The copolymerization of ethylene with triphenylamine (TPA)‐containing α‐olefin monomer 1 using a rac‐Et(Ind)2ZrCl2 ( EBIZr )/MAO catalytic system was investigated to prepare polyethylene with pendent TPA groups. Despite the presence of a large excess of TPA moieties, the polymerization reactions efficiently produce copolymers of high‐molecular‐weight with the comonomer incorporation up to 6.1 mol % upon varying the comonomer concentration in the feed. Inspection of the aliphatic region of the 13C‐NMR spectrum and the estimated copolymerization parameters (r 1 ≈ 0 for 1 and rE ≈ 43 for ethylene) reveal the presence of isolated comonomer units in the polymer chain. While UV–vis absorption measurements of the copolymers show an invariant absorption feature, PL spectra exhibit a slightly red‐shifted emission with increasing content of 1 in the polymer chain. All the copolymers show high thermal stability (Td5 > 436 °C), and the electrochemical stability toward oxidation is also observed. Particularly, the copolymer displays hole‐transporting ability for the stable green emission of Alq3 when incorporated into the hole‐transporting layer of an electroluminescence device. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Copolymerizations of ethylene with 1-hexene have been carried out by using two metallocenes: highly syndiospecific isopropylidene(1-η5-cyclopentadienyl)(1-η5-fluorenyl)-dimethylzirconium (Me2C(Flu)(Cp)ZrMe2, 1) and less syndiospecific (1-fluorenyl-2-cyclopentadienylethane)-dimethylzirconium (Et(Flu)(Cp)ZrMe2, 2), in the presence of [Ph3C][B(C6F5)4] as a cocatalyst. The effect of different types of bridges on the catalytic activity and comonomer reactivity was reported. The ethano bridged 2 compound of a smaller dihedral angle showed much higher activity than the 1 compound in the ethylene homo- and copolymerizations. The catalytic activities of the two compounds were enhanced about twice when a suitable amount of 1-hexene comonomer is present in the feed. The copolymerization of ethylene with 1-hexene revealed a noticeable influence of the type of bridge on the relative reactivity of the 1-hexene. 13C-NMR analysis of copolymers showed that compound 1 is characterized by lower rE, taken as an index of ethylene reactivity, and higher reactivity of 1-hexene. The bridge also affects the distribution of the 1-hexene along the copolymer chain, investigated through their product of reactivity ratios, rErH. The thermal properties and the density of copolymers were not affected by the type of bridge of the metallocenes, but mainly depended on 1-hexene content in the copolymer. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A novel polymer-supported titanium-based catalyst shows high activity and nondecaying kinetic profiles for ethylene polymerization. The presence of 1-hexene comonomer drastically increases the catalyst activity, exhibiting a similarity to the MgCl2-supported catalysts. However, the nondecaying kinetic profiles of copolymerization distinguish this catalyst from the latter. Infrared analysis indicates that the transition metals were immobilized on the polymer support via functional groups. The effects of polymerization conditions on catalyst activity have been assessed. Characterization of the resulting polymer product by means of 13C-NMR, DSC, and SEM demonstrates a branch-free structure with high melting point, high crystallinity, and high molecular weight for the ethylene homopolymer. The reactivity ratios of ethylene-1-hexene copolymerization are evaluated from 13C-NMR analysis data. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Three heteroligated (salicylaldiminato)(β‐enaminoketonato)titanium complexes [3‐But‐2‐OC6H3CH?N(C6F5)][(p‐XC6H4)N?C(But)CHC(CF3)O]TiCl2 ( 3a : X = F, 3b : X = Cl, 3c : X = Br) were synthesized and investigated as the catalysts for ethylene polymerization and ethylene/norbornene copolymerization. In the presence of modified methylaluminoxane as a cocatalyst, these unsymmetric catalysts exhibited high activities toward ethylene polymerization, similar to their parallel parent catalysts. Furthermore, they also displayed favorable ability to efficiently incorporate norbornene into the polymer chains and produce high molecular weight copolymers under the mild conditions, though the copolymerization of ethylene with norbornene leads to relatively lower activities. The sterically open structure of the β‐enaminoketonato ligand is responsible for the high norbornene incorporation. The norbornene concentration in the polymerization medium had a profound influence on the molecular weight distribution of the resulting copolymer. When the norbornene concentration in the feed is higher than 0.4 mol/L, the heteroligated catalysts mediated the living copolymerization of ethylene with norbornene to form narrow molecular weight distribution copolymers (Mw/Mn < 1.20), which suggested that chain termination or transfer reaction could be efficiently suppressed via the addition of norbornene into the reaction medium. Polymer yields, catalytic activity, molecular weight, and norbornene incorporation can be controlled within a wide range by the variation of the reaction parameters such as comonomer content in the feed, reaction time, and temperature. ©2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Copolymers of ethylene/dicyclopentadiene were produced using a Me2Si(Ind)2ZrCl2/methylaluminoxane catalyst system. The melting and crystallization points of the freshly prepared copolymers steadily decreased with increasing comonomer concentration. This was attributed to increased comonomer concentration in the polymer. When the comonomer incorporation, as measured by 13C NMR, is plotted against the comonomer concentration in the reactor, a plateau appears at concentrations higher than 0.12 mol/L. At concentrations greater than 0.12 mol/L time dependant crosslinking begins to be observed in the copolymers after exposure to air for several months. This crosslinking is also apparent in the thermosetting behavior of the copolymers when they are allowed sufficient time to crosslink. Copolymers with lower comonomer concentrations possess melting enthalpies even after several weeks, suggesting that there is a threshold concentration of 0.12 mol/L for the crosslinking process. Tensile tests of thermoplastic samples showed that incorporation of ca. 5 mol% of comonomer into the polyethylene main chain results in a semi-elastomeric material which possesses high strain recovery and whose strain hardening is similar to that observed for the homopolymer.  相似文献

Vanadium(Ⅲ) complexes bearing thiophenol-phosphine ligands (2a-2b) (2-R-6-PPh2-C6H2S) VCl2(THF)2 (2a: R=H; 2b: R=Me3Si) were prepared from VCl3(THF)3 by treating with 1.0 equiv of the ligand in tetrahydrofuran in the presence of excess triethylamine. The two complexes were characterized by FTIR and mass spectra as well as elemental analyses. On activation with Et2AlCl, these complexes exhibited high catalytic activities (up to 22.1 kg PE/(mmolV·h·bar)) even at high temperature (70℃), and produced high molecular weight polymers with unimodal molecular weight distributions, indicating the polymerization took place in a single-site nature. This result may be attributed to benefits of introduction of second-row donor atoms for adjusting charge density of the vanadium centers. In addition, these complexes also exhibited high catalytic activities for ethylene/1-hexene copolymerization. Catalytic activity, comonomer incorporation and polymer molecular weight can be controlled in a wide range by the variation of catalyst structure and the reaction parameters such as Al/V molar ratio, comonomer feed concentration and polymerization reaction temperature.  相似文献

Copolymerizations of ethylene and α-olefins (1-hexene and 1-octene) using a supported catalyst derived from the activation of a zirconocene aluminohydride complex with PMAO and MMAO are reported. The supported (nBu-Cp2ZrH3AlH2)/SiO2/MAO system was evaluated by high-throughput techniques, in order to find approaches to the optimal copolymerization conditions. The polymerization reactions were carried out in a parallel polymerization reactors system (PPR) by Symyx Technologies, Inc. The screening of the activity of the supported system and the molecular weight (MW) of the polymers and copolymers obtained in the PPR, allowed us to optimize copolymerization conditions, like hydrogen (H2) addition to control MW and molecular weight distribution (MWD), polymerization temperature, cocatalyst ratio, and solvent type. The copolymerization reactions were scaled-up in order to validate the performance of the catalytic system at higher polymerization scales, according to the results obtained in the combinatorial phase. The scaled-up copolymerizations of ethylene with 1-hexene and 1-octene, showed high activities and MW, and low comonomer incorporation (from 0.3 to 1.3 mol-%, determined by 13C NMR). However, the crystallinity (Xc), thermal properties (Tc and Tm) and densities of the polyethylenes obtained with the supported (nBu-Cp2ZrH3AlH2)/SiO2/MAO system, were significantly modified, approaching those of metallocene linear low-density polyethylenes (mLLDPE).  相似文献

The effects of the type and concentration of comonomers 1-hexene and 1-octene in the copolymerization of ethylene were investigated using pre polymerized Ziegler-Natta (catalyst a) and without pre polymerized (catalyst b) catalysts in the presence of hydrogen as a chain transfer agent. The properties of produced polymers were characterized by a set of techniques: (SEM), (EDX), (DSC), (GPC). TIBA and DEAC were used as co catalysts. The results of microscopic and SEM images showed the morphology and structure of catalysts (a) and (b) and the obtained spherical polymers. In the presence of 1-hexene, activity of catalyst (a) was at its maximum. The comonomer 1-octene at 32 mmol presented its activity (1.7 × 103 g polymer/(g cat.h)) and after that, the activities decreased. Copolymerization of ethylene and 1-hexene by catalyst (b) showed higher activity (1.6 × 103 g polymer/ polymer/(g cat.h)) at 40 mmol concentration of 1-hexene in comparison to catalyst (a).  相似文献

A series of vanadium(V) complexes bearing tetradentate amine trihydroxy ligands [NOOO], which differ in the steric and electronic properties, have been synthesized and characterized. Single crystal X‐ray analysis showed that these complexes are five or six coordinated around the vanadium center in the solid state. Their coordination geometries are octahedral or trigonal bipyramidal. In the presence of Et2AlCl, these complexes have been investigated as the efficient catalysts for ethylene polymerization and ethylene/norbornene copolymerization at elevated reaction temperature and produced the polymers with unimodal molecular weight distributions (MWDs), indicating the single site behaviors of these catalysts. Both the steric hindrance and electronic effect of the groups on the tetradentate ligands directly influenced catalytic activity and the molecular weights of the resultant (co)polymers. Other reaction parameters that influenced the polymerization behavior, such as reaction temperature, ethylene pressure, and comonomer concentration, are also examined in detail. Furthermore, high catalytic activities of up to 3.30 kg polymer/mmolV·h were also observed when these complexes were applied to catalyze the copolymerization of ethylene and 5‐norbornene‐2‐methanol, producing the high‐molecular‐weight copolymers (Mw = 157–400 kg/mol) with unimodal MWDs (Mw/Mn = 2.5–3.0) and high polar comonomer incorporations (up to 12.3 mol %). © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of novel nonmetallocene catalysts with phenoxy‐imine ligands was synthesized by the treatment of phthaldialdehyde, substituted phenol with TiCl4, ZrCl4, and YCl3 in THF. The structures and properties of the catalysts were characterized by 1H NMR and elemental analysis. These catalysts were used for copolymerization of ethylene with acrylonitrile after activated by methylaluminoxane (MAO). The effects of copolymerization temperature, Al/M (M = Ti, Zr, and Y) ratio in mole, concentrations of catalyst and comonomer on the polymerization behaviors were investigated in detail. These results revealed that these catalysts were favorable for copolymerization of ethylene with acrylonitrile. Cat. 3 was the most favorable one for the copolymerization of ethylene with acrylonitrile, and the catalytic activity was up to 2.19 × 104 g PE/mol.Ti.h under the conditions: polymerization temperature of 50 °C, Al/Ti molar ratio of 300, catalyst concentration of 1.0 × 10–4 mol/L, and toluene as solvent. The resultant polymer was characterized by FTIR, cross‐polarization magic angle spinning, 13C NMR, WAXD, GPC, and DSC. The results confirmed that the obtained copolymer featured high‐weight–average molecular weight, narrow molecular weight distribution about 1.61–1.95, and high‐acrylonitrile incorporation up to 2.29 mol %. Melting temperature of the copolymer depended on the content of acrylonitrile incorporation within the copolymer chain. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2012  相似文献

Binuclear complexes for olefin polymerization have attracted great attention due to their unique catalytic properties compared with their mononuclear counterparts. Here a series of p-phenylene-bridgedbis-β-carbonylenamine ligands and their binuclear Ti complexes Ti 2 L 1 – Ti 2 L 3 were prepared and characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The binuclear complex Ti 2 L 3 bearing an octylthio sidearm was further investigated by single-crystalX-ray diffraction, which revealed that the ligand was of β-imino enol form, with one titanium atom ligated with six other atoms, forming a deformed octahedral configuration. Furthermore, the ligand in Ti 2 L 3 adopted a cis configuration, which was different from the trans configuration of its m-phenylene-bridged derivatives. These binuclear complexes ( Ti 2 L 1 – Ti 2 L 3 ) could catalyze ethylene polymerization and copolymerization with 1,5-hexadiene(1,5-HD) efficiently under modified methylaluminoxane activation. Compared with the mononuclear complex TiL 5 , the binuclear catalysts were thermally more stable and showed higher activity for ethylene polymerization at higher temperatures. The activity of these titanium complexes for the copolymerization of ethylene with 1,5-HD were over 106 g/mol Ti.h.atm, almost twice as high as for homopolymerization. Compared with the mononuclear analogue TiL 5 and the m-substituted binuclear derivative Ti 2 L 4 , binuclear catalyst Ti 2 L 2 showed higher activity and insertion rate of the comonomer. The activity of Ti 2 L 2 was two to three times higher than that of TiL 5 and Ti 2 L 4 , indicating that p-substituted binuclear catalysts generate clear bimetallic synergistic effect for the copolymerization of ethylene and 1,5-HD. Meanwhile, 1,5-HD takes 1,3-cyclopentyl form in the polymer by 1,3-insertion. The copolymer prepared by binuclear catalysts had higher molecular weight and wider molecular weight distribution than that prepared by the mononuclear catalyst.  相似文献

(tBuC5H4)TiCl2(N=CtBu2) ( 1 ) exhibited remarkable catalytic activities (12,000–43,700 kg‐polymer/mol‐Ti·h) and efficient comonomer incorporation in ethylene copolymerization with tetracyclododecene (TCD) in the presence of methylaluminoxane, and the catalytic activity by 1 increased even at 60 °C. The resultant polymers are high molecular weight amorphous poly(ethylene‐co‐TCD)s (Mn = 5.88–7.03 × 105) with uniform compositions (with high Tg values, 108–203 °C); a linear relationship between Tg values and the TCD contents was observed. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of novel vanadium(III) complexes bearing heteroatom‐containing group‐substituted salicylaldiminato ligands [RN?CH(ArO)]VCl2(THF)2 (Ar = C6H4, R = C3H2NS, 2a ; C7H4NS, 2c ; C7H5N2, 2d ; Ar = C6H2tBu2 (2,4), R = C3H2NS, 2b ) have been synthesized and characterized. Structure of complex 2c was further confirmed by X‐ray crystallographic analysis. The complexes were investigated as the catalysts for ethylene polymerization in the presence of Et2AlCl. Complexes 2a–d exhibited high catalytic activities (up to 22.8 kg polyethylene/mmolV h bar), and affording polymer with unimodal molecular weight distributions at 25–70 °C in the first 5‐min polymerization, whereas produced bimodal molecular weight distribution polymers at 70 °C when polymerization time prolonged to 30 min. The catalyst structure plays an important role in controlling the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of the resultant polymers produced in 30 min polymerization. In addition, ethylene/hexene copolymerizations with catalysts 2a–d were also explored in the presence of Et2AlCl, which leads to the high molecular weight and unimodal distributions copolymers with high comonomer incorporation. Catalytic activity, comonomer incorporation, and polymer molecular weight can be controlled over a wide range by the variation of catalyst structure and the reaction parameters, such as comonomer feed concentration, polymerization time, and polymerization reaction temperature. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We describe the synthesis of [bis(N-(3-tert-butylsalicylidene)anilinato)] titanium (IV) dichloride (Ti-FI complex) and examine the effects of comonomer (feed concentration and type) on its catalytic performance and properties of the resulting polymers. Ethylene/1-hexene and ethylene/1-octene copolymers were prepared through copolymerization using Ti-FI catalyst, activated by MAO cocatalyst at 323 K and 50 psi ethylene pressure at various initial comonomer concentrations. The obtained copolymers were characterized by DSC, GPC and 13C-NMR. The results indicate that Ti-FI complex performs as a high potential catalyst, as evidenced by high activity and high molecular weight and uniform molecular weight distribution of its products. Nevertheless, the bulky structure of FI catalyst seems to hinder the insertion of α-olefin comonomer, contributing to the pretty low comonomer incorporation into the polymer chain. The catalytic activity was enhanced with the comonomer feed concentration, but the molecular weight and melting temperature decreased. By comparison both sets of catalytic systems, namely ethylene/1-hexene and ethylene/1-octene copolymerization, the first one afforded better activity by reason of easier insertion of short chain comonomer. Although 1-hexene copolymers also exhibited higher molecular weight than 1-octene, no significant difference in both melting temperature and crystallinity can be noticed between these comonomers.  相似文献

A number of metallocene/methylaluminoxane (MAO) catalysts have been compared for ethylene/propylene copolymerizations to find relationship between the polymerization activities, copolymer structures, and copolymerization reactivity ratio with the catalyst structures. Stereorigid racemic ethylene bis (indenyl) zirconium dichloride and the tetrahydro derivative exhibit very high activity of 10 7 g (mol Zr h bar)?1, giving copolymers having comonomer compositions about the same as the feed compositions, molecular weights increasing with the increase of ethylene in the feed, random incorporation of comonomers, and narrow molecular weight distribution indicative of a single catalytic species. Nonbridged bis (indenyl) zirconium behaved differently, favoring the incorporation of ethylene over propylene, producing copolymers whose molecular weight decreases with the increase of ethylene in the feed, broad molecular weight distribution, and a methanol soluble fraction. This catalyst system contains two or more active species. Simple methallocene catalysts have much lower polymerization activities. CpTiCl2/MAO produced copolymers with tendency toward alternation, whereas Cp2HfCl2/MAO gave copolymer containing short blocks of monomers.  相似文献

Summary: As known, the pore structure of the catalytic support plays a decisive role during the polymerization reactions determining intra-particle mass and heat transport phenomena. In this work, several ethylene polymerizations have been carried out by using as catalytic support different mesostructured materials with unimodal and bimodal pore size distributions in order to evaluate the influence of this pore size distribution on the catalytic behavior. Calcined mesoporous materials were impregnated with the catalytic system MAO/(nBuCp)2ZrCl2 and used for ethylene polymerization and ethylene/1-hexene copolymerizations, at 70 °C and 5 bar of ethylene pressure. Polyethylenes obtained were characterized by GPC, DSC and Crystaf. Results indicate that porous structure of the support has a significant influence on polymerization activity and polymer properties. Despite the catalyst bimodal pore size distribution, only ethylene/1-hexene copolymers presented a bimodal chemical composition distribution.  相似文献

The polymerization and copolymerization of vinylcyclohexane with α-olefins in the presence of several heterogeneous and homogeneous catalytic systems were studied. It was shown that, with respect to activity in the polymerization of vinylcyclohexane, the tested catalysts can be arranged in the following order: α-TiCl3 < titanium-magnesium catalyst < metallocene catalyst. Poly(vinylcyclohexane) prepared with heterogeneous catalytic systems is a solid semicrystalline polymer. The properties of polymers synthesized with homogeneous systems differ substantially depending on the type of the metallocene used. In the presence of metallocenes with a C 2 symmetry, crystalline powderlike products arise, while in the case of metallocenes with C 1 and C s symmetries, polymerization yields amorphous viscous products. Molecular-mass distributions of poly(vinylcyclohexane) samples prepared using both heterogeneous titanium-magnesium catalysts and homogeneous metallocene complexes show a bimodal pattern, indicating the heterogeneity of active centers of these catalysts. Upon introduction of a comonomer (ethylene, propylene, and 1-hexene) into the reaction mixture, the activity of all studied catalytic systems increases. When Me2C(3-Me-Cp)(Flu)ZrCl2 and rac-Me2SiInd2ZrCl2 are used as catalysts, the degree of crystallinity of the copolymers grows owing to the presence of ethylene or propylene units in poly(vinylcyclohexane) chains.  相似文献

Five novel vanadium(III) complexes [PhN = C(R2)CHC(R1)O]VCl2(THF)2 ( 4a : R1 = Ph, R2 = CF3; 4b : R1 = t‐Bu, R2 = CF3; 4c : R1 = CF3, R2 = CH3; 4d : R1 = Ph, R2 = CH3; 4e : R1 = Ph, R2 = H) have been synthesized and characterized. On activation with Et2AlCl, all the complexes, in the presence of ethyl trichloroacetate (ETA) as a promoter, are highly active precatalysts for ethylene polymerization, and produce high molecular weight and linear polymers. Catalyst activities more than 16.8 kg PE/mmolV h bar and weight‐average molecular weights higher than 173 kg/mol were observed under mild conditions. The copolymerizations of ethylene and norbornene or 1‐hexene with the precatalysts were also explored, which leads to high molecular weight copolymers with high comonomer incorporation. Catalyst activity, comonomer incorporation, and polymer molecular weight as well as polydispersity index can be controlled over a wide range by the variation of precatalyst structure and the reaction parameters such as Al/V molar ratio, comonomer feed concentration, and polymerization temperature. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Homopolymerization of ethylene and 1-hexene and their copolymerizations were compared to investigate the influence of α-olefin on the enhancement of ethylene polymerization rate (Rp), which is often referred to as the “comonomer” effect. With the two homogeneous Ziegler–Natta catalysts, Et[Ind]2ZrCl2/MAO and (π-C5H5)2ZrCl2/MAO (MAO = methylaluminoxane), hexene causes reduction of Rp—in other words a negative “comonomer” effect. In the case of the high activity MgCl2 supported TiCl3 catalysts there is a slight positive “comonomer” effect; the Rp increases by 25 to 70% with the addition of 15 mol % of hexene. The “comonomer” effects in there catalyst systems are much smaller than that observed for the classical TiCl3 catalyst. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献
