The thermodynamical concept of entropy was introduced by Clausius in 1865 in order to construct the exact differential dS = Q/T , where Q is the heat transfer and the absolute temperature T its integrating factor. A few years later, in the period 1872-1877, it was shown by Boltzmann that this quantity can be expressed in terms of the probabilities associated with the microscopic configurations of the system. We refer to this fundamental connection as the Boltzmann-Gibbs (BG) entropy, namely (in its discrete form) , where k is the Boltzmann constant, and {p i} the probabilities corresponding to the W microscopic configurations (hence ∑W i=1 p i = 1 . This entropic form, further discussed by Gibbs, von Neumann and Shannon, and constituting the basis of the celebrated BG statistical mechanics, is additive. Indeed, if we consider a system composed by any two probabilistically independent subsystems A and B (i.e., , we verify that . If a system is constituted by N equal elements which are either independent or quasi-independent (i.e., not too strongly correlated, in some specific nonlocal sense), this additivity guarantees SBG to be extensive in the thermodynamical sense, i.e., that in the N ≫ 1 limit. If, on the contrary, the correlations between the N elements are strong enough, then the extensivity of SBG is lost, being therefore incompatible with classical thermodynamics. In such a case, the many and precious relations described in textbooks of thermodynamics become invalid. Along a line which will be shown to overcome this difficulty, and which consistently enables the generalization of BG statistical mechanics, it was proposed in 1988 the entropy . In the context of cybernetics and information theory, this and similar forms have in fact been repeatedly introduced before 1988. The entropic form Sq is, for any q 1 , nonadditive. Indeed, for two probabilistically independent subsystems, it satisfies . This form will turn out to be extensive for an important class of nonlocal correlations, if q is set equal to a special value different from unity, noted qent (where ent stands for entropy . In other words, for such systems, we verify that , thus legitimating the use of the classical thermodynamical relations. Standard systems, for which SBG is extensive, obviously correspond to q ent = 1 . Quite complex systems exist in the sense that, for them, no value of q exists such that Sq is extensive. Such systems are out of the present scope: they might need forms of entropy different from Sq, or perhaps --more plainly-- they are just not susceptible at all for some sort of thermostatistical approach. Consistently with the results associated with Sq, the q -generalizations of the Central Limit Theorem and of its extended Lévy-Gnedenko form have been achieved. These recent theorems could of course be the cause of the ubiquity of q -exponentials, q -Gaussians and related mathematical forms in natural, artificial and social systems. All of the above, as well as presently available experimental, observational and computational confirmations --in high-energy physics and elsewhere-- are briefly reviewed. Finally, we address a confusion which is quite common in the literature, namely referring to distinct physical mechanisms versus distinct regimes of a single physical mechanism. This paper is part of the Topical Issue Statistical Power Law Tails in High-Energy Phenomena.  相似文献

We give a new proof of a classical result of Lagnese and Stellmacher, characterizing all Huygens’ operators of the form , where q(x) depends on only one variable. The proof amounts to characterize the Schrödinger operators with a finite heat kernel expansion.  相似文献

Suppose B i :=B(p,r i ) are nested balls of radius r i about a point p in a dynamical system (T,X,μ). The question of whether T i xB i infinitely often (i.o.) for μ a.e. x is often called the shrinking target problem. In many dynamical settings it has been shown that if $E_{n}:=\sum_{i=1}^{n} \mu(B_{i})$ diverges then there is a quantitative rate of entry and $\lim_{n\to\infty} \frac{1}{E_{n}} \sum_{j=1}^{n} 1_{B_{i}} (T^{i} x) \to1$ for μ a.e. xX. This is a self-norming type of strong law of large numbers. We establish self-norming central limit theorems (CLT) of the form $\lim_{ n\to\infty} \frac{1}{a_{n}} \sum_{i=1}^{n} [1_{B_{i}} (T^{i} x)-\mu(B_{i})] \to N(0,1)$ (in distribution) for a variety of hyperbolic and non-uniformly hyperbolic dynamical systems, the normalization constants are $a^{2}_{n} \sim E [\sum_{i=1}^{n} 1_{B_{i}} (T^{i} x)-\mu(B_{i})]^{2}$ . Dynamical systems to which our results apply include smooth expanding maps of the interval, Rychlik type maps, Gibbs-Markov maps, rational maps and, in higher dimensions, piecewise expanding maps. For such central limit theorems the main difficulty is to prove that the non-stationary variance has a limit in probability.  相似文献

We consider the quantum mechanics on the noncommutative plane with the generalized uncertainty relations \({\Delta } x_{1} {\Delta } x_{2} \ge \frac {\theta }{2}, {\Delta } p_{1} {\Delta } p_{2} \ge \frac {\bar {\theta }}{2}, {\Delta } x_{i} {\Delta } p_{i} \ge \frac {\hbar }{2}, {\Delta } x_{1} {\Delta } p_{2} \ge \frac {\eta }{2}\). We show that the model has two essentially different phases which is determined by \(\kappa = 1 + \frac {1}{\hbar ^{2} } (\eta ^{2} - \theta \bar {\theta })\). We construct a operator \(\hat {\pi }_{i}\) commuting with \(\hat {x}_{j} \) and discuss the harmonic oscillator model in two dimensional non-commutative space for three case κ > 0, κ = 0, κ < 0. Finally, we discuss the thermodynamics of a particle whose hamiltonian is related to the harmonic oscillator model in two dimensional non-commutative space.  相似文献

We present explicit formulas for sums of products of Apostol-Bernoulli and Apostol-Euler numbers of the form
$\sum\limits_{_{m_1 , \cdots ,m_N \geqslant n}^{m_1 + \cdots + m_N = n} } {\left( {_{m_1 , \cdots m_N }^n } \right)B_{m_1 } (q) \cdots B_{m_N } (q),} \sum\limits_{_{m_1 , \cdots ,m_N \geqslant n}^{m_1 + \cdots + m_N = n} } {\left( {_{m_1 , \cdots m_N }^n } \right)E_{m_1 } (q) \cdots E_{m_N } (q),}$
where N and n are positive integers, B m (q) n stand for the Apostol-Bernoulli numbers, E m (q) for the Apostol-Euler numbers, and \(\left( {\begin{array}{*{20}c} n \\ {m_1 , \cdots ,m_N } \\ \end{array} } \right) = \frac{{n!}}{{m_1 ! \cdots m_N !}}.\) Our formulas involve Stirling numbers of the first kind. We also derive results for Apostol-Bernoulli and Apostol-Euler polynomials. As an application, for q = 1 we recover results of Dilcher, and our paper can be regarded as a q-extension of that of Dilcher.

Let $\varPhi_{t,\pi}: M_{3}({\mathbb{C}}) \rightarrow M_{3}({\mathbb{C}})$ be a linear map defined by $\varPhi_{t,\pi}(A)=(3-t)\*\sum_{i=1}^{3}E_{ii}AE_{ii}+t\sum_{i=1}^{3}E_{i,\pi (i)}AE_{i,\pi(i)}^{\dag}-A$ , where 0≤t≤3 and π is a permutation of (1,2,3). We show that the Hermitian matrix $W_{\varPhi_{t,\pi}}$ induced by Φ t,π is an optimal entanglement witness if and only if t=1 and π is cyclic.  相似文献

We construct eight operators for a four-particle system, namely one center-of-mass coordinate operator, three relative coordinate operators, one total momentum operator and three mass-weighted relative momentum operators, and give common eigenvectors of four compatible observables , which are composed of four particles’ coordinate and momentum . By compatible we mean such observables can be simultaneously determined. Using the technique of integration within an ordered product (IWOP) of operators, we prove that the common eigenvectors are complete and orthonormal, and hereby qualified for making up a representation.  相似文献

Data collected at LEP at centre-of-mass energies GeV are used to study correlations of the spin of W bosons using events. Spin correlations are favoured by data, and found to agree with the Standard Model predictions. In addition, correlations between the W-boson decay planes are studied in and events. Decay-plane correlations are measured to be consistent with the Standard Model predictions.Received: 26 October 2004, Revised: 15 January 2005, Published online: 3 March 2005  相似文献

By the use of complete orthonormal sets of ${\psi ^{(\alpha^{\ast})}}$ -exponential type orbitals ( ${\psi ^{(\alpha^{\ast})}}$ -ETOs) with integer (for α * = α) and noninteger self-frictional quantum number α *(for α * ≠ α) in standard convention introduced by the author, the one-range addition theorems for ${\chi }$ -noninteger n Slater type orbitals ${(\chi}$ -NISTOs) are established. These orbitals are defined as follows $$\begin{array}{ll}\psi _{nlm}^{(\alpha^*)} (\zeta ,\vec {r}) = \frac{(2\zeta )^{3/2}}{\Gamma (p_l ^* + 1)} \left[{\frac{\Gamma (q_l ^* + )}{(2n)^{\alpha ^*}(n - l - 1)!}} \right]^{1/2}e^{-\frac{x}{2}}x^{l}_1 F_1 ({-[ {n - l - 1}]; p_l ^* + 1; x})S_{lm} (\theta ,\varphi )\\ \chi _{n^*lm} (\zeta ,\vec {r}) = (2\zeta )^{3/2}\left[ {\Gamma(2n^* + 1)}\right]^{{-1}/2}x^{n^*-1}e^{-\frac{x}{2}}S_{lm}(\theta ,\varphi ),\end{array}$$ where ${x=2\zeta r, 0<\zeta <\infty , p_l ^{\ast}=2l+2-\alpha ^{\ast}, q_l ^{\ast}=n+l+1-\alpha ^{\ast}, -\infty <\alpha ^{\ast} <3 , -\infty <\alpha \leq 2,_1 F_1 }$ is the confluent hypergeometric function and ${S_{lm} (\theta ,\varphi )}$ are the complex or real spherical harmonics. The origin of the ${\psi ^{(\alpha ^{\ast})} }$ -ETOs, therefore, of the one-range addition theorems obtained in this work for ${\chi}$ -NISTOs is the self-frictional potential of the field produced by the particle itself. The obtained formulas can be useful especially in the electronic structure calculations of atoms, molecules and solids when Hartree–Fock–Roothan approximation is employed.  相似文献

The CNDO/S method has been applied to the internal effect of Si on the electronic spectrum of the acetone molecule; there is a considerable bathochromic shift and an increase in the \(S_0 \to S_{n\pi ^ * } \) intensity for theα-silyl ketones, while theβ-silyl ketons give only an increase in the intensity of \(S_0 \to S_{n\pi ^ * } \) absorption relative to acetone. The heavy atom substantially alters \(f_{S_0 \to T_{n\sigma ^* } } \) and \(\tau _{T_{n\sigma ^* } }^0 \) but has little effect on \(f_{S_0 \to T_{n\pi ^* } } \) and \(\tau _{T_{n\pi ^* } }^0 \) .  相似文献

GLh(n) ×GLh(m)-covariant (hh)-bosonic[or (hh)-fermionic] algebras are built in terms of thecorresponding Rh and -matrices by contracting theGLq(n) × -covariant q-bosonic (or q-fermionic) algebras , = 1, 2.When using a basis of wherein theannihilation operators are contragredient to thecreation ones, this contraction procedure can be carried out for any n, m values. Whenemploying instead a basis wherein the annihilationoperators, like the creation ones, are irreducibletensor operators with respect to the dual quantumalgebra Uq(gl(n)) , a contraction limit only exists forn, m {1, 2, 4, 6, . . .}. For n = 2, m = 1, andn = m = 2, the resulting relations can be expressed interms of coupled (anti)commutators (as in the classical case), by usingUh(sl(2)) [instead of s1(2)] Clebsch-Gordancoefficients. Some Uh(sl(2)) rank-1/2irreducible tensor operators recently constructed byAizawa are shown to provide a realization of (2, 1).  相似文献

Let $\mathcal{B}(\mathcal{H})$ be the set of all bounded linear operators on the separable Hilbert space  $\mathcal{H}$ . A (generalized) quantum operation is a bounded linear operator defined on  $\mathcal{B}(\mathcal{H})$ , which has the form $\varPhi_{\mathcal{A}}(X)=\sum_{i=1}^{\infty}A_{i}XA_{i}^{*}$ , where $A_{i}\in\mathcal{B}(\mathcal{H})$ (i=1,2,…) satisfy $\sum_{i=1}^{\infty}A_{i}A_{i}^{*}\leq \nobreak I$ in the strong operator topology. In this paper, we establish the relationship between the (generalized) quantum operation $\varPhi_{\mathcal{A}}$ and its dual $\varPhi_{\mathcal {A}}^{\dag}$ with respect to the set of fixed points and the noiseless subspace. In particular, we also partially characterize the extreme points of the set of all (generalized) quantum operations and give some equivalent conditions for the correctable quantum channel.  相似文献

Using massive gauge invariant QCD we show explicity how power like corrections to \(\Pi _{\mu v} \left( q \right) = i\int {dx} e^{iq'x} \left\langle {0\left| {j_\mu ^{em} \left( x \right)\bar j_v^{em} \left( 0 \right)} \right|0} \right\rangle \) arise. Using our result for the 1/q 4 contribution, a one to one correspondence is made between the gluon condensate and the effective gluon mass. By relating this mass to, \(\langle 0|\frac{{\alpha _s }}{\pi }G_{\mu v}^2 |0\rangle \) a value ofm gluon=750 MeV is found at ?q 2=10 GeV2. In addition, within the context of dimensional regularization, a new technique for evaluating two loop momentum integrals with massive propagators is introduced. This method is a derivative of the Mellin transform technique that was applied to ladder diagrams in the days of Reggeisation.  相似文献

Phase space analysis of quantum states is a newly developed topic in quantum optics. In this work we present Wigner phase space distributions for the two-mode binomial state produced by quantum entanglement between a vacuum state and a number state in a beamsplitter. By using two new binomial formulas involving two-variable Hermite polynomials and the so-called entangled Wigner operator, we find that the analytical Wigner function for the binomial state |ξqD(ξ) |q, 0〉 is related to a Laguerre polynomial, i.e.,

$ W\left (\sigma _{,}\gamma \right ) =\frac {(-1)^{q}e^{-\left \vert \gamma \right \vert ^{2}-\left \vert \sigma \right \vert ^{2}}}{\pi ^{2}}L_{q}\left (\left \vert \frac {-\varsigma (\sigma -\gamma )+\sigma ^{\ast }+\gamma ^{\ast }} {\sqrt {1+|\varsigma |^{2}}}\right \vert ^{2}\right ) $

and its marginal distributions are proportional to the module-square of a single-variable Hermite polynomial. Also, the numerical results show that the larger number sum q of two modes lead to the stronger interference effect and the nonclassicality of the states |ξq is stronger for odd q than for even q.
