This paper deals with a new solution concept for partial differential equations in algebras of generalized functions. Introducing regularized derivatives for generalized functions, we show that the Cauchy problem is wellposed backward and forward in time for every system of linear partial differential equations of evolution type in this sense. We obtain existence and uniqueness of generalized solutions in situations where there is no distributional solution or where even smooth solutions are nonunique. In the case of symmetric hyperbolic systems, the generalized solution has the classical weak solution as macroscopic aspect. Two extensions to nonlinear systems are given: global solutions to quasilinear evolution equations with bounded nonlinearities and local solutions to quasilinear symmetric hyperbolic systems.  相似文献

We prove the global existence and uniqueness of solutions of certain mixed hyperbolic-parabolic systems of partial differential equations in one space dimension with initial data that is assumed to be pointwise bounded with possibly large oscillation and with small total energy. The systems we consider are general enough to include the Navier-Stokes equations of compressible flow, the equations of compressible MHD, models of chemical combustion, and others. In particular, the application of our results to the MHD system gives an existence result which is new.  相似文献

We investigate a class of non-linear partial differential equations with discrete state-dependent delays. The existence and uniqueness of strong solutions for initial functions from a Banach space are proved. To get the well-posed initial value problem we restrict our study to a smaller metric space, construct the dynamical system and prove the existence of a compact global attractor.  相似文献

The method of reduction previously known in the theory of Hamiltonian systems with symmetries is developed in order to obtain exact group-invariant solutions of systems of partial differential equations. This method leads to representations of quotient equations which are very convenient for the systematic analysis of invariant solutions of boundary value problems. In the case of partially invariant solutions, necessary and sufficient conditions of their invariance with respect to subalgebras of symmetry algebras are given. This paper deals with the Cauchy problem for nonlinear first order partial functional differential equations. The unknown function is the functional variable in the equation and the partial derivatives appear in a classical sense. A theorem on the local existence of a generalized solution is proved. The initial problem is transformed into a system of functional integral equations for an unknown function and for their partial derivatives with respect to spatial variables. The existence of solutions of this system is proved by using a method of successive approximations. A method of bicharacteristics and integral inequalities are applied.  相似文献

In this paper we present a technique to study the existence of rational solutions for systems of differential equations — for an ordinary differential equation, in particular. The method is relatively straightforward; it is based on a rationality characterisation that involves matrix Padé approximants. It is important to note that, when the solution is rational, we use formal power series “without taking into account” their circle of convergence; at the end of this paper we justify this. We expound the theory for systems of linear first-order ordinary differential equations in the general case. Liouville-type theorems are powerful tools in partial differential equations. Boundedness assumptions of solutions are often imposed in deriving such Liouville-type theorems. In this paper, we establish some Liouville-type theorems without the boundedness assumption of nonnegative solutions to certain classes of elliptic equations and systems. Using a rescaling technique and doubling lemma developed recently in Polá?ik et al. (2007) [20], we improve several Liouville-type theorems in higher order elliptic equations, some semilinear equations and elliptic systems. More specifically, we remove the boundedness assumption of the solutions which is required in the proofs of the corresponding Liouville-type theorems in the recent literature. Moreover, we also investigate the singularity and decay estimates of higher order elliptic equations.  相似文献

We investigate quasilinear systems of parabolic partial differential equations with fully nonlinear boundary conditions on bounded or exterior domains in the setting of Sobolev–Slobodetskii spaces. We establish local wellposedness and study the time and space regularity of the solutions. Our main results concern the asymptotic behavior of the solutions in the vicinity of a hyperbolic equilibrium. In particular, the local stable and unstable manifolds are constructed. This paper presents a partial classification for C type-changing symplectic Monge-Ampère partial differential equations (PDEs) that possess an infinite set of first-order intermediate PDEs. The normal forms will be quasi-linear evolution equations whose types change from hyperbolic to either parabolic or to zero. The zero points can be viewed as analogous to singular points in ordinary differential equations. In some cases, intermediate PDEs can be used to establish existence of solutions for ill-posed initial value problems.  相似文献

In this paper, we are concerned with a system of nonlinear partial differential equations modeling a predator-prey system with cross-diffusion in heterogeneous habitats. Predators are assumed to feed on preys with a Holling type II functional response to prey density and preys are assumed to follow a logistic growth in the absence of predation. The mobility of each classes is assumed to be influenced by the gradient of other classes. The existence result is proved by means of an approximation system, the Faedo-Galerkin method, and the compactness method. The global existence of classical solutions is proved under certain restrictions on the coefficients.  相似文献

In this paper, we are concerned with the existence of solutions of systems determined by abstract functional differential equations with infinite and state‐dependent delay. We establish the existence of mild solutions and the existence of periodic solutions. Our results are based on local Lipschitz conditions of the involved functions. Entire solutions for monostable reaction-diffusion equations with nonlocal delay in one-dimensional spatial domain are considered. A comparison argument is employed to prove the existence of entire solutions which behave as two traveling wave solutions coming from both directions. Some new entire solutions are also constructed by mixing traveling wave solutions with heteroclinic orbits of the spatially averaged ordinary differential equations, and the existence of such a heteroclinic orbit is established using the monotone dynamical systems theory. Key techniques include the characterization of the asymptotic behaviors of solutions as t→−∞ in term of appropriate subsolutions and supersolutions. Two models of reaction-diffusion equations with nonlocal delay arising from mathematical biology are given to illustrate main results.  相似文献
