LetM be a complete Riemannian manifold with Ricci curvature having a positive lower bound. In this paper, we prove some rigidity theorems forM by the existence of a nice minimal hypersurface and a sphere theorem aboutM. We also generalize a Myers theorem stating that there is no closed immersed minimal submanifolds in an open hemisphere to the case that the ambient space is a complete Riemannian manifold withk-th Ricci curvature having a positive lower bound. In this paper, we study complete Riemannian n-manifolds (n ≥ 3) with asymptotically nonnegative Ricci curvature and weak bounded geometry. We show among other things that the total Betti number of such a manifold has polynomial growth of degree n 2 + n. Further more, such a manifold is of finite topological type if the volume growth rate of the metric ball around the base point is less than This work is partly supported by the National Natural Science Foundation (10371047) of China. Ricci curvature and the topology of open manifolds   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6
In this paper, we prove that an open Riemannian n-manifold with Ricci curvature and for some is diffeomorphic to a Euclidean n-space if the volume growth of geodesic balls around p is not too far from that of the balls in . We also prove that a complete n-manifold M with is diffeomorphic to if , where is the volume of unit ball in . Received 5 May, 1997  相似文献

In correspondence with the manifolds of quasi-constant sectional curvature defined (cf [5], [9]) in the Riemannian context, we introduce in the K?hlerian framework the geometric notion of quasi-constant holomorphic sectional curvature. Some characterizations and properties are given. We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for these manifolds to be locally symmetric, Ricci or Bochner flat, K?hler η-Einstein or K?hler-Einstein, etc. The characteristic classes are studied at the end and some examples are provided throughout.   相似文献

Let (Mn,g), n?3, be a smooth closed Riemannian manifold with positive scalar curvature Rg. There exists a positive constant C=C(M,g) defined by mean curvature of Euclidean isometric immersions, which is a geometric invariant, such that Rg?n(n−1)C. In this paper we prove that Rg=n(n−1)C if and only if (Mn,g) is isometric to the Euclidean sphere Sn(C) with constant sectional curvature C. Also, there exists a Riemannian metric g on Mn such that the scalar curvature satisfies the pinched condition

In this paper, we give an upper bound on the growth of π1(M) for a class of manifolds with integral Ricci curvature bounds. This generalizes the main theorem of [8] to the case where the negative part of Ricci curvature is small in an averaged L1- sense.Received: 19 July 2004  相似文献

If E is the total space of a vector bundle over a compact Ricci non-negative manifold, it is known that E×Rp admits a complete metric of positive Ricci curvature for all sufficiently large p. In this paper we establish a small, explicit lower bound for the dimension p.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to classify 4-dimensional Einstein-like manifolds whose Ricci tensor has constant eigenvalues (this being a special kind of curvature homogeneity condition). We give a full classification when the Ricci tensor is of Codazzi type; when the Ricci tensor is cyclic parallel, we classify all such manifolds when not all Ricci curvatures are distinct. In this second case we find a one-parameter family of Riemannian metrics on a Lie groupG as the only possible ones which are irreducible and non-symmetric.  相似文献

For a supergoup , we study closed -manifolds with positive conformal classes. We use the relative Yamabe invariant from [2] to define the conformal cobordism relation on the category of such manifolds. We prove that the corresponding conformal cobordism groups are isomorphic to the cobordism groups defined by Stolz in [19]. As a corollary, we show that the conformal concordance relation on positive conformal classes coincides with the standard concordance relation on positive scalar curvature metrics. Our main technical tools come from analysis and conformal geometry. Received: 22 August 2000 / Published online: 5 September 2002  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to construct a set of Riemannian metrics on a manifold X with the property that will develop a pinching singularity in finite time when evolved by Ricci flow. More specifically, let , where N n is an arbitrary closed manifold of dimension n≥ 2 which admits an Einstein metric of positive curvature. We construct a (non-empty) set of warped product metrics on the non-compact manifold X such that if , then a smooth solution , t∈[0,T) to the Ricci flow equation exists for some maximal constant T, 0<T<∞, with initial value , and
where K is some compact set . Received: 8 March 1999  相似文献

In this paper we present several curvature estimates for solutions of the Ricci flow and the modified Ricci flow (including the volume normalized Ricci flow and the normalized Kähler-Ricci flow), which depend on the smallness of certain local \(L^{\frac{n}{2}}\) integrals of the norm of the Riemann curvature tensor |Rm|, where n denotes the dimension of themanifold. These local integrals are scaling invariant and very natural.  相似文献

In this paper we present several curvature estimates and convergence results for solutions of the Ricci flow, including the volume normalized Ricci flow and the normalized Kähler-Ricci flow. The curvature estimates depend on smallness of certain local space-time integrals of the norm of the Riemann curvature tensor, while the convergence results require finiteness of space-time integrals of this norm. These results also serve as characterization of blow-up singularities.  相似文献

A general method to produce infinitely many pairwise homotopically nonequivalent closed manifolds using the cusp closing construction is presented. An infinite sequence of closed homotopically nonequivalent real analytic Riemannian 5-manifolds with uniformly bounded volumes and uniformly bounded nonpositive sectional curvatures, which are allowed to vanish along codimension two submanifolds only, is constructed using this method. Both authors were supported in part by the Grant R24000 from the International Science Foundation.  相似文献

We study a G-manifold M which admits a G-invariant Riemannian metric g of non-positive curvature. We describe all such Riemannian G-manifolds (M,g) of non-positive curvature with a semisimple Lie group G which acts on M regularly and classify cohomogeneity one G-manifolds M of a semisimple Lie group G which admit an invariant metric of non-positive curvature. Some results on non-existence of invariant metric of negative curvature on cohomogeneity one G-manifolds of a semisimple Lie group G are given.  相似文献

We give an estimate for the Ricci curvature of a complete hypersurface M in a hyperbolic space H and in a sphere S under the same condition. As its application, we give the condition for unboundedness of a complete hypersurface M.  相似文献

The classification theory of Riemann surfaces is generalized to Riemanniann-manifolds in the conformally invariant case. This leads to the study of the existence ofA-harmonic functions of typen with various properties and to an extension of the definition of the classical notions with inclusionsO G O HP O HB O HD . In the classical case the properness of the inclusions were proved rather late, in the 50's by Ahlfors and Tôki. Our main objective is to show that such inclusions are proper also in the generalized case. This research was supported in part by grants from the Academy of Finland and the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF DMS 9003438).  相似文献
