Let X(t) be an N parameter generalized Lévy sheet taking values in ℝd with a lower index α, ℜ = {(s, t] = ∏ i=1 N (s i, t i], s i < t i}, E(x, Q) = {tQ: X(t) = x}, Q ∈ ℜ be the level set of X at x and X(Q) = {x: ∃tQ such that X(t) = x} be the image of X on Q. In this paper, the problems of the existence and increment size of the local times for X(t) are studied. In addition, the Hausdorff dimension of E(x, Q) and the upper bound of a uniform dimension for X(Q) are also established.  相似文献

We characterize the maximalm-bounded extension of an arbitrary completely regular Hausdorff spaceX. The other principal results are:Theorem. LetX be a locally compact, σ-compact non-compact space with no more than 2ℵ0 zero-sets. Then assuming the continuum hypothesis,βX − X can be written as the union of 22ℵ0 pairwise disjoint, dense ℵ0-bounded subspaces.Theorem. LetX be a locally compact, σ-compact metric space without isolated points. Then both the set of remote points ofβX and the complement of this set inβXX are ℵ0-bounded.  相似文献

We force 2 λ to be large, and for many pairs in the interval (λ, 2 λ ) a strong version of the polarized partition relations holds. We apply this to problems in general topology. For example, consistently, every 2 λ is the successor of a singular and for every Hausdorff regular space X, hd(X) ≤ s(X)+3, hL(X) ≤ s(X)+3 and better when s(X) is regular, via a halfgraph partition relations. For the case s(X) = 0 we get hd(X), hL(X) ≤ N 2.  相似文献

A Borel derivative on the hyperspace 2 X of a compactumX is a Borel monotone mapD: 2 X →2 X . The derivative determines a Cantor-Bendixson type rank δ:2X → ω1 ∪ {∞} . We show that ifA⊂2 X is analytic andZA intersects stationary many layers δ−1({ξ}), then for almost all σ,F∩δ−1({ξ}) cannot be separated fromZ ∩∪ a<ξ δ−1({a}) (and also fromZ ∩∪ a>ξ δ−1({a}) by anyF σ-set. Another main result involves a natural partial order on 2 X related to the derivative. The results are obtained in a general framework of “resolvable ranks” introduced in the paper. Let X = {X(t), t ∈ ℝ N } be a Gaussian random field with values in ℝ d defined by
((1))
. The properties of space and time anisotropy of X and their connections to uniform Hausdorff dimension results are discussed. It is shown that in general the uniform Hausdorff dimension result does not hold for the image sets of a space-anisotropic Gaussian random field X. When X is an (N, d)-Gaussian random field as in (1), where X 1,...,X d are independent copies of a real valued, centered Gaussian random field X 0 which is anisotropic in the time variable. We establish uniform Hausdorff dimension results for the image sets of X. These results extend the corresponding results on one-dimensional Brownian motion, fractional Brownian motion and the Brownian sheet.   相似文献

We construct and study a new 15-vertex triangulation X of the complex projective plane ℂP2. The automorphism group of X is isomorphic to S 4 × S 3. We prove that the triangulation X is the minimal (with respect to the number of vertices) triangulation of ℂP2 admitting a chess colouring of four-dimensional simplices. We provide explicit parametrizations for the simplices of X and show that the automorphism group of X can be realized as a group of isometries of the Fubini-Study metric. We find a 33-vertex subdivision $ \bar X $ \bar X of the triangulation X such that the classical moment mapping μ: ℂP2 → Δ2 is a simplicial mapping of the triangulation $ \bar X $ \bar X onto the barycentric subdivision of the triangle Δ2. We study the relationship of the triangulation X with complex crystallographic groups.  相似文献

It is proved that ifX is a connected locally continuumwise connected coanalytic nowhere topologically complete space, then the hyperspace 2 X of all nonempty compact subsets ofX is strongly universal in the class of all coanalytic spaces. Moreover, 2 X is homeomorphic to Π2 ifX is a Baire space, and toQ∖Π1 ifX contains a dense absoluteG δ-setGX such that the intersectionGU is connected for any open connectedUX. (Here Π1, Π1X are the standard subsets of the Hilbert cubeQ absorbing for the classes of analytic and coanalytic spaces, respectively.) Similar results are obtained for higher projective classes. Let X be an infinite-dimensional Banach space with weight τ. By Cld AW (X), we denote the hyperspace of nonempty closed sets in X with the Attouch—Wets topology. By Fin AW (X), Comp AW (X) and Bdd AW (X), we denote the subspaces of Cld AW (X) consisting of finite sets, compact sets and bounded closed sets, respectively. In this paper, it is proved that Fin AW (X)≈Comp AW (X)≈ℓ2(τ)×ℓ2 f ℓandℓBdd AW (X)≈ℓ2(2τ)×ℓ2 f where ≈ means ‘is homeomorphic to’, ℓ2(τ) is the Hilbert space with weight τ (ℓ2(ℵ0)=ℓ2 the separable Hilbert space) and ℓ2 f ={(x i ) iεN εℓ2x i =0 except for finitely many iεN}.  相似文献

Summary LetX be a standard normal random variable and let σ be a positive random variable independent ofX. The distribution of η=σX is expanded around that ofN(0, 1) and its error bounds are obtained. Bounds are given in terms of E(σ 2V−σ 2−1) k whereσ 2Vσ −2 denotes the maximum of the two quantitiesσ 2 andσ −2, andk is a positive integer, and of E(σ 2−1) k , ifk is even. Let X be a Banach space and let T: XX be a power bounded linear operator. Put X 0 = {xXT n x → 0}. Assume given a compact set KX such that lim inf n→∞ ρ{T n x, K} ≤ η < 1 for every xX, ∥x∥ ≤ 1. If $\eta < \tfrac{1} {2} $\eta < \tfrac{1} {2} , then codim X 0 < ∞. This is true in X reflexive for $\eta \in [\tfrac{1} {2},1) $\eta \in [\tfrac{1} {2},1) , but fails in the general case.  相似文献

Given 1≦p<∞ and a real Banach spaceX, we define thep-absolutely summing constantμ p(X) as inf{Σ i =1/m |x*(x i)|p p Σ i =1/mx ip p]1 p}, where the supremum ranges over {x*∈X*; ‖x*‖≤1} and the infimum is taken over all sets {x 1,x 2, …,x m} ⊂X such that Σ i =1/mx i‖>0. It follows immediately from [2] thatμ p(X)>0 if and only ifX is finite dimensional. In this paper we find the exact values ofμ p(X) for various spaces, and obtain some asymptotic estimates ofμ p(X) for general finite dimensional Banach spaces. LetX n, n≧0, be a martingale with respect to the σ-fieldsF n and letB n 21≧n E{(X 1X 1−1)2|F 1−1} It is known that ifB 1 2 <∞ on some set Ω0 thenX =limX n exists and is finite a.e. on Ω0 We show that under suitable conditions there exists a constant ν<∞ for which lim supB n −1 {log logB n 2 }−1/2|X X n−1 | ≦ √2(η+1). If “the fluctuations ofB n are small” (in the sense of the Corollary) then ν=0 and the usual upper bound of a law of the iterated logrithm results. This upper bound is not necessarily achieved, though. Research supported in part by the NSF under Grant No. MCS 72-04534A04.  相似文献

The adjoint of aC 0-semigroup on a Banach spaceX induces a locally convex σ(X,X )-topology inX, which is weaker than the weak topology ofX. In this paper we study the relation between these two topologies. Among other things a class of subsets ofX is given on which they coincide. As an application, an Eberlein-Shmulyan type theorem is proved for the σ(X,X )-topology and it is shown that the uniform limit of σ(X,X )-compact operators is σ(X,X )-compact. Finally our results are applied to the problem when the Favard class of a semigroup equals the domain of the infinitesimal generator.  相似文献

The weight-spectrumSp(w, X) of a spaceX is the set of weights of all infinite closed subspaces ofX. We prove that ifκ>ω is regular andX is compactT 2 withω(X)κ then some λ withκ≤λ≤2 is inSp(ω, X). Under CH this implies that the weight spectrum of a compact space can not omitω 1, and thus solves problem 22 of [M]. Also, it is consistent with 2ω=c being anything it can be that every countable closed setT of cardinals less thanc withω ∈ T satisfiesSp(w, X)=T for some separable compact LOTSX. This shows the independence from ZFC of a conjecture made in [AT]. Research supported by OTKA grant no. 1908.  相似文献

Let F be a field of characteristic ≠2 and φ be a quadratic form over F. By X φ we denote the projective variety given by the equation φ=0. For each positive even integer d≥8 (except for d=12) we construct a field F and a pair φ, ψ of anisotropic d-dimensional forms over F such that the Chow motives of X φ and X ψ coincide but . For a pair of anisotropic (2 n -1)-dimensional quadrics X and Y, we prove that existence of a rational morphism YX is equivalent to existence of a rational morphism YX. In this paper a variant of Lusternik-Schnirelmann category is presented which is denoted byQcat(X). It is obtained by applying a base-point free version ofQ fibrewise to the Ganea fibrations. We provecat(X)≥Qcat(X)≥σcat(X) whereσcat(X) denotes Y. Rudyak’s strict category weight. However,Qcat(X) approximatescat(X) better, because, e.g., in the case of a rational spaceQcat(X)=cat(X) andσcat(X) equals the Toomer invariant. We show thatQcat(X×Y)≤Qcat(X)+Qcat(Y). The invariantQcat is designed to measure the failure of the formulacat(X×S r )=cat(X)+1. In fact for 2-cell complexesQcat(X)<cat(X)⇔cat(X×S r )=cat(X) for somer≥1. We note that the paper is written in the more general context of a functor λ from the category of spaces to itself satisfying certain conditions; λ=Q, Ω n Σ n ,Sp orL f are just particular cases.  相似文献

Consider 0<α<1 and the Gaussian process Y(t) on ℝ N with covariance E(Y(s)Y(t))=|t|+|s|−|ts|, where |t| is the Euclidean norm of t. Consider independent copies X 1,…,X d of Y and␣the process X(t)=(X 1(t),…,X d (t)) valued in ℝ d . When kN≤␣(k−1)αd, we show that the trajectories of X do not have k-multiple points. If Nd and kN>(k−1)αd, the set of k-multiple points of the trajectories X is a countable union of sets of finite Hausdorff measure associated with the function ϕ(ɛ)=ɛ k N /α−( k −1) d (loglog(1/ɛ)) k . If Nd, we show that the set of k-multiple points of the trajectories of X is a countable union of sets of finite Hausdorff measure associated with the function ϕ(ɛ)=ɛ d (log(1/ɛ) logloglog 1/ɛ) k . Very little is known aboutH *n X) whenn is larger than the connectivity ofX. In this paper we calculate this whenX S andn=1 or 2, and whenX=JU(q) or JSO(3) andn is arbitrary. Some information is also given whenX is a sphere. The authors were partially supported by the NSF.  相似文献

Let X,X1,X2 be i. i. d. random variables with EX^2+δ〈∞ (for some δ〉0). Consider a one dimensional random walk S={Sn}n≥0, starting from S0 =0. Let ζ* (n)=supx∈zζ(x,n),ζ(x,n) =#{0≤k≤n:[Sk]=x}. A strong approximation of ζ(n) by the local time for Wiener process is presented and the limsup type and liminf-type laws of iterated logarithm of the maximum local time ζ*(n) are obtained. Furthermore, the precise asymptoties in the law of iterated logarithm of ζ*(n) is proved.  相似文献
