On Equilibria when Agents Have Multiple Priors

We discuss the existence and the qualitative properties of equilibria when agents have multiple priors and there is only one good in each state of the world. We first prove a general existence result in infinite dimension economies. We then fully describe the equilibria in two special cases. We first consider the case of CEU maximizers that have same capacities. We next consider the case of no aggregate uncertainty. We prove that if agents have non-random initial endowments and are uncertainty averse and maximize the minimal expected utility according to a set of possible priors, then the existence of a common prior is equivalent to the existence of a unique equilibrium, the no-trade equilibrium. We lastly give a mild assumption for indeterminacy of equilibria and compute the dimension of indeterminacy.

Solvability of systems of volterra integral equations of the first kind with piecewise continuous kernels

We construct an asymptotic approximation for solutions of systems of Volterra integral equations of the first kind with piecewise continuous kernels. We use the asymptotics as an initial approximation in the proposed method of successive approximations to the desired solutions. We prove the existence of a continuous solution depending on free parameters and establish sufficient conditions for the existence of a unique continuous solution. We illustrate the proved existence theorems with examples.     

Square of countably compact groups without non-trivial convergent sequences

We show in ZFC that the existence of a countably compact Abelian group without non-trivial convergent sequences implies the existence of a countably compact group whose square is not countably compact.This improves a result obtained by van Douwen in 1980: the existence of a countably compact Boolean group without non-trivial convergent sequences implies the existence of two countably compact groups whose product is not countably compact in ZFC.Hart and van Mill showed in 1991 the existence of a countably compact group whose square is not countably compact under Martin's Axiom for countable posets. We show that the existence of such an example does not depend on some form of Martin's Axiom.     

Extremals for Sobolev and Moser Inequalities in Hyperbolic Space

We review some recent results concernig existence/ non existence/ uniqueness of extremals for Sobolev inequalities in Hyperbolic spaces. We also discuss exponential integrability in the hyperbolic plane and related topics.     

An existence theorem for a generalized self-dual Chern–Simons equation and its application

In this paper, we establish an existence theorem for a generalized self-dual Chern–Simons equation over a doubly periodic domain and use the existence theorem to prove the existence of doubly periodic self-dual vortices in a Maxwell–Chern–Simons model with non-minimal coupling. We find a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of solutions of the generalized Chern–Simons equation. We prove the existence result by using two methods, a super- and sub-solution method and a constrained minimization method. Our main contribution is that we find a general inequality-type constraint by using the second method and it maybe applied to some related problems with the similar structures.

On a New Class of Systems of Generalized Quasi-Variational Inequalities

We introduce new types of systems of generalized quasi-variational inequalities and we prove the existence of the solutions by using results of pair equilibrium existence for free abstract economies. We consider the fuzzy models and we also introduce the random free abstract economy and the random equilibrium pair. The existence of the solutions for the systems of quasi-variational inequalities comes as consequences of the existence of equilibrium pairs for the considered free abstract economies.     

On the Stochastic Wave Equation with Nonlinear Damping

We discuss an initial boundary value problem for the stochastic wave equation with nonlinear damping. We establish the existence and uniqueness of a solution. Our method for the existence of pathwise solutions consists of regularization of the equation and data, the Galerkin approximation and an elementary measure-theoretic argument. We also prove the existence of an invariant measure when the equation has pure nonlinear damping.     

Existence and regularity of solutions for neutral partial functional integrodifferential equations with infinite delay

This paper is concerned with the existence and regularity of solutions for a class of neutral partial functional integrodifferential equations with infinite delay in Banach spaces. We use the theory of resolvent operator developed in R. Grimmer (1982) [29] to show the existence of mild solutions. We give sufficient conditions ensuring the existence of strict solutions. The phase space is axiomatically defined. Our results are applied to prove the existence and regularity of solutions to a Lotka–Volterra model with diffusion.     

Positive solutions of boundary-value problems for disfocal ordinary differential equations

We study the existence of positive solutions of a nonlinear eigenvalue problem for a two-point boundary-value problem for a family of second-order disfocal ordinary differential equations. We apply a cone-theoretic fixed-point theorem and obtain both sufficient conditions for the existence of positive solutions and sufficient conditions for the existence of multiple positive solutions.     

Functionals for the means of observables for one-dimensional infinite-particle systems

We study the problem of the existence of means of observables for infinite-particle systems. Using solutions of the Cauchy problems for the BBGKY hierarchy and for its dual, we prove the local existence in time of the mean-value functionals in the cases where either the observables or the states vary in time. We also discuss the problem of the existence of such functionals for several different classes of observables and for an arbitrary time interval.     

Separability properties of almost — disjoint families of sets

We solve here some problems arising from a work by Hechler [3]. We eliminate extra set-theoretic axioms (MA, in fact) from existence theorems and deal with the existence of disjoint sets.     

Almost automorphy for abstract neutral differential equations via control theory

In this paper we study the existence of almost automorphic solutions for a class of linear neutral functional differential equations with finite delay and values in a Banach space. We show that the existence of an almost automorphic mild solution is related to the approximate controllability of a distributed control system. We applied our results to establish the existence of an almost automorphic solution for a neutral wave equation with delay.

Results for a turbulent system with unbounded viscosities: Weak formulations,existence of solutions,boundedness and smoothness

We consider a circulation system arising in turbulence modelling in fluid dynamics with unbounded eddy viscosities. Various notions of weak solution are considered and compared. We establish existence and regularity results. In particular we study the boundedness of weak solutions. We also establish an existence result for a classical solution.     

Almost Periodic Solutions of Nonlinear Second Order Differential Equations

We provide existence results for almost periodic solutions of nonlinear second order ordinary differential equations. The results extend existence results for periodic solutions of periodic equations, where the existence of periodic sub and supersolutions implied the existence of periodic solutions.     

Almost Automorphic Solutions for Partial Functional Differential Equations with Infinite Delay

In this work, we study the existence of almost automorphic solutions for partial functional differential equations with infinite delay. We assume that the undelayed part is not necessarily densely defined and satisfies the Hille-Yosida condition. We use the so-called reduction principle developed recently in [3], to show the existence of an almost automorphic solution under minimal condition. More precisely, the existence of an almost automorphic solution is proved when there is at least one bounded solution in the positive real half line. We give an application to the Lotka-Volterra model with diffusion.     

On stably quasimonotone hemivariational inequalities

We establish some existence results for variational-hemivariational inequalities of the Hartman-Stampacchia type involving stably quasimonotone set-valued mappings on bounded, closed and convex subsets in reflexive Banach spaces. We also derive a sufficient condition for the existence and boundedness of solutions.     

Necessary and sufficient existence conditions for a boundary control of vibrations of a string and a spherical layer for small times

We find necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a boundary control of vibrations of a string or a spherical layer for critical and subcritical times. We completely analyze the existence of a boundary control of vibrations of a spherical layer by a force on two spheres. We find necessary and sufficient existence conditions for the control. Along with the control problem for vibrations of a spherical layer, we consider a similar control problem for string vibrations.
