Magnetic transitions from the paramagnetic state to an incommensurate magnetic structure and then to an ordered phase with long-range antiferromagnetic order in RMn2O5 (R is a rare-earth ion) oxides are analyzed. It is shown that a transition from the paramagnetic to the incommensurate phase is associated with exchange as well as relativistic interactions and can be described, apart from the basic magnetic order parameter, by an associated order parameter (viz., electric polarization along the y axis of the crystal). As a result of such a transition, the emergence of electric polarization in the crystal is not accompanied by a change in crystal symmetry.  相似文献

Lattice match is important for epitaxial growth. We show that a competing mechanism, electronic match, can dominate at small film thicknesses for metal-semiconductor systems, where quantum confinement and symmetry requirements may favor a different growth pattern. For Pb(111) on Ge(111), an accidental lattice match leads to a √3 × √3 configuration involving a 30° in-plane rotation at large film thicknesses, but it gives way to an incommensurate (1 × 1) configuration at small film thickness. The transformation follows an approximately inverse-film-thickness dependence with superimposed bilayer oscillations.  相似文献

The influence of only partially screened Coulomb interactions on the phase diagram and the order parameter of quasi-one dimensional metals is investigated. Using a standard microscopic model, the free energy functional is derived by means of the heat kernel method. It is assumed that the Peierls gap and the mismatch are small compared to the band width and the reciprocal lattice vectors, respectively. Furthermore we neglect interchain to intrachain hopping elements. The resulting mean field phase diagram and the properties of the order parameter are discussed. We show in particular that the Coulomb forces are responsible for:a) a first-order transition between the incommensu-rate and the commensurate phase;b) only small deviations of the order parameter from a single plane wave over the entire incommensurate phase; andc) the approximate temperature independence of the wavelength of the modulation throughout the incommensurate phase. The possible relevance of these results for quasi-one dimensional systems exhibiting nonlinear conduction is pointed out.  相似文献

A simple expression is used for the free energy density with a one-component order parameter, and the boundary conditions at the surfaces of a film of thickness L are given by means of an extrapolation length δ. The manifestation and the role of coupling between order parameter gradient and strains, or equivalently between order parameter and gradient of strains, is reviewed. Dynamical phenomena occurring in perovskites, and in particular in quantum paraelectric phases, evidenced as a coupling between phonon branches at q≠0, and also in several other systems (quartz, Sn2P2Se6, Cs2HgBr4, and other systems satisfying the Lifshitz criterion) in relation with the formation of an incommensurate phase, are presented. Besides, the consequences in relation with domain walls, structure of incommensurate phases, and defects are also discussed.  相似文献

Results of computer simulation of reflective properties of the oxide film-metal system in the process of oxidation in the air environment are presented. The complex refractive indices for oxide film and metal were used as the initial data. Thin films (the thickness is comparable with the wavelength of incident radiation) and thick films (thickness is much larger than the wavelength of incident radiation) are considered. The parameter characterizing the cyclic character of system reflectivity during the growth of film thickness was derived for the thin film. It is shown that the cyclic parameter does not depend on optical properties of a metal substrate. In the air environment, this parameter is determined by a complex refractive index of the film, its thickness, and direction of incident radiation. Relationships for the estimate of system reflectivity in the process of oxide film growth are presented for the thick film.  相似文献

We report clear multiple period oscillations in the temperature dependence of exchange bias in an Fe thin film exchange coupled to a neighboring Cr film. The oscillations arise due to an incommensurate spin-density wave in the Cr, with wave vector perpendicular to the Fe/Cr(001) interface. The exchange bias and coercivity allow for a determination of the extent of the thermally driven wavelength expansion, the (strain-suppressed) spin-flip transition temperature, and the Cr Néel temperature, which show a crossover from bulklike to finite-size behavior at a Cr thickness of approximately 1100 A. The data are consistent with a transition from a transverse to longitudinal wave on cooling.  相似文献

We demonstrate the ability to control the magnetic phase diagram of Cr1-x Vx(110) thin films grown on a W(110) substrate. Using angle-resolved photoemission, we have mapped paramagnetic and commensurate and incommensurate antiferromagnetic phases as a function of temperature, film thickness, and composition. We show that surface-localized electron states play a key role in the observed phase behaviors and suggest from this that it might be possible to control the magnetic phase by applying an external electric field.  相似文献

The relationships describing the nuclear quadrupole resonance spectrum in the vicinity of the transition from the incommensurate phase to the commensurate phase of a crystal are derived in the adiabatic approximation. It is demonstrated that the intensity of the nuclear quadrupole resonance peaks depends on the mutual orientation of the order parameter and the electric field gradient.  相似文献

A phenomenological model for the "hidden order" transition in the heavy-Fermion material URu(2)Si(2) is introduced. The hidden order is identified as an incommensurate, momentum-carrying hybridization between the light hole band and the heavy electron band. This modulated hybridization appears after a Fano hybridization at higher temperatures takes place. We focus on the hybridization wave as the order parameter in URu(2)Si(2) and possibly other materials with similar band structures. The model is qualitatively consistent with numerous experimental results obtained from, e.g., neutron scattering and scanning tunneling microscopy. Specifically, we find a gaplike feature in the density of states and the appearance of features at an incommensurate vector Q(*)~0.6π/a(0). Finally, the model allows us to make various predictions which are amenable to current experiments.  相似文献

We predict an inhomogeneous phase of superfluid (3)He films in which translational symmetry is spontaneously broken in the plane of the film. This phase is energetically favored over a range of film thicknesses, D(c2)(T) < D < D(c1)(T), separating distinct homogeneous superfluid phases. The instability at the critical film thickness, D(c2) approximately 9 xi (T), is a single-mode instability generating striped phase order in the film. Numerical calculations of the order parameter and free energy indicate a second-order instability to a periodic lattice of degenerate B-like phases separated by domain walls at D(c1) approximately 13 xi (T).  相似文献

As a special order of electronic correlation induced by spatial modulation, the charge density wave (CDW) phenomena in condensed matters attract enormous research interests. Here, using scanning—tunneling microscopy in various temperatures, we discover a hidden incommensurate stripe-like CDW order besides the ($sqrt{7}$ × $sqrt{3}$) CDW phase at low-temperature of 4 K in the epitaxial monolayer 1T-VSe2} film. Combining the variable-temperature angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopic (ARPES) measurements, we discover a two-step transition of an anisotropic CDW gap structure that consists of two parts Δ1 and Δ2. The gap part Δ1 that closes around ~ 150 K is accompanied with the vanish of the ($sqrt{7}$ × $sqrt{3}$) CDW phase. While another momentum-dependent gap part Δ2 can survive up to ~ 340 K, and is suggested to the result of the incommensurate CDW phase. This two-step transition with anisotropic gap opening and the resulted evolution in ARPES spectra are corroborated by our theoretical calculation based on a phenomenological form for the self-energy containing a two-gap structure Δ1 + Δ2, which suggests different forming mechanisms between the ($sqrt{7}$ × $sqrt{3}$) and the incommensurate CDW phases. Our findings provide significant information and deep understandings on the CDW phases in monolayer 1T-VSe2} film as a two-dimensional (2D) material.  相似文献

The critical behavior of thin FeCo films grown on MgO has been studied using phase-sensitive synchrotron x-ray diffraction. These studies unravel several novel features of criticality in thin films, as the simultaneous appearance of the 3D-2D crossover and the truncation of the correlation length normal to the film at approximately 1/3 of the film thickness. Above the critical temperature of the film we observe a pronounced pinning of the order parameter at the MgO-FeCo interface, which indicates a novel critical adsorption behavior.  相似文献

在对椭圆偏振测量的基本原理进行了简单介绍和推导后,讨论了椭圆偏振测量中椭偏参数关于薄膜参数的灵敏度以及入射角对椭偏参数的影响,并进行了具体的仿真分析,得到如下结论:椭偏参数Delta对薄膜光学常数和薄膜厚度变化的灵敏度明显高于椭偏参数Psi。在椭偏数据处理中,椭偏参数Delta的测量精度直接影响薄膜光学常数和薄膜厚度的拟合精度。为了提高椭偏参数Delta的测量精度,可以选择入射角在膺布儒斯特角附近。所得结论对高精度椭偏测量具有指导意义。  相似文献

Mechanical quality factor Qm is a key characteristic parameter of High-overtone bulk acoustic resonator(HBAR). The effects of structure parameter(thickness) and perfor?mance parameters(characteristic impedance and mechanical attenuation factor) of substrate,piezoelectric film and electrode constituting HBAR on Qm are carried out. The relationships between Qm and these parameters are obtained by a lumped parameter equivalent circuit instead of distributed parameter equivalent circuit near the resonance frequency, and the an?alytical expressions oi Qm are given. The results show that Qm increases non-monotonically with the continuous increase of the substrate thickness for HBAR with certain piezoelectric film thickness, and it approaches to the substrate material mechanical quality factor as the substrate thickness is large. Qm decreases wavily with the continuous increase of the piezoelectric film thickness for HBAR with certain substrate thickness. Sapphire and YAG with low mechanical loss are appropriate as the substrate to get a larger Qm- The electrode loss must be considered since it can reduce Qm- Compared with Au electrode, A1 electrode with lower loss can obtain higher Qm when the appropriate electrode thickness is selected. In addition, Qm decreases with the increase of frequency. These results provide the theoretical basis for optimizing the parameters of HBAR and show that trade-oflFs between Qm and must be considered in the design because their changes are often inconsistent.  相似文献

高次谐波体声波谐振器HBAR (High-overtone Bulk Acoustic Resonator)由基底、压电薄膜和上下电极组成,系统地研究了它们的结构参数(厚度)和性能参数(特性阻抗)对HBAR的重要性能参数有效机电耦合系数Keff2的影响。在谐振频率附近,通过将HBAR的分布参数等效电路简化为集总参数等效电路得到了它们之间的关系表达式,分析了Keff2在所关心频率最近谐振点的变化情况。结果表明,保持压电薄膜厚度不变,连续增加基底厚度,Keff2呈振荡(非单调)下降,当基底厚度达到一定值时Keff2与厚度成反比下降;保持基底厚度不变,连续增加压电薄膜厚度,Keff2的峰值随基底和压电层的特性阻抗之比增加快速下降,到达极小值后缓慢增加;选择低阻抗的熔融石英作为基底可以获得较大的Keff2;与Al电极相比,Au电极选择适当厚度可以获得较高的Keff2。上述揭示的一些规律为HBAR的优化设计提供了理论依据。  相似文献

This paper presents a theoretical method to calculate the surface energy dependence on thickness of nanofilms based on the Landau theory. For the first time, it is shown that the surface energy of thin films having free surfaces is greater than the surface energy of macroscopic objects. For nano-objects having free surfaces, it is stated that their interior order parameter is always less than that of macroscopic solids of the same composition. It is obtained that the surface energy of thin films increases with decrease in their thickness passing its maximum meaning. A further decrease in the solid film thickness leads to a monotonic decrease in the surface energy.  相似文献

Spinel lithium ferrite LiFe5O8 (LFO) has attracted robust research interests due to their potential applications in isolators, circulators, and phase shifters. In this work, a series of LFO thin film with various thickness were fabricated on SrTiO3 (STO) single-crystalline substrates by pulsed laser deposition technology. We systematically investigated the influences of the thickness of LFO thin film on the crystal structure and magnetic properties. The in-plane lattice parameter a and in-plane lattice parameter c were modulated by controlling the thickness of LFO thin film, which was confirmed using reciprocal space mappings (RSMs) technology. Furthermore, the microwave magnetism of LFO thin film with various thickness were studied systematically by ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) measurement. Moreover, with increasing the thickness of LFO thin film from 50 to 180 nm, the difference of the ferromagnetic resonance field between easy- and hard-magnetization axis can be enhanced and reach to 330 Oe. These results illustrate that dynamic magnetic properties can be controlled by tuning the thickness of LFO thin film. Our work provides an effective method to tailor the lattice parameter and modify the magnetic properties of the LFO thin film and contributes to further design high-frequency functional device.  相似文献

The magnetic phase transitions in RMn2O5 oxides were analyzed. It was shown that the transition from the paramagnetic phase to the incommensurate phase is described by not only the basic magnetic parameter but also an associated order parameter: electric polarization along the y axis of the crystal. It was established that the antiferromagnetic-incommensurate phase transformation is a second-order phase transition, accompanied by a decrease in electric polarization.  相似文献
