Summary 1. The fatty-acid compositions of the oil, the total phospholipids, and the main groups of phospholipids of the seed kernels of the fine-fibered cotton plant of variety 5904-I have been determined. The complete qualitative identity of the acids present in them and quantitative similarity of the acids in the oil and in the total phospholipids have been shown: in the degree of increasing saturation the phospholipids form the following sequence: phosphatidylcholines, phosphatidylethanolamines, phosphatidylinositols.2. It has been established by enzymatic hydrolysis with phospholipase A2 of kufi venom that the unsaturated fatty acids are present in position of the PCh, PE, and PI molecules — to the extent of 90.6%, 96.5%, and 85.4%, respectively.3. From the position distribution of the fatty acids in the phospholipids, their possible molecular compositions have been calculated.Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances, Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR. The compositions of the neutral lipids, glycolipids, phospholipids and fatty acids of the brown algaeLaminaria japonica andLaminaria cichoriodes have been studied. It has been found that the glycolipids are the main lipid classes in these algae. Palmitic, oleic, and polyunsaturated acids with 18 and 20 carbon atoms form the group of main acids. The lipids of both species of theLaminaria genus have a complex composition but they differ by the ratios of their fatty acids.Institute of Marine Biology, Far-eastern Scientific Center, Russian Academy of Sciences, Vladivostok, fax (4232) 310900, e-mail: lipid@biom.marine.su. Summary Three main and two minor components have been isolated from the total phospholipids of the seeds of kenaf of variety Uzbeksii-1574 and have been characterized. The fatty-acid compositions of the total phospholipids, of the triglycerides, and of all the components of the phospholipids have been determined. Enzymatic hydrolysis of the main fractions of the phospholipids has been performed, the position distributions of the fatty acids have been determined, and, from this, the possible molecular compositions of the main components have been calculated. The amide-bound fatty acids and those esterified in the glyceride part of the molecule of the N-acylphosphatidylethanolamines and their lyso analogs have been studied by mild alkaline deacylation. By means of acetolysis followed by lipolysis of the diglyceride acetates obtained with pancreatic lipase the position distributions of the fatty acids in the N-acyl-PE's have been elucidated and it has been shown that position 2 is esterified mainly with unsaturated acids, i.e., the same law is observed as in the main fractions of the phospholipids.Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances, Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR, Tashkent. It has been shown that in the biomass ofMonochrysis lutheri grown under the conditions of an accumulation culture with periodic illumination the level of total lipids, including the majority of classes of glycolipids and some phospholipids, is lower than on continuous illumination. In the fatty acids of the triacylglycerols the amounts of the 20:4 and 20:5 species were somewhat lower while the amounts of polar lipids had increased.Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, fax (3712) 89 14 75. The phospholipid compositions of five species of marine ophiuroids belonging to the classOphiuroidea have been investigated. It has been shown that the phosphatidylethanolamines contain almost solely ether bonds in the first position of the glycerophospholipids. The amount of the plasmalogen form in the phosphatidylethanolamines averages 89.8% (82.3–96.2%) and the amount of the alkyl form 9.8% (3.8–17.7%). The compositions of the fatty acids, fatty aldehydes, and alkyl ethers in the two main classes of phospholipids — phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylcholine — have been studied. The main acids found were eicosatetraenoic and eicosapentaenoic, the total amount of which was 53%. It has been shown that the ophiuroids can be used as promising objects for the investigation of the metabolism of alkoxylipids and for their preparative isolation.Volga Basin Ecological Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Tol'yatti. The dynamics of the amount of total lipids, the ratio of the main classes of lipids, the amount of fatty acids, and the ratio of individual phospholipids in three epiphytic species of lichens from the Zhigulevsk reserve have been followed. It has been shown that all the classes of lipids of the lichens change to some degree or other in this period. The dynamics of the fatty acids has also confirmed a known rule: an increase in the amount of saturated and a decrease in the number of unsaturated fatty acids of the membranes with a rise in the temperature of the environment. This is the first time that the dynamics of the hydroxy acids have been followed.Institute of the Ecology of the Volga Basin, Tol'yatti. The total phospholipids of kenaf of variety Opytnyi-1847 and homogeneous fractions of them have been studied. A known law has been confirmed — positions 2 of the main fractions of phospholipids are esterified predominantly with unsaturated fatty acids and in N-aceylated phospholipids the amide-bound acids are more saturated than the O-acyls.Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR, Tashkent. Summary The fatty-acid composition of the combined phospholipids and also of the main and two minor components of the phospholipids have been studied. On the basis of the results of acid hydrolysis and also IR spectroscopy, the glycerophospholipid structure of the main components of the total material has been confirmed. These main components have been subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis: the position distribution of the fatty acids have been determined and, from these, the possible diglyceride compositions of the phosphatidylcholines, phosphatidylethanolamines, and phosphatidylinositols have been calculated. It has been shown that the phospholipids are accompanied by 35–40% of carbohydrates which have been characterized qualitatively as disaccharides.Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances, Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR, Tashkent. This paper presents the application of an efficient method for extraction and fractionation of intact phospholipids (PLs) from complex sediment matrices and elucidation of their molecular structure by normal-phase HPLC–ESI-MS–MS. Flow-blending extraction was tested with different solvent mixtures and the best recovery of all PLs classes from the sediment matrix was achieved by using methanol–dichloromethane–buffer, 2:1:0.8. The applied LC–ESI-MS system has linearity of R2=0.98 and a detection limit of 0.5 ng/PL, sufficient for reliable identification of complex mixtures of PLs. MS–MS analyses using a triple-quadrupole mass spectrometer enables detection of individual PL side-chain composition and, hence, characterization of the living organisms contributing to the sedimentary organic material. Parallel GC–MS analysis of the hydrolysed phospholipid fatty acids supports the characterized fatty acid patterns determined from intact PLs. The PL inventory of different investigated lacustrine surface sediments shows predominantly high abundance of phosphatidylglycerols and phosphatidylethanolamines and phosphatidyl-mono- and dimethyl-ethanolamines with fatty acyl side-chains typically known from bacteria. In a sample from Lake Baikal intense signals of bacterial 14:0-acyl-PGs were also identified, for the first time in sediments as far as we are aware.  相似文献
