Zeta functions v(z; q)= n=1 [jvn(q)]–z and partition functions Zv(t; q)=n exp[–tj vn 2 (q)] related to the zeros jvn(q) of the Bessel q-functions Jv(x; q) and J v (2) (x; q) are studied and explicit formulas for v(2n; q) at n=±1, ±2, ... are obtained. The poles of v(z; q) in the complex plane and the corresponding residues are found. A basis for the Stickelberger ideal is constructed, along with a system of independent units that, together with-, where =exp(2i/m), m 2, m 2 (mod 4), generate the group of circular units of the field Q(). Section 1 of the paper is devoted to extremal problems in the classes of conformal homeomorphisms of the circle and the annulus, connected directly with the problem on the maximum of the conformal modulus in the family of doubly connected domains. In Secs. 2 and 3 one considers the class R of functions f()=c1+c22+... regular and univalent in the circleU={||<1} and such that f(1)f(2)=1 for 12U (the class of Bieberbach-Eilenberg functions). Here one solves the problem of the maximum of |f(0)| in the class of functions f()R with a fixed value f(0, where 0 is an arbitrary point U, and of the maximum of |f(0)| in the entire class R. Let be a nonorientable m-plane bundle over a CW complex X of dimension m or less. Given a 2-plane bundle over X, we wish to know whether can be embedded as a sub-bundle of . The bundle need not be orientable. When is even-dimensional there is the added complication of twisted coefficients. In that case, we use Postnikov decomposition of certain nonsimple fibrations in order to describe the obstructions for the embedding problem. Emery Thomas [11] and [12] treated this problem for and both orientable. The results found here are applied to the tangent bundle of a closed, connected, nonorientable smooth manifold, as a special case.The writing of this paper was partially supported by CNPq grant  相似文献

A representation is obtained for the zeta function of the additive divisor problem;, by means of the spectral characteristics of the automorphic Laplacian. On the basis of this representation, the meromorphic continuability of k(s) to the whole complex plane is proved and a power estimate of the growth of k(s) as |s| in the critical strip 0es1 is obtained. Summary Motivated by different mean value properties, the functional equationsf(x) – f(y)/x–y=[(x, y)], (i)xf(y) – yf(x)/x–y=[(x, y)] (ii) (x y) are completely solved when, are arithmetic, geometric or harmonic means andx, y elements of proper real intervals. In view of a duality between (i) and (ii), three of the results are consequences of other three.The equation (ii) is also solved when is a (strictly monotonic) quasiarithmetic mean while the real interval contains 0 and when is the arithmetic mean while the domain is a field of characteristic different from 2 and 3. Let G denote a semisimple group, a discrete subgroup, B=G/P the Poisson boundary. Regarding invariants of discrete subgroups we prove, in particular, the following:(1) For any -quasi-invariant measure on B, and any probablity measure on , the norm of the operator () on L 2(B,) is equal to (), where is the unitary representation in L 2(X,), and is the regular representation of .(2) In particular this estimate holds when is Lebesgue measure on B, a Patterson–Sullivan measure, or a -stationary measure, and implies explicit lower bounds for the displacement and Margulis number of (w.r.t. a finite generating set), the dimension of the conformal density, the -entropy of the measure, and Lyapunov exponents of .(3) In particular, when G=PSL2() and is free, the new lower bound of the displacement is somewhat smaller than the Culler–Shalen bound (which requires an additional assumption) and is greater than the standard ball-packing bound.We also prove that ()=G() for any amenable action of G and L 1(G), and conversely, give a spectral criterion for amenability of an action of G under certain natural dynamical conditions. In addition, we establish a uniform lower bound for the -entropy of any measure quasi-invariant under the action of a group with property T, and use this fact to construct an interesting class of actions of such groups, related to 'virtual' maximal parabolic subgroups. Most of the results hold in fact in greater generality, and apply for instance when G is any semi-simple algebraic group, or when is any word-hyperbolic group, acting on their Poisson boundary, for example.  相似文献
