The authors prove the global exact boundary controllability for the cubic semi-linear wave equation in three space dimensions, subject to Dirichlet, Neumann, or any other kind of boundary controls which result in the well-posedness of the corresponding initial-boundary value problem. The exponential decay of energy is first established for the cubic semi-linear wave equation with some boundary condition by the multiplier method, which reduces the global exact boundary controllability problem to a local one. The proof is carried out in line with [2, 15]. Then a constructive method that has been developed in [13] is used to study the local problem. Especially when the region is star-complemented, it is obtained that the control function only need to be applied on a relatively open subset of the boundary. For the cubic Klein-Gordon equation, similar results of the global exact boundary controllability are proved by such an idea.  相似文献

In this paper, the one-sided exact boundary null controllability of entropy solutions is studied for a class of general strictly hyperbolic systems of conservation laws, whose negative (or positive) characteristic families are all linearly degenerate. The authors first prove the well-posedness of semi-global solutions constructed as the limit of ε-approximate front tracking solutions to the mixed initial-boundary value problem with general nonlinear boundary conditions and they establish various properties of both the ε-approximate front tracking solutions and such solutions. By means of essential modifications of the strategy suggested by the first author in [17] originally for the local exact boundary controllability in the framework of classical solutions, the one-sided local exact boundary null controllability of entropy solutions can then be realized via boundary controls acting on one side of the boundary, where the incoming characteristics are all linearly degenerate.  相似文献

In this paper, by means of a constructive method based on the existence and uniqueness of the semi-global classical solution, we establish the local exact boundary observability for a kind of second-order quasilinear hyperbolic system in which the number of positive eigenvalues and the number of negative ones are not equal. As an application, we obtain the one-sided local exact boundary observability and two-sided local exact boundary observability with fewer observed values for first-order quasilinear hyperbolic systems of diagonal form with boundary conditions in which the diagonal variables corresponding to the positive eigenvalues and those corresponding to the negative ones are decoupled.  相似文献

In this note the exact non-local radiation condition and its local approximations at finite artificial boundary for the exterior boundary value problem of the reduced wave equation in 2 and 3 dimensions are discussed. Based on the asymptotic expansion of Hankel functions for large arguments, an approach for the construction of local approximations is suggested and gives expression of the normal derivative at spherical artificial boundary in terms of linear combination of Laplace-Beltrami operator and its iterates, i.e. tangential derivatives of even order exclusively. The resulting formalism is compatible with the usual variational principle and the finite element methodology and thus seems to be convenient in practical implementation.  相似文献

In this paper, we deliver a normalized synchronization transformation to study the generalized exact boundary synchronization for a coupled system of wave equations with Dirichlet boundary controls. The clear relationship among the generalized exact boundary synchronization, the exact boundary null controllability, and the generalized exactly synchronizable states is precisely obtained. The problem of computing numerically the boundary exact control for the system of linear elasticity in two dimensions is addressed. A numerical method which has been recently proposed in [P. Pedregal, F. Periago, J. Villena, A numerical method of local energy decay for the boundary controllability of time-reversible distributed parameter systems. Stud. Appl. Math. 121 (1) (2008) 27–47] is implemented. In this paper, we present a general ellipsoidal artificial boundary method for three-dimensional exterior problem. The exact artificial boundary condition, which is expressed explicitly by the series concerning the ellipsoidal harmonic functions, is derived and then an equivalent problem in a bounded domain is presented. The error estimates show that the convergence rate depends on the mesh parameter, the number of terms used in the exact artificial boundary condition, and the location of the artificial boundary.  相似文献

Second-order quasi-linear Dirichlet and Neumann problems in four-term divergent form on a simply connected domain with a Lipschitz-continuous boundary of finite length are considered. Derivatives and primitives of distributions on the boundary are defined in such a way that for sufficiently smooth boundary distributions, these derivatives and primitives coincide with derivatives and primitives with respect to arc length on the boundary. Using these concepts, conjugate problems, that is, a pair of one Dirichlet and one Neumann problem, the minima of the energies of which add to zero, are introduced. From the concept of conjugate problems, two-sided bounds for the energy of the exact solution of any given Dirichlet or Neumann problem are constructed. These two-sided bounds for the energy at the exact solution are in turn used to obtain a posteriori error bounds for the norm of the difference of the approximate and exact solutions of the problem. These a posteriori bounds consist of a constant times the sum of the energies of the approximate solutions of the conjugate Dirichlet and Neumann problems and are easily constructed numerically.  相似文献

In this paper,the numerical solutions of heat equation on 3-D unbounded spatial do-main are considered. n artificial boundary Γ is introduced to finite the computationaldomain.On the artificial boundary Γ,the exact boundary condition and a series of approx-imating boundary conditions are derived,which are called artificial boundary conditions.By the exact or approximating boundary condition on the artificial boundary,the originalproblem is reduced to an initial-boundary value problem on the bounded computationaldomain,which is equivalent or approximating to the original problem.The finite differencemethod and finite element method are used to solve the reduced problems on the finitecomputational domain.The numerical results demonstrate that the method given in thispaper is effective and feasible.  相似文献
