The conformational potential energy surface as a function of the two internal torsion angles in C-nitrosomethanol has been obtained using the semiempirical AM1 method. Optimized geometries are reported for the local minima on this surface and also for the corresponding points on the HF/6-31G, 6-31G*, and 6-31G** surfaces. All methods predict cis and trans minima which occur in degenerate pairs, each pair being connected by a transition state of Cs symmetry. The AM1 structures are found to compare well with the corresponding ab initio structures. Ab initio HF/6-31G and HF/6-31G* harmonic vibrational frequencies are reported for the cis and trans forms of nitrosomethanol. When scaled appropriately the calculated frequencies are found to compare well with experimental frequencies. The ab initio calculations predict the energy barrier for cis → trans isomerization to be between 5.8 and 6.5 kcal/mol with the trans → cis isomerization barrier lying between 2.3 and 6.5 kcal/mol. The corresponding AM1 energy barriers are around 1 kcal/mol lower in energy. The ab initio calculations predict the barrier to conversion between the two cis rotamers to be very small with the AM1 value being around 1 kcal/mol. Both AM1 and ab initio calculations predict interconversion between trans rotamers to require between 1.2 and 1.4 kcal/mol.  相似文献

We have carried out free energy perturbation calculations on the relative solvation free energy of cis- and trans-N-methyl-acetamide (NMA). Experimentally, the solvation free energy difference has been found to be near zero. Using 6-31G* ab initio electrostatic potential derived charges for both the cis and trans conformations, we calculate a solvation free energy difference of 0.1 ± 0.1 kcal/mol. Using the 6-31G* charges derived for the trans conformation for both the cis and trans models leads to a solvation free energy difference of 0.9 ± 0.1 kcal/mol, compared to the value of 2.2 kcal/mol determined for the OPLS model for trans-NMA.  相似文献

Ab initio SCF calculations of cis- and trans-stilbene at different conformations were performed using two program systems. Minimal energy is obtained for cis-stilbene when the phenyl rings are rotated by 52 ° out of the molecular plane. The deviation from planarity due to steric hindrance is smaller for the trans isomer yielding a rotational angle of 19 °. The trans isomer is calculated to be more stable by 5.7 kcal/mole than the cis isomer, confirming the experimental estimate according to which the energy of isomerization is about 3 kcal/mole. This is an improvement over semiempirical calculations which predict a lower energy for the trans configuration.  相似文献

The singlet and triplet potential energy surfaces (PES) for the isomerization and dissociation reactions of B4 isomers have been investigated using ab initio methods. Ten B4 isomers have been identified and of these 10 species, 4 have not been reported previously. The singlet rhombic structure 11 is found to be the most stable on the B4 surface, in agreement with the results of previous reports. Several isomerization and dissociation pathways have been found. On the singlet PES, the linear 13b can rearrange to rhombus 11 directly, while 13c rearranges to 11 through two‐step reactions involving a cyclic intermediate. On the triplet PES, the capped triangle structure 32 undergoes ring opening to the linear isomer 33b with a barrier of 34.8 kcal/mol and 44.9 kcal/mol, and the latter undergoes ring closure to the square structure 31 with a barrier of 30.4 kcal/mol and 33.0 kcal/mol at the MP4/6–311+G(3df)//MP2/6–311G(d) and CCSD/aug‐cc‐pVTZ//MP2/6–311G(d) levels of theory, respectively. The direct decomposition of singlet B4 yielding to B3+B is shown to have a large endothermicity of 87.3 kcal/mol (CCSD), and that producing 2B2 to have activation energy of 133.4 kcal/mol (CCSD).  相似文献

The potential energy surface for the insertion of singlet methylene into H2 has been computed on theab initio SCF level as well as with inclusion of electron correlation by means of the CEPA method. The results are compared with those of previous semiempirical,ab initio SCF and CI calculations. The system is a prototype of a reaction where an allowed and a symmetry-forbidden path can compete. The electron correlation energy was found to be very different for different regions of the surface, but did not have much influence on the optimum reaction path. From the computed heat of the reaction, the heat of formation of singlet methylene was estimated to be 101.5 kcal/mol. According to the calculations the reaction does not need any activation energy.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations on the structure and geometry of the three isomers of N2H2 (trans-diimide, cis-diimide, and 1,1-dihydrodiazine) were performed both on HF and CI level using gaussian basis sets with polarization functions. The trans and cis isomers have singlet ground states; the trans isomer is found to be lower in energy than the cis isomer by 6.9 kcal/mol (HF) and 5.8 kcal/mol (CI), respectively. The barrier for the trans-cis isomerization is predicted to be 56 (HF) and 55 (CI) kcal/mol. H2 N=N has a triplet ground state with a non-planar equilibrium geometry and a rather long NN bond of 1.34 Å. Its lowest singlet state, however, is planar with an NN double bond of 1.22 Å; it is found to lie about 3 kcal/mol above the triplet and 26 kcal/mol above the singlet ground state of trans-diimide.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations are reported on the energies, geometries, vibrational frequencies, and ionization potentials of the H2C2S2 isomers: 1,2-dithiete, cis-dithioglyoxal, and trans-dithioglyoxal. In contrast to most earlier computations, the results of this work indicate that 1,2-dithiete and cis-dithioglyoxal lie close in energy (within 3 kcal/mol) with the dithial more stable. Trans-dithioglyoxal is found to be 4.1 kcal/mol more stable than the cis isomer and faces a barrier to internal rotation of 5.5 kcal/mol. The predicted rotational constants for 1,2-dithiete agree within ~0.05 GHz with the experimentally observed values thus lending credence to the predictions for cis-dithioglyoxal (Ae 14.30683, Be 2.46324, Ce 2.10143 GHz). Vibrational frequencies are given as potential aids to the identification of these molecules. 6-31G* ΔSCF calculations predict that at low energies (8 to 13 eV) the photoelectron spectra of 1,2-dithiete, cis-dithioglyoxal and trans-dithioglyoxal should be similar.  相似文献

A refined Lanthanide‐Induced‐Shift Analysis (LISA) is used with molecular mechanics and ab initio calculations to investigate the conformations of benzamide ( 1 ), N‐methylbenzamide ( 2 ), N,N‐dimethylbenzamide ( 3 ) and the conformational equilibria of 2‐fluoro ( 4 ), 2‐chloro ( 5 ) and N‐methyl‐2‐methoxy benzamide ( 6 ). The amino group in 1 is planar in the crystal but is calculated to be pyramidal with the CO/phenyl torsional angle (ω) of 20–25°. The LISA analysis gave acceptable agreement factors (Rcryst ≤ 1%) for the ab initio geometries when ω was decreased to 0°, the other geometries were not as good. In 2 , the N‐methyl is coplanar with the carbonyl group in all the geometries. Good agreement was obtained for the RHF geometries, with ω 25°, the other geometries were only acceptable with increased values of ω. In 3 , good agreement for the RHF and PCModel geometries was found when ω was changed from the calculated values of 40° (RHF) and 90° (PCModel) to ca. 60°, the X‐ray and B3LYP geometries were not as good. The two substituted compounds 4 , 5 and 6 are interconverting between the cis (O,X) and trans (O,X) conformers. The more stable trans conformer is planar in 4 and 6 but the cis form non‐planar. Both the cis and trans conformers of 5 are non‐planar. There is an additional degree of freedom in 6 due to the 2‐methoxy group, which can be either planar or orthogonal to the phenyl ring in both conformers. The conformer ratios were obtained from the LISA analysis to give Ecis‐Etrans in 4 > 2.3 kcal/mol (CDCl3) and 1.7 kcal/mol (CD3CN), in 5 0.0 kcal/mol (CD3CN) and in 6 > 2.5 kcal/mol (CDCl3) and 2.0 kcal/mol (CD3CN). These values were used with the observed versus calculated 1H shifts to determine the conformer ratios and energies in DMSO solvent to give Ecis‐Etrans 1.1, ?0.1 and 1.8 kcal/mol for ( 4 ), ( 5 ) and ( 6 ). Comparison of the observed versus calculated conformer energies show that both the MM and ab initio calculations overestimate the NH..F hydrogen bond in ( 4 ) by ca. 2 kcal/mol. Summary.  Thermal one- and two-bond dissociation processes of cis- and trans-azomethane were studied by ab initio computation with DZP and TZ2P basis sets, using the d(N–C) bond lengths as the reaction coordinates. The geometries were optimized at the MP2 level, and the dissociation energies obtained exploiting a single-point, fourth-order M?ller–Plesset calculations [MP4SDTQ/TZ2P]. At this level of theory including zero-point energies, the trans-isomer is by 9.3 kcal/mol more stable than the cis-isomer. The results show that the energetically more favourable one-bond cleavage proceeds without transition state with the predicted bond dissociation energy D 0 of 47.8 kcal/mol for trans-azomethane and 38.5 kcal/mol for cis-azomethane. With calculated barrier heights the unimolecular dissociation rate constants have been determined by means of the RRKM theory. The second-order saddle points localized for synchronous decomposition pathways lie 13 (trans)-23(cis) kcal/mol above the one-bond dissociation energies [MP2/DZP]. The neutral, cationic, and anionic structures of both prototropic tautomers oftrans- andcis-urocanic acid [(E)- and (Z)-3-(1H-imidazol-4(5)-yl)propenoic acid, respectively] were studied by using semiempirical andab initio gas-phase calculations. Potential energy surfaces of the structures were calculated by using the semiempirical AM1 method, and the geometries corresponding to global minima on these surfaces were optimized up to the MP2/6-31G* level of theory. The calculated protonation forms of each urocanic acid isomer have a planar molecular structure due to a delocalized -electron system, and all of them prefer thes-trans conformation with respect to the bond between the imidazole and the propenoic acid moieties. Thecis-urocanic acid structures are stabilized by an intramolecular hydrogen bond. The chargedcis-urocanic acid isomers have a lower molecular energy than the correspondingtrans-isomers, whereas the neutral molecules have, after inclusion of thermodynamic corrections, approximately the same energy. The cationic urocanic acid structures have about 2500 kJ mol–1 lower energy than the anionic ones and about 1000 kJ mol–1 lower energy than the neutral ones. The nonzwitterionic forms of the neutral urocanic acid isomers have about 200 kJ mol–1 lower energy than the zwitterionic ones. These energy differences are explained by the proton affinities of the imidazole and the propenoic acid moieties of the urocanic acid structures.  相似文献

Donor-acceptor pairs form EDA complexes that exist as conformational isomers exhibiting different ground-state and photochemical properties. We have sought a rapid, general, and accurate quantum mechanical computational method to generate potential energy surfaces that are representative of the donor-acceptor intermolecular interactions at the self-consistent field (SCF) level. The semiempirical molecular orbital (MO) method MNDO has been compared to ab initio methods to assess its behavior with respect to energy, dipole moment and ionization potential shifts. MNDO correctly distinguishes between repulsive and bound EDA complex states at the SCF level and produces potential curves that are smooth and free of spurious minima or cusps. MNDO curves are systematically more repulsive than those for ab initio STO-3G calculations; calculated interaction energies exhibit a mean absolute deviation of 2.90 kcal/mol. MNDO appears to provide a reliable qualitative estimate of the nondispersion portion of the interaction energy. Limitations and errors arising from minimal basis sets, single determinants, and neglect of dispersion are discussed.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations on vinyldifluoroborane yield a -contribution of 23 kJ/mol (5.5 kcal/mol) mainly due to the C=C bond and not to the lone pairs of the fluorine atoms. The rotational barrier was also determined. The force field calculations favour the interpretation of the bond structure derived from the theab initio results.

Summary The relative stabilities of syn- and anti-isomers of 2-substituted furan and thiophene carbonyl derivatives are investigated by theab initio MO method. The energy differences between the rotamers are 1–3 kcal mol–1 but the barriers to rotation are ca. 10 kcal mol–1 so that free rotational mode is predicted to be a rather difficult process. Application of the self-consistent reaction field (SCRF) method to account for the solvent effect indicates that the isomer with a higher dipole moment (syn) is favored in solution. An electron withdrawing 2-substituent favors syn-isomers for furan carbonyls in contrast to thiophene carbonyls for which anti-isomers are favored. These trends are ascribable to a decrease in electrostatic repulsive and attractive interactions, respectively, in the syn forms of furan and thiophene carbonyls. Contribution of non-bonded repulsive interaction in the anti-isomer is important for the relative stability of the syn-isomer of furan carbonyl derivative. Solvent effects due to higher dielectric continuum are small on the absolute values of energy differences but can reverse the order of stability of the two isomers due to a greater stability acquired by an isomer (syn) with higher dipole moment in solution. The major factor determining stability, or instability, of syn-isomer is a repulsive electrostatic interaction between the two oxygen atoms for furan carbonyls and an attractive electrostatic interaction between the sulfur and oxygen atoms for thiophene carbonyls.  相似文献

Summary A scheme of the basis set superposition error (BSSE) correction is first proposed and introduced to determine theab initio energy of the homodesmic reaction for the resonance energy of benzene. Calculations with 6-31G*(5D) and 6-31G*(6D) basis sets at the complete fourth-order Møller-Plesset perturbation level furnish the energy value of 21.35 kcal/mol after the correction, which is in complete agreement with the experimental value of 21.3±0.2 kcal/mol. The energy values at the lower theoretical levels are generally underestimated but they are superior to the uncorrected values. The inclusion of triple excitations displays the dominant contribution of the correlation energy. Detailed analysis of the results reveals some of the similarities between the homodesmic reaction of benzene and the interaction of van der Waals molecule, which provides further justification of the BSSE correction scheme presented in this study.  相似文献

A new form of the asymmetric cis isomer of the nitric oxide dimer, a cyclic parallelogram, has been found and characterized as the second most stable conformation by ab initio computational methods. Optimum equilibrium geometries, energetics, and harmonic frequencies are computed for the cyclic structure and the more common symmetric cis and trans isomers at the levels of second-order perturbation theory (MP2) and coupled-cluster theory limited to double excitations (CCD) using the 6-311G(2d) and 6-311+G(2d) basis sets. Single-point, more highly correlated calculations are then performed at these CCD optimum geometries. In addition, second-order geometries and frequencies are computed using the larger 6-311G(3df) basis, and single-point MP2 calculations are performed at these geometries using the Aug-cc-pVTZ and Aug-cc-pVQZ basis sets. At the highest levels of theory considered, the cyclic isomer lies within 17 kJ/mol of the symmetric cis global minimum and is more stable than the often-studied symmetric trans conformation.  相似文献

The structures, energetics, spectral parameters and stability of the singlet SiCP2 isomers are explored at the density functional theory and ab initio levels. Eight isomers connected by ten interconversion transition states are located at the CCSD(T)/6-311G(2d)//B3LYP/6-311G(d)level. The kinetically stable isomers and their relevant interconversion transition states are further refined at CCSD(T)/6-311+G(2df)//QCISD/6-311G(d) level. At QCISD/6-311G(d) level, one four-membered ring isomer cSiPCP and two linear structures PSiCP, SiCPP possess considerable kinetic stability (more than 15 kcal/mol). The valence bond structures of three kinetically stable SiCP2 isomers are analyzed. The similarities and discrepancies in structure, energy and stability between SiCP2 and its analogous C2P2, Si2P2, SiCN2 and CSiNP molecules are also discussed. The predicted structures and spectroscopic properties are expected to be informative for the identification of the SiCP2 in the laboratory and space.  相似文献

Ab initio SCF calculations at the HF/3-21G level and semi-empirical MNDO calculations have been used to locate the stationary points on the CF2N2 energy surface. Perfluorodiazomethane is predicted to be most stable isomer, but perfluorodiazirine is predicted to lie only ca 41 kJ higher in energy at the SCF level. There are significant differences between the ab initio and MNDO results for the ordering of some of the isomers. Frequency calculations give results in good agreement with the limited experimental data on these molecules.  相似文献

Pentacoordination of carbon atom in bicyclic organic compounds of the pentalene type was studied by theab initio RHF/6-31G** and MP2(full)/6-31G** methods. It was shown that intramolecularS N 2 reactions with energy barriers within the energy scale of NMR spectroscopy can occur in systems in which a linear orientation of the attacking and leaving groups is realized. The barrier to the intramolecular nucleophilic substitution reaction in 2,3-dihydro-3-formylmethylenefuran is 36.9 (RHF) and 27.7 kcal mol−1 (MP2) and decreases to 16.4 and 19.4 kcal mol−1, respectively, in the case of diprotonation at the O atoms in this system. For model pentalene type compounds containing electron-deficient B atoms in the ring, theab initio calculations predict a further decrease in the barrier height (down to less than 10 kcal mol−1). The potential energy surface of HPO2 system including eight isomers and twelve transition states is predicated at MP2/6-311++G(d, p) and QCISD(t)/6-311++G(3df,2p)(single-point) levels of theory. On the potential energy surface, cis-HOPO(E1) is found to be thermodynamically and kinetically most stable isomer followed by trans-HOPO(E2) and HPO(O)(C2v, E3) at 10.99 and 48.36 kJ/mol higher, respectively. Based on the potential energy surface, only E1 and E3 are thermodynamically stable isomers, and should be experimentally observable. The products cis-HPOO(E5) and trans-HPOO(E6) in the first-step reaction of HP with O2 can isomerize into isomer E1 that has higher stability. The reaction of OH with PO will directly lead to the formation of isomer E1. The computed results are well consistent with the previous experimental studies.  相似文献

The oxidation of the trans, cis‐( 2 ) and trans, trans‐epoxides ( 3 ) of differently substituted (Z)‐3‐arylidene‐1‐thioflavan‐4‐ones ( 1 ) with dimethyldioxirane (DMD) yielded the appropriate sulfoxides ( 4, 5 ) and sulfones ( 6, 7 ). The structures were elucidated by the extensive application of one‐ and two‐dimensional 1H, 13C and 17O NMR spectroscopy. The conformational analysis was achieved by the application of 3J(C,H) coupling constants, NOESY responses and ab initio calculations. The preferred ground‐state conformers (twisted envelope‐A, twisted envelope‐B for 6 and twisted envelope‐A, envelope‐B for 7 ) were obtained as global minima of the theoretical ab initio MO study and also the examination of the 17O and 13C chemical shifts, calculated for the global minima structures of the sulfone isomers by the GIAO method. Analogous results, obtained for the sulfoxide isomers ( 4, 5 ), not only led to the preferred conformers but also gave evidence for the trans arrangement of the 2‐Ph group and the oxygen atom of the S?O group. Chemical shift differences between the isomers, sulfoxides and sulfones were corroborated by ab initio calculations of the anisotropic effects of the oxirane ring and the S?O and SO2 groups.
