J/ψ production at 40 GeV/c by π±, K±, p and p incident on hydrogen has been studied and results compared with those obtained on tungsten in the same experiment. On hydrogen, J/ψ cross-section ratios relative to π? have been measured to be (for xF > 0) σ(π?) : σ(π+) : σ(p) : σ(p) = 1 : (0.78 ± 0.09) : (0.83 ± 0.35) : (0.07 ± 0.04). The suppression of the proton induced cross sections shows the importance of calence quark-antiquark fusiin J/ψ production at this energy (i.e. MJ2/ψ/s=0.13).  相似文献

We report the evidence for a narrow charged peak (5.5 s.d.), which we suggest calling the I, in the 6-prong-V0 topology of pp interactions at 12 GeV/c. The mass, widht and the product of cross section σI times the branching ratio BR into the final state (Ksoτ±τ+τ? are found to be: MI=2.60 ± 0.01 GeV/c2, ΓI?0.018 GeV/c2, σI·BR≈20 μbarn  相似文献

Double-scattering effects are studied in π?d interactions at 360 GeV/c. The partial cross sections σN?d), σN(“π?p”) and σN(“π?n”) are presented. The double-scattering probability per πd collision is found to be ? = 0.15 ± 0.02. We have extracted the partial cross section XN of the double-scattering plus interference contributions, and find that XN obeys KNO scaling. High resolution spectra of the ν3 band of methane, 12CH4, were recorded by using a “third generation vacuum Fourier interferometer”; a large pressure range (from 0.009 to 10 Torr) with a sample path fixed at eight meters was used, enabling observation of transitions with intensity ratios as low as 110 000. More than 350 forbidden transitions of the ν3 band, including about 125 transitions of the Q+ branch, were unambiguously identified. Of the 277 transitions retained for computations, one-hundred have 11 ≤ J ≤ 16. From combination difference relations using pairs of transitions having the same upper state energy level (forbidden-allowed and forbidden-forbidden pairs were used), 276 independent differences between ground state energy levels could be determined with uncertainties of about 0.001 cm?1.These data yielded the following values for the ground state structure constants of 12CH4 along with their standard deviations (in cm?1): βohc=5.2410356±0.0000096, γohc=(?1±0.00074) 10?4, πohc=(5.78±0.18) 10?9, ?ohc=(?1.4485±0.0023) 10?6, ?ohc=(1.768±0.126) 10?10, ξohc=(?1.602±0.067) 10?11, Thus, for the first time, the scalar constant π0 has been evaluated and ir values have been obtained for the two tetrahedral constants ?0 and ξ0; furthermore, these values are in very good agreement with the ones recently determined from radiofrequency data, i.e., in cm?1: ?ohc=(?1.45061±0.00014) 10?6, ?ohc=(1.7634±0.0068) 10?10, ξohc=(?1.5432±0.0040) 10?11 From these values, the 276 differences can be reproduced with an overall rms deviation equal to 0.0009 cm?1.Finally, the ground state energies of 12CH4 have been calculated for J ≤ 16.  相似文献

A search for the existence of the tetraneutron has been made using the double charge exchange reaction π? + 208Pb4n + π++ residuals for 4n production and the capture process in the same target, 208Pb + 4n212Pb + γ, for the 4n detection. No event has been found, giving an upper limit for the product of the production cross section σp, the detection cross section σd and the 4n lifetime τ. Assuming 10?18τ ≦ 10?9 sec it follows that σpσdτ ≦ 2.5 × 10?65cm4 sec with 90 % confidence, and for τ ≧ 10?9sec, σpσd ≦ 2.5 × 10?56cm4 with 90 % confidence. The magnitude of this value is comparable to the experimental limit of the 4He(π?, π+)4n cross section.  相似文献

Atom transport in high-purity tin single crystals due to the influence of large direct currents has been measured by the “vacancy flux” technique. Cylindrical specimens were selected with c-axis oriented with 9° perpendicular or parallel to the direction of current flow. Rates of both longitudinal and transverse dimensional changes were used to calculate the anode-directed atom drift velocity. The results gave Z16?6 = ?18±2 and z1? = ?18 ±2, where Z1 is the effective charge number and ?6 = 0.89 and ? = 0.54 are the estimated correlation factors in the parallel and perpendicular directions. These values for Z1 are appreciably smaller than the results reported earlier for polycrystalline tin by Kuz'memko. The activation energies for Z1? agree within experimental error with those of self-diffusion.  相似文献

Electron spin resonance relaxation times were measured for the radiation induced radical ion SeO43? in selenium doped KDP single crystals. The spin-lattice relaxation time was found to obey the relation T1R?1 = AT + BT50θ2T x4csch2x dx from 7 K to 200 K except in the neighborhood of the transition temperature where the data fit the expression T1?1 = T1R?1b±T ? Tcm± where θ is the Debye temperature and the plus and minus signs refer to data at temperatures above and below Tc respectively.  相似文献

Forty Ω? events have been observed in a large (133 events/βb) experiment at 4.2 GeV/c incident K? momentum. Thirty nine of the events come from the three-body reaction K?p→Ω?K+K0. The Ω? is mainly produced in the forward hemisphere (direction of the incident K?). The lifetime is measured to be τ = (0.75 +0.14?0.11 × 10?10 sec substantially less than the Particle Data Group value of (1.3 ?0.3+0.2) × 10?10 sec. The mass is determined to be 1671.7 ± 0.6 MeV, in good agreement with other determinations. The decay asymmetry parameter α (for the decay mode Ω? → ΛK?) is found to be ?0.2 ± 0.4.  相似文献

We report the first observation of the decay ?′→?π+π?l+l?π+π?. The 7 events seen yield a branching ratio B(?′→+π?)=(19±8)%. A consistent value of B=(26±13)% is obtained from the charged multiplicities of the ?′ and ? decays. Using these values we deduce Γtot(?′)=(31+10?8) keV and Bee(?′)=(1.8±0.5)%. Furthermore we estimate Γ(?′→gg?)=(10±5) keV in agreement with QCD predictions using vector gluons while one would expect 100 keV with scalar gluons.  相似文献

High spin states of 57Co have been studied via prompt γ-ray spectroscopy in the reactions 48Ti(12C, p2n) and 54Fe(α, p) at 26–48 MeV and 12–24 MeV, respectively. The energies and decay modes of these levels were determined from the analysis of γ-ray singles and γ-γ coincidence spectra, excitation functions, angular distributions and correlations. The relevant lifetimes were measured by the Doppler-shift attenuation method. The new levels established in this work are at 4037, 4814 and 5918 keV with the most probable Jπ assignment of 152?, if 172? and 192?, respectively. The previously known level at 2524 keV was assigned to have Jπ = 132?. These together with the known 92?(1224 keV) and 112?(1690 keV) levels constitute the yrast states of 57Co. The measured lifetimes of the above six levels are (in order of increasing energies) 0.085±0.030, 0.32±0.10, 0.16±0.06, 0.10?0.07+0.06, 1.5?0.54 and 0.17?0.07+0.08 ps, respectively. From the angular distributions of γ-rays emitted by oriented 129gTe and 129mTe nuclei implanted in iron by isotope separator, unique spin assignments could be made for the excited states of 129I at 487.4 keV (52+), 696.0 keV (112+), 729.6 keV (92+), 768.9 keV (72+), 1050.4 keV (72+) and 1111.8 keV (52+). In addition, E2/M1 amplitude ratios for the following 129I γ-rays (energies are in keV) are derived: δ(459.6) = ?(0.076+0.037?0.148); δ(487.4) = 0.50+0.17?0.10 or δ? = 0.35+0.15?0.09; δ(556.7) = 0.06±0.02 or δ? = ?(0.10±0.02); δ(624.4) = 0.10±0.26 or δ? > 0.4; the 696.0 keV γ-ray is pure E2; δ(729.6) = ?(0.34±0.06) or δ?1 = 0.55±0.05; δ(741.1) = ?(0.27±0.10) or δ?1 = ?(0.43±0.12); δ(817.2) = 0.46±0.04 or δ?1 =0.20±0.03 if Iπ (845 keV) = 72+; δ(1022.6) = ?(0.02 ±0.02) or δ?1 = ?(0.23±0.02); δ(1084) = 0.56 +0.04?0.14; δ(1111.8) = 0.06±0.05 or δ?1 = ?(0.08±0.05). The anisotropy of the 531.8 keV γ-ray excludes 12+ as a possible spin assignment for the 559.6 keV level, so that no 12+ level is fed in the decay from 129Te. Anisotropies for the 209, 250.7, 278.4 and 281.1 keV γ-rays are also measured. Comparison of the level scheme is made with theoretical predictions from both the pairing-plus-quadrupole model and the intermediate coupling unified model.  相似文献

The inclusive production of Ξ+ and Ξ? hyperons is investigated in K+ p interactions at 32 GeV/c. The production cross sections, 36.4±9 μb for the Ξ+ and 6.5±3 μb for the Ξ?, are rising strongly with energy similarly to Λ and Λ production in K+ p interactions. The Ξ+ are produced preferentially in the forward direction in the c.m.s., while the Ξ? are produced dominantly backwards. The average transverse momenta 〈pTΞ+=0.73±0.09 GeV/c and 〈pTΞ?=0.58±0.09 GeV/c.  相似文献

Laser-induced fluorescence excitation has been used to measure Stark splittings of selected lines in the A?1A2-X?1A1 and a?3A2-X?1A2 band systems of H2CS in electric fields up to 13 kV/cm. The derived excited state a-axis dipole moments are 0.820 ± 0.007 D for the 41 level of the 1A2 state; 0.838 ± 0.008 D for the zeroth vibrational level of 1A2; and 0.534 ± 0.015 D for the zeroth vibrational level of the 3A2 state. These results are compared with the corresponding values of H2CO, and interpreted in terms of the changing localization of the π and π1 orbitals accompanying electronic excitation.  相似文献

Conductivity and optical data on a new organic, conducting charge transfer salt Δ2, 2′-Bi-(4,5-trimethylene-1,3-diselenole) 11,11′,12,12′-tetracyano-2, 6-napthoquinodimethane (HMTSF-TNAP) are given. σ(300 K)= 2400 ± 600 Ω-1cm-1. A maximum in σ(T) is found at TM = 47 K with σ(TM)/σ(300 K) = 6.0 ± 10%, and σ(1.5 K) > 250 Ω-1. σ(T) is well defined in the high temperature region, but is sample dependent at low temperatures. The optical data indicate a bandwidth and carrier density comparable to that of HMTSF-TCNQ.  相似文献

The Raman active fundamentals ν1(A1g), ν2(Eg), ν5(F2g), and the overtone 2ν6 of SF6 have been investigated with a higher resolution and the band origins were estimated to be: ν1 = 774.53 cm?1, ν2 = 643.35 cm?1, ν5 = 523.5 cm?1, and 2ν6 = 693.8 cm?1. Raman and infrared data have been combined for estimation of several anharmonicity constants. The ν6 fundamental frequency is calculated as 347.0 cm?1. From the analysis of the ν2 Raman band, the following rotational constants of both the ground and upper states have been calculated:
B0 = 0.09111 ± 0.00005cm?1; D0 = (0.16±0.08)10?7cm?1

From the measurement of Be+e? = Γ(ppe+e?)Γpp→total = (3.2 ± 10?7), obtained in an experiment at CERN with antiprotons at rest, a value of the proton electromagnetic form factors at the threshold of the time-like region is derived: |GE| = |GM| = 0.51 ± 0.08 at q2 = -3.52 (GeV/c)2.  相似文献

Relative oscillator strengths in the Cameron system of CO(a3Π ← X1Σ) have been observed in absorption for six bands (υ′ = 0–5, υ″ = 0) with the result, normalized to the absolute (0, 0) band measurement of Hasson and Nicholls, ?00 = (1.62±0.07) × 10?7, ?10 = (1.96±0.09) × 10?7, ?20 = (1.41±0.04) × 10?7, ?3 0 = (0.72±0.03) × 10?7, ?40 = (0.31±0.02) × 10?7, ?50 = (0.14±0.01) × 10?7. The density of CO was modulated with a motor-driven vacuum valve and synchronous fluctuations (?1 per cent) in the transmitted intensity detected with a lock-in amplifier. Peak pressure in the 21 cm absorption cell was approximately 10 torr. A curve of growth analysis was used to correct saturation effects by less than 3 per cent.  相似文献

Inclusive K10 production is studied in π?p interactions at 16 GeV/c with x? > 0.2. The K10 is found to be pre-dominantly centrally produced with cross section σ(K10) = (72 ± 12) μb for x? > 0.2 and compares closely to data on K10 production in π+p interactions at the same energy.  相似文献

Measurements of sodium tracer diffusion (Dt) and ionic conductivity (σ) have been made on the same single crystals of sodium beta-alumina of composition 1.23 Na20.11 Al2O3. The σ- measurements were made over the temperature 390–660 K using reversible (liquid sodium) electrodes. A fit to the conductivity data gives σT = 2470exp (?0.142eVkT?1cm?1K. The Dt, measurements employed two techniques, i.e. nondestructive profiling over the temperature range 210–750 K and cation exchange over the temperature range 505–970 K. The results of the two techniques were in close agreement and can be expressed as D = 2.12 ×10?4exp(?0.169 eVkT) cm2sec?1 for T>520K and D = 2.45 × 10?4exp(?0.164 eVkT) cm2sec 470 K. The “transition” region between 470 and 520 K is not observed in the conductivity measurements. Silver cation exchange was used to determine the number of mobile sodium ions. A comparison of Dt and σ data yielded a Haven ratio that is temperature dependent, ranging in value from 0.45 at 870 K to 0.35 at 370 K.  相似文献

The inclusive production of Λ, KS0, Σ±(1385) and K(892) in π?p interactions at 6 GeV/c has been studied. The observed cross sections are: σ(Λ)=0.94±0.06 mb, σ(KS0)=0.98±0.06 mb, σ(Σ+(1385))=60±7 μb, σ(Σ?(1385))=90±9 μb, σ(K1+(892))=216±28 μb and σ(K1?(892))=41±8 μb, respectively. The inclusive spectra of these particles are presented as functions of squared transverse momentum and Feynman scaling variable x. The polarization of Λ has also been investigated. It is found from a comparison with higher-energy data that the inclusive cross sections for Σ±(1385) and the production ratios Σ±(1385)/Λ in π?p at 6 GeV/c have not reached the high-energy limiting values.  相似文献
