We investigate the critical behavior of three-dimensional random-field Ising systems with both Gauss and bimodal distribution of random fields and additional the three-dimensional diluted Ising antiferromagnet in an external field. These models are expected to be in the same universality class. We use exact ground-state calculations with an integer optimization algorithm and by a finite-size scaling analysis we calculate the critical exponents , , and . While the random-field model with Gauss distribution of random fields and the diluted antiferromagnet appear to be in same universality class, the critical exponents of the random-field model with bimodal distribution of random fields seem to be significantly different. A lot of progress has been made recently in our understanding of the random-field Ising model thanks to large-scale numerical simulations. In particular, it has been shown that, contrary to previous statements: the critical exponents for different probability distributions of the random fields and for diluted antiferromagnets in a field are the same. Therefore, critical universality, which is a perturbative renormalization-group prediction, holds beyond the validity regime of perturbation theory. Most notably, dimensional reduction is restored at five dimensions, i.e., the exponents of the random-field Ising model at five dimensions and those of the pure Ising ferromagnet at three dimensions are the same.  相似文献

We implement a two-stage approach of the Wang-Landau algorithm to investigate the critical properties of the 3D Ising model with quenched bond randomness. In particular, we consider the case where disorder couples to the nearest-neighbor ferromagnetic interaction, in terms of a bimodal distribution of strong versus weak bonds. Our simulations are carried out for large ensembles of disorder realizations and lattices with linear sizes L in the range L=8-64L=8{-}64. We apply well-established finite-size scaling techniques and concepts from the scaling theory of disordered systems to describe the nature of the phase transition of the disordered model, departing gradually from the fixed point of the pure system. Our analysis (based on the determination of the critical exponents) shows that the 3D random-bond Ising model belongs to the same universality class with the site- and bond-dilution models, providing a single universality class for the 3D Ising model with these three types of quenched uncorrelated disorder.  相似文献

Two cellular automata models with directed mass flow and internal time scales are studied by numerical simulations. Relaxation rules are a combination of probabilistic critical height (probability of toppling p) and deterministic critical slope processes with internal correlation time tc equal to the avalanche lifetime, in model A, and ,in model B. In both cases nonuniversal scaling properties of avalanche distributions are found for , where is related to directed percolation threshold in d=3. Distributions of avalanche durations for are studied in detail, exhibiting multifractal scaling behavior in model A, and finite size scaling behavior in model B, and scaling exponents are determined as a function of p. At a phase transition to noncritical steady state occurs. Due to difference in the relaxation mechanisms, avalanche statistics at approaches the parity conserving universality class in model A, and the mean-field universality class in model B. We also estimate roughness exponent at the transition. Received: 29 May 1998 / Revised: 8 September 1998 / Accepted: 10 September 1998  相似文献

The single-cluster Monte Carlo algorithm and the reweighting technique are used to simulate the 3D ferromagnetic Ising model on 3D Voronoi-Delauney lattices. It is assumed that the coupling factor J varies with the distance r between the first neighbors as J(r)∝ear, with a≥0. The critical exponents γ/ν, β/ν, and ν are calculated, and according to the present estimates for the critical exponents, we argue that this random system belongs to the same universality class of the pure 3D ferromagnetic Ising model.  相似文献

We study by Monte Carlo simulations the influence of bond dilution on the three-dimensional Ising model. This paradigmatic model in its pure version displays a second-order phase transition with a positive specific heat critical exponent . According to the Harris criterion disorder should hence lead to a new fixed point characterized by new critical exponents. We have determined the phase diagram of the diluted model, starting from the pure model limit down to the neighbourhood of the percolation threshold. For the estimation of critical exponents, we have first performed a finite-size scaling study, where we concentrated on three different dilutions to check the stability of the disorder fixed point. We emphasize in this work the great influence of the cross-over phenomena between the pure, disorder and percolation fixed points which lead to effective critical exponents dependent on the concentration. In a second set of simulations, the temperature behaviour of physical quantities has been studied in order to characterize the disorder fixed point more accurately. In particular this allowed us to estimate ratios of some critical amplitudes. In accord with previous observations for other models this provides stronger evidence for the existence of the disorder fixed point since the amplitude ratios are more sensitive to the universality class than the critical exponents. Moreover, the question of non-self-averaging at the disorder fixed point is investigated and compared with recent results for the bond-diluted q = 4 Potts model. Overall our numerical results provide evidence that, as expected on theoretical grounds, the critical behaviour of the bond-diluted model is indeed governed by the same universality class as the site-diluted model.Received: 24 February 2004, Published online: 28 May 2004PACS: 05.40.-a Fluctuation phenomena, random processes, noise, and Brownian motion - 64.60.Fr Equilibrium properties near critical points, critical exponents - 75.10.Hk Classical spin models  相似文献

The hard triangle lattice-gas model (lattice-gas on the honeycomb lattice with first neighbour exclusion) is studied by the phenomenological renormalization method. The critical activity is found to be z = 7.85 and the critical exponents suggest that this model belongs to the 2-D Ising universality class.  相似文献

The Monte Carlo (MC) approach is used to check the validity of the scaling relationship for the effective critical exponents in thin Ising films. We investigate this relationship not just in the critical region but throughout the crossover to the expected two-dimensional behavior. Our results indicate that this scaling relationship is very well-fulfilled throughout the entire crossover temperature region, as predicted by a previous renormalization group analysis. The two-dimensional universality class of Ising films is confirmed by means of data collapsing plots for plates with increasing L, up to L=100. The evolution of the maximum value of the effective critical exponents with film thickness is discussed. Received 22 April 1999  相似文献

We report on large-scale Wang-Landau Monte Carlo simulations of the critical behavior of two spin models in two- (2d) and three-dimensions (3d), namely the 2d random-bond Ising model and the pure 3d Blume-Capel model at zero crystal-field coupling. The numerical data we obtain and the relevant finite-size scaling analysis provide clear answers regarding the universality aspects of both models. In particular, for the random-bond case of the 2d Ising model the theoretically predicted strong universality’s hypothesis is verified, whereas for the second-order regime of the Blume-Capel model, the expected d = 3 Ising universality is verified. Our study is facilitated by the combined use of the Wang-Landau algorithm and the critical energy subspace scheme, indicating that the proposed scheme is able to provide accurate results on the critical behavior of complex spin systems.  相似文献

The non-equilibrium phase transitions of the fullyfrustrated (f = 1/2) square lattice Coulomb gas (CG) modeldriven by external electrical fields are studied in the frameworkof the short-time dynamic scaling approach. The criticaltemperature Tc, the static and dynamic critical exponents2β/ν, ν, and z are obtained for several smalldriving fields. The results show that Tc decreases with theincrease of electric field, and 2β/ν and z arestrongly dependent on the external electric field. Interestingly, contrary to the equilibrium case, in the presence of smallelectric field, the calculated exponent ν is close to that inpure 2D Ising model, which provides numerical evidence thatexternal electric field may change the universality class of thef = 1/2 CG system.  相似文献

A study is made of a two-dimensional Ising model with staggered three-spin interactions in one direction and two-spin interactions in the other. The phase diagram of the model and its critical behavior are explored by conventional finite-size scaling and by exploiting relations between mass gap amplitudes and critical exponents predicted by conformal invariance. The model is found to exhibit a line of continuously varying critical exponents, which bifurcates into two Ising critical lines. This similarity of the model with the Ashkin-Teller model leads to a conjecture for the exact critical indices along the nonuniversal critical curve. Earlier contradictions about the universality class of the uniform (isotropic) case of the model are clarified.  相似文献

The critical properties of the three-dimensional fully frustrated Ising model on a cubic lattice are investigated by the Monte Carlo method. The critical exponents α (heat capacity), γ (susceptibility), β (magnetization), and ν (correlation length), as well as the Fisher exponent η, are calculated in the framework of the finite-size scaling theory. It is demonstrated that the three-dimensional frustrated Ising model on a cubic lattice forms a new universality class of the critical behavior.  相似文献

We demonstrate the nontrivial scaling behavior of Ising models defined on (i) a donut-shaped surface and (ii) a curved surface with a constant negative curvature. By performing Monte Carlo simulations, we find that the former model has two distinct critical temperatures at which both the specific heat C(T) and magnetic susceptibility χ(T) show sharp peaks. The critical exponents associated with the two critical temperatures are evaluated by the finite-size scaling analysis; the result reveals that the values of these exponents vary depending on the temperature range under consideration. In the case of the latter model, it is found that static and dynamic critical exponents deviate from those of the Ising model on a flat plane; this is a direct consequence of the constant negative curvature of the underlying surface.  相似文献

The Ising model was introduced in 1920 to describe a uniaxial system of magnetic moments, localized on a lattice, interacting via nearest-neighbour exchange interaction. It is the generic model for a continuous phase transition and arguably the most studied model in theoretical physics. Since it was solved for a two-dimensional lattice by Onsager in 1944, thereby representing one of the very few exactly solvable models in dimensions higher than one, it has served as a testing ground for new developments in analytic treatment and numerical algorithms. Only series expansions and numerical approaches, such as Monte Carlo simulations, are available in three dimensions. This review focuses on Monte Carlo simulation. We build upon a data set of unprecedented size. A great number of quantities of the model are estimated near the critical coupling. We present both a conventional analysis and an analysis in terms of a Puiseux series for the critical exponents. The former gives distinct values of the high- and low-temperature exponents; by means of the latter we can get these exponents to be equal at the cost of having true asymptotic behaviour being found only extremely close to the critical point. The consequences of this for simulations of lattice systems are discussed at length.  相似文献

The critical properties of the two-dimensional Ising and Blume-Capel model on directedsmall-world lattices with quenched connectivity disorder are investigated. The disordered system is simulated by applying the Monte Carlo method with heat bath update algorithm and histogram re-weighting techniques. The critical temperature, as well as the critical exponents are obtained. For both models the critical parameters have been obtained for several values of the rewiring probability p. It is found that these disorder systems do not belong to the same universality class as two-dimensional ferromagnetic model on regular lattices. In particular, the Blume-Capel model, with zero crystal field interaction, on a directedsmall-world lattice presents a second-order phase transition for p < p c , and a first-order phase transition for p > p c , where p c  ≈ 0.25. The critical exponents for p < p c are different from those of the same model on a regular lattice, but are identical to the exponents of the Ising model on directedsmall-world lattice.  相似文献

The influence of random site dilution on the critical properties of the two-dimensional Ising model on a square lattice was explored by Monte Carlo simulations with the Wang-Landau sampling. The lattice linear size was L=20-120 and the concentration of diluted sites q=0.1,0.2,0.3. Its pure version displays a second-order phase transition with a vanishing specific heat critical exponent α, thus, the Harris criterion is inconclusive, in that disorder is a relevant or irrelevant perturbation for the critical behaviour of the pure system. The main effort was focused on the specific heat and magnetic susceptibility. We have also looked at the probability distribution of susceptibility, pseudocritical temperatures and specific heat for assessing self-averaging. The study was carried out in appropriate restricted but dominant energy subspaces. By applying the finite-size scaling analysis, the correlation length exponent ν was found to be greater than one, whereas the ratio of the critical exponents (α/ν) is negative and (γ/ν) retains its pure Ising model value supporting weak universality.  相似文献

The phase transitions (PTs) and critical properties of the antiferromagnetic Ising model on a layered (stacked) triangular lattice have been studied by the Monte Carlo method using a replica algorithm with allowance for the next-nearest-neighbor interactions. The character of PTs is analyzed using the histogram technique and the method of Binder cumulants. It is established that the transition from the disordered to paramagnetic phase in the adopted model is a second-order PT. Static critical exponents of the heat capacity (α), susceptibility (γ), order parameter (β), and correlation radius (ν) and the Fischer exponent η are calculated using the finite-size scaling theory. It is shown that (i) the antiferromagnetic Ising model on a layered triangular lattice belongs to the XY universality class of critical behavior and (ii) allowance for the intralayer interactions of next-nearest neighbors in the adopted model leads to a change in the universality class of critical behavior.  相似文献

We provide an overall picture of the magnetic critical behavior of the Ising and three-state Potts models on fractal structures. The results brought out from Monte Carlo simulations for several Hausdorff dimensions between 1 and 3 show that this behavior can be understood in the framework of weak universality. Moreover, the maxima of the susceptibility follow power laws in a very reliable way, which allows us to calculate the ratio of the exponents γ/ν and the anomalous dimension exponent η in a reliable way. At last, the evolution of these exponents with the Hausdorff dimension is discussed.  相似文献

For systems in the universality class of the three-dimensional Ising model we compute the critical exponents in the local potential approximation (LPA), that is, in the framework of the Wegner–Houghton equation. We are mostly interested in antisymmetric corrections to scaling, which are relatively poorly studied. We find the exponent for the leading antisymmetric correction to scaling ωA≈1.691 in the LPA. This high value implies that such corrections cannot explain asymmetries observed in some Monte Carlo simulations.  相似文献

The static critical properties of the three-dimensional Ising model with quenched disorder are studied by the Monte-Carlo (MC) method on a simple cubic lattice, in which the quenched disorder is distributed as nonmagnetic impurities by the canonical manner. The calculations are carried out for systems with periodic boundary conditions and spin concentrations p=1.0; 0.95; 0.9; 0.8; 0.7; 0.6. The systems of non-linear sizes L×L×L, L=20-60 are researched. On the basis of the finite-size scaling (FSS) theory, the static critical exponents of specific heat α, susceptibility γ, magnetization β, and an exponent of the correlation radius in a studied interval of concentrations p are calculated. It is shown that the three-dimensional Ising model with quenched disorder has two regimes of the critical behavior universality in a dependence on nonmagnetic impurities.  相似文献
