The neutrino self-energy operator Σ(p) in a magnetic field is calculated for the case of high-energy neutrinos, this corresponding to the crossed field approximation. The probability of the neutrino decay νe ? W + is found by using the imaginary part of the operator Σ(p). A simple analytic result is obtained in the parameter region that is the most interesting from the physical point of view and which was not considered earlier. The contribution of an external magnetic field to the neutrino magnetic moment is calculated. The result obtained here for this contribution corrects formulas available previously.  相似文献

An infinite-volume limit solution of the thermodynamics of a BCS superconductor containing spin 1/2 and 7/2 magnetic impurities, obtained recently in [D. Borycki, J. Ma?kowiak, Supercond. Sci. Technol. 24, 035007 (2011)] is exploited to derive the expressions for critical magnetic field $\mathcal{H}_c$ (T). The credibility of the resulting thermodynamically limited theoretical equations, which depend on the magnetic coupling constant g and impurity concentration c, is verified on the experimental data for the following superconducting alloys: LaCe, ThGd and SmRh4B4. Good quantitative agreement with experimental data is found for sufficiently small values of c. The discrepancies between theoretical and experimental values of $\mathcal{H}_c$ (T) for larger values of c in case of LaCe and ThGd are reduced by introducing the concept of the effective temperature $\tilde T$ , which accounts for the Coulomb interactions between the electron gas and impurity ions. At low temperatures, the critical magnetic field is found to increase with decreasing temperature T. This enhancement of the critical magnetic field provides evidence of the Jaccarino-Peter effect, which was experimentally observed in the Kondo systems like LaCe, (La1 ? x Ce x )Al2 and also in the pseudoternary compounds, including Sn1 ? x Eu x Mo6S8, Pb1 ? x Eu x Mo6S8 and La1.2 ? x Eu x Mo6S8. The effect of an external magnetic field $\mathcal{H}$ on a BCS superconductor perturbed by magnetic impurities was also studied. On these grounds, by analyzing the dependence of superconducting transition temperature T c on $\mathcal{H}$ of (La1 ? x Ce x )Al2, we have shown, that for certain parameter values, external magnetic field compensates the destructive effect of magnetic impurities.  相似文献

Oblique propagation of light through a layer of a gyrotropic crystal in an ultrasonic field in the presence of an external static magnetic field is analyzed. The problem is solved using the Ambartsumyan method of addition of layers. The results of analysis of dependences of amplitude and polarization characteristics on the wavelength of light are presented for various values of parameters of the problem. Reflection and transmission of light by a bounded periodically layered structure formed by periodically repeated dielectric and semiconductor layers in a magnetic field are studied. The period of the structure is assumed to be much shorter than the wavelength. The magnetic field vector is parallel to the layer plane, and the wave propagation direction is perpendicular to the magnetic field. Passage to the limit of the thin-layer structure is performed. It is shown that the structure in this case is a biaxial crystal. The properties of the reflection and transmission coefficients are studied.  相似文献

We use the Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert equation to investigate field-driven domain wall propagation in magnetic nanotubes. We find that the distortion is maximum as the time becomes infinite and the exact rigid-body solutions are obtained analytically. We also find that the velocity increases with increasing the ratio of inner radius and outer radius. That is to say, we can accelerate domain wall motion not only by increasing the magnetic field, but also by reducing the thickness of the nanotubes.  相似文献

We show that (2+1)-dimensional Dirac oscillators in an external magnetic field is mapped onto the same with reduced angular frequency in absence of magnetic field. This can be used to study the atomic transitions in a radiation field. Relativistic Landau levels are constructed explicitly. Several interesting features of this system are discussed.  相似文献

The quantum mechanics and thermodynamics of SU(2) non-Abelian Chern-Simons particles (non-Abelian anyons) in an external magnetic field are addressed. We derive the N-body Hamiltonian in the (anti-) holomorphic gauge when the Hilbert space is projected onto the lowest Landau level of the magnetic field. In the presence of an additional harmonic potential, the N-body spectrum depends linearly on the coupling (statistics) parameter. We calculate the second virial coefficient and find that in the strong magnetic field limit it develops a step-wise behavior as a function of the statistics parameter, in contrast to the linear dependence in the case of Abelian anyons. For small enough values of the statistics parameter we relate the N-body partition functions in the lowest Landau level to these of SU(2) bosons and find that the cluster (and virial) coefficients dependence on the statistics parameter cancels.  相似文献

A method of integral equations is developed to study anisotropic fluids with planar spins in an external field. As a result, the calculations for these systems appear to be no more difficult than those for ordinary homogeneous liquids. The approach proposed is applied to the ferromagnetic XY spin fluid in a magnetic field using a soft mean spherical closure and the Born-Green-Yvon equation. This provides an accurate reproduction of the complicated phase diagram behavior obtained by cumbersome Gibbs ensemble simulation and multiple histogram reweighting techniques.  相似文献

The scattering of a photon by an electron in an external magnetic field under resonant conditions, when the photon energy is close to the splittings between the Landau levels, is investigated. Formulas are obtained for the cross section of the process taking account of the polarization of the electron. For external fields ~1012 G the resonant Compton cross section is several orders of magnitude greater than the Thompson cross section, and the width of the resonance is tens of electron volts.  相似文献

We show that (2+1)(2+1)-dimensional noncommutative Dirac oscillator in an external magnetic field is mapped onto the same but with reduced angular frequency in absence of magnetic field. We construct the relativistic Landau levels by solving corresponding Dirac equation in (2+1)(2+1)-dimensional noncommutative phase space. All the Landau levels become independent of noncommutative parameter for a critical value of the magnetic field. The effective interaction of a pseudoscalar particle with a photon in a magnetized electron-positron plasma is investigated. The plasma and field contributions to the effective coupling between the pseudoscalar particle and the photon are calculated. In this paper we study the macroscopic behavior of nematic side-chain liquid single crystal elastomers exposed to an external electric or magnetic field. For this purpose we use the framework of a continuum model. The geometries investigated comprise the bend and the twist geometry known from the classical Frederiks transition in low molecular weight liquid crystals. For the bend geometry we find a laterally homogeneous and a two-dimensional undulatory instability, which may compete at onset. In the case of the twist geometry three instabilities can occur at onset, two of which are two dimensional and clearly show undulations. As a major result we propose how the values of the twist coefficient K(2) and the values of the material parameters D(1) and D(2) connected to relative rotations between the director field and the polymer network can be determined from experimental observations. In addition, we explain why a twist experiment is probably the most suitable set-up in order to measure the material parameter D(1).  相似文献

We theoretically and numerically studied the transmission of light through a subwavelength-perforated metal film in the presence of an external magnetic field. The perforated metal films are found to exhibit a magnetoinduced light transparency due to cyclotron resonance. The localized waveguide surface plasmon (SP) resonance mode and periodicity-structure-factor-induced SP resonance mode are discussed by application of a static magnetic field. The field distributions are localized separately on the left and right metal-air surfaces for structure-factor-induced resonance mode. And for localized cavities resonance mode, standing electromagnetic fields can also be entirely localized inside the nanohole region.  相似文献
