In this paper, the synthesis and characterization of novel oil-soluble fluorinated surfactants were reported. Both Wittig and Wittig-Horner reaction were used for constructing the perfluorinated branch-chain structure, and the latter provided a better method through a three-step synthesis route which was easy worked up and low cost. The surface tension of novel products in toluene, n-hexane and nitromethane with concentrations of 0.1?mol/L, 0.05?mol/L, 0.025?mol/L, 0.0125?mol/L, 0.00625?mol/L and 0?mol/L were examined. The surface tension research of these surfactants showed that they can reduce the surface tension of organic reagents dramatically. For example, compound 1e can reduce the surface tension of nitromethane from 36.6?mN/m to 24.2?mN/m in the concentration of 0.1?mol/L, and the surface tension of toluene was reduced from 28.0?mN/m to 22.7?mN/m when the concentration of compound 1a was 0.1?mol/L.  相似文献

A series of star-like nonionic surfactants (with two hydrophobic and two hydrophilic chains) with different lengths of hydrophilic and hydrophobic arms were synthesised on the basis of pyromellitic acid dianhydride. The hydrophilic arms were formed by polyoxyethylene and hydrophobic ones either by perfluoro- or by alkyl chains. The adsorption monolayers (Gibbs monolayers) were studied by surface pressure (π) measurements as a function of time for different surfactant concentrations. For the spread monolayers (Langmuir monolayers), the measurements of the surface pressure (π) versus the molecular area (A) as well as the relaxation measurements of the area (A) as a function of time at constant surface pressure were performed. The comparison between the characteristic parameters of two types of monolayers was made in order to understand the effect of the preparation conditions on the structure of these monolayers. It was found that decreasing the fluoroalkyl chain length induced a systematical decrease in the stability of Langmuir monolayers, which is manifested as the Marangoni-Gibbs viscoelasticity of the monolayers. For the surfactants, which have a large number of oxyethylene groups, adsorption at the air/water interface from the bulk solution required extremely long times to reach equilibrium due to the diffusion from the solution and to the conformational rearrangements at the interface. The observation of a hysteresis in the compression/decompression curves for these compounds is explained by the presence of the residual organic solvent molecules absorbed by oxyethylenic chains. A novel model describing the kinetics of desorption or rearrangement of molecules during the lateral compression was suggested, allowing the estimation of both characteristic time of this process and areas per molecule at the equilibrium from the relaxation curves A(t).  相似文献

In the past, few theoretical attempts have been made to describe quantitatively the adsorption of ionic surfactants at liquid interfaces. Well-known adsorption isotherms due to Frumkin or Hill–de Boer cannot respond to the specific electrostatic and geometric properties of the surfactant molecules. Our approach is based on a combination of the Gouy–Chapman theory with a modified Frumkin isotherm. The modification implies that the system is free to choose an optimal head group area and an optimal arrangement of the surfactant molecules in the interface as a function of bulk concentration. Interaction energies between neighbouring adsorbed surfactant molecules and between surfactant and water molecules are taken into consideration. The minimum of the Gibbs free energy of the system is equivalent to a minimal interfacial tension. Thus, the thermodynamically stable isotherm can be obtained as the lower envelope of the family of σ versus ln c isotherms resulting from different choices of the model parameters, including the area per molecule. According to the Gibbs equation, the Γ versus ln c adsorption isotherm is obtained as the derivative of this envelope. By variation of the model parameters, the envelope of the calculated adsorption isotherms can be fitted to experimental data of the interfacial tension versus bulk concentration. A computer program is used to calculate the σ versus c and the Γ versus ln c curves as well as to fit the parameters. Received: 28 October 1999/Accepted: 8 February 2000  相似文献

Gemini-type hybrid surfactants with two fluorocarbon chains connected through a hydrocarbon spacer, F(CF2)m(CH2)2CH(OSO3Na)(CH2)nCH(OSO3Na)(CH2)2(CF2)mF [Fm(Hn)FmOS, m = 4, 6; n = 5, 6, 7, 8)], were synthesized and their surface chemical properties were examined with the aim to have highly functional and highly water-soluble fluorinated surfactants when compared with the conventional fluorinated surfactants. Comparisons of the surface chemical properties of the synthesized gemini-type hybrid surfactants with those of monounit-type hybrid surfactants, F(CF2)m(CH2)2CH(OSO3Na)(CH2)nH [FmEHnOS, m = 4, 6; n = 3, 5)], revealed that gemination causes a remarkable lowering (about 1/100) in cmc value while it produces little changes in Krafft point (below 0 °C) and surface tension at cmc (γcmc).  相似文献

Three anionic homologues of a novel partially fluorinated carboxylate-type anionic gemini surfactant, N,N′-di(3-perfluoroalkyl-2-hydroxypropyl)-N,N′-diacetic acid ethylenediamine (2 edda, where n represents the number of carbon atoms in the fluorocarbon chain (4, 6, and 8)) were synthesized. In these present gemini surfactants, the relatively small carboxylic acid moieties form hydrophilic head groups. The surface properties or structures of the aggregates of these surfactants are strongly influenced by the nonflexible fluorocarbons and small head groups; this is because these surfactants have a closely packed molecular structure. The equilibrium surface tension properties of these surfactants were measured at 298.2 K for various fluorocarbon chain lengths. The plot of the logarithm of the critical micelle concentration (cmc) against the fluorocarbon chain lengths for 2 edda (n = 4, 6, and 8) showed a minimum for n = 6. Furthermore, the lowest surface tension of 2 edda at the cmc was 16.4 mN m−1. Such unique behavior has not been observed even in the other fluorinated surfactants. Changes in the shapes and sizes of these surfactant aggregate with concentration were investigated by dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The TEM micrographs showed that in an aqueous alkali solution, 2 edda mainly formed aggregates with stringlike (n = 4), cagelike (n = 6), and distorted bilayer structures (n = 8). The morphological changes in the aggregates were affected by the molecular structure composed of nonflexible fluorocarbon chains and flexible hydrocarbon chains.  相似文献

Seven new dialkyldibenzene disulfonate gemini surfactants have been synthesised. The physico-chemical properties such as their surface tensions, krafft temperatures and melting temperatures have been measured. It was found that the anionic gemini surfactants showed some aberrant properties. The results determined by drop-volume method indicated that surfactants Id, Ie at 25 °C and IIb at 50 °C showed no cmc and lowered surface tension of water hardly despite their seemingly favorable amphiphilic components. However, the three surfactants showed a sharp cmc and good surface activity with the increment of temperature. Surfactant Ie with two longer chains had a higher cmc than that for shorter chain surfactant Id. Furthermore, for this class of anionic gemini surfactants, the spacer carbon number had more important effects than the alkyl chain carbon number on their krafft temperatures and melting temperatures.  相似文献

Nine novel sulfate-type hybrid surfactants, CmF2m+1C6H4CH(OSO3Na)CnH2n+1 (FmPHnOS: m=4, 6, 8; n=3, 5, 7; C6H4: p-phenylene), with a benzene ring in their molecules were synthesized. Alkanoyl chlorides were allowed to react with iodobenzene in the presence of aluminum chloride to give the corresponding aromatic ketones. The reaction of the ketones with perfluoroalkyl iodides yielded 1-[4-(perfluoroalkyl)phenyl]-1-alkanones as intermediates. The intermediates were allowed to react with methanol in tetrahydrofuran in the presence of sodium borohydride to yield 1-[4-(perfluoroalkyl)phenyl]-1-alkanols. The desired hybrid surfactants were obtained by the reaction of 1-[4-(perfluoroalkyl)phenyl-1-alkanols with sulfur trioxide/pyridine complex in pyridine and by the subsequent neutralization of the products with sodium hydroxide solution. When compared with the conventional hybrid surfactants, CmF2m+1C6H4COCH(SO3Na)CnH2n+1 (FmHnS: m=4, 6; n=2, 4, 6; C6H4: p-phenylene), the new hybrid surfactants thus synthesized were found to have a comparable ability to lower the surface tension of water and a high hydrophilicity. The cmc of FmPHnOS obeyed Kleven’s rule and their occupied areas per molecule increased with increasing m and n with the values between 0.66 and 1.05 nm2. The aggregation number for FmPHnOS micelles ranged from 6 to 45 and the hydrodynamic radius of the micelles was in the range of 1.4-3.1 nm.  相似文献

A variety of fluorinated surfactants soluble in organic solvent were prepared, including C8F17SO2NHCnH2n+1 (n = 2, 4, 6, 8, 10), C8F17SO2NHR (R = C6H11, C6H5), C8F17SO2N(CnH2n+1)2 (n = 1, 2, 3, 4) and C8F17SO2NH(CH2)nNHO2SC8F17 (n = 6, 10). Their surface activities in various organic solvents were determined by surface tension measurement. The results showed that these fluorinated surfactants can reduce the surface tension of both polar and non-polar organic solvents. In general, organic solvents with strong polarity or long alkyl chain are beneficial to increase the surface activity of these polar fluorinated surfactants. By comparing fluorinated surfactants with the same fluorocarbon segment and connecting group, C8F17SO2N(CnH2n+1)2 (n = 1, 2, 3, 4) showed lower surface activity in organic solvents than C8F17SO2NHCnH2n+1 (n = 2, 4, 6, 8) with an equal carbon number of the solvophilic group. Through surface tension vs. concentration curves given for N-octyl perfluorooctanesulfonamide in various organic solvents, a break point like the critical micelle concentration of ordinary surfactants in aqueous solutions was observed, and the effect of the different types of organic solvents on adsorption and aggregation behavior was also studied.  相似文献

A series of glucosyl esters surfactants were synthesized based on glucose molecule by enzymatic catalysis. It could reach the highest esterification yield of 83.4% at the optimal condition, molar ratio of D-glucose and fatty acyl amino acid as 3:2 using 11% (w/w) enzyme catalyst Lipozyme 435 as catalyst in t-butanol at 40°C. The surface activities were studied, such as the critical micelle concentration (CMC), surface tension (γcmc), maximum excess concentration (Γmax), minimum surface area/molecule (Amin), and the adsorption efficiency (pC20); values of these were obtained by surface tension test. The results show that the longer the hydrophobic chain length, the lower the CMC and γcmc. The CMCs of novel glucosyl esters were between 4.4 and 1.5 mM. Further, the micellization physiochemical parameters, including Gibbs free energy of micellization (ΔG), standard enthalpy change (ΔH), and standard entropy change (ΔS) were calculated. It was indicated the micellization of glucosyl esters 9–16 was driven by entropy and deduced at different temperature.  相似文献

O-Dodecyl-N,N′-diisopropylisourea and O-tridecafluorooctyl-N,N′-diisopropylisourea were synthesized by reaction of hydrogenated or fluorinated alcohols onto diisopropylcarbodiimide in quasi-quantitative yields. Adding various hydrogen halides (HCl, HBr, or HI) onto these isoureas enabled one to obtain isoureas hydrohalides with tensioactive properties. The surface properties of both series of hydrogenated and fluorinated surfactants were studied and compared. The influence of the counter-ions onto the surface properties showed that the tensioactive properties were improved in the following increasing order: I < Cl < Br. Fluorinated isourea hydrohalides exhibited better surfactant properties than their hydrogenated homologues.  相似文献

The interactions of two partially charged ampholytic terpolymers [consisting of acrylamide, sodium 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulphonate, and 2-(methacryloyloxyethyl)trimethylammonium chloride segments with molar compositions 80/12/08 and 80/08/12] and two fully charged ampholytic copolymers (containing only the two latter comonomers with molar compositions of 80/20 and 50/50), with cationic surfactants [tetradecyl- trimethylammonium bromide (TTAB) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)] and the anionic surfactant sodium dodecylsulphate (SDS), are investigated. The studies include phase behaviour (swelling, solubilisation, precipitation), viscometry, electrical conductivity, and potentiometry (bromide ion and surfactant ion-specific electrodes). The 80/08/12 and 80/12/08 polyampholytes swell in water and are solubilised in the presence of cationic or anionic surfactants above a particular surfactant concentration that is proportional to the polymer concentration. The polyampolyte 80/20 is soluble in water but precipitates in the presence of TTAB, whereas 50/50 is insoluble in water and in the presence of TTAB, but is solubilised upon addition of SDS. The results indicate that TTAB binds to 80/12/08 with little or no cooperativity. Solubilisation appears to be the result of the increasing polyelectrolyte character of the polyampholyte upon neutralisation of its charged sites by bound surfactant ions of opposite charge. The binding of TTAB by the 50/50 polyampholyte is very weak and non-cooperative. In contrast, 80/20 binds TTAB cooperatively, much like a true polyelectrolyte-surfactant system of opposing charges. In particular, the binding is characterised by the existence of a critical aggregation concentration. A partial phase diagram for this system has been determined from the TTA+-electrode potential data. The behaviour of true polyelectrolytes and polyampholytes, with respect to their interaction with surfactants, is discussed. Received: 22 July 1998 Accepted: 14 September 1998  相似文献

Spacer effects in dimeric cationic surfactants   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
A series of dimeric cationic surfactants (gemini surfactants), which have spacer groups of varying length and flexibility, was synthesized. The series is derived from the parent compounds dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride or benzyldodecyldimethylammonium chloride. Characteristic surfactant properties of the dimeric ammonium compounds such as surface activity, micellization, viscosity effects, foaming, and solubilization, were studied with respect to the influence of the spacer group on the surfactant. For all properties, the influence of the length of the spacer group was predominant though the chemical nature of the spacer cannot be neglected.  相似文献

Redox-active polyelectrolyte-surfactant complexes(PSC) were prepared via the ionic self-assembly of sodium poly(styrenesulfonate) (PSS) and ferrocenyl surfactant,(11-ferrocenylundecyl)trimethylammonium bromide(FTMA) in aqueous solution. The PSS-FTMA complex exhibited an ordered interdigitated monolayer mesomorphous structure with the long period of d = 3.13 nm,and was in the ionic thermotropic liquid crystal SmA state at room temperature.Interestingly,in the solid complex, the ferrocenyl moieties formed H-aggregation showing an increase in theπ-π~* energy transfer of cyclopentadienes in the ferrocene moieties as known from the blue-shift in the UV spectrum. The complexes showed higher thermal stability compared with their components due to the ionic interaction. The PSS-FTMA film had a good redox reversibility, which promised to be used in electrochemical sensors.  相似文献

A novel fluorinated surfactant, sodium 1?H, 1?H, 7H-dodecafluoro-1-heptyloxy acetate (DFHAS), was synthesized via a facile two-step synthetic procedure. The structure of product on each step was characterized by 1?H NMR, 19?F NMR, 13C NMR, FT-IR, and mass spectrum (MS). Ultraviolet absorption (UV) and ring measurements were performed to obtain detailed information of its surface properties. The results demonstrated that the novel surfactant possessed very low critical micelle concentration (CMC, 7.94?mM) and surface tension (20.01?mN/m). Furthermore, the surfactant had preferable thermal stability compared with other perfluorocarboxylates characterized by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The practical application performance of DFHAS was finally validated through the emulsion polymerization of vinylidene fluoride (VDF) by means of its excellent emulsifying activities. It is expected that this versatile synthetic strategy may help fabricate satisfying green surfactant systems for the application in fields of emulsion polymerization, drug delivery and greases.GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT  相似文献

A novel series of polymeric surfactants based on carboxy methyl cellulose and alkyl poly(etheroxy) acrylate were synthesized by ultrasonic irradiation. These polymeric surfactants have exhibit excellent surface activity due to their unique structure. The influences of salt, alcohol and alkali on the interfacial activity of these polymeric surfactants were studied by interfacial tensiometery, dynamic laser scattering (DLS), UV spectroscope and environmental scanning electrical microscope (ESEM). The surface tension and interfacial tension (IFT) properties change little with NaCl added. The formed micelles shrink, their size becomes smaller. Alcohols cause the IFT to decrease a little because a small amount of free chains present in solution. Under the influence of added alkali, the IFT of the polymeric surfactants, in aqueous solution, decreases so much that sometimes it is less than 10−2 mN/m. Using data from the equivalent alkane scan, one cannot draw the conclusion that the action of alkali with the acidic components in crude oil leads to the ultra-low IFT. The analyses by UV, DLS and ESEM show that the micelles formed by polymeric surfactants could be disaggregated or destroyed sharply by the action of alkali. So the size of micelles decreases greatly and the number of free chains increases. That more polymeric surfactants molecules move to the interface of oil/water and rearrange at the interface of oil/water is believed to be the main reason of the ultra-low IFT (10−3 mN/m) that is obtained.  相似文献

This review covers the effects of hydrophobic counterions on the phase behavior of ionic surfactants and the properties of the phases. Mixing hydrophobic counterions with ionic surfactant micellar solutions may initiate the micellar growth and transform the micellar microstructure into different morphologies. This behavior may also be achieved by mixing ionic surfactants with hydrophilic counterions, although higher counterionic concentrations are then required. First, the role of hydrophilic and hydrophobic counterions in regards to micelle growth is discussed. Second, the effect of the hydrophobic counterion on the self-assembly of cationic and anionic surfactants and their viscoelastic behavior are presented. Third, the relationships between geometry, hydrophobicity and their consequences on micellar growth for different hydrophobic counterions are reviewed. Forth, the influence of hydrophobic counterion substituents (substitution pattern) on the phase behavior is discussed. Some results we previously obtained for different isomers of hydroxy naphthaoic acids and the cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium hydroxide are included. With these systems the effect that the hydrophobic counterion microenvironment has on the phase behavior, rheological behavior and the micellar microstructure is discussed. The results from other research groups are also discussed.  相似文献

Fluoroalkyl end-capped oligomers reacted with tetraethoxysilane and silica/nanoparticles under alkaline conditions to afford fluoroalkyl end-capped oligomers/silica nanoparticles (mean diameters: 31–54 nm) with a good dispersibility and stability in organic media. Interestingly, the isolated fluorinated particle powders were found to afford nanometer size-controlled colloidal particles with a good redispersibility and stability in these media. In addition, fluoroalkyl end-capped oligomers/silica nanoparticles-encapsulated guest molecules such as stable organic radicals and ionic liquids were prepared under similar conditions. These fluorinated nanoparticles-encapsulated guest molecules were applied to a new type of surface-modification agent, and these particles were able to disperse well above the poly (methyl methacrylate) films.  相似文献

This minireview describes the strategies for synthesis of fiuorinated surfactants potentially nonbioaccumulable.Various strategies have been focused on(Ⅰ) reducing the length of the perfluorocarbon chain,(Ⅱ) introducing hetero atoms into the fluorocarbon chain,(Ⅲ) introducing branch(herein and after branch means the fluoro-carbon chain section is not straight). In most cases, the surface tensions versus the surfactant concentrations have been assessed. These above strategies led to various highly fiuorinated(perfluorinated or not perfluorinated) surfactants whose chemical changes enabled to obtain novel alternatives to perfluorooctanoic acid(PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulphonate(PFOS).  相似文献
