The third-harmonic-generation (THG) spectrum was measured for a NiBr-chain compound, which is a one-dimensional Mott insulator, in a reflection configuration. A sharp peak and a shoulder structure in the THG spectrum are attributed to three-photon resonance to an exciton and a continuum, respectively. The band-edge energy, the exciton binding energy, and the spectral weights for the exciton and the continuum were determined from comparative studies of linear absorption, THG, and electroreflectance spectra. The excitonic effect is more pronounced in the NiCl chain than in the NiBr chain.  相似文献

We report a magnetoplasmon-polariton spectra in superlattices made up of two alternating media A and B, where one of the layers shows spatial dispersion in its frequency dependent dielectric function. We have used a theoretical approach based on the effective medium theory to determine the expression for the dielectric tensor of the superlattice in the presence of a magnetic field. It is applied to find out the bulk and surface polariton dispersion relation, as well as the Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR) spectra. Numerical results are presented and discussed to illustrate our theoretical predictions, with emphasis on a particular choice of the exciton’s additional boundary conditions (ABC).  相似文献

Optical properties of Tm-doped GaSe single crystals were investigated by measurements of optical absorption and photoluminescence. The single crystals were grown by the Bridgman technique. The X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the single crystals were in the ε-type GaSe phase. The optical absorption spectra showed a sharp absorption peak at 582 nm near the band edge, which is due to direct free exciton. The temperature dependence of the energy of the exciton absorption peak was well fitted by the Varshni relation. In the photoluminescence spectrum at 10 K, we observed a very weak emission peak at 586 nm, a relatively strong emission peak centered at 613 nm, and several sharp and narrow emission peaks in the 790-840 nm region. The two emission peaks at 586 and 613 nm were associated with intrinsic emission lines due to direct free exciton and indirect bound exciton. The emission peaks in the 790-840 nm region, which were related to extrinsic emission, were assigned as due to the 3F43H6 transition of Tm3+ ions with a low symmetry of D3 in the host lattice.  相似文献

Excitation spectra near the indirect exciton edge of AgBr at 1.8K are reported for several luminescence lines from weakly localized excitons. Excitation below the exciton absorption threshold reveals several excited bound exciton states the energetic positions of which are determined. For excitation above the threshold, strong energy dependent structure is observed. It is interpreted in terms of resonant trapping of free excitons in both ground and excited bound exciton states associated with emission of LO(Γ), long wavelength acoustic and intervalley TA(X) and LA(X) phonons as well as combinations and overtones of these. From measurements in doped crystals two bound exciton systems are found to be correlated with Cd2+ and Ca2+, respectively.  相似文献

Resonant X-ray inelastic scattering spectra have been measured in BeO, phenakite (Be2SiO4) and chrysoberyl (BeAl2O4) with the excitation energy near the beryllium K edge.The RIXS spectra excited in the vicinity of the Be 1s core resonance show two principal features: the scattering on a valence excitation (which at higher excitation energies verges into the characteristic Kα emission), and a remarkably strong energy loss sideband to the elastic scattering peak. The energy loss shoulder appears to result from lattice relaxation in the absorption site. The comparison of the RIXS spectra of phenakite, chrysoberyl and BeO shows that the strength of the low energy sideband differs greatly; it is strongest in BeO and weakest in phenakite. The Si 2p RIXS spectra of phenakite also display a similar strong sub-bandgap energy loss tail.To gain further insight to this process, transitions in a system with a single vibrational mode have been modelled. The phonon relaxation has been simulated empirically by “smearing” the photoabsortion-populated vibrational levels with lower levels. This simple model is able to qualitatively explain this wide energy loss shoulder.  相似文献

The lineshape of the exciton-polariton photoluminescence spectra in thin undoped GaAs layers is observed to be a function of the layer thickness. A doublet peak (or alternatively a single peak with a “reabsorption” dip at the maximum) in thick samples is transformed into a “single” peak as the layer thickness is reduced by etching. This behavior is in agreement with a model based on enhanced scattering near the exciton energy. This scattering is a function of the concentration of scattering centers which is fixed in these samples and of the average scattering length; (i.e., the sample thickness).  相似文献

The phase difference Δ between the p and s component of light reflected from a semiconductor in the spectral region of the 1-S exciton is theoretically investigated. The exciton polariton theory used leads to a very good agreement with experimental spectra. No additional assumptions, such as ABC (additional boundary condition) or dead layer are necessary.  相似文献

The B-phycoerythrin hexamer (αβ)6γ of Porphyridium purpureum was isolated and purified. The absorption, circular dichroism, fluorescence and ultrafast time-resolved spectra were obtained. The results showed a double absorption peak at 545 nm and 565 nm and a shoulder peak at 498 nm, and fluorescence emission maxima at 580 nm and 620 nm were observed. The circular dichroism spectra in the near-ultraviolet region were obtained and resolved for the first time, which showed that the two peaks at 260 nm and 305 nm were considered to be correlated to phenylalanine (Phe) and tryptophan (Trp) in a conservative hydrophobic microenvironment, respectively. The circular dichroism spectra in the visible region showed that PEB139α/PEB158β and PEB82α/PEB82β existed as two exciton-coupled bilin pairs. Energy transfer within the exciton-coupled pairs was by exciton splitting, while between the exciton-coupled pairs was by Förster resonance. From the studies of the energy transfer dynamics by ultrafast time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, it was confirmed that the energy transfer of the B-PE hexamer had three time components of 8 ps, 60 ps, and 1200 ps. In addition, the internal energy transfer pathways of B-phycoerythrin hexamer were identified by deconvoluting the fluorescence decay curve at different detection wavelengths.  相似文献

A theoretical calculation is given of the frequency dependence of resonant enhancement of Raman scattering by the normally forbidden 109 cm?1 (Γ12-) optic phonon for incident frequencies near the 1s Yellow exciton energy. The theoretical results are in good agreement with recent experiments. This gives support to a quadrupole-dipole mechanism with Yellow-Blue exciton scattering in the intermediate state.  相似文献

A new bound exciton with the dissociation energy of 32 meV was observed in ZnSe : Cu by electroabsorption. The dependence of the electroabsorption peak on an electric field, the absorption and the photoluminescence spectra show that the bound exciton is associated with Cu2+.  相似文献

Phonon sideband optical spectroscopy determines the energy of the dark K-momentum exciton for (6,5) carbon nanotubes. One-phonon sidebands appear in absorption and emission, split by two zone-boundary (K-point) phonons. Their average energy locates the E11 K-momentum exciton 36 meV above the E11 bright level, higher than available theoretical estimates. A model for exciton-phonon coupling shows the absorbance sideband depends sensitively on the K-momentum exciton effective mass and has minimal contributions from zone-center phonons, which dominate the Raman spectra of carbon nanotubes.  相似文献

Following the many-body treatment of exciton byHaken andSchottky we represent the electronic polarization of the lattice induced by the excess electron and the hole in the Hamiltonian as well as in the wave function by introducing localized pair states and their coupling with the exciton particles. By application of a unitary transformation the pair states may be eliminated and one obtains the effective Schrödinger equation of an exciton consisting of particles dressed with polarization clouds. The coupling coefficients are determined by a minimum condition for the polarization energy. The effective interaction law between electron and hole and their effective masses are investigated explicitly. By transformation of the Schrödinger equation into a system of difference equations and solution of the corresponding secular equation one obtains an expression for the binding energy of the lowest exciton state in the alkali halides, which represents a connection of the “excitation” and “transfer” models. For the iodides of Na, K and Rb the binding energies were calculated using an approximative estimate for the various matrix elements involved. They are in good agreement with the experimentally observed energy differences between the first absorption peak and the small shoulder which indicates the position of the band edge.  相似文献

Emission spectra in indirect gap InBr are measured at liquid helium temperature under Ar+ laser excitation. They consist of many weak lines up to 20 with LO phonon energy (16.4 meV) spacing. They shift with incident laser lines. Even-numbered lines are stronger than odd-numbered lines. They show resonant enhancements when photon energy of scattered light is near the direct exciton energy, 2.33 eV.  相似文献

We report on a novel peak, the F-line, observed in photoluminescence spectra of GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells (QWs) with various donor layer positions and concentrations. The F-line is well-defined and red shifted by approximately 1.3 meV (dependent on the experimental conditions) relatively the free exciton (FE) in a 200 Å wide QW. The F-line exhibits a strong magnetic field dependence. The enhanced intensity with increasing field is due to an increasing wave function overlap caused by the enhanced localization of the involved charge carriers. In accordance, the derived thermal activation energy for the F-line is magnetic field dependent. The F-line exhibits a diamagnetic shift as expected for an excitonic transition and splits into four components with increasing magnetic field. Another associated higher energy peak, the E-line, is observed preferably in the presence of a magnetic field, between the heavy hole- and light hole-FE in PL excitation spectra. The E-line also exhibits a striking magnetic field and temperature dependence. The observed properties of the F-line with a striking dependence on the excitation intensity, magnetic field and temperature are consistent with the observation of an exciton bound at the negatively charged D- donor state or a negatively charged X- exciton.  相似文献

The effects of electric field on excitons have been investigated experimentally by means of electroabsorption (EA). The behavior of excitons with ionization fields FI of the same order of magnitude as or smaller than typical applied fields is reported. EA spectra associated with excitons in TlBr, PbI2, BiI3, trigonal Se, and α-monoclinic Se will illustrate this case. In this situation the EA signal arises principally from the effect on the exciton ground state, and no finer structure could be detected. The exciton ground state undergoes a shift to higher energies with the applied field. Characteristic dependences with field of the sizes, energy position of the peaks, and zero crossing points of the EA signals have been found. Estimates of exciton parameters can be readily obtained from the EA spectra. Unusual features of the exciton EA spectra PbI2 are discussed. Qualitatively, at least, theoretical predictions are obeyed.  相似文献

The spin transport properties are theoretically investigated when a quantum dot(QD) is side-coupled to Majorana bound states(MBSs) driven by a symmetric dipolar spin battery. It is found that MBSs have a great effect on spin transport properties. The peak-to-valley ratio of the spin current decreases as the coupling strength between the MBS and the QD increases. Moreover, a non-zero charge current with two resonance peaks appears in the system. In the extreme case where the dot–MBS coupling strength is strong enough, the spin current and the charge current are both constants in the non-resonance peak range. When considering the effect of the Zeeman energy, it is interesting that the resonance peak at the higher energy appears one shoulder. And the shoulder turns into a peak when the Zeeman energy is big enough. In addition, the coupling strength between the two MBSs weakens their effects on the currents of the system. These results are helpful for understanding the MBSs signature in the transport spectra.  相似文献
