A theoretical model and an analytical method, which are suitable for initial elastic buckling analysis of two-dimensional honeycomb structures including hexagonal honeycombs with walls of equal or unequal thickness, rectangular and triangular honeycombs etc., are developed in this paper. The results given in present paper agree well with the experimental data of hexagonal honeycombs with walls of unequal thickness.The project was supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China.  相似文献

Shear-lag effect in CFRP (carbon-fiberreinforced plastic) I-beams is investigated by applying Reissner's method concerning box beams to CFRP I-beams. This modified beam theory (MBT) assumes that the flanges are orthotropic and includes the effect of the shearing rigidity of the web and the deformation of the flanges themselves. The anisotropy of the flanges causes the decrease of the flexural rigidity of I-beams. The decrease, however, is restrained by a preventive action on the shear-lag effect in the flanges with a decrease of the anisotropy ratio due to the selection of fiber orientation. In order to verify this MBT, I-beam structures were fabricated from carbon fiber and epoxy resin using three different lay-up schemes: unidirectional, quasi-isotropic, and a ±45-deg angle-ply. The stiffness and shear-lag effect of these I-beams were measured and compared with results from the composite beam theory and MBT. The theoretical load-deflection curves and the strain distributions agreed well with the corresponding experimental results.  相似文献

The elastic buckling behavior of rectangular perforated plates was studied by using the finite element method in this study. Circular cutout was chosen at different locations along the principal x-axis of plates subjected to linearly varying loading in order to evaluate the effect of cutout location on the buckling behavior of plates. The results show that the center of a circular hole should not be placed at the end half of the outer panel for all loading patterns. Furthermore, the presence of a circular hole always causes a decrease in the elastic buckling load of plates subjected to bending, even if the circular hole is not in the outer panel.  相似文献

The work presented in this paper is concerned with the zero moment stability theory of Beatty. We find that while the zero moment condition can be justified as a possible aid in the analysis of certainspecific problems, we also indicate that this condition should not be considered as a general and primitive restriction on stability theory at the foundation level.  相似文献

Bending of strain gradient elastic thin beams is studied adopting Bernoulli-Euler principle. Simple linear strain gradient elastic theory with surface energy is employed. The governing beam equations with its boundary conditions are derived through a variational method. It turns out that new terms are introduced, indicating the importance of the cross-section area in bending of thin beams. Those terms are missing from the existing strain gradient beam theories. Those terms increase highly the stiffness of the thin beam. The buckling problem of the thin beams is also discussed.  相似文献

Summary The buckling problem of a cantilever column is discussed when the axial loading device introduces friction forces. Adopting global stability criteria and applying the bifurcation theory to the present non-conservative eigenvalue problem, the critical load is defined and the post-critical behavior is investigated.

Chirality is, generally speaking, the property of an object that can be classified as left- or right-handed. Though it plays an important role in many branches of science, chirality is encountered less often in continuum mechanics, so most classical material models do not account for it. In the context of elasticity, for example, classical elasticity is not chiral, leading different authors to use Cosserat elasticity to allow modelling of chiral behaviour.Gradient elasticity can also model chiral behaviour, however this has received much less attention than its Cosserat counterpart. This paper shows how in the case of isotropic linear gradient elasticity a single additional parameter can be introduced that describes chiral behaviour. This additional parameter, directly linked to three-dimensional deformation, can be either negative or positive, with its sign indicating a discrimination between the two opposite directions of torsion. Two simple examples are presented to show the practical effects of the chiral behaviour.  相似文献

本文给出了旋转壳与支承支柱系统组合结构线性稳定性分析的简化处理方案,即将空间梁系结构每根梁的单元刚度阵及几何阵按离散富氏系数变量叠加得等效刚度阵及几何阵。从所给算例知,这一简化处理是成功的,也说明稳定性分析反映的是结构的总体效应,局部区域的简化处理对整体结构临界载荷影响不大,但可使计算量大大减少。本文的计算方案及程序已应用于实际的冷却塔设计。  相似文献

This paper uses the Oseen transformation to solve the differential equations governing motion of the vertical linear gradient flow distribution close to a wall surface. The Navier-Stokes equations are used to consider the inertia term along the flow direction. A novel contour integral method is used to solve the complex Airy function. The boundary conditions of linear gradient flow distribution for finite problems are determined. The vorticity function, the pressure function, and the turbulent velocity profiles are provided, and the stability of particle trajectories is studied. An Lx-function form of the third derivative circulation is used to to simplify the solution. Theoretical results are compared with the experimental measurements with satisfactory agreement.  相似文献

Recent interest in designing soft gels with high fracture toughness has called for simple and robust methods to test fracture behavior. The conventional method of applying tension to a gel sample suffers from a difficulty of sample gripping. In this paper, we study a possible fracture mechanism of soft gels under uni-axial compression. We show that the surfaces of a pre-existing crack, oriented parallel to the loading axis, can buckle at a critical compressive stress. This buckling instability can open the crack surfaces and create highly concentrated stress fields near the crack tip, which can lead to crack growth. We show that the onset of crack buckling can be deduced by a dimensional argument com- bined with an analysis to determine the critical compression needed to induce surface instabilities of an elastic half space. The critical compression for buckling was verified for a neo-Hookean material model using finite element simulations.  相似文献

The predictions for plastic buckling of shells are significantly affected by the plasticity model employed, in particular in the case of nonproportional loading. A series of experiments on plastic buckling of cylindrical aluminum alloy shells under biaxial loading (external pressure and axial tension), with well-defined loading and boundary conditions, was therefore carried out to provide experimental data for evaluation of the suitability of different, plasticity models. In the experiments, initial imperfections and their growth under load were measured and special attention was paid to buckling detection and load path control. The Southwell plot was applied with success to smooth the results. The results show that axial tension decreases resistance to buckling under external pressure in the plastic region due to softening of the material behavior. Variational principles for the buckling and vibration of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are established with the aid of the semi-inverse method. They are used to derive the natural and geometric boundary conditions coupled by small scale parameters. Hamilton's principle and Rayleigh's quotient for the buckling and vibration of the MWCNTs are given. The Rayleigh-Ritz method is used to study the buckling and vibration of the single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) with three typical boundary conditions. The numerical results reveal that the small scale parameter, aspect ratio, and boundary conditions have a profound effect on the buckling and vibration of the SWCNTs and DWCNTs.  相似文献

Summary A method for the calculation of the critical load for a semi-ellipsoidal shell with a stiffening rib at the edge is presented. The external and internal buckling energy of the shell is described. The Rayleigh quotient is used as the static buckling criterion, assuming the deflection function to depend on four shape parameters. Some numerical examples are presented showing the influence of the rib stiffness and the shell dimensions on the critical pressure value.

Übersicht Eine Methode zur Berechnung der kritischen Belastung von Halbellipsoidschalen mit versteifendem Kragen am Rande wird vorgestellt. Die äußere und innere Energie der Schale wird berechnet und der Rayleigh-Quotient als statisches Kriterium der Stabilität benutzt. Ihm liegt eine Funktion der Biegung mit vier Gestaltparametern zugrunde. Einige numerische Beispiele werden vorgestellt, welche den Einfluß der Kragensteifigkeit und der Schalenabmessungen auf den kritischen Druck illustrieren.

侧向弯曲屈曲及侧向弯扭屈曲均为钢-混凝土组合梁负弯矩区钢梁的重要屈曲模式,而现有计算方法通常只考虑到侧向弯曲屈曲,未考虑到侧向弯扭屈曲,因此有一定局限性。本文在钢梁腹板对钢梁下翼缘的转动约束刚度及侧向约束刚度的计算公式上,结合弹性介质中薄壁杆件的屈曲理论推导了工形钢-混凝土组合梁负弯矩区的侧向弯曲屈曲弯矩及侧向弯扭屈曲弯矩计算公式。实例分析表明,现有计算方法均存在一定理论缺陷,本文计算方法更为合理;同时,本文计算式比现有文献中同类型计算式更为简洁,便于手算,实用性强并适于工程应用。  相似文献

The problem of dynamic buckling of a bar under the influence of a compressive force is solved taking into account inertial and elastic forces in different stages of the process. The duration of the inertial stage is determined. It is shown that in solids and gas–liquid media, the duration of the inertial stage for real parameters of structural members can be longer than the duration of impact loading.  相似文献
