The time evolution of a system where a uniform and classical SU(3) color electric field and quantum fields of quarks interact with each other is studied focusing on non-perturbative pair creation and its back reaction. We characterize a color direction of an electric field in a gauge invariant way, and investigate its dependence. Momentum distributions of created quarks show plasma oscillation as well as quantum effects such as the Pauli blocking and interference. Pressure of the system is also calculated, and we show that pair creation moderates degree of anisotropy of pressure. Furthermore, enhancement of pair creation and induction of chiral charge under a color magnetic field which is parallel to an electric field are discussed.  相似文献

We present a topological quantum field theory for magnetic monopoles in an SU(N) Yang-Mills-Higgs model. This field theory is obtained by gauge fixing the topological action defining the monopole charge. This work extends to the three-dimensional case the quantization of invariant polynomials in four dimensions. We choose the Bogomolny self-duality equations as gauge conditions for the magnetic monopole topological field theory. In this way the geometrical equation discussed e.g. in Atiyah and Hitchin's work are recovered as ghost equations of motion. We give the cocycles of the corresponding topological symmetry. In the N→∞ limit interesting phenomena occur. The functional integration is forced to cover only the moduli space and the role of the ghosts stemming from the gauge fixing process is to provide a smooth semiclassical approximation.  相似文献

The gauge-fixing constraint in a gauge field theory is crucial for understanding both short-distance and long-distance behavior of non-abelian gauge field theories. We define what we call “non-propagating” gauge conditions such as the unitary gauge and “approximately non-propagating” or renormalizable gauge conditions, and study their topological properties. By first fixing the non-abelian part of the gauge ambiguity we find that SU(N) gauge theories can be written in the form of abelian gauge theories with N ? 1 fold multiplicity enriched with magnetic monopoles with certain magnetic charge combinations. Their electric chargesare governed by the instanton angle θ.If θ is continuously varied from 0 to 2π and a confinement mode is assumed for some θ, then at least one phase-transition must occur. We speculate on the possibility of new phases: e.g., “oblique confinement,” where θ ? π, and explain some peculiar features of this mode. In principle there may be infinitely many such modes, all separated by phase transition boundaries.  相似文献

The chiral magnetic effect is the appearance of a quark electric current along a magnetic-field direction in topologically nontrivial gauge fields. There is evidence that this effect is observed in collisions between heavy ions at the RHIC collider. The features of the chiral magnetic effect in SU(2) lattice gluodynamics at zero temperature have been investigated. It has been found that the electric current increases in the magnetic-field direction owing to quantum fluctuations of gluon fields. Fluctuations of the local charge density and chirality also increase with the magnetic field strength, which is a signature of the chiral magnetic effect.  相似文献

In this paper, spinor and vector decompositions of SU(2) gauge potential are presented and their equivalence is constructed using a simply proposal. We also obtain the action of Faddeev nonlinear 0(3) sigma model from the SU(2) mass/ve gauge field theory, which is proposed according to the gauge invariant principle. At last, the knot structure in SU(2) Chern-Simons filed theory is discussed in terms of the Φ-mapping topological current theory, The topological charge of the knot is characterized by the Hopf indices and the Brouwer degrees of Φ-mapping.  相似文献

Properties of vacua of the SU(2) gauge theory containing massless and massive fermions are investigated within the one-loop approximation. As a result of a condensation of composite scalar made of gauge fields, some gauge fields acquire a mass and the original SU(2) gauge symmetry is suggested to breake down to U (1). We evaluate the effective potential for the constant magnetic field and then extract the so-called dielectric permeability κ from it. The phase is called paramagnetism for positive κ, perfect paramagnetism for vanishing κ and ferromagnetism for negative κ. The choice of a favorable phase is determined by the value of the coupling constant and the number and the mass of fermions. The perfect paramagnetic phase is most precisely studied. It is shown that solitons with non-zero charges carry divergent energies. Then, the electric flux around the charge is shown to be squeezed into a string in that phase.  相似文献

The Aharonov-Bohm effect shows that the vacuum is structured, and that there can exist a finite vector potentialA in the vacuum when the electric field strengthE and magnetic flux densityB are zero. It is shown on this basis that gauge theory produces energy inherent in the vacuum. The latter is considered as the internal space of the gauge theory, containing a field made up of components ofA, to which a local gauge transformation is applied to produce the electromagnetic field tensor, a vacuum charge/current density, and a topological charge g. Local gauge transformation is the result of special relativity and introduces spacetime curvature, which gives rise to an electromagnetic field whose source is a vacuum charge current density made up ofA and g. The field carries energy to a device which can in principle extract energy from the vacuum. The development is given forU(1) andO(3) invariant gauge theory applied to electrodynamics. We study in detail the structure and properties of vortices in a recently proposed effective Landau-Ginzburg theory of anyonic superconductivity. The theory is described by a Chern-Simons gauge theory interacting with a complex scalar field in a broken symmetry phase. We analyze the profiles for the magnetic field, charge density, electric fie]d and angular momentum in a wide range of parameters between the Abrikosov-Nielsen-Olesen and pure Chern-Simons limits. For small values of the statistical parameter the magnetic field nucleates near the normal core, but is localized away from the core and well into the superconducting region in the Chern-Simons limit. In all cases, the charge density, electric field and magnetic moment density are localized within a ring surrounding the normal core. The unusual properties and quantum numbers of these vortices are studied.  相似文献

We discuss the superspace geometries which are necessary to describe on-shell O(4) and SU(4) supergravity. The relation of central charge field strengths to physical spin-zero fields is exhibited and a “new” O(4) theory is shown to exist. The version of SU(4) supergravity which uses an antisymmetric tensor gauge field is found to require modifications of ordinary superspace. Finally the Poincaré supergeometry which admits the conformal N = 4 supermultiplet is constructed. It is shown that consistency of the Bianchi identities implies the existence of dimension zero auxiliary fields which are components of a non-linear multiplet.  相似文献

We consider stationary axially symmetric black holes in SU(2) Einstein-Yang-Mills-dilaton theory. We present a mass formula for these stationary non-Abelian black holes, which also holds for Abelian black holes. The presence of the dilaton field allows for rotating black holes, which possess nontrivial electric and magnetic gauge fields, but do not carry a non-Abelian charge. We further present a new uniqueness conjecture.  相似文献

A dual charged solution carrying both electric and magnetic charge is formulated in SU(2) × U(1) gauge theory without making use of the topological characteristics of Higgs fields. When Dirac quantisation condition is imposed, two consequences follow: (i) Weinberg angle is restricted to the value sin2 θ = 1/2 and (ii) the solution cannot have fractional electric change, but must have integer items the basic electric charge of the theory. The infinity inherent in the theory is removed at the classical level by the use of gravitational effects by obtaining the same solution in the curved space-time. The resultant metric is of Reissner-Nordström form.  相似文献

A method is presented for constructing generalized 't Hooft monopole solutions in a gauge theory with an arbitrary gauge group. We derive restriction arising from the condition of finite energy. The radial oscillation of the solution is discussed. Using our method we reproduce all the SU(3) solutions known in the literature. Finite energy monopoles possessing magnetic charge in the range g0?kg0?(N?1)g0 are found in SU(N) gauge theories. Different charge quantization conditions are analyzed to understand the structure of our solutions.  相似文献

On the basis of the local SU (2) symmetry of the Heisenberg model, we show that the model, in a continuum limit, reduces to a problem of massless fermions coupled to an SU(2) gauge field in three space-time dimensions. The effective gauge field action changes by ± π ⦶ n ⦶ under a large gauge transformation with winding number n. To restore the gauge invariance, a parity- nonconserving, topological term is needed in the effective action. The physical implications are conjectured.  相似文献

The monopoles of the unified SU(5) gauge theory broken down to HE = SU(3)c ? U(1)EM [or to KE = SU(3)c ? SU(2) ? U(1)Y], are classified. They belong to representations of a magnetic group HM(KM), which is found to be isomorphic to HE(KE). For SU(5) broken down to HE, there exists a regular and stable monopole which is a colour magnetic triplet, and carries a non-zero abelian magnetic charge. It is suggested that composite operators made out of this monopole and its antiparticle fields develop a non-zero vacuum expectation value, and so lead to a squeezing of the colour electric flux. Finally, we comment on the cosmological production of SU(5) monopoles.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to applying the confinement mechanism proposed earlier by one of the authors to estimate the possible parameters of the confining SU(3)-gluonic field in vector ?-meson. The estimates obtained are consistent with the leptonic widths of the given meson. The corresponding estimates of the gluon concentrations, electric and magnetic colour field strengths are also adduced for the mentioned field at the scales of the meson under consideration.  相似文献

We consider globally regular and black hole solutions in SU(2) Einstein–Yang–Mills–Higgs theory, coupled to a dilaton field. The basic solutions represent magnetic monopoles, monopole–antimonopole systems or black holes with monopole or dipole hair. When the globally regular solutions carry additionally electric charge, an angular momentum density results, except in the simplest spherically symmetric case. We evaluate the global charges of the solutions and their effective action, and analyze their dependence on the gravitational coupling strength. We show, that in the presence of a dilaton field, the black hole solutions satisfy a generalized Smarr type mass formula. B. Kleihaus gratefully acknowledges support by the German Aerospace Center. Generation of Hall electric field and net charge associated initial conditions of plasma density and magnetic field. with magnetic reconnection is studied under different With inclusion of the Hall effects, decoupling of the electron and ion motions leads to the formation of a narrow layer with strong electric field and large net charge density along the separatrix. The asymmetry of the plasma density or magnetic field or both across the current sheet will largely increase the magnitude of the electric field and net charge. The results indicate that the asymmetry of the magnetic field is more effective in producing larger electric field and charge density. The electric field and net charge are always much larger in the low density or/and high magnetic field side than those in the high density or/and low magnetic field side. Both the electric field and net charge density are linearly dependent on the ratios of the plasma density or the square of the magnetic field across the current sheet. For the case with both initial asymmetries of the magnetic field and density, rather large Hall electric field and charge density are generated.  相似文献
