We consider the direct and inverse problems for the scattering of a partially penetrable obstacle. Here ‘partially penetrable obstacle’ means that the waves transmit into the obstacle just from partial boundary of the obstacle with the rest of the boundary touching a known perfect and thin scatterer. The solvability of the direct scattering problem is presented using the classical boundary integral equation method. An interesting interior transmission problem is investigated for the purpose of solving the inverse obstacle scattering problem. Then the linear sampling method is proposed to reconstruct the shape and location of the obstacle from near field measurements. We note that the inversion algorithm can be implemented by avoiding the use of background Green function as a test function due to a mixed reciprocal principle.  相似文献

We consider the inverse scattering problem of determining the shape of a partially coated obstacle D. To this end, we solve a scattering problem for the Helmholtz equation where the scattered field satisfies mixed Dirichlet–Neumann-impedance boundary conditions on the Lipschitz boundary of the scatterer D. Based on the analysis of the boundary integral system to the direct scattering problem, we propose how to reconstruct the shape of the obstacle D by using the linear sampling method.  相似文献

We consider the inverse scattering problem of determining the shape of a thin dielectric infinite cylinder having an open arc as cross section. Assuming that the electric field is polarized in the TM mode, this leads to a mixed boundary value problem for the Helmholtz equation defined in the exterior of an open arc in $R^2$. We suppose that the arc has mixed Dirichlet-impedance boundary condition, and try to recover the shape of the arc through the far field pattern by using the factorization method. However, we are not able to apply the basic theorem introduced by Kirsch to treat the far field operator $F$, and some auxiliary operators have to be considered. The theoretical validation of the factorization method to our problem is given in this paper, and some numerical results are presented to show the viability of our method.  相似文献

Consider an inverse scattering problem for a scatterer D ⊂ R3 with impedance type boundary condition. By defining the scatterer shape in a completely new way, we give a constructive method to recover the scatterer shape with unknown impedance coefficient. The uniqueness for this inverse problem is also obtained.  相似文献

We consider the numerical solution for the Helmholtz equation in R~2 with mixed boundary conditions. The solvability of this mixed boundary value problem is estab- lished by the boundary integral equation method.Based on the Green formula,we express the solution in terms of the boundary data. The key to the numerical real- ization of this method is the computation of weakly singular integrals.Numerical performances show the validity and feasibility of our method. The numerical schemes proposed in this paper have been applied in the realization of probe method for inverse scattering problems.  相似文献

We considered the inverse problem of scattering theory for a boundary value problem on the half line generated by Klein–Gordon differential equation with a nonlinear spectral parameter‐dependent boundary condition. We defined the scattering data, and we proved the continuity of the scattering function S(λ); in a special case, the relation for the difference of the logarithm of the scattering function, which is called the Levinson‐type formula, was obtained. This paper is concerned with the direct and inverse problem of scattering of a time‐harmonic wave by a Lipschitz diffraction grating of mixed type. The scattering problem is modeled by the mixed boundary value problem for the Helmholtz equation in the unbounded half‐plane domain above a periodic Lipschitz surface on which a mixed Dirichlet and impedance boundary condition is imposed. We first establish the well‐posedness of the direct problem, employing the variational method, and then extend Isakov's method to prove uniqueness in determining the Lipschitz diffraction grating profile by using point sources lying above the structure. Finally, we develop a periodic version of the linear sampling method to reconstruct the diffraction grating. In this case, the far field equation defined on the unit circle is replaced by a near field equation defined on a line above the surface, which is a linear integral equation of the first kind. Numerical results are also presented to illustrate the efficiency of the method in the case when the height of the unknown grating profile is not very large and the noise level of the near field measurements is not very high. In this paper, we deal with the acoustic inverse scattering problem for reconstructing cracks of possibly different types from the far‐field map. The scattering problem models the diffraction of waves by thin two‐sided cylindrical screens. The cracks are characterized by their shapes, the type of boundary conditions and the boundary coefficients (surface impedance). We give explicit formulas of the indicator function of the probe method, which can be used to reconstruct the shape of the cracks, distinguish their types of boundary conditions, the two faces of each of them and reconstruct the possible material coefficients on them by using the far‐field map. To test the validity of these formulas, we present some numerical implementations for a single crack, which show the efficiency of the proposed method for suitably distributed surface impedances. The difficulties for numerically recovering the properties of the crack in the concave side as well as near the tips are presented and some explanations are given. In this article, we define the Green function for the Dirac operator under two local boundary conditions: the condition associated with a chirality operator (also called the chiral bag boundary condition) and the MIT bag boundary condition. Then we give some applications of these constructions for each Green function. From the existence of the chiral Green function, we derive an inequality on a spin conformal invariant which, in some cases, solves the Yamabe problem on manifolds with boundary. Finally, using the MIT Green function, we give a simple proof of a positive mass theorem previously proved by Escobar.  相似文献

We consider the interior inverse scattering problem of recovering the shape and the surface impedance of an impenetrable partially coated cavity from a knowledge of measured scatter waves due to point sources located on a closed curve inside the cavity. First, we prove uniqueness of the inverse problem, namely, we show that both the shape of the cavity and the impedance function on the coated part are uniquely determined from exact data. Then, based on the linear sampling method, we propose an inversion scheme for determining both the shape and the boundary impedance. Finally, we present some numerical examples showing the validity of our method.

In this paper, we consider the inverse scattering problem for the Sturm–Liouville operator on the half-line [0,∞) with Herglotz function of spectral parameter in the boundary condition. The scattering data of the problem is defined, and its properties are investigated. The main equation is obtained for the solution of the inverse problem and it is shown that the potential is uniquely recovered in terms of the scattering data.  相似文献

We construct the fundamental solution or Green function for a divergence form elliptic system in two dimensions with bounded and measurable coefficients. Our main goal is construct the Green function for the operator with mixed boundary conditions in a Lipschitz domain. Thus we specify Dirichlet data on part of the boundary and Neumann data on the remainder of the boundary. We require a corkscrew or non-tangential accessibility condition on the set where we specify Dirichlet boundary conditions. Our proof proceeds by defining a variant of the space BMO(Ω) that is adapted to the boundary conditions and showing that the solution exists in this space. We also give a construction of the Green function with Neumann boundary conditions and the fundamental solution in the plane.  相似文献

In this article solvability results for the direct electromagnetic scattering problem for a mixed perfectly conducting-impedance screen in a chiral environment is studied. In particular, incident time-harmonic electromagnetic waves in a chiral medium upon a partially coated open surface Γ (the ‘screen’), that satisfies an impedance boundary condition on one side and a perfectly conducting boundary condition on the other side, are considered. We introduce the Beltrami fields, appropriate boundary integral relations for these fields are proved and via them a uniqueness result is established. A variational method in a suitable functional space setting is considered and using a Calderon type operator for the chiral case, existence for the scattering problem is established.  相似文献

Direct and inverse problems for the scattering of cracks with mixed oblique derivative boundary conditions from the incident plane wave are considered, which describe the scattering phenomenons such as the scattering of tidal waves by spits or reefs. The solvability of the direct scattering problem is proven by using the boundary integral equation method. In order to show the equivalent boundary integral system is Fredholm of index zero, some relationships concerning the tangential potential operator is used. Due to the mixed oblique derivative boundary conditions, we cannot employ the factorization method in a usual manner to reconstruct the cracks. An alternative technique is used in the theoretical analysis such that the far field operator can be factorized in an appropriate form and fulfills the range identity theorem. Finally, we present some numerical examples to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the factorization method.  相似文献

The scattering of time-harmonic electromagnetic plane waves by an impenetrable obstacle in a piecewise homogeneous medium is considered. The well-posedness of the direct problem is proved by the variational method. Under the condition that the wave numbers in the innermost and outermost homogeneous layers coincide, we then establish a uniqueness result for the inverse problem, that is, the unique determination of the obstacle and its boundary condition from a knowledge of the electric far field pattern for incident plane waves. The proof is based on a generalization of the mixed reciprocity relation.  相似文献

The inverse problem we consider in this paper is to determine the shape of an obstacle from the knowledge of the far field pattern for scattering of time-harmonic plane waves. In the case of scattering from a sound-soft obstacle, we will interpret Huygens’ principle as a system of two integral equations, named data and field equation, for the unknown boundary of the scatterer and the induced surface flux, i.e., the unknown normal derivative of the total field on the boundary. Reflecting the ill-posedness of the inverse obstacle scattering problem these integral equations are ill-posed. They are linear with respect to the unknown flux and nonlinear with respect to the unknown boundary and offer, in principle, three immediate possibilities for their iterative solution via linearization and regularization. In addition to presenting new results on injectivity and dense range for the linearized operators, the main purpose of this paper is to establish and illuminate relations between these three solution methods based on Huygens’ principle in inverse obstacle scattering. Furthermore, we will exhibit connections and differences to the traditional regularized Newton type iterations as applied to the boundary to far field map, including alternatives for the implementation of these Newton iterations.  相似文献
