct exact solutions to the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Various examples of exact solutions with constant, trigonometric function type, exponential function type and rational function amplitude are given upon careful analysis. A bifurcation phenomenon in the nonlinear Schrödinger equation is clearly exhibited during the solution process.  相似文献
