A Biordered Set Representation of Regular Semigroups

In this paper, for an arbitrary regular biordered set E, by using biorder-isomorphisms between the w-ideals of E, we construct a fundamental regular semigroup WE called NH-semigroup of E, whose idempotent biordered set is isomorphic to E. We prove further that WE can be used to give a new representation of general regular semigroups in the sense that, for any regular semigroup S with the idempotent biordered set isomorphic to E, there exists a homomorphism from S to WE whose kernel is the greatest idempotent-separating congruence on S and the image is a full symmetric subsemigroup of WE. Moreover, when E is a biordered set of a semilattice Eo, WE is isomorphic to the Munn-semigroup TEo; and when E is the biordered set of a band B, WE is isomorphic to the Hall-semigroup WB.

非线性Lipschitz算子半群的表示

本文通过引入若干Lipschitz对偶概念,将非线性Lipschitz算子半群对偶映射到Lipschitz对偶空间中,使其转化为线性算子半群。该线性算子半群被证明是一个C_0~*-半群,因而是某个C_0-半群的对偶半群。从而证明了,在等距意义下,一个非线性Lipschitz算子半群可以延拓为一个C_0-半群。基于这些结论,本文给出了一系列全新的非线性Lipschitz算子半群的表示公式。     

Strongly Continuous Semigroups and Stochastic Representation

Second-order elliptic operators realized under Dirichlet boundaryconditions in bounded domains are shown to generate stronglycontinuous semigroups in the topology of uniform convergence.The stochastic representation and integral representation withkernel for the strongly continuous semigroups are given. Furthermore,several useful formulae for the principal eigenvalue of second-orderelliptic operators are obtained.     

The Isometric Representation Theory of Numerical Semigroups

We study representations of numerical semigroups ∑ by isometries on Hilbert space with commuting range projections. Our main theorem says that each such representation is unitarily equivalent to the direct sum of a representation by unitaries and a finite number of multiples of particular concrete representations by isometries. We use our main theorem to identify the faithful representations of the C*-algebra C*(∑) generated by a universal isometric representation with commuting range projections, and also prove a structure theorem for C*(∑). This research was supported by the Australian Research Council.     

Representation of Numerical Semigroups by Dyck Paths

We introduce square diagrams that represent numerical semigroups and we obtain an injection from the set of numerical semigroups into the set of Dyck paths.     

Continuity and Representation of Gaussian Mehler Semigroups

We present sufficient conditions on a Gaussian Mehler semigroup on a reflexive Banach space Eto be induced by a single positive symmetric operator Q \in , and give a counterexample which shows that this representation theorem is false in every nonreflexive Banach space with a Schauder basis. We also show that the transition semigroup of a Gaussian Mehler semigroup on a separable Banach space Eacts in a pointwise continuous way, uniformly on compact subsets of E, in the space BUC(E) of bounded uniformly continuous real-valued funtions on E. The transition semigroup is shown to be strongly continuous on BUC(E) if and only if S(t) = Ifor all t 0     

Choquet-type Integral Representation of Invariant Functions for some Product Semigroups

We show that functions which are invariant for suitable product semigroups (one of which is a quasi-Poisson semigroup on a general state space) decompose into a singular eigen-function and a mixture of products of minimal eigen-functions.     

关于算子半群的一个一般概率表示公式

In this paper we present a general probabilistic representation theorem for semigroups of operators which essentially comprises almost all known representation theorems of this kind. Especially, so-called first and second main theorems turn out to be special cases of the same general formula. The general theorem also permits the calculation of rates of convergence involving the second modulus of continuity.

A Perron-Frobenius-type Theorem for Positive Matrix Semigroups

One consequence of the Perron–Frobenius Theorem on indecomposable positive matrices is that whenever an \(n\times n\) matrix A dominates a non-singular positive matrix, there is an integer k dividing n such that, after a permutation of basis, A is block-monomial with \(k\times k\) blocks. Furthermore, for suitably large exponents, the nonzero blocks of \(A^m\) are strictly positive. We present an extension of this result for indecomposable semigroups of positive matrices.     

A Combinatorial Property for Semigroups of Matrices

Abstract. In this paper we study the semigroups of matrices over a commutative semiring. We prove that a semigroup of matrices over a tropical semiring satisfies a combinatorial property called weak permutation property . We consider an application of this result to the Burnside problem for groups.
