Efficient cw 532?nm green-light generation is demonstrated using a periodically poled MgO:LiNbO3 ridge waveguide prepared by a process that combines annealed proton exchange and precise dicing. Performance of waveguides with different widths has been investigated. The 6-μm-wide, 1.6-cm-long uncoated ridge waveguide has achieved a green output power of 127?mW under a coupled fundamental light power of 250?mW. The highest conversion efficiency achieved is 53%.  相似文献

In this work second-harmonic generation by quasi-phase matching (QPM) in Zn-diffused periodically poled lithium niobate channel waveguides is presented. A stable TM?TE conversion by QPM has been found. The results are in good accordance with theoretical estimations obtained by the phase-matching condition, either for the polarisation character of the second-harmonic wave as well as for the spectral range, taking into account the periodicity of the domains. We report the observation of light-enhanced electro-optic spectral tuning in annealed proton-exchanged, asymmetric domain-duty-cycle periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) channel waveguides for second-harmonic generation. The spectral tuning rate was increased rapidly from 0.07 nm/(kV/mm) to a saturated value of 0.32 nm/(kV/mm) in a 30%/70% domain-duty-cycle PPLN waveguide when the fundamental pump power near 1534 nm was increased from 0.6 to 46 mW. The second-harmonic laser power at 767 nm was identified to be the source enhancing the spectral tuning.  相似文献

Third-harmonic generation (THG) in the cw regime from C-band radiation was achieved in annealed proton-exchanged periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguides. By suitable design of fabrication parameters and operating conditions, quasi-phase-matching (QPM) is obtained simultaneously for the second-harmonic generation process (omega-->2omega, first-order QPM) and for the sum-frequency-generation process (omega+2omega-->3omega, third-order QPM), which provides the third harmonic of the pump field. The high overlap between the field profiles of the interacting modes--TM00 at omega and TM10 at 2omega and 3omega--results in what is believed to be the highest ever reported normalized conversion efficiency for THG from telecommunication wavelengths, equal to 0.72%W(-2) cm(-4).  相似文献

Mid-infrared radiation near 2.8 mum was generated by difference-frequency generation in an 80-mm-long periodically poled Ti:LiNbO(3) channel waveguide by pump radiation near 1.55 mum (tunable external-cavity laser) and a signal radiation of 3.391 mum (HeNe laser). We obtained a normalized conversion efficiency of 105% W(-1) , which is to our knowledge the highest value ever reported.  相似文献

Quasi-phase-matched (QPM) UV second-harmonic generation (SHG) in a periodically poled MgO:LiNbO3 waveguide is presented. A ridge-type waveguide with high nonlinearity and strong resistance to photorefractive damage was achieved by use of an ultraprecision machining technique. By use of this waveguide in 1.4-microm periodically poled MgO:LiNbO3, a first-order QPM SHG device for 340-nm UV radiation was demonstrated. In a single-pass configuration, continuous-wave 22.4-mW UV light was generated for a fundamental power of 81 mW, corresponding to a normalized conversion efficiency of 340%/W.  相似文献

A periodically poled magnesium oxide-doped lithium niobate (5 mol% MgO:PPLN) intracavity optical parametric oscillator (OPO) pumped by a diode-pumped Q-switched Nd:YLF laser operating at 1.047μm is reported. A broad continuous tunable middle-infrared (mid-IR) spectrum of 2.69-4.07μm is obtained by changing the crystal grating periods from 28.5 to 31.5 μm. When the diode pump power is 8 W,the intracavity OPO operating at a repetition rate of 10 kHz produces average output power of 0.42 W,corresponding to conversion efficiency of 5.2% from the laser diode pump to OPO idler output.  相似文献

Ultraviolet second-harmonic generation in first-order periodically poled MgO:LiNbO3 is presented. Using a high-voltage multipulse application method, we fabricated a first-order nonlinear grating with a period of 1.8 microm and depth of approximately 150 microm over 10-mm interaction length in a 1-mm-thick MgO:LiNbO3 substrate. In a single-pass configuration, continuous-wave 30-mW UV light at 362.5 nm was generated for a fundamental power of 522 mW, corresponding to a normalized conversion efficiency of 11%/W.  相似文献

We present a feasiblity study of a new method for enhancing the continuously phase matched second harmonic generation in 2D PPLN optical waveguides fabricated using the off-center Czochralski technique and proton-exchange. We show that a periodic variation of the nonlinear coefficient along the transverse coordinate permits for efficient energetic exchanges.  相似文献

We report the dark blue nonlinear Cerenkov radiation by the second harmonic generation (SHG) in a two-layer-stacked hexagonal periodically-poled-MgO: LiNbO3s (PPMgOLNs). Based on the direct wafer bonding of two target PPMgOLNs rotating around the axis perpendicular to the plane wi twelve bright spots as twice of those in a single PPMgOLN are shown at each second-h ring. The experimental results agree with the theoretical ones and present a promising application in the fabrication of three-dimensional (3D) PPMgOLNs.  相似文献

Planar and channel waveguides were fabricatied in periodically poled lithium niobate crystals by 6 MeV O‐ion implantation. Single‐pass second harmonic generation was carried out. Large nonlinear phase shifts were generated with femtosecond pulses at 1560 nm through cascaded quadratic interactions in periodically poled MgO-doped LiNbO3. The off-diagonal component of the nonlinear coefficient was utilized for simultaneous quasi phase matching and group-velocity matching. The effective nonlinear refractive index was varied from -2.9 x 10(-14) to +3.3 x 10(-14) cm2/W by tuning the phase-mismatch conditions.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate backward second-harmonic generation in periodically poled LiNbO(3) with a 3.3- microm domain period. We observed higher-order phase matching near 1490, 1600, and 1700 nm (fundamental) for the 19th, 18th, and 17th orders, respectively, with a maximum conversion efficiency of 0.02%.  相似文献

The first observation of parametric light scattering patterns (rings, lines, and dots) in bulk periodically poled nonlinear media is reported. Development of the scattering patterns proves efficient photorefractive grating recording and considerable parametric gain for seed radiation in this new nonlinear material. Several novel phase-matched parametric processes, caused by the periodicity of the domain structure, are revealed.  相似文献

We demonstrate quasi-phase-matched (QPM) second-harmonic generation (SHG) at the optical communication wavelengths with side-chain polymer waveguides. A ridge waveguide structure is designed to support fundamental mode guiding at both the pump and the second harmonics, leading to a high field overlap integral of the guided modes. The nonlinearity contrast in the +/0 type QPM waveguide is maximized under a QPM poling electrode width of nearly half the coherence length. Using these configurations, we record a normalized SHG efficiency of 2.2% W(-1) cm(-2) in the polymer waveguide.  相似文献

Using an FM-mode-locked Ti:Er:LiNbO3 waveguide laser as the fundamental source, wavelength conversion by cascaded χ(2)(2)-difference frequency generation with a conversion efficiency of up to +3(-4.6) dB was demonstrated at a pulse repetition rate of about 2 (10) GHz. In addition, multi-channel conversion was demonstrated with a fully packaged wavelength converter using a continuous fundamental source. We have demonstrated high-energy quasi-phase-matched optical parametric oscillation in a 3-mm-thick periodically poled 5-mol. % MgO-doped LiNbO3 device with a 32.1-microm grating period and a 30-mm length. With a large-spot-size pump laser of 2.2-mm diameter, we obtained a total output pulse energy of 22 mJ for both the signal (wavelength 1.82 microm) and the idler (2.56 microm) waves at an input pump energy of 46 mJ.  相似文献

An optical parametric generator based on periodically poled LiNbO(3) and pumped by a 2.051-mum-wavelength laser has been demonstrated. Pump pulses of 50-ns duration of 50-Hz repetition frequency were converted into signal and idler pulses in the 3.4-5.2-mum wavelength range in a double-pass pump configuration by a 5-cm-long quasi-phase-matched crystal. An average pump power of 180 mW generated 30-mW average signal power at 3.64-mum wavelength, corresponding to 16.7% signal conversion efficiency.  相似文献
