We introduce a class of Schur type functions associated with polynomial sequences of binomial type. This can be regarded as a generalization of the ordinary Schur functions and the factorial Schur functions. This generalization satisfies some interesting expansion formulas, in which there is a curious duality. Moreover, this class includes examples which are useful to describe the eigenvalues of Capelli type central elements of the universal enveloping algebras of classical Lie algebras.   相似文献

According to the present state of the theory of the matroid parity problem, the existence of a good characterization to the size of a maximum matching depends on the behavior of certain substructures, called double circuits. In this paper we prove that if a polymatroid has no double circuits then a partition type min-max formula characterizes the size of a maximum matching. Applications to parity constrained orientations and to a rigidity problem are given. We give a tauberian theorem for boundary values of analytic functions. We prove that if is the distributional limit of the analytic function F defined in a region of the form (a, b) × (0, R), if F (x 0iy)→ γ as y → 0+, and if f is distributionally bounded at xx 0, then f (x 0) = γ distributionally. As a consequence of our tauberian theorem, we obtain a new proof of a tauberian theorem of Hardy and Littlewood. Received: 10 December 2007  相似文献

Our main result shows that subspaces of L1([0, 1]) on which the blow-up operators act compactly are isometric to dual spaces, and their natural predual belongs to the Banach-Mazur closure of quotient spaces of . Related general results are shown for subspaces X of or of reflexive K?the function spaces, which imply that when X consists of smooth functions it embeds into a Banach space with an unconditional basis. . First we give certain polylogarithmic interpolation formulas of the results of Mordell, Subbarao-Sitaramachandrarao and Zagier. By specializing to x = 1, we can obtain their results. This note is concerned with the unipotent characters of the Ree groups of type G 2. We determine the roots of unity associated by Lusztig and Digne-Michel to each unipotent character for and prove that the Fourier matrix of defined by Geck and Malle satisfies a conjecture of Digne-Michel. Bohr showed that the width of the strip (in the complex plane) on which a given Dirichlet series , converges uniformly but not absolutely, is at most 1/2, and Bohnenblust-Hille that this bound in general is optimal. We prove that for a given infinite dimensional Banach space Y the width of Bohr’s strip for a Dirichlet series with coefficients a n in Y is bounded by 1 - 1/Cot (Y), where Cot (Y) denotes the optimal cotype of Y. This estimate even turns out to be optimal, and hence leads to a new characterization of cotype in terms of vector valued Dirichlet series. We construct infinite planar graphs of arbitrarily large connectivity and girth, and study their separation properties. These graphs have no thick end but continuum many thin ones. Every finite cycle separates them, but they corroborate Diestel’s conjecture that everyk-connected locally finite graph contains a possibly infinite cycle — see [3] — whose deletion leaves it (k — 3)-connected.  相似文献

We study the Nevanlinna-Pick problem for a class of subalgebras of H . This class includes algebras of analytic functions on embedded disks, the algebras of finite codimension in H and the algebra of bounded analytic functions on a multiply connected domain. Our approach uses a distance formula that generalizes Sarason’s [23] work. We also investigate the difference between scalar-valued and matrix-valued interpolation through the use of C *-envelopes. In this paper we establish the multiplicity of positive solutions to second-order superlinear repulsive singular Neumann boundary value problems. It is proved that such a problem has at least two positive solutions under reasonable conditions. Our nonlinearity may be repulsive singular in its dependent variable and superlinear at infinity. The proof relies on a nonlinear alternative of Leray-Schauder type and on Krasnoselskii fixed point theorem on compression and expansion of cones.   相似文献

Suppose that X and Y are Banach spaces isomorphic to complemented subspaces of each other. In 1996, W. T. Gowers solved the Schroeder-Bernstein Problem for Banach spaces by showing that X is not necessarily isomorphic to Y. However, if X 2 is complemented in X with supplement A and Y 2 is complemented in Y with supplement B, that is,
then the classical Pełczyński’s decomposition method for Banach spaces shows that X is isomorphic to Y whenever we can assume that AB = {0}. But unfortunately, this is not always possible. In this paper, we show that it is possible to find all finite relations of isomorphism between A and B which guarantee that X is isomorphic to Y. In order to do this, we say that a quadruple (p, q, r, s) in is a P-Quadruple for Banach spaces if X is isomorphic to Y whenever the supplements A and B satisfy . Then we prove that (p, q, r, s) is a P-Quadruple for Banach spaces if and only if p − r = s − q = ±1. Received: 3 September 2007  相似文献
