We report an all-fiber laser oscillator producing as much as 1.9 W of single-frequency direct output at 1.5 microm. Spatial gain hole burning in the active fiber has been eliminated by use of a twisted-mode cavity approach. The two short pieces of a polarization-maintaining fiber that were spliced to the ends of the active fiber served as ultracompact quarter-wave plates. To our knowledge, the use of such a wave plate to manipulate the polarization state of light inside a fiber laser cavity is reported here for the first time. The laser output is linearly polarized and delivered through a polarization-maintaining fiber pigtail. We believe that the output power of our laser is the highest among all single-frequency fiber laser oscillators reported to date. 相似文献

Laser nitriding is used for the fast and easy production of nitride coatings on iron and alloys. Here, first results of the laser nitriding process applied to stainless steel are reported. The laser treatment led to the appearance of additional lines in the Mössbauer spectra, which are attributed to γ-Fe(N) produced by the laser nitriding process. The Mössbauer results are discussed in connection with the results obtained from X-ray diffraction and resonant nuclear reaction analysis. Furthermore, the results of isochronical annealing treatments of laser nitrided iron are reported. 相似文献

A simple method to generate a hollow laser beam by multimode fiber is reported. A dark hollow laser beam is generated from a multimode fiber and the dependence of the output beam profile on the incident angle of laser beam is analyzed. 开展了脉宽为40 fs的不同数量激光脉冲对锗材料的烧蚀效应实验,采用扫描电镜、激光共聚焦显微镜等方法对不同数量的飞秒激光脉冲作用下锗材料表面烧蚀区进行了检测,并对作用后材料烧蚀形貌演化规律进行了分析,初步分析了锗材料烧蚀区周围形成的不同环区的形貌特征及成因,对各环区烧蚀形貌特征随激光作用脉冲数的增加而产生的形貌演化过程进行了观测。并给出单脉冲飞秒激光对锗材料的烧蚀阈值为1.2 J·cm-2,采用激光共聚焦显微镜测得该阈值条件下单个飞秒激光脉冲对锗材料的烧蚀深度约为150 nm。 相似文献

A novel hybrid surface-emitting laser and two-dimensional laser array is reported. The device consists of rectangular GaAs reflectors and edge-emitting single laser or one-dimensional laser arrays which are fabricated separately. Using a tunable external cavity tapered diode laser (ECDL) pumped quasi-three-level Nd:YAG laser, a fivefold reduction in threshold and twofold increase in slope efficiency is demonstrated when compared to a traditional broad area diode laser pump source. A TEM00 power of 800 mW with 65% slope efficiency is obtained, the highest reported TEM00 power from any 946 nm Nd:YAG laser pumped by a single emitter diode laser pump source. A quantum efficiency of 0.85 has been estimated from experimental data using a simple quasi-three-level model. The reported value is in good agreement with published values, suggesting that the model is adequate. Improvement of the 946 nm laser due to the ECDL's narrow spectrum proves to be less significant when compared to its spatial quality, inferring a broad spectrum tapered diode laser pump source may be most practical. Experimental confirmation of such setup is given. 相似文献

A new terahertz (THz) source in air based on the bifilamentation of femtosecond laser pulses is reported. This THz radiation is 1 order of magnitude more intense than the transition-Cherenkov THz emission from femtosecond laser filaments reported recently and shows different angular and polarization properties. The use of a scanning Fabry-Perot interferometer of variable length (variable resolution) for investigating the output of a cw CO laser is reported. Under experimental conditions required to achieve maximum power it was found that the laser output consisted of two or more simultaneously occuring transitions due to the overlapping nature of the vibration- rotation bands. The frequency differences between these transitions were measured to an accuracy of 0.01 cm-1. Operation of the CO laser on a single vibration-rotation transition was obtained by controlling the laser gain with the experimental variables of discharge pressure, gas temperature, and optical alignment. An alternative approach of obtaining monochromatic radiation, by using a Fabry-Perot interferometer as a frequency selective filter external to the CO laser, is reported. 相似文献
