We study two aspects of the loop group formulation for isometric immersions with flat normal bundle of space forms. The first aspect is to examine the loop group maps along different ranges of the loop parameter. This leads to various equivalences between global isometric immersion problems among different space forms and pseudo-Riemannian space forms. As a corollary, we obtain a non-immersibility theorem for spheres into certain pseudo-Riemannian spheres and hyperbolic spaces. The second aspect pursued is to clarify the relationship between the loop group formulation of isometric immersions of space forms and that of pluriharmonic maps into symmetric spaces. We show that the objects in the first class are, in the real analytic case, extended pluriharmonic maps into certain symmetric spaces which satisfy an extra reality condition along a totally real submanifold. We show how to construct such pluriharmonic maps for general symmetric spaces from curved flats, using a generalised DPW method.   相似文献

Since the induced objects on a lightlike submanifold depend on its screen distribution which, in general, is not unique and hence we can not use the classical submanifold theory on a lightlike submanifold in the usual way. Therefore, in present paper, we study screen conformal lightlike submanifolds of a semi-Riemannian manifold, which are essential for the existence of unique screen distribution. We obtain a characterization theorem for the existence of screen conformal lightlike submanifolds of a semi-Riemannian manifold. We prove that if the differential operator Ds is a metric Otsuki connection on transversal lightlike bundle for a screen conformal lightlike submanifold then semi-Riemannian manifold is a semi-Euclidean space. We also obtain some characterization theorems for a screen conformal totally umbilical lightlike submanifold of a semi-Riemannian space form. Further, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for a screen conformal lightlike submanifold of constant curvature to be a semi-Euclidean space. Finally, we prove that for an irrotational screen conformal lightlike submanifold of a semi-Riemannian space form, the induced Ricci tensor is symmetric and the null sectional curvature vanishes.  相似文献

In this article we study isometric immersions from Kähler manifolds whose (1, 1) part of the second fundamental form is parallel, theppmc isometric immersions. When the domain is a Riemann surface these immersions are precisely those with parallel mean curvature. P. J. Ryan has classified the Kähler manifolds that admit isometric immersions, as real hypersurfaces, in space forms. We classify the codimension twoppmc isometric immersions into space forms.  相似文献

We introduce a class of null hypersurfaces of a semi-Riemannian manifold, namely, screen quasi-conformal hypersurfaces, whose geometry may be studied through the geometry of its screen distribution. In particular, this notion allows us to extend some results of previous works to the case in which the sectional curvature of the ambient space is different from zero. As applications, we study umbilical, isoparametric and Einstein null hypersurfaces in Lorentzian space forms and provide several classification results.  相似文献

Roughly speaking, an ideal immersion of a Riemannian manifold into a space form is an isometric immersion which produces the least possible amount of tension from the ambient space at each point of the submanifold. In this article, we study isometric immersions of nearly Kähler manifolds into a space form (especially Euclidean space) and show that every nearly Kähler submanifold of a space form has an umbilic foliation whose leafs are 6-dimensional nearly Kähler manifolds. Moreover, using this foliation we show that there is no non-homogeneous 6-dimensional nearly Kähler submanifold of a space form. We prove some results towards a classification of nearly Kähler hypersurfaces in standard space forms.  相似文献

 We prove the fundamental theorems for affine immersions into hyperquadrics (including affine spaces) with arbitrary codimension, which are generalizations of those for isometric immersions into space forms. In this paper, we construct an analogue of concircular fields for semi-Riemannian spaces (i.e., for manifolds with degenerate metrics). We find a tensor criterion of spaces admitting the maximal number of concircular fields or having no such fields. We detect a gap in the distribution of dimensions of the space of concircular fields, which, in contrast to the corresponding gap in the case of pseudo-Riemannian manifolds, is lesser by 1. We also study some special types of concircular fields having no analogues for pseudo-Riemannian manifolds. A slant immersion is an isometric immersion from a Riemannian manifold into an almost Hermitian manifold with constant Wirtinger angle. In this paper we establish the existence and uniqueness theorem for slant immersions into complex-space-forms. By applying this result, we prove in this paper several existence and nonexistence theorems for slant immersions. In particular, we prove the existence theorems for slant surfaces with prescribed mean curvature or with prescribed Gaussian curvature. We also prove the non-existence theorem for flat minimal proper slant surfaces in non-flat complex space forms.  相似文献

We introduce lightlike hypersurfaces of a golden semi-Riemannian manifold. We investigate several properties of lightlike hypersurfaces of a golden semi-Riemannian manifold. We prove that there is no radical anti-invariant lightlike hypersurface of a golden semi-Riemannian manifold. In particular, we obtain some results for screen semi-invariant lightlike hypersurfaces of a golden semi-Riemannian manifold. In contrast to all known examples, we show that in the case of minimal isometric immersions of into the smallest target dimension is almost never achieved by an -equivariant immersion. We also give new criteria for linear rigidity of a fixed minimal isometric immersion of into . The minimal isometric immersions arising from irreducible SU(2)-representations are linearly rigid within the moduli space of SU(2)-equivariant immersions. Hence the question arose whether they are still linearly rigid within the full moduli space. We show that this is false by using our new criteria to construct an explicit SU(2)-equivariant immersion which is not linearly rigid. Various authors [GT], [To3], [W1] have shown that minimal isometric immersions of higher isotropy order play an important role in the study of the moduli space of all minimal isometric immersions of into . Using a new necessary and sufficient condition for immersions of isotropy order , we derive a general existence theorem of such immersions.
