A quantum analysis based on the Dirac equation of the propagation of spinor-electron waves in coupled quantum wells, or equivalently coupled electron waveguides, is presented. The complete optical wave equations for Spin-Up (SU) and Spin-Down (SD) spinor-electron waves in these electron guides couplers are derived from the Dirac equation. The relativistic amplitudes and dispersion equations of the spinor-electron wave-guided modes in a planar quantum coupler formed by two coupled quantum wells, or equivalently by two coupled slab electron waveguides, are exactly derived. The main outcomes related to the spinor modal structure, such as the breaking of the non-relativistic degenerate spin states, the appearance of phase shifts associated with the spin polarization and so on, are shown.  相似文献

In this Letter the approximately analytical bound state solutions of the Dirac equation with the Manning-Rosen potential for arbitrary spin-orbit coupling quantum number k are carried out by taking a properly approximate expansion for the spin-orbit coupling term. In the case of exact spin symmetry, the associated two-component spinor wave functions of the Dirac equation for arbitrary spin-orbit quantum number k are presented and the corresponding bound state energy equation is derived. We study briefly two special cases; the general s-wave problem and the equal scalar and vector Manning-Rosen potential.  相似文献

By using the supersymmetric WKB approximation approach and the functional analysis method, we solve approximately the Dirac equation with the Eckart potential for the arbitrary spin-orbit quantum number κ. The bound state energy eigenvalues and the associated two-component spinors of the Dirac particles are obtained approximately.  相似文献

We study analytically and numerically an optical analogue of Dirac solitons in binary waveguide arrays in the presence of Kerr nonlinearity. Pseudo-relativistic soliton solutions of the coupled-mode equations describing dynamics in the array are analytically derived. We demonstrate that with the found soliton solutions, the coupled mode equations can be converted into the nonlinear relativistic 1D Dirac equation. This paves the way for using binary waveguide arrays as a classical simulator of quantum nonlinear effects arising from the Dirac equation, something that is thought to be impossible to achieve in conventional (i.e. linear) quantum field theory.  相似文献

The nonlinear optical rectification (OR) in the asymmetric double triangular quantum wells (DTQWs) is investigated theoretically. The dependence of OR on the right-well width of the DTQWs is studied, and the influence of the applied electric field on OR is also taken into account. The analytical expression of the OR susceptibility is analyzed by using the compact density-matrix approach and the iterative method and the numerical calculations are presented for the typical GaAs/AlxGa1-xAs asymmetric DTQWs. The results show that the OR susceptibility obtained in this coupled system can reach the magnitude of 10-3 m/V, 2-3 orders of magnitude higher than that in single quantum systems. Moreover, the OR susceptibility is not a monotonic function of the width of the right well, but has complex relationship with it. The calculated results also reveal that an applied electric field has a great influence on the OR susceptibility. Applying an appropriate electric field to a quasi-symmetric or symmetric DTQW can result in a larger OR susceptibility as compared with that obtained in an optimal asymmetric DTQW without electric field.  相似文献

The relativistic Dirac equation in four-dimensional spacetime reveals a coherent relation between the dimensions of spacetime and the degrees of freedom of fermionic spinors. A massless Dirac fermion generates new symmetries corresponding to chirality spin and charge spin as well as conformal scaling transformations. With the introduction of intrinsic W-parity, a massless Dirac fermion can be treated as a Majorana-type or Weyl-type spinor in a six-dimensional spacetime that reflects the intrinsic quantum numbers of chirality spin. A generalized Dirac equation is obtained in the six-dimensional spacetime with a maximal symmetry. Based on the framework of gravitational quantum field theory proposed in Ref. [1] with the postulate of gauge invariance and coordinate independence, we arrive at a maximally symmetric gravitational gauge field theory for the massless Dirac fermion in six-dimensional spacetime. Such a theory is governed by the local spin gauge symmetry SP(1,5) and the global Poincar′e symmetry P(1,5)= SO(1,5) P~(1,5) as well as the charge spin gauge symmetry SU(2). The theory leads to the prediction of doubly electrically charged bosons. A scalar field and conformal scaling gauge field are introduced to maintain both global and local conformal scaling symmetries. A generalized gravitational Dirac equation for the massless Dirac fermion is derived in the six-dimensional spacetime. The equations of motion for gauge fields are obtained with conserved currents in the presence of gravitational effects. The dynamics of the gauge-type gravifield as a Goldstone-like boson is shown to be governed by a conserved energy-momentum tensor, and its symmetric part provides a generalized Einstein equation of gravity. An alternative geometrical symmetry breaking mechanism for the mass generation of Dirac fermions is demonstrated.  相似文献

The covariant differential calculus on the quantum Minkowski space is presented with the help of the generalized Wess-Zumino method and the quantum Pauli matrices. The quantum Dirac matrices are constructed parallel to those in the classical case. Combining these two aspects a q-analogue of Dirac equation follows directly.  相似文献

Dirac equation for electrons in a potential created by quantum well is solved and the three sets of the eigen-functions are obtained. In each set the wavefunction is at the same time the eigen-function of one of the three spin operators, which do not commute with each other, but do commute with the Dirac Hamiltonian. This means that the eigen-functions of Dirac equation describe three independent spin eigen-states. The energy spectrum of electrons confined by the rectangular quantum well is calculated for each of these spin states at the values of energies relevant for solid state physics. It is shown that the standard Rashba spin splitting takes place in one of such states only. In another one, 2D electron subbands remain spin degenerate, and for the third one the spin splitting is anisotropic for different directions of 2D wave vector.  相似文献

The supersymmetry in non-relativistic quantum mechanics is applied as an algebraic method to obtain the solutions of the Dirac equation with spherical symmetry electromagnetic potentials. We show that some of the superpotentials related to ground state of the solvable potentials in non-relativistic quantum mechanics can be used for studying of the Dirac equation.  相似文献

The Dirac equation for Eckart potential and trigonometric Manning Rosen potential with exact spin symmetry is obtained using an asymptotic iteration method. The combination of the two potentials is substituted into the Dirac equation, then the variables are separated into radial and angular parts. The Dirac equation is solved by using an asymptotic iteration method that can reduce the second order differential equation into a differential equation with substitution variables of hypergeometry type. The relativistic energy is calculated using Matlab 2011. This study is limited to the case of spin symmetry. With the asymptotic iteration method, the energy spectra of the relativistic equations and equations of orbital quantum number l can be obtained, where both are interrelated between quantum numbers. The energy spectrum is also numerically solved using the Matlab software, where the increase in the radial quantum number nr causes the energy to decrease. The radial part and the angular part of the wave function are defined as hypergeometry functions and visualized with Matlab 2011. The results show that the disturbance of a combination of the Eckart potential and trigonometric Manning Rosen potential can change the radial part and the angular part of the wave function.  相似文献

By using the basic concepts of the supersymmetric quantum mechanics formalism and the function analysis method, we solve the Dirac equation with vector and scalar potentials and obtain the bound-state solutions for the nuclei in the relativistic P?schl-Teller potential. All of the analyses are prepared under the conditions of the exact spin symmetry and pseudospin symmetry. The exact energy equation and corresponding two-component spinor wave functions for s -wave bound states are obtained analytically.  相似文献

A nonlinear generalisation of Schrodinger’s equation is obtained using information-theoretic arguments. The nonlinearities are controlled by an intrinsic length scale and involve derivatives to all orders thus making the equation mildly nonlocal. The nonlinear equation is homogeneous, separable, conserves probability, but is not invariant under spacetime symmetries. Spacetime symmetries are recovered when a dimensionless parameter is tuned to vanish, whereby linearity is simultaneously established and the length scale becomes hidden. It is thus suggested that if, in the search for a more basic foundation for Nature’s Laws, an inference principle is given precedence over symmetry requirements, then the symmetries of spacetime and the linearity of quantum theory might both be emergent properties that are intrinsically linked. Supporting arguments are provided for this point of view and some testable phenomenological consequences are highlighted. The generalised Klien-Gordon and Dirac equations are also studied, leading to the suggestion that nonlinear quantum dynamics with intrinsically broken spacetime symmetries might be relevant to understanding the problem of neutrino mass (lessness) and oscillations: among other observations, this approach hints at the existence of a hidden discrete family symmetry in the Standard Model of particle physics.  相似文献

The 1/2 spin fermions tunneling at the horizon of n-dimensional Kerr–Anti-de Sitter black hole with one rotational parameter is researched via semi-classical approximation method, and the Hawking temperature and fermions tunneling rate are obtained in this Letter. Using a new method, the semi-classical Hamilton–Jacobi equation is gotten from the Dirac equation in this Letter, and the work makes several quantum tunneling theories more harmonious.  相似文献

In this contribution, we propose a new model for studying the confinement of a spin-half particle to a two-dimensional quantum ring for systems described by the Dirac equation by introducing a new coupling into the Dirac equation. We show that the introduction of this new coupling into the Dirac equation yields a generalization of the two-dimensional quantum ring model proposed by Tan and Inkson [W.-C. Tan, J.C. Inkson, Semicond. Sci. Technol. 11 (1996) 1635] for relativistic spin-half quantum particles.  相似文献

Classical-quantum correspondence has been an intriguing issue ever since quantum theory was proposed. The searching for signatures of classically nonintegrable dynamics in quantum systems comprises the interesting field of quantum chaos. In this short review, we shall go over recent efforts of extending the understanding of quantum chaos to relativistic cases. We shall focus on the level spacing statistics for two-dimensional massless Dirac billiards, i.e., particles confined in a closed region. We shall discuss the works for both the particle described by the massless Dirac equation(or Weyl equation)and the quasiparticle from graphene. Although the equations are the same, the boundary conditions are typically different, rendering distinct level spacing statistics.  相似文献

Using the quantum hydrodynamic (QHD) equations with magnetic field on the Wigner-Maxwell system, the general dielectric tensor and dispersion equation for quantum plasmas were derived. Dispersion relations of one-, two-stream and beam-plasma instabilities in uniform quantum magnetized plasmas are investigated through the new dielectric tensor. The magnetic field which is parallel to the fluid velocity does not work on stream instabilities. The quantum and thermal effects have remarkable impact on two-stream instability. The critical wave number for beam-plasma instability with quantum effects correction is given too.  相似文献

We shall proceed with the construction of normalizable Dirac wave packets for fermionic particles (neutrinos) with dynamics governed by a “modified” Dirac equation with a non-minimal coupling with an external magnetic field. We are not only interested on the analytic solutions of the “modified” Dirac wave equation but also on the construction of Dirac wave packets which can be used for describing the dynamics of some observable physical quantities which are relevant in the context of the quantum oscillation phenomena. To conclude, we discuss qualitatively the applicability of this formal construction in the treatment of chiral (and flavor) oscillations in the theoretical context of neutrino physics. A method to construct non-dissipative non-Dirac-Hermitian relativistic quantum system that is isospectral with a Dirac-Hermitian Hamiltonian is presented. The general technique involves a realization of the basic canonical (anti-)commutation relations involving the Dirac matrices and the bosonic degrees of freedom in terms of non-Dirac-Hermitian operators, which are Hermitian in a Hilbert space that is endowed with a pre-determined positive-definite metric. Several examples of exactly solvable non-dissipative non-Dirac-Hermitian relativistic quantum systems are presented by establishing/employing a connection between Dirac equation and supersymmetry.  相似文献
