The electronic spectrum of an icosahedral quasicrystal with a central-atom decoration of the Amman-Mackay network is investigated in the tight-binding approximation. The quasicrystal is described as a structural limit of the optimal cubic approximants with increasing period. The electronic spectra for the first four optimal cubic approximants do not contain the hierarchical gap structure which is typical for the Cantor set of the spectrum of a one-dimensional quasicrystal. At the same time, as the order of the approximant increases, the spectrum becomes singular throughout the entire energy scale. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. The kinetics of recombination of electrons and acceptor-bound holes in AlGaAs-GaAs heterostructure obey a single-exponential decay in the liquid phase of 2D electrons, whereas localization gives rise to a broad spectrum of recombination rates, especially in the magnetic freeze-out regime. This results in a power-law dependence I(t)∝(τ/t)α in the tail of the recombination kinetics, with the universal exponent α=(1−ν)−1 at ν<1 for all the samples examined experimentally in this work. A quantitative theory of creep in linearly heated metallic glasses is developed in terms of new ideas on the kinetics of irreversible structural relaxation under external mechanical stress. The validity of the resulting flow equation has been confirmed by a specially devised experiment. It is shown that the temperature dependence of Newtonian viscosity is determined by the rate of heating and the energy spectrum of irreversible structural relaxation. Fiz. Tverd. The kinetics of the emergence of a polarization vector field after a ferroelectric sample is rapidly cooled is investigated in two cases, in which the rate of growth of the polarization vector is determined by viscous forces of phonon origin or by the diffusion of charged particles. Analytic expressions are obtained for the rate of growth of the polarization vector and the period of the inhomogeneous phase as a function of the degree of supercooling of the sample. Electron-lattice kinetics of metals heated by ultrashort laser pulses   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
We propose a kinetic model of transient nonequilibrium phenomena in metals exposed to ultrashort laser pulses when heated electrons affect the lattice through direct electron-phonon interaction. This model describes the destruction of a metal under intense laser pumping. We derive the system of equations for the metal, which consists of hot electrons and a cold lattice. Hot electrons are described with the help of the Boltzmann equation and equation of thermoconductivity. We use the equations of motion for lattice displacements with the electron force included. The lattice deformation is estimated immediately after the laser pulse up to the time of electron temperature relaxation. An estimate shows that the ablation regime can be achieved. Zh. éksp. Teor. Electron spectra and wave functions of icosahedral quasicrystals have been investigated in the tight-binding approximation using the two-fragment structural model (the Amman-MacKay network) with “central” decoration. A quasicrystal has been considered as a limiting structure in a set of optimal cubic approximants with increasing lattice constants. The method of level statistics indicates that the energy spectrum of an icosahedral quasicrystal contains a singular (nonsmooth) component. The density of electron states has been calculated for the first four optimal cubic approximants of the icosahedral quasicrystal, and the respective Lebesgue measures of energy spectra of these approximants have been obtained. Unlike the case of a one-dimensional quasiperiodic structure, the energy spectrum of an icosahedral quasicrystal does not contain a hierarchical gap structure typical of the Cantor set of measure zero in a one-dimensional quasicrystal. Localization of wave functions in an icosahedral quasicrystal has been studied, and their “critical” behavior has been detected. The effect of disorder due to substitutional impurities on electron properties of icosahedral quasicrystals has been investigated. A study of recombination kinetics in LiB3O5 (LBO) crystals by time-resolved luminescence and absorption spectroscopy is reported. An investigation of the kinetics of transient optical absorption (TOA) and luminescence under ns-scale electron-beam excitation performed within a broad temperature range of 77–500 K and a 1.2–5-eV spectral interval has established that the specific features in the recombination kinetics observed in LBO involve electronic, B2+, and hole, O, trapping centers. The TOA and luminescence kinetics, as well as their temperature dependence, are interpreted by a model of competing hole centers. Summary Nucleation kinetics during the Liquid-Phase Epitaxial (LPE) growth of In1−xGaxP on GaAs substrate have been studied. The behaviour of non-equilibrium solid-liquid interface between In-Ga-P solution and GaAs substrate has been analysed and hence the expression derived for the stress-induced supercooling has been incorporated in the classical heterogeneous nucleation theory. The character of the energy spectrum of an icosahedral quasicrystal is investigated in the tight-binding approximation. It is found that the spectrum does not contain the hierarchical gap structure characteristic for a Cantor set. The initial stages of growth of films and coatings by chemical vapor deposition are investigated. A system of equations is derived which describes the evolution of an island film at the stage of Ostwald ripening under conditions characteristic of vapor deposition. Solving this system of equations yields the dependence of all of the main characteristics of island films (the size distribution function of the islands, the dependence of the mean radius and density of the islands) as functions of time and the spatial coordinate. The spectrum of coupled optical biphonon vibrations in quasicrystals with variation of the atom-atom interaction in accordance with the Fibonacci sequence is investigated. For two-phonon states with strong anharmonicity of the vibrations, a system of recursion equations, which is more complicated than the previously employed system for one-phonon states, is obtained. Calculations using this system made it possible to determine the spectrum of biphonon vibrations in a quasicrystal. It is shown that, on the low-frequency edge of the biphonon band, a scaling-type fine structure of the same form as in biphonon spectra of fractal lattices exists in the density of states. It is found that the energy dependence of the density of states is periodic on a logarithmic scale. The period of this dependence is determined. It is noted that the resonance structure in the density of states is of a nonstandard form in the high-frequency region of the biphonon band. Fiz. Tverd. Kolmogorov’s method for describing statistical crystallization is generalized to take into account disorder in the structure and is applied to the calculation of the decay kinetics of metastable states in linear (in the sense of spatial dimensionality) systems. The theory describes the influence of defects on the dynamics of polymers and domain boundaries between phases on substrates, on crystal growth involving the movement of steps over a surface, on the plastic flow of materials due to the motion of dislocations in a Peierls-Nabarro relief, and on the kinetics of other physical systems. The growth rate of 4He crystals from superfluid is measured in the temperature range 1.2–1.75 K at supersaturations up to 40 mbar. The growth rate is observed to decrease at high supersaturations: above 5 mbar in the bcc phase and above 20 mbar in the hcp phase. The temperature dependence of the kinetic growth factor K is measured in the low-supersaturation limit. In the vicinity of the superfluid transition the kinetic growth factor exhibits critical behavior: K ∝ (T)ε with the exponent ε=0.743±0.123. A jump in the growth factor is observed at the bcc-hcp transition point. The crystal growth kinetics problem is solved in the hydrodynamic approximation, explaining both the temperature behavior of K and the existence of the jump in the modification of the crystal structure. Abstract

The kinetics of crystallization of eutectic alloys Al100-xSix (χ=12, 18, 26 at.%) was investigated under pressures p=0.5, 2.5, 4.5 GPa. The values of supercooling and average grain size of silicon crystals were determined for alloys quenched from melt under different pressures with the cooling rate 103 K/s. The data obtained were used to evaluate quantitatively the pressure dependences of surface tension (between melt and crystal) and activation energy of crystal growth which, in turn, have made it possible to determine the relative change of nucleation frequency and of the rate of crystal growth with pressure.

The possibility is shown, based on the investigation of mechanical properties of the samples obtained under high pressure, for improving the strength and the plasticity of A1-Si alloys by means of high pressure-high temperature treatment.  相似文献

The absorption spectrum of a gas with a large Doppler width and soft collisions between particles is studied. The particles are assumed to have a nonlinear dependence of the resonance frequency on velocity. The shape of the narrow peak in the spectrum resulting from an extremum of this dependence is calculated analytically for the first time. In the absence of collisions it has a characteristic asymmetric shape. Collisions are shown to broaden the line and change its shape. The profile of the probe-field spectrum is obtained for a three-level system with the strong field at an adjacent transition. The effect of phasons and magnetic fields on the electronic spectrum of an icosahedral quasicrystal is investigated in the tight-binding approximation. Phasons smooth the singular spectrum and produce a greater delocalization of the critical wave functions.
