The combination of early rare earth metals (La- to Gd and Yb), gold, and silicon in molten aluminum results in the formation of intermetallic compounds with four related structures, forming a new homologous series: RE[AuAl2]nAl2(AuxSi(1-x))2, with x approximately 0.5 for most of the compound and n = 0, 1, 2, and 3. Because of the highly reducing nature of the Al flux, rare earth oxides instead of metals can also be used in these reactions. These compounds grow as large plate-like crystals and have tetragonal structure types that can be viewed as intergrowths of the BaAl4 structure and antifluorite-type AuAl2 layers. REAuAl2Si materials form with the BaAl4 structure type in space group I4/mmm (cell parameters for the La analogue are a = 4.322(2) A, c = 10.750(4) A, and Z = 2). REAu2Al4Si forms in a new ordered superstructure of the KCu4S3 structure type, with space group P4/nmm and cell parameters of the La analogue of a = 6.0973(6) A, c = 8.206(1) A, and Z = 2. REAu3Al6Si forms in a new I4/mmm symmetry structure type with cell parameters of a = 4.2733(7) A, c = 22.582(5) A, and Z = 2 for RE = Eu. The end member of the series, REAu4Al8Si, forms in space group P4/mmm with cell parameters for the Yb analogue of a = 4.2294(4) A, c = 14.422(2) A, and Z = 1. New intergrowth structures containing two different kinds of AuAl2 layers were also observed. The magnetic behavior of all these compounds is derived from the RE ions. Comparison of the susceptibility data for the europium compounds indicates a switch from 3-D magnetic interactions to 2-D interactions as the size of the AuAl2 layer increases. The Yb ions in YbAu(2.91)Al(6)Si(1.09) and YbAu(3.86)Al(8)Si(1.14) are divalent at high temperatures.  相似文献

Gd(1.33)Pt(3)Al(8) was synthesized by the combination of Gd and Pt in excess liquid aluminum. Addition of silicon resulted in the incorporation of a small amount of this element into the material to form the isostructural Gd(1.33)Pt(3)Al(7)Si. Both compounds grow as rodlike crystals with hexagonal cross section. The structures were refined in the rhombohedral space group R(-)3m, with cell parameters a = 4.3359(6) A and c = 38.702(8) A for the ternary and a = 4.3280(8) A and c = 38.62(1) A for the quaternary compound. The structure is comprised of stuffed arsenic-like PtAl(2) layers and disordered Gd/Al layers. Analysis of the hk0 zone reflections indicate the presence of an a = radical 3a supercell, but the structure is not ordered along c, as revealed by the highly diffuse reflections in the 0kl zone photos. Therefore, the compounds are disordered variants of the Gd(4)Pt(9)Al(24) type. Magnetic susceptibility studies reveal antiferromagnetic transitions at 15 K for the ternary and 7 K for the quaternary compound. Variation of the reactant ratio produces a different structure comprised of the same structural blocks, including the disordered Gd/Al layer. Gd(0.67)Pt(2)Al(5) and its quaternary analogue Gd(0.67)Pt(2)Al(4)Si form in the hexagonal system P6(3)/mmc with cell parameters a = 4.2907(3) A and c = 16.388(2) A for the ternary and a = 4.2485(6) A and c = 16.156(3) A for the quaternary compound.  相似文献

High-pressure/high-temperature conditions of 10 GPa and 1150 degrees C were used to synthesize the new rare-earth oxoborates alpha-(RE)(2)B(4)O(9) (RE=Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy) in a Walker-type multianvil apparatus. Single-crystal X-ray structure determination of alpha-(RE)(2)B(4)O(9) (RE=Eu, Gd, Tb) revealed: C2/c, Z=20, alpha-Eu(2)B(4)O(9): a=2547.9(5), b=444.3(1), c=2493.8(5) pm, beta=99.82(3) degrees, R1=0.0277, wR2=0.0693 (all data); alpha-Gd(2)B(4)O(9): a=2539.0(1), b=443.3(1), c=2490.8(1) pm, beta=99.88(1) degrees, R1=0.0457, wR2=0.0643 (all data); alpha-Tb(2)B(4)O(9): a=2529.4(1), b=441.6(1), c=2484.3(1) pm, beta=99.88(1) degrees, R1=0.0474, wR2=0.0543 (all data). The isotypic compounds exhibit a new type of structure that is built up of BO(4) tetrahedra to form a network that incorporates the rare-earth cations. The most important feature is the existence of the new structural motif of edge-sharing BO(4) tetrahedra next to the known motif of corner-sharing BO(4) tetrahedra, which is realized in the presented compounds alpha-(RE)(2)B(4)O(9) (RE=Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy) for the second time. Furthermore, we report the temperature-resolved in-situ powder-diffraction measurements, DTA, IR/Raman spectroscopic investigations, and magnetic properties of the new compounds.  相似文献

Anhydrous lanthanide(III) chlorides (Ln = Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb) react with 3 equiv of lithium 2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-2,5-disila-1-azacyclopentanide, Li[N[Si(CH3)2CH2Ch2Si(CH3)2]], in THF or Et(2)O to afford the monomeric four-coordinate heteroleptic ate complexes Ln[N[Si(CH3)2CH2CH2Si(CH3)2]]3(mu-Cl)Li(THF/Et2O)3 (Ln = Sm (1), Eu (2), Gd (3), Tb (4), Dy (5), Ho (6), Er (7), Tm (8), Yb (9)), whose solid-state structures were determined by the single-crystal X-ray diffraction technique. All complexes additionally were characterized by melting point determination, elemental analyses, and mass spectrometry.  相似文献

The quaternary compounds RE4Ni2InGe4 (RE = Dy, Ho, Er, and Tm) were obtained as large single crystals in high yields from reactions run in liquid In. The title compounds crystallize in the monoclinic C2/m space group with the Mg(5)Si(6) structure type with lattice parameters a = 15.420(2) A, b = 4.2224(7) A, c = 7.0191(11) A, and beta = 108.589(2) degrees for Dy4Ni2InGe4, a = 15.373(4) A, b = 4.2101(9) A, c = 6.9935(15) A, and beta = 108.600(3) degrees for Ho4Ni2InGe4, a = 15.334(7) A, b = 4.1937(19) A, c = 6.975(3) A, and beta =108.472(7) degrees for Er4Ni2InGe4, and a = 15.253(2) A, b = 4.1747(6) A, c = 6.9460(9) A, and beta = 108.535(2) degrees for Tm4Ni2InGe4. RE4Ni2InGe4 formed in liquid In from a melt that was rich in the rare-earth component. These compounds are polar intermetallic phases with a cationic rare-earth substructure embedded in a transition metal and main group matrix. The rare-earth atoms form a highly condensed network, leading to interatomic distances that are similar to those found in the elemental lanthanides themselves. The Dy and Ho analogues display two maxima in the susceptibility, suggesting antiferromagnetic ordering behavior and an accompanying spin reorientation. The Er analogue shows only one maximum in the susceptibility, and no magnetic ordering was observed for the Tm compound down to 2 K.  相似文献

The rare-earth intermetallic compounds (RE)12Co5Bi (RE = Y, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm) were prepared by arc-melting and annealing at 600 degrees C. These compounds extend the previously known (RE)6M2+xX1-x (M = Co, Ni; X = Ga, In, Sn, Pb) series with the Ho6Co2Ga-type structure to X = Bi. The crystal structure of Ho12Co5Bi was refined by the Rietveld method from powder X-ray diffraction data obtained using synchrotron radiation (Pearson symbol oI36, orthorhombic, space group Immm, Z = 2, a = 9.37598(14) A, b = 9.37871(14) A, c = 9.85465(13) A). Unlike other Ho6Co2Ga-type compounds, the 2a site in Ho12Co5Bi is exclusively occupied by Co atoms. Four-probe electrical resistivity measurements on sintered polycrystalline samples of (RE)12Co5Bi indicated metallic behavior. Magnetic measurements revealed behavior ranging from frequency-dependent maxima in the ac susceptibility for Y12Co5Bi to possible ferrimagnetic ordering for Gd12Co5Bi to antiferromagnetic ordering with metamagnetic transitions for the remaining compounds. As confirmed by band structure calculations using Y12Co5Bi as a model compound, Y-Y and Y-Co interactions are the most important bonding components, but matrix effects are likely responsible for anomalously short Co-Co contacts in the structure.  相似文献

A cyclic cylindrical 3d-4f tetranuclear structure, in which the 3d and 4f magnetic ions are arrayed alternately, has been found to be a suitable molecular design to produce a large magnetic moment and large magnetic anisotropy. Complexes 3-10 with the chemical formula [MLLn(hfac)2]2 ((MII, LnIII) = (Cu, Eu) (3), (Cu, Gd) (4), (Cu, Tb) (5), (Cu, Dy) (6), (Ni, Eu) (7), (Ni, Gd) (8), (Ni, Tb) (9), (Ni, Dy) (10)) have been synthesized, where H3L = 1-(2-hydroxybenzamido)-2-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylideneamino)ethane and Hhfac = hexafluoroacetylacetone. The powder X-ray diffractions and FAB-mass spectra demonstrated that these complexes assume a similar tetranuclear structure. The crystal structures of 4 and 5 showed that each complex has a cyclic cylindrical tetranuclear CuII2LnIII2 structure, in which the CuII complex functions as a "bridging ligand-complex" to two adjacent LnIII ions. The temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibilities from 2 to 300 K and the field-dependent magnetizations at 2 K from 0 to 5 T have been measured for four pairs of CuII2LnIII2 and NiII2LnIII2, in which compound NiII2LnIII2 containing diamagnetic NiII ion was used as the reference complex to evaluate the CuII-LnIII magnetic interaction. Comparison of the magnetic properties of the CuII2LnIII2 complex with those of the corresponding NiII2LnIII2 complex showed that the magnetic interaction between CuII and EuIII ions is weakly ferromagnetic and that between CuII and either of GdIII, TbIII, and DyIII ions is ferromagnetic. Complex CuII2GdIII2, 4, has an S = 8 spin ground state, due to the ferromagnetic spin coupling between SGd = 7/2 and SCu = 1/2 with coupling constants of J1 = +3.1 cm-1 and J2 = +1.2 cm-1. The magnetic measurements showed that compounds 5 and 6, CuII2LnIII2 (LnIII = Tb, Dy), exhibit large magnetic moments and large magnetic anisotropy due to the LnIII ion.  相似文献

The reaction of Cu(OAc)2 and Ln(OAc)3 (Ln = Gd, Tb and Dy) with 2-amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol (ampdH2) under solvothermal conditions has afforded a new family of isostructural octanuclear Cu4Ln4 complexes with the formula [Cu4Ln4(OAc)12(ampdH)8(OH2)2] (Ln = Gd (1), Tb (2) and Dy(3)) in good yield. Variable temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal weak intramolecular exchange interactions for 1 and 2. Ferromagnetic coupling is observed for 1 and attributed to Cu...Gd interactions. In contrast, the magnetic susceptibility behaviour of 2 arises from a combination of intramolecular exchange interactions and the crystal field splitting of the (7)F6 ground state of the Tb(III) ions.  相似文献

A series of binary quasicrystal approximants RE13Zn58+delta (RE = Ho, Er, Tm, and Lu) have been prepared, and structural studies were performed by means of single-crystal X-ray diffraction. All four compounds crystallize in the orthorhombic system, but while the Ho-containing compound crystallizes in space group Pcmn, the rest of the compounds crystallize in Pc21n. This work is a continuation of the structural studies on RE13Zn approximately 58 (RE = Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, and Dy), which all belong to the hexagonal system. The sequence of RE13Zn58+delta compounds exhibits a large variability in local ordering and composition, and therefore the crystal structures are generally rather more complex than those previously reported and exhibit a number of different ordering modes. These four compounds are structurally closely related to each other.  相似文献

The ternary polar intermetallic compounds EuGaTt (Tt = Si, Ge, Sn) have been synthesized and characterized experimentally, as well as theoretically. EuGaSi crystallizes in the hexagonal AlB(2)-type structure (space group P6/mmm, Z = 1, Pearson symbol hP3) with randomly distributed Ga and Si atoms on the graphite-type planes: a = 4.1687(6) A, c = 4.5543(9) A. On the other hand, EuGaGe and EuGaSn adopt the hexagonal YPtAs-type structure (space group P6(3)/mmc, Z = 4, Pearson symbol hP12): a = 4.2646(6) A and c = 18.041(5) A for EuGaGe; a = 4.5243(5) A and c = 18.067(3) A for EuGaSn. The three crystal structures contain formally [GaTt](2-) polyanionic 3-bonded, hexagonal networks, which change from planar to puckered and exhibit a significant decrease in interlayer Ga-Ga distances as the size of Tt increases. Magnetic susceptibility measurements of this series of compounds show Curie-Weiss behavior above 86(5), 95(5), and 116(5) K with magnetic moments of 7.93, 7.97, and 7.99 mu(B) for EuGaSi, EuGaGe, and EuGaSn, respectively, indicating a 4f(7) electronic configuration (Eu(2+)) for Eu atoms. X-ray absorption spectra (XAS) are also consistent with these magnetic properties. Electronic structure calculations supplemented by a crystal orbital Hamilton population (COHP) analysis identifies the synergy between atomic sizes, from both Eu and Tt atoms, and the orbital contributions from Eu toward influencing the structural features of EuGaTt. A multicentered interaction between planes of Eu atoms and the [GaTt](2-) layers rather than through-space Ga-Ga bonding is seen in ELF distributions.  相似文献

Two new quaternary aluminum silicides, RE8Ru12Al49Si9(Al(x)Si12-x) (x approximately 4; RE = Pr, Sm), have been synthesized from Sm (or Sm2O3), Pr, Ru, and Si in molten aluminum between 800 and 1000 degrees C in sealed fused silica tubes. Both compounds form black shiny crystals that are stable in air and NaOH. The Nd analog is also stable. The compounds crystallize in a new structural type. The structure, determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, is cubic, space group Pm3m with Z = 1, and has lattice parameters of a = 11.510(1) A for Sm8Ru12Al49Si9(Al(x)Si12-x) and a = 11.553(2) A for Pr8Ru12Al49Si9(Al(x)Si12-x) (x approximately 4). The structure consists of octahedral units of AlSi6, at the cell center, Si2Ru4Al8 clusters, at each face center, SiAl8 cubes, at the middle of the cell edges, and unique (Al,Si)12 cuboctohedral clusters, at the cell corners. These different structural units are connected to each other either by shared atoms, Al-Al bonds, or Al-Ru bonds. The rare earth metal atoms fill the space between various structural units. The Al/Si distribution was verified by single-crystal neutron diffraction studies conducted on Pr8Ru12Al49Si9(Al(x)Si12-x). Sm8Ru12Al49Si9(Al(x)Si12-x) and Pr8Ru12Al49Si9(Al(x)Si12-x) show ferromagnetic ordering at Tc approximately 10 and approximately 20 K, respectively. A charge of 3+ can be assigned to the rare earth atoms while the Ru atoms are diamagnetic.  相似文献

The rare-earth tricyanomelaminates, [NH(4)]Ln[HC(6)N(9)](2)[H(2)O](7)xH(2)O (LnTCM; Ln=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy), have been synthesized through ion-exchange reactions. They have been characterized by powder as well as single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, vibrational spectroscopy, and solid-state (1)H, (13)C, and (15)N MAS NMR spectroscopy. The X-ray powder pattern common to all nine rare-earth tricyanomelaminates LnTCM (Ln=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy) indicates that they are isostructural. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction pattern of LnTCM is indicative of non-merohedral twinning. The crystals are triclinic and separation of the twin domains as well as refinement of the structure were successfully carried out in the space group P1 for LaTCM (LaTCM; P1, Z=2, a=7.1014(14), b=13.194(3), c=13.803(3) A, alpha=90.11(3), beta=77.85(3), gamma=87.23(3) degrees , V=1262.8(4) A(3)). In the crystal structure, each Ln(3+) is surrounded by two nitrogen atoms from two crystallographically independent tricyanomelaminate moieties and seven oxygen atoms from crystal water molecules. The positions of all of the hydrogen atoms of the ammonium ions and water molecules could not be located from difference Fourier syntheses. The presence of [NH(4)](+) ions as well as two NH groups belonging to two crystallographically independent monoprotonated tricyanomelaminate moieties has only been confirmed by subjecting LaTCM to solid-state (1)H, (13)C, and (15)N{(1)H} cross-polarization (CP) MAS NMR and advanced CP experiments such as cross-polarization combined with polarization inversion (CPPI). The (1)H 2D double-quantum single-quantum homonuclear correlation (DQ SQ) spectrum and the (15)N{(1)H} 2D CP heteronuclear-correlation (HETCOR) spectrum have revealed the hydrogen-bonded (N--HN) dimer of monoprotonated tricyanomelaminate moieties as well as H-bonding through [NH(4)](+) ions and H(2)O molecules. The structures of the other eight rare-earth tricyanomelaminates (LnTCM; Ln=Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy) have been refined from X-ray powder diffraction data by the Rietveld method. Photoluminescence studies of [NH(4)]Eu[HC(6)N(9)](2)[H(2)O](7)xH(2)O have revealed orange-red (lambda(max)=615 nm) emission due to the (5)D(0)-(7)F(2) transition, whereas [NH(4)]Tb[HC(6)N(9)](2)[H(2)O](7)xH(2)O has been found to show green emission with a maximum at 545 nm arising from the (5)D(4)-(7)F(5) transition. DTA/TG studies of [NH(4)]Ln[HC(6)N(9)](2)[H(2)O](7)xH(2)O have indicated several phase transitions associated with dehydration of the compounds above 150 degrees C and decomposition above 200 degrees C.  相似文献

Eleven new oxides, derived from yttrium barium copper oxide by replacing the square-planar copper [Cu-O4] of the basal plane of the triple perovskite-based structure with octahedral Cr(IV), have been prepared at high pressure and temperature. Their crystal structures have been determined, and their complex microstructure has been established by means of high-resolution electron microscopy and electron diffraction. The materials have a general formula of CrSr2RECu2O8 (RE = La, Pr, Nd, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Y, Ho, Er, and Lu); they are tetragonal, show the symmetry of space group P4/mmm, and do not appear to be superconducting.  相似文献

The twelve quaternary rare-earth selenides Ba(2)MLnSe5 (M = Ga, In; Ln = Y, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy, Er) have been synthesized for the first time. The compounds Ba(2)GaLnSe(5) (Ln = Y, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy, Er) are isostructural and crystallize in a new structure type in the centrosymmetric space group P ?1 of the triclinic system while the isostructural compounds Ba(2)InLnSe(5) (Ln = Y, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy, Er) belong to the Ba(2)BiInS(5) structure type and crystallize in the noncentrosymmetric space group Cmc2(1) of the orthorhombic system. The structures contain infinite one-dimensional anionic chains (1)(∞)[GaLnSe(5)](4-) and (1)(∞)[InLnSe(5)](4-), and both chains are built from LnSe(6) octahedra and MSe(4) (M = Ga, In) tetrahedra in the corresponding selenides. As deduced from the diffuse reflectance spectra, the band gaps of most Ba(2)MLnSe(5) (M = Ga, In; Ln = Y, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy, Er) compounds are around 2.2 eV. The magnetic susceptibility measurements on Ba(2)GaGdSe(5) and Ba(2)InLnSe(5) (Ln = Nd, Gd, Dy, Er) indicate that they are paramagnetic and obey the Curie-Weiss law, while the magnetic susceptibility of Ba(2)InSmSe(5) deviates from the Curie-Weiss law as a result of the crystal field splitting. Furthermore, Ba(2)InYSe(5) exhibits a strong second harmonic generation response close to that of AgGaSe(2), when probed with the 2090 nm laser as fundamental wavelength.  相似文献

Three novel ring-like compounds formulated as [Ln(Phtfac)(3)(NITpPy)](2) (Ln(III) = Gd 1, Tb 2, Dy 3; HPhtfac = 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-phenylbutane-1,3-dione; NITpPy = 2-(4-pyridyl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazolyl-1-oxyl-3-oxide) were synthesized and structurally and magnetically characterized. Three compounds possess cyclic dimer structure in which each pyridine substituted radical links two different metal ions through the oxygen of nitroxide group and the pyridine nitrogen. DC magnetic studies show the Ln(III) ion interacts ferromagnetically with the directly bonding nitronyl nitroxide. Both Tb(III) and Dy(III) clusters show frequency-dependent ac magnetic susceptibilities, indicating single-molecule magnet behavior. It is demonstrated that the β-diketonate coligand may play an important role in determining the magnetic relaxation for the lanthanide-radical system.  相似文献

The new compounds Ln3TSe6 (Ln = Sm, Gd; T = In, Cr) and Tb3CrSe6 have been synthesized by the solid-state reactions of the elements at 850 degrees C. A KBr flux was used to promote crystal growth. These isostructural compounds crystallize with the U3ScS6 structure type. The crystal structure is built from LnSe7 pseudo-octahedra or LnSe8 bicapped trigonal prisms and TSe6 octahedra. Magnetic measurements show that Sm3TSe6 (T = In, Cr) and Tb3CrSe6 are paramagnetic down to 5 K whereas Gd3CrSe6 undergoes an antiferromagnetic transition at 10 K. Crystal data: orthorhombic, Pnnm, Z = 4, T = -120 degrees C, (compound, a (A), b (A), c (A))-Sm3InSe6, 14.177(3), 17.352(4), 4.0625(8); Gd3InSe6, 14.071(3), 17.286(4), 4.0202(8); Sm3CrSe6, 14.032(3), 16.782(3), 3.9841(8); Gd3CrSe6, 13.938(3), 16.780(3), 3.9559(8); Tb3CrSe6, 13.885(3), 16.672(3), 3.9215(8).  相似文献

A series of isostructural open-framework coordination polymers formulated as [Ln(dmf)(3)(ptmtc)] (Ln = Sm (1), Eu (2), Gd (3), Tb (4), Dy (5); PTMTC = polychlorotriphenylmethyl tricarboxylate) and [Ln(dmf)(2)H(2)O(αH-ptmtc)] (Ln = Sm (1'), Eu (2'), Gd (3'), Tb (4'), Dy (5')) have been obtained by treating Ln(III) ions with PTMTC ligands with a radical (PTMTC(3-)) or a closed-shell character (αH-PTMTC(3-)). X-ray diffraction analyses reveal that these coordination polymers possess 3D architectures that combine large channels and fairly rare lattice complex T connectivity. In addition, these compounds show selective framework dynamic sorption properties. For both classes of ligands, the ability to act as an antenna in Ln sensitization processes has been investigated. No luminescence was observed for compounds 1-5, and 3' because of the PTMTC(3-) ligand and/or Gd(III) ion characteristics. Conversely, photoluminescence measurements show that 1', 2', 4', and 5' emit dark orange, red, green, and dark cyan metal-centered luminescence. The magnetic properties of all of these compounds have been investigated. The nature of the {Ln-radical} exchange interaction in these compounds has been assessed by comparing the behavior of the radical-based coordination polymers 1-5 with those of the compounds with the diamagnetic ligand set. While antiferromagnetic {Sm-radical} interactions are found in 1, ferromagnetic {Ln-radical} interactions propagate in the 3D architectures of 3, 4, and 5 (Ln = Gd, Tb, and Dy, respectively). This procedure also provided access to information on the {Ln-Ln} exchange existing in these magnetic systems.  相似文献

A crystallographic study and theoretical assessment of the Gd/Y site preferences in the Gd 5- x Y x Tt 4 ( Tt = Si, Ge) series prepared by high-temperature methods is presented. All structures for the Gd 5- x Y x Si 4 system belong to the orthorhombic, Gd 5Si 4-type (space group Pnma). For the Gd 5- x Y x Ge 4 system, phases with x < 3.6 and x >or= 4.4 adopt the orthorhombic, Sm 5Ge 4-type structure. For the composition range of 3.6 相似文献

Reactions of lanthanide(III) perchlorate (Ln = Dy, Tb, and Gd), nickel(II) acetate, and ditopic ligand 2-(benzothiazol-2-ylhydrazonomethyl)-6-methoxyphenol (H(2)L) in a mixture of methanol and acetone in the presence of NaOH resulted in the successful assembly of novel Ln(2)Ni(2) heterometallic clusters representing a new heterometallic 3d-4f motif. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals that all compounds are isostructural, with the central core composed of distorted [Ln(2)Ni(2)O(4)] cubanes of the general formula [Ln(2)Ni(2)(μ(3)-OH)(2)(OH)(OAc)(4)(HL)(2)(MeOH)(3)](ClO(4))·3MeOH [Ln = Dy (1), Tb (2), and Gd (3)]. The magnetic properties of all compounds have been investigated. Magnetic analysis on compound 3 indicates ferromagnetic Gd···Ni exchange interactions competing with antiferromagnetic Ni···Ni interactions. Compound 1 displays slow relaxation of magnetization, which is largely attributed to the presence of the anisotropic Dy(III) ions, and thus represents a new discrete [Dy(2)Ni(2)] heterometallic cubane exhibiting probable single-molecule magnetic behavior.  相似文献
