Emission Mössbauer spectroscopy on 57Fe fed by 57Mn ions implanted in the metal oxides ZnO, MgO and Al2O3 has been performed. The implanted ions occupy different lattice sites and charge states. A magnetic part of the spectra in each oxide can be assigned to Fe3?+? ions in a paramagnetic state with unusually long relaxation time observable to temperatures up to several hundreds Kelvin. Earlier expectations that the magnetic spectra could correspond to an ordered magnetic state could not be confirmed. A clear decision for paramagnetism and against an ordered magnetic state was achieved by applying a strong magnetic field of 0.6 Tesla. The relaxation times deduced were compared to spin–lattice relaxation times from electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR).  相似文献

Summary Ho in Au exhibits interesting paramagnetism. The full J=8 angular momentum is partially quenched by the crystal field. At sufficiently low temperatures, however, the ion acts like a Van Vleck paramagnet although it has a non-magnetic doublet at ground state instead of a singlet ground state. An applied magnetic field definitely is enhanced by the large hyperfine interaction and excited ground state mixing. This results in anisotropy all the way up to 1 K which makes166m HoAu an excellent candidate for a secondary thermometer in the 10mK-1 K region. The complete interpretation of the166m Ho3+ Au experiments will require sizeable computing times.  相似文献

It is shown that latent paramagnetism can occur in a lattice having a hexagonal arrangement of magnetic spins. This state is characterized by the fact that the effective exchange interaction on the two sublattices vanishes and the corresponding ions become paramagnetic. Proton magnetic resonance of polycrystalline nickelocene and chromocene has been observed at temperatures between 20 and 1.6 K. It confirms that these metallocenes have temperature-independent paramagnetism in this temperature region. The origin of the observed line shape and position characteristic at low temperature is discussed.  相似文献

The magnetization process of an itinerant-electron magnet Hf0.8Ta0.2Fe2 has been measured in pulsed magnetic fields up to 300 kOe at 4–330 K. The magnetic phase boundary in the high-field region has been determined and the temperature dependence of the high-field susceptibility in the ferromagnetic or saturated paramagnetic state is reported.  相似文献

Recombination involving the core excitation of two electrons, which may be termed trielectronic recombination, has been experimentally identified for the first time. Using Cl13+ ions circulating in the TSR heavy-ion storage ring, we have observed surprisingly strong low-energy trielectronic recombination resonances, comparable to the dielectronic process. At higher electron-ion collision energies, trielectronic recombination is suppressed due to the autoionization of the triply excited intermediate state into excited final states. The formation of the intermediate state depends sensitively on configuration mixing, making trielectronic recombination a challenge to atomic-structure calculations.  相似文献

The magnetic susceptibility of doped and undoped polyparaphenylene has been measured in the temperature range from 5 to 300 K by the static Faraday method and by ESR. In the static experiments, a Curielike paramagnetism has been observed superimposed on a temperature-independent diamagnetic susceptibility. The Pauli paramagnetism of the doped samples is surprisingly small. Its upper limit has been determined to be only 2?10?7 emu cm3/mole-carbon. —The concentration of magnetic centers in the doped samples is several orders of magnitude smaller than the dopant concentration and does not scale with it. — These results indicate a conduction mechanism involving nearly complete spin compensation of the charge carriers.  相似文献

CHCupCl is a two-leg spin-ladder where the Cu++ ions are coupled by superexchange. Its magnetic properties change dramatically as a function of a magnetic field. Below the critical field Hc1, there is a singlet ground state separated from the triplet excited state by an energy gap. Between Hc1 and Hc2, several magnetic phases have been observed. Above 1 K, dynamical studies reveal a disordered quantum critical phase. At lower temperatures, a 3-D ordered phase has been observed in specific heat and NMR studies. New NMR results on the 3D-ordered and quantum critical phases are presented in this short report.  相似文献

Abstract

Off-centre displacement of Ga+ and In+ ions in the triplet relaxed excited state, occurring in the plane perpendicular to the tetragonal Jahn-Teller distortion axis of the centre, has been found. This effect may be caused by the vibronic mixing of the one-electron triplet relaxed excited state of (ns) (np) configuration with two-electron triplet excited states of (np) (np) configuration. Some experimental manifestations of the latter states have been detected.  相似文献

The physical processes that form the resonances of saturated absorption and magnetic scanning in the field of counterpropagating waves of an arbitrary intensity when their polarizations change are numerically simulated. The atomic transition with level moment J = 1 is used as an example to show that the anomalies in the experimental saturated absorption spectra are determined by the degree of opening of the atomic transition. In the case of magnetic scanning, the anomalies are caused by the magnetic coherence induced by the wave fields at the levels of the lower state rather than by its transfer from the excited states, as was proposed earlier.  相似文献

We use a tunneling Hamiltonian model to study the behavior of a thin film superconducting-normal metal sandwich in a parallel magnetic field including the effects of Pauli spin paramagnetism. The field acts to spin-split the density of states of the superconductor and the normal metal. With increasing magnetic field the sandwich displays zero temperature electron spin paramagnetism and a first-order transition to the normal state. We present a calculation of the field dependence of the density of states and order parameter.  相似文献

The conventional atomic beam preparation technique for hydrogen maser operation consists of a six pole magnetic field focussing in combination with adiabatically changing magnetic fields in the transition region between focusser and maser cavity, which results in a state selected, polarized ensemble of hydrogen atoms. Hydrogen maser operation with state selected, but unpolarized atoms has the advantage to reduce considerably the sensitivity of hydrogen maser frequency on coherently excited, low frequency,Δm F =±1 Zeeman transitions. The influence of the magnetic field pattern in the transition region on the energy level population probabilities for the focussed hydrogen beam has been analysed. Atomic beam preparation techniques using non-adiabatically changing magnetic field configurations in the transition region are described. The dependence of hydrogen maser oscillation on the energy level population within the atomic beam is theoretically investigated and the results are used for the analysis of the experimentally achieved atomic beam populations. It has been shown that a pulsed magnetic spin guidance field in the transition region, which switches between adiabatically changing magnetic field configurations and a sudden magnetic field reversal, results in an ensemble of hydrogen atoms with vanishing time averaged polarization, which does not deteriorate the conventionally achieved maser oscillation amplitude.  相似文献

Structural, optical and magnetic studies of Co-doped ZnO have been carried out for bulk as well as thin films. The magnetic studies revealed the superparamagnetic nature for low-temperature synthesized samples, indicating the presence of cobalt metallic clusters, and this is supported by the optical studies. For the high-temperature sintered samples one obtains paramagnetism. The optical studies reveal the presence of Co2+ ions in the tetrahedral sites indicating proper doping. Interestingly, the films deposited by laser ablation from the paramagnetic target showed room temperature ferromagnetism. It appears that the magnetic nature of this system is process dependent.  相似文献

The magnetic state in LaCoO3 changes from the low spin state (S=0) to the mixed state with a thermally excited intermediate spin state (IS) (S=1) above about 50 K. The partially filled e(g) orbital in the IS state has a nature of Jahn-Teller (JT) distortion. The cooperative JT distortion causes an orbital order. We found that all Raman active phonon modes are affected by the excitation of IS Co3+ ions. Especially, the JT vibration mode shows anomalous temperature dependence.  相似文献

We report on radiative lifetimes of 4d5p excited states of Zr III produced in a laser produced plasma. The ions were populated either in the ground state or in metastable states, and the number of ions is strongly dependent on the application of an external magnetic field, which is shown to be very important when using the time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence technique for lifetime measurements in highly charged ions. The experimental lifetime results fall in the region 1–2 ns with statistical uncertainties less than 7%. The experimental values were compared with multi-configuration Hartree-Fock calculations showing an agreement within 12–20%. The experimental values are systematically higher than the theoretical ones.  相似文献

The magnetic susceptibility of metallic samarium and the Al2Sm intermetallic compound has been experimentally studied by the Faraday method in the temperature range of 300–1800 K. It has been shown that the temperature dependences of the magnetic susceptibility of Sm and Al2Sm in a crystalline state can be described in the framework of Van Vleck paramagnetism theory taking into account variable valence and the contribution from the conduction electrons. Using this theoretical interpretation of the data, the effective valence of samarium in the metallic state and in the Al2Sm intermetallic compound has been estimated as a function of the temperature.  相似文献

The strength characteristics of polymers with a paramagnetic impurity in an external magnetic field are considered. It is shown that because of spin-phonon interaction the strength of a polymer should grow with increasing magnetic field at low temperatures when mainly the lowest-lying spin levels are populated. The dependence of the increase in the strength on the magnetic field is different for Kramers and non Kramers ions. It is shown that an increase in the strength upon application of a magnetic field can be observed even for polymers and solids which are not paramagnetic in the unloaded state. Optical absorption spectra of trigonal crystal TbFe3(BO3)4 have been studied in the region of 7F65D4 transition in Tb3+ ion depending on temperature (2–220 K) and on magnetic field (0–60 kOe). Splitting of the Tb3+ excited states, both under the influence of the external magnetic field and effective exchange field of the Fe-sublattice, have been determined. Landé factors of the excited states have been found. Stepwise splitting of one of the absorption lines has been discovered in the region of the Fe-sublattice magnetic ordering temperature. This is shown to be due to the abrupt change of equilibrium geometry of the local Tb3+ ion environment only in the excited state of the Tb3+ ion. In general, the magnetic ordering is accompanied by temperature variations of the Tb3+ local environment in the excited states. The crystal field splitting components have been identified. In particular, it has been shown that the ground state (in D 3 symmetry approximation) consists of two close singlet states of A 1 and A 2 type, which are split and magnetized by effective exchange field of the Fe-sublattice. Orientations of magnetic moments of the excited electronic states relative to that of the ground state have been experimentally determined in the magnetically ordered state of the crystal. A pronounced shift of one of absorption lines has been observed in the vicinity of the TbFe3(BO3)4 structural phase transition. The temperature interval of coexistence of the phases is about 3 K.  相似文献

A series of anthraquinone (C(14)O(2)H(8)) derivatives has been studied by means of electron capture negative ion mass spectrometry (ECNI-MS), photoelectron spectroscopy (PES), and AM1 quantum chemical calculations. Mean lifetimes of molecular negative ions M(-.) (MNI) have been measured. The mechanism of long-lived MNI formation in the epithermal energy region of incident electrons has been investigated. A simple model of a molecule (a spherical potential well with the repulsive centrifugal term) has been applied for the analysis of the energy dependence of cross sections at the first stage of the electron capture process. It has been shown that a temporary resonance of MNI at the energy approximately 0.5 eV corresponds to a shape resonance with lifetime 1-2.10(-13) s in the f-partial wave (l = 3) of the incident electron. The next resonant state of MNI at the energy approximately 1.7 eV has been associated with the electron excited Feshbach resonance (whose parent state is a triplet npi* transition). In all cases the initial electron state of the MNI relaxes into the ground state by means of a radiationless transition, and the final state of the MNI is a nuclear excited resonance with a lifetime measurable on the mass spectrometry timescale. 本文讨论了非晶态NdxT1-x(T=Fe,Co,Ni)薄膜为滋结构,以及在低温下磁化强度随温度变化的反常特性,在20K附近观测到磁化强度有陡降现象,并且在较大的成份范围内所对应的温度基本不变,我们认为,在这类非晶态合金中,当Nd含量超过一定值后,其磁中性态(通称基态)可能同时是散反铁磁性和散铁磁性的共存态,在20K附近的磁化强度发生陡降,是散反铁磁性←→顺磁性相转变的反映,这两种磁结构共存的临界成份相应约为:Nd-Fe情况x≥0.45;Nd-Co,x≥0.20;Nd-Ni,x≥0.08。 关键词:  相似文献
