Motivated by recent developments in cosmology and string theory, we introduce a functional calculus appropriate for the study of non-linear nonlocal equations of the form f(Δ)u = U(x, u(x)) on Euclidean space. We prove that under some technical assumptions, these equations admit smooth solutions. We also consider nonlocal equations on compact Riemannian manifolds, and we prove the existence of smooth solutions. Moreover, in the Euclidean case we present conditions on f which guarantee that the solutions we find are, in fact, real-analytic. 相似文献

We prove sharp interpolatory estimates between directional Haar projections and Riesz Transforms. We apply those to prove a conjecture of L. Tartar that arose within the theory of compensated compactness. Adapting the method of Andrews-Clutterbuck we prove an eigenvalue gap theorem for a class of non symmetric second order linear elliptic operators on a convex domain in euclidean space. The class of operators includes the Bakry-Emery laplacian with potential and any operator with second order term the laplacian whose first order terms have coefficients with compact support in the open domain. The eigenvalue gap is bounded below by the gap of an associated Sturm-Liouville problem on a closed interval. 相似文献

We consider the inverse eigenvalue problems for stationary Dirac systems with differentiable selfadjoint matrix potential.The theorem of Ambarzumyan for a Sturm-Liouville problem is extended to Dirac operators,which are subject to separation boundary conditions or periodic(semi-periodic)boundary conditions,and some analogs of Ambarzumyan's theorem are obtained.The proof is based on the existence and extremal properties of the smallest eigenvalue of corresponding vectorial Sturm-Liouville operators,which are the second power of Dirac operators. 相似文献

Weak solutions to parabolic integro-differential operators of order α ∈ (α0, 2) are studied. Local a priori estimates of Hölder norms and a weak Harnack inequality are proved. An uncertainty principle for the Sturm--Liouville operator

is established, as generalization of an inequality for Jacobi expansions proved in our
previous paper, which implies the uncertainty principle for ultraspherical expansions
by M. Rösler and M. Voit. The properties of the orthogonal set of eigenfunctions
of the operator L and the so-called conjugate orthogonal set are unified by introducing
the differential–difference operators, which are essential in our study. As
consequences, an uncertainty principle for Laguerre, Hermite, and generalized

We prove several Liouville theorems for F-harmonic maps from some complete Riemannian manifolds by assuming some conditions on the Hessian of the distance function, the degrees of F(t) and the asymptotic behavior of the maps at infinity. In particular, the results can be applied to F-harmonic maps from some pinched manifolds, and can deduce a Bernstein type result for an entire minimal graph. 相似文献
