The effective one-fluid adiabatic magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations for a multicomponent plasma comprising of electrons, ions, and dust are used to investigate the nonlinear coupling of dust Alfven and dust acoustic waves in the presence of radiation pressure as well as the Jean’s term that arises in a self-gravitating plasma. In this context, the set of Zakharov equations are derived. The soliton solutions in the presence of radiation pressure and Jeans term are separately discussed. It is found that ordinary solitons are obtained in the absence of Jeans term whereas cusp solitons are found in the absence of radiation pressure. To the best of our knowledge, cusp solitons are obtained for the first time for a self-gravitating plasma with Jeans term for an electromagnetic wave in a dusty plasma. The modulational instability is also investigated in the presence of radiation pressure and Jeans term. It is found that the Jeans term drives the system modulationally unstable provided it dominates the dust acoustic and radiation pressure terms whereas the radiation pressure enhances the stability of the system. The relevance of the present investigation in the photodissociation region that separates the HII region from the dense molecular clouds is also pointed out.  相似文献

The Jeans instability of self-gravitating dusty plasma with polarization force is investigated considering the effects of magnetic field, dust temperature and radiative condensation. The condition of Jeans instability and expression of critical Jeans wave number are obtained which depend upon polarization force and dust temperature but these are unaffected by the presence of magnetic field. The radiative heat-loss functions also modify the Jeans condition of instability and expression of critical Jeans wave number. It is observed that the polarization force and ratio of radiative heat-loss functions have destabilizing while magnetic field and dust temperature have stabilizing influence on the growth rate of Jeans instability.  相似文献

Using a test particle approach, the dynamical wake potential has been examined in a homogeneous self-gravitating dusty plasma. The periodic oscillatory potential might lead to an alternative approach to the Jeans instability for the formation of dust agglomeration leading to gravitational collapse of the self-gravitating systems.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze the stability of a homogeneous self-gravitating plasma, having a non-zero resistivity. This study provides a generalization of the Jeans paradigm for determining the critical scale above which gravitational collapse is allowed. We start by discussing the stability of an ideal self-gravitating plasma embedded in a constant magnetic field. We outline the existence of an anisotropic feature of the gravitational collapse. In fact, while in the plane orthogonal to the magnetic field the Jeans length is enhanced by the contribution of the magnetic pressure, outside this plane perturbations are governed by the usual Jeans criterion. The anisotropic collapse of a density contrast is sketched in detail, suggesting that the linear evolution provides anisotropic initial conditions for the non-linear stage, where this effect could be strongly enforced. The same problem is then faced in the presence of non-zero resistivity and the conditions for the gravitational collapse are correspondingly extended. The relevant feature emerging in this resistive scenario is the cancelation of the collapse anisotropy in weakly conducting plasmas. In this case, the instability of a self-gravitating resistive plasma is characterized by the standard isotropic Jeans length in any directions. The limit of very small resistivity coefficient is finally addressed, elucidating how reminiscence of the collapse anisotropy can be found in the different values of the perturbation frequency inside and outside the plane orthogonal to the magnetic field.  相似文献

The effect of polarization force acting on massive charged dust grains is investigated analytically on the Jeans instability of self-gravitating dusty plasma. The gravitational force acting on the massive negatively charged interstellar dust grains are considered in presence of both electrical and polarization forces. The basic equations of the problem are formulated and a general dispersion relation is obtained using plane wave approximation in low frequency wave mode. The effect of polarization force in the dispersion relation of the problem, condition of the Jeans instability and expression of the critical Jeans wave number is examined. The unstable growing modes due to self-gravitational force are studied in the situation when polarization force on the dust grain exceeds over the electrical force in magnitude. It is observed that the polarization force increases the growth rate of the system.  相似文献

The problem of stability of a self-gravitating, infinite homogeneous gas in the presence of magnetic field is investigated. The medium is assumed electrically and thermally conducting. The effect of porosity, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity and Hall current is investigated on the self-gravitating plasma flowing through porous medium. The relevant linearized equations of the problem are stated and dispersion relation is obtained. The effect of Hall current on the condition of the instability of the system is examined for both longitudinal and transverse mode of propagation and found that in longitudinal propagation Hall effect does not change the condition of instability but modifies the Alfvén wave mode. The stability of the system is discussed by applying Routh-Hurwitz criterion and it is found that Jeans criterion determines the stability of the system. Thermal conductivity and porosity have a destabilizing influence on the medium. The general condition for instability of the system is also derived.  相似文献

Dust ion-acoustic solitary waves in unmagnetized quantum plasmas are studied in spherical and cylindrical geometries. Using quantum hydrodynamic model, the electrostatic waves are investigated in the weakly nonlinear limit. A deformed Korteweg-de Vries (dKdV) equation is derived by using the reductive perturbation method and its numerical solutions are also presented. The quantum diffraction and quantum statistical effects incorporated in the system modifies the characteristics of dust ion-acoustic waves in cylindrical and spherical geometries. The role of stationary dust particles in quantum plasmas are also discussed. It is shown that the cylindrical and spherical dust ion-acoustic solitary waves behave quite differently from one-dimensional planar solitary waves in quantum plasmas.  相似文献

The propagation characteristics of magnetization waves, as well as the instabilities of sound waves in a self-gravitating dark interstellar molecular cloud containing ferromagnetic dust grains and baryonic gas clouds, have been theoretically investigated by including the dynamics of both ferromagnetic dust grains and baryonic gases. It has been shown that there exist two types of subsonic or supersonic (depending on the field strength of the magnetization) transverse magnetization waves, which can be regarded as counterparts of Alfvén waves (for the parallel propagation) and magnetosonic waves (for the perpendicular propagation) in a magnetoactive plasma. It has also been found that, in addition to the usual Jeans instability, the sound waves suffer a new type of instability, which is due to the combined effects of the baryonic gas dynamics and self-gravitational field in both weakly and highly collisional regimes.  相似文献

The oscillatory screening and collision-induced quantum interference effects on electron-electron collisions are investigated in dense quantum plasmas. The modified Debye-Hückel potential with the total spin states of the system is considered to obtain the differential electron-electron scattering cross section in quantum plasmas. It is shown that the electron-electron scattering cross section decreases with an increase of the quantum wave number. In addition, the minimum position of the cross section has been appeared with increasing the collision energy at the scattering angle θL=π/4. It is also found that the oscillatory screening effects strongly suppress the cross section near θL=π/4. In addition, it is found that the quantum interference effects suppress the cross section, especially, for the forward and backward scattering cases.  相似文献

The Parikh–Wilczek tunnelling framework, which treats Hawking radiation as a tunnelling process, is investigated once more in this work. The first order correction, the log-corrected entropy-area relation, emerges naturally in the tunnelling picture if we consider the emission of a spherical shell. The second order correction to the emission rate for the Schwarzschild black hole is also calculated. At this level, the entropy of the black hole will contain three parts: the usual Bekenstein–Hawking entropy, a logarithmic term and an inverse area term. We find that the coefficient of the logarithmic term is −1. Thus, apart from a coefficient, our correction to the black hole entropy is consistent with that calculated in loop quantum gravity.  相似文献

We discuss a certain class of two-dimensional quantum systems which exhibit conventional order and topological order, as well as quantum critical points separating these phases. All of the ground-state equal-time correlators of these theories are equal to correlation functions of a local two-dimensional classical model. The critical points therefore exhibit a time-independent form of conformal invariance. These theories characterize the universality classes of two-dimensional quantum dimer models and of quantum generalizations of the eight-vertex model, as well as and non-abelian gauge theories. The conformal quantum critical points are relatives of the Lifshitz points of three-dimensional anisotropic classical systems such as smectic liquid crystals. In particular, the ground-state wave functional of these quantum Lifshitz points is just the statistical (Gibbs) weight of the ordinary two-dimensional free boson, the two-dimensional Gaussian model. The full phase diagram for the quantum eight-vertex model exhibits quantum critical lines with continuously varying critical exponents separating phases with long-range order from a deconfined topologically ordered liquid phase. We show how similar ideas also apply to a well-known field theory with non-Abelian symmetry, the strong-coupling limit of 2+1-dimensional Yang–Mills gauge theory with a Chern–Simons term. The ground state of this theory is relevant for recent theories of topological quantum computation.  相似文献

We try to present a theoretical evolutionary model leading to the excitations of nonlinear pulsational eigenmodes in a planar (1D) collisional dust molecular cloud (DMC) on the Jeans scale. The basis of the adopted model is the Jeans assumption of self-gravitating homogeneous uniform medium for simplification. It is a self-gravitating multi-fluid consisting of the Boltzmann distributed warm electrons and ions, and the inertial cold dust grains with partial ionization. Dust-charge fluctuations, convections and all the possible collisions are included. The grain-charge behaves as a dynamical variable owing mainly to the attachment of the electrons and ions to the grain-surfaces randomly. The adopted technique is centered around a mathematical model based on new solitary spectral patterns within the hydrodynamic framework. The collective dynamics of the patterns is governed by driven Korteweg-de Vries (d-KdV) and Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equations obtained by a standard multiscale analysis. Then, simplified analytical and numerical solutions are presented. The grain-charge fluctuation and collision processes play a key role in the DMC stability. The sensitive dependence of the eigenmode amplitudes on diverse relevant plasma parameters is discussed. The significance of the main results in astrophysical, laboratory and space environments are concisely summarized.  相似文献

The quantum effects on the magnetization due to the ponderomotive force are investigated in cold quantum plasmas. It is shown that the ponderomotive force of the electromagnetic wave induces the magnetization and cyclotron motion in quantum plasmas. We also show that the magnetic field would not be induced without the quantum effects in plasmas. It is also found that the quantum effect enhances the cyclotron frequency due to the ponderomotive force related to the time variation of the field intensity. In addition, it is shown that the magnetization diminishes with an increase of the frequency of the electromagnetic field.  相似文献

The quantum effects on the propagation of surface Langmuir oscillations are investigated in semi-bounded quantum plasmas. The specular reflection method is employed to obtain the dispersion relation of the surface Langmuir oscillations. The results show that the surface Langmuir oscillations can be propagated due to the quantum effects. It is also shown that the quantum effect enhances the propagation velocity. However, in high wave number domains, the group velocity of the propagation of surface Langmuir oscillations decreases with increasing the wave number. In addition, the electrostatic fast surface oscillating mode is found in the semi-bounded cold quantum plasmas.  相似文献

Using the quantum hydrodynamic (QHD) equations with magnetic field on the Wigner-Maxwell system, the general dielectric tensor and dispersion equation for quantum plasmas were derived. Dispersion relations of one-, two-stream and beam-plasma instabilities in uniform quantum magnetized plasmas are investigated through the new dielectric tensor. The magnetic field which is parallel to the fluid velocity does not work on stream instabilities. The quantum and thermal effects have remarkable impact on two-stream instability. The critical wave number for beam-plasma instability with quantum effects correction is given too.  相似文献

Use of surfactants like antimony in MOCVD growth enables novel growth regimes for quantum dots (QDs). The quantum dot ensemble luminescence no longer appears as a single inhomogeneously broadened peak but shows a multi-modal structure. Quantum dot subensembles are forming which differ in height by exactly one monolayer. For the first time the systematic dependence of excitonic properties on quantum dot size and shape can be investigated in detail. Both biexcitonic binding energy and excitonic fine-structure splitting vary from large positive through zero to negative values. Correlation and piezoelectric effects explain the observations.  相似文献

Since there are quantization ambiguities in constructing the Hamiltonian constraint operator in isotropic loop quantum cosmology, it is crucial to check whether the key features of loop quantum cosmology are robust against the ambiguities. In this Letter, we quantize the Lorentz term of the gravitational Hamiltonian constraint in the spatially flat FRW model by two approaches different from that of the Euclidean term. One of the approaches is very similar to the treatment of the Lorentz part of Hamiltonian in loop quantum gravity and hence inherits more features from the full theory. Two symmetric Hamiltonian constraint operators are constructed respectively in the improved scheme. Both of them are shown to have the correct classical limit by the semiclassical analysis. In the loop quantum cosmological model with a massless scalar field, the effective Hamiltonians and Friedmann equations are derived. It turns out that the classical big bang is again replaced by a quantum bounce in both cases. Moreover, there are still great possibilities for the expanding universe to recollapse due to the quantum gravity effect.  相似文献

We theoretically investigate the spin-orbit interaction in GaAs/AlxGa1 x As coupled quantum wells. We consider the contribution of the interface-related Rashba term as well as the linear and cubic Dresselhaus terms to the spin splitting. For the coupled quantum wells which bear an inherent structure inversion asymmetry, the same probability density distribution of electrons in the two step quantum wells results in a large spin splitting from the interface term. If the widths of the two step quantum wells are different, the electron probability density in the wider step quantum well is considerably higher than that in the narrower one, resulting in the decrease of the spin splitting from the interface term. The results also show that the spin splitting of the coupled quantum well is not significantly larger than that of a step quantum well.  相似文献

In semiconductors with inversion asymmetry, spin-orbit coupling gives rise to the well-known Dresselhaus and Rashba effects. If one considers quantum wells with two or more conduction subbands, an additional, intersubband-induced spin-orbit term appears whose strength is comparable to the Rashba coupling, and which remains finite for symmetric structures. We show that the conduction band spin splitting due to this intersubband spin-orbit coupling term is negligible for typical III-V quantum wells.  相似文献
