A twisted quiver bundle is a set of holomorphic vector bundles over a complex manifold, labelled by the vertices of a quiver, linked by a set of morphisms twisted by a fixed collection of holomorphic vector bundles, labelled by the arrows. When the manifold is K?hler, quiver bundles admit natural gauge-theoretic equations, which unify many known equations for bundles with extra structure. In this paper we prove a Hitchin–Kobayashi correspondence for twisted quiver bundles over a compact K?hler manifold, relating the existence of solutions to the gauge equations to a stability criterion, and consider its application to a number of situations related to Higgs bundles and dimensional reductions of the Hermitian–Einstein equations.  In a discussion in spring 2001, Alexei Borodin showed us recursion relations for the Toeplitz determinants going with the symbols e t(z + z−1) and \!. Borodin obtained these relations using Riemann-Hilbert methods; see the recent work of Borodin B and Baik Baik. The nature of Borodin's recursion relations pointed towards the Toeplitz lattice and its Virasoro algebra, introduced by us in AvM1. In this paper, we take the Toeplitz lattice and Virasoro algebra approach for a fairly large class of symbols, leading to a systematic way of generating recursion relations. The latter are very naturally expressed in terms of the L-matrices appearing in the Toeplitz lattice equations. As a surprise, we find, compared to Borodin's, a different set of relations, except for the 3-step relations associated with the symbol e t(z + z−1) . The Painlevé analysis of the Toeplitz lattice enables us to show the ``singularity confinement' for these recursion relations.  In this article we study the long-time behavior of incompressible ideal flow in a half plane from the point of view of vortex scattering. Our main result is that certain asymptotic states for half-plane vortex dynamics decompose naturally into a nonlinear superposition of soliton-like states. Our approach is to combine techniques developed in the study of vortex confinement with weak convergence tools in order to study the asymptotic behavior of a self-similar rescaling of a solution of the incompressible 2D Euler equations on a half plane with compactly supported, nonnegative initial vorticity.  We present an approach to quantum dynamical lower bounds for discrete one-dimensional Schr?dinger operators which is based on power-law bounds on transfer matrices. It suffices to have such bounds for a nonempty set of energies. We apply this result to various models, including the Fibonacci Hamiltonian.  We study the motion of a compressible perfect liquid body in vacuum. This can be through of as a model for the motion of the ocean or a star. The free surface moves with the velocity of the liquid and the pressure vanishes on the free surface. This leads to a free boundary problem for Euler's equations, where the regularity of the boundary enters to highest order. We prove linearized stability in Sobolev space assuming a ``physical condition', related to the fact that the pressure of a fluid has to be positive.  We investigate the long-time behavior of the Glauber dynamics for the random energy model below the critical temperature. We give very precise estimates on the motion of the process to and between the states of extremal energies. We show that when disregarding time, the consecutive steps of the process on these states are governed by a Markov chain that jumps uniformly on all possible states. The mean times of these jumps are also computed very precisely and are seen to be asymptotically independent of the terminal point. A first indicator of aging is the observation that the mean time of arrival in the set of states that have waiting times of order T is itself of order T. The estimates proven in this paper will furnish crucial input for a follow-up paper where aging is analysed in full detail.  For the antiferromagnetic, highly anisotropic XZ and XXZ quantum spin chains, we impose periodic boundary conditions on chains with an odd number of sites to force an interface (or kink) into the chain. We prove that the energy of the interface depends on the momentum of the state. This shows that at zero temperature the interface in such chains is not stable. This is in contrast to the ferromagnetic XXZ chain for which the existence of localized interface ground states has been proven for any amount of anisotropy in the Ising-like regime.  In this paper we study the category of standard holomorphic vector bundles on a noncommutative two-torus. We construct a functor from the derived category of such bundles to the derived category of coherent sheaves on an elliptic curve and prove that it induces an equivalence with the subcategory of stable objects. By the homological mirror symmetry for elliptic curves this implies an equivalence between the derived category of holomorphic bundles on a noncommutative two-torus and the Fukaya category of the corresponding symplectic (commutative) torus.  We consider an ensemble of classical particles coupled to a Klein-Gordon field. For the resulting nonlinear system of partial differential equations, which we call the relativistic Vlasov-Klein-Gordon system, we prove the existence of global weak solutions for initial data satisfying a size restriction. The latter becomes necessary since the energy of the system is indefinite, and only for restricted data a-priori bounds on the solutions can be derived from conservation of energy.  It was argued in [25, 5] that in the presence of a nontrivial B-field, D-brane charges in type IIB string theories are classified by twisted K-theory. In [4], it was proved that twisted K-theory is canonically isomorphic to bundle gerbe K-theory, whose elements are ordinary Hilbert bundles on a principal projective unitary bundle, with an action of the bundle gerbe determined by the principal projective unitary bundle. The principal projective unitary bundle is in turn determined by the twist. This paper studies in detail the Chern-Weil representative of the Chern character of bundle gerbe K-theory that was introduced in [4], extending the construction to the equivariant and the holomorphic cases. Included is a discussion of interesting examples.  Alternative titles of this paper would have been ``Index theory without index' or ``The Baum–Connes conjecture without Baum.' In 1989, Rieffel introduced an analytic version of deformation quantization based on the use of continuous fields of C * -algebras. We review how a wide variety of examples of such quantizations can be understood on the basis of a single lemma involving amenable groupoids. These include Weyl–Moyal quantization on manifolds, C * -algebras of Lie groups and Lie groupoids, and the E-theoretic version of the Baum–Connes conjecture for smooth groupoids as described by Connes in his book Noncommutative Geometry. Concerning the latter, we use a different semidirect product construction from Connes. This enables one to formulate the Baum–Connes conjecture in terms of twisted Weyl–Moyal quantization. The underlying mechanical system is a noncommutative desingularization of a stratified Poisson space, and the Baum–Connes Conjecture actually suggests a strategy for quantizing such singular spaces.  We discuss the Lie Poisson group structures associated to splittings of the loop group LGL(N,ℂ), due to Sklyanin. Concentrating on the finite dimensional leaves of the associated Poisson structure, we show that the geometry of the leaves is intimately related to a complex algebraic ruled surface with a *-invariant Poisson structure. In particular, Sklyanin's Lie Poisson structure admits a suitable abelianisation, once one passes to an appropriate spectral curve. The Sklyanin structure is then equivalent to one considered by Mukai, Tyurin and Bottacin on a moduli space of sheaves on the Poisson surface. The abelianization procedure gives rise to natural Darboux coordinates for these leaves, as well as separation of variables for the integrable Hamiltonian systems associated to invariant functions on the group.  We study the theory of scattering for the Maxwell-Schr?dinger system in space dimension 3, in the Coulomb gauge. In the special case of vanishing asymptotic magnetic field, we prove the existence of modified wave operators for that system with no size restriction on the Schr?dinger data and we determine the asymptotic behaviour in time of solutions in the range of the wave operators. The method consists in partially solving the Maxwell equations for the potentials, substituting the result into the Schr?dinger equation, which then becomes both nonlinear and nonlocal in time, and treating the latter by the method previously used for the Hartree equation and for the Wave-Schr?dinger system.  Given an irreducible local conformal net 𝒜 of von Neumann algebras on S 1 and a finite-index conformal subnet ℬ⊂𝒜, we show that 𝒜 is completely rational iff ℬ is completely rational. In particular this extends a result of F. Xu for the orbifold construction. By applying previous results of Xu, many coset models turn out to be completely rational and the structure results in [27] hold. Our proofs are based on an analysis of the net inclusion ℬ⊂𝒜; among other things we show that, for a fixed interval I, every von Neumann algebra  intermediate between ℬ(I) and 𝒜(I) comes from an intermediate conformal net ℒ between ℬ and 𝒜 with ℒ(I)=. We make use of a theorem of Watatani (type II case) and Teruya and Watatani (type III case) on the finiteness of the set ℑ(𝒩,ℳ) of intermediate subfactors in an irreducible inclusion of factors 𝒩⊂ℳ with finite Jones index [ℳ:𝒩]. We provide a unified proof of this result that gives in particular an explicit bound for the cardinality of ℑ(𝒩,ℳ) which depends only on [ℳ:𝒩].  In this paper, we establish the existence theory for general system of hyperbolic conservation laws and obtain the uniform L 1 boundness for the solutions. The existence theory generalizes the classical Glimm theory for systems, for which each characteristic field is either genuinely nonlinear or linearly degenerate in the sense of Lax. We construct the solutions by the Glimm scheme through the wave tracing method. One of the key elements is a new way of measuring the potential interaction of the waves of the same characteristic family involving the angle between waves. A new analysis is introduced to verify the consistency of the wave tracing procedure. The entropy functional is used to study the L 1 boundedness.  We consider a variety of nearest-neighbor spin models defined on the d-dimensional hypercubic lattice ℤ d . Our essential assumption is that these models satisfy the condition of reflection positivity. We prove that whenever the associated mean-field theory predicts a discontinuous transition, the actual model also undergoes a discontinuous transition (which occurs near the mean-field transition temperature), provided the dimension is sufficiently large or the first-order transition in the mean- field model is sufficiently strong. As an application of our general theory, we show that for d sufficiently large, the 3-state Potts ferromagnet on ℤ d undergoes a first-order phase transition as the temperature varies. Similar results are established for all q-state Potts models with q≥3, the r-component cubic models with r≥4 and the O(N)-nematic liquid-crystal models with N≥3. Quantum Spheres and Projective Spaces as Graph Algebras   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
The C * -algebras of continuous functions on quantum spheres, quantum real projective spaces, and quantum complex projective spaces are realized as Cuntz-Krieger algebras corresponding to suitable directed graphs. Structural results about these quantum spaces, especially about their ideals and K-theory, are then derived from the general theory of graph algebras. It is shown that the quantum even and odd dimensional spheres are produced by repeated application of a quantum double suspension to two points and the circle, respectively. High-spin states of the 42Ca nucleus, populated in the 68 MeV 18O + 30Si reaction, have been studied in a γ-γ-recoil coincidence experiment. The level scheme of 42Ca has been extended up to 13.7 MeV. An elaborate decay pattern with various paths, together with high-quality DCO and polarization information assigns spins and parities for almost all observed levels. The sequence of non-yrast positive-parity states is discussed and compared with highly deformed bands in 36Ar and 40Ca.
