Based on linear three-dimensional piezoelasticity, the Legendre orthogonal polynomial series expansion approach is used for determining the wave characteristics in hollow cylinders composed of the functionally graded piezoelectric materials (FGPM) with open circuit. The displacement and electric potential components, expanded in a series of Legendre polynomials, are introduced into the governing equations along with position-dependent material constants so that the solution of the wave equation is reduced to an eigenvalue problem. Dispersion curves for FGPM and the corresponding non-piezoelectric hollow cylinders are calculated to show the piezoelectric effect. The influence of the ratio of radius to thickness is discussed. Electric potential and displacement distributions are used to show the piezoelectric effect on the flexural torsional mode. The influence of the polarizing direction on the piezoelectric effect is illustrated. For the radial and axial polarization, the piezoelectric effect reacts mostly on the longitudinal mode. For circumferential polarization, the piezoelectric effect reacts mostly on the torsional mode. In the FGPM hollow cylinder, piezoelectricity can weaken the guided wave dispersion.  相似文献

The nonaxisymmetric problem of natural vibrations of radially polarized hollow cylinders made of functionally gradient piezoelectric materials is solved. The properties of the material change continuously along a radial coordinate according to an exponential law. The lateral surfaces of the cylinder are free of external tractions and short circuited by electrodes. After separation of variables and representation of the components of the displacement vector in the form of standing circumferential waves, the initially three-dimensional problem is reduced to a two-dimensional partial differential equation problem. By using the method of spline-collocations with respect to a longitudinal coordinate, this two-dimensional problem is reduced to a boundary-value problem for the eigenvalues expressed in terms of ordinary differential equations. This problem is solved by the stable discrete-orthogonalization technique in combination with a step-by-step search method with respect to the radial coordinate. Results were obtained numerically and subsequently analyzed in this paper.  相似文献

Based on the theory of piezoelasticity, a functionally graded piezoelectric sandwich cantilever under an applied electric field and/or a heat load is studied. All materials may be arbitrary functional gradients in the thickness direction. The static solution for the mentioned problems is presented by the Airy stress function method. As a special case, assuming that the material composition varies continuously in the direction of the thickness according to a power law distribution, a comprehensive parametric study is conducted to show the influence of electromechanical coupling (EMC), functionally graded index, temperature change and thickness ratio on the bending behavior of actuators or sensors. The distribution of electric field or normal stress in present FGPM actuators is continuous along the thickness, which overcomes the problem in traditional layered actuators. The solution facilitates the design optimization for different piezoelectric actuators and has another potential application for material parameter identification.  相似文献

An analytic solution to the axisymmetric problem of a long, radially polarized, hollow cylinder composed of functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) rotating about its axis at a constant angular velocity is presented. For the case that electric, thermal and mechanical properties of the material obey different power laws in the thickness direction, distributions for radial displacement, stresses and electric potential in the FGPM hollow cylinder are determined by using the theory of electrothermoelasticity. Some useful discussions and numerical examples are presented to show the significant influence of material nonhomogeneity, and adopting suitable graded indexes and applying suitable geometric size and rotating velocity ω may optimize the rotating FGPM hollow cylindrical structures. This will be of particular importance in modern engineering application.  相似文献

Analytical solutions to rotating functionally graded hollow and solid long cylinders are developed. Young's modulus and material density of the cylinder are assumed to vary exponentially in the radial direction, and Poisson's ratio is assumed to be constant. A unified governing equation is derived from the equilibrium equations, compatibility equation, deformation theory of elasticity and the stress-strain relationship. The governing second-order differential equation is solved in terms of a hypergeometric function for the elastic deformation of rotating functionally graded cylinders. Dependence of stresses in the cylinder on the inhomogeneous parameters, geometry and boundary conditions is examined and discussed. The proposed solution is validated by comparing the results for rotating functionally graded hollow and solid cylinders with the results for rotating homogeneous isotropic cylinders. In addition, a viscoelastic solution to the rotating viscoelastic cylinder is presented, and dependence of stresses in hollow and solid cylinders on the time parameter is examined.  相似文献

This paper presents an analytical solution of a thick walled cylinder com- posed of a functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) and subjected to a uniform electric field and non-axisymmetric thermo-mechanical loads. All material properties, except Poisson's ratio that is assumed to be constant, obey the same power law. An exact solution for the resulting Navier equations is developed by the separation of variables and complex Fourier series. Stress and strain distributions and a displacement field through the cylinder are obtained by this technique. To examine the analytical approach, different examples are solved by this method, and the results are discussed.  相似文献

This paper presents an analysis of the thermomechanical behavior of hollow circular cylinders of functionally graded material (FGM). The solutions are obtained by a novel limiting process that employs the solutions of homogeneous hollow circular cylinders, with no recourse to the basic theory or the equations of non-homogeneous thermoelasticity. Several numerical cases are studied, and conclusions are drawn regarding the general properties of thermal stresses in the FGM cylinder. We conclude that thermal stresses necessarily occur in the FGM cylinder, except in the trivial case of zero temperature. While heat resistance may be improved by sagaciously designing the material composition, careful attention must be paid to the fact that thermal stresses in the FGM cylinder are governed by more factors than are its homogeneous counterparts. The results that are presented here will serve as benchmarks for future related work.  相似文献

In this article, transient heat conduction in a cylindrical shell of functionally graded material is studied by using analytical method. The shell is assumed to be in axisymmetry conditions. The material properties are considered to be nonlinear with a power law distribution through the thickness. The temperature distribution is derived analytically by using the Bessel functions. To verify the proposed method the obtained numerical results are compared with the published results. The comparisons of temperature distribution between various time and material properties are presented.  相似文献

Exact solutions are obtained for transient torsio- nal responses of a finitely long, functionally graded hollow cylinder under three different end conditions, i.e. free-free, free-fixed and fixed-fixed. The cylinder with its external surface fixed is subjected to a dynamic shearing stress at the internal surface. The material properties are assumed to vary in the radial direction in a power law form, while keep invariant in the axial direction. With expansion in the axial direction in terms of trigonometric series, the governing equations for the unknown functions about the radial coordinate r and time t are deduced. By applying the variable substitution technique, the superposition method and the separation of variables consecutively, series-form solutions of the equations are obtained. Natural frequencies and the transient torsional responses are finally discussed for a functionally graded finite hollow cylinder.  相似文献

An elastodynamic solution for plane-strain response of functionally graded thick hollow cylinders subjected to uniformly-distributed dynamic pressures at boundary surfaces is presented. The material properties, except Poisson’s ratio, are assumed to vary through the thickness according to a power law function. To achieve an exact solution, the dynamic radial displacement is divided into two quasi-static and dynamic parts, and for each part, an analytical solution is derived. The quasi-static solution is obtained by means of Euler’s equation, and the dynamic solution is derived using the method of the separation of variables and the orthogonal expansion technique. The radial displacement and stress distributions are plotted for various functionally graded material (FGM) hollow cylinders under different dynamic loads, and the advantages of the presented method are discussed. The proposed analytical solution is suitable for analyzing various arrangements of hollow FGM cylinders with arbitrary thickness and arbitrary initial conditions, which are subjected to arbitrary forms of dynamic pressures distributed uniformly on their boundary surfaces.  相似文献

Analytical studies on electromagnetoelastic behaviors are presented for the functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) solid cylinder and sphere placed in a uniform magnetic field and subjected to the external pressure and electric loading. When the mechanical, electric and magnetic properties of the material obey an identical power law in the radial direction, the exact displacements, stresses, electric potentials and perturbations of magnetic field vector in the FGPM solid cylinder and sphere are obtained by using the infinitesimal theory of electromagnetoelasticity. Numerical examples also show the significant influence of material inhomogeneity. It is interesting to note that selecting a specific value of inhomogeneity parameter can optimize the electromagnetoelastic responses, which will be of particular importance in modern engineering designs.  相似文献

In the present paper, the analytical solution for a radially piezoelectric functionally graded rotating hollow shaft is presented. The variation of material properties is assumed to follow a power law along the radial direction of the shaft. Two resulting fully coupled differential equations in terms of the displacement and electric potential are solved directly. Numerical results for different shaft geometries with different profiles of inhomogeneity are also graphically displayed.  相似文献

Bending of functionally graded piezoelectric rectangular plates   总被引:25,自引:0,他引:25
By introducing two displacement functions as well as two stress functions, two independent state equations with variable coefficients are derived from the three-dimensional theory equations of piezoelasticity for transverse isotropy. A laminated approximation is used to transform the state equations to those with constant coefficients in each sub-layer. The bending problem of a functionally graded rectangular plate is then analyzed based on the state equations. Numerical results are presented and the effect of material gradient index is discussed. To investigate the features of Love waves in a layered functionally graded piezoelectric structure, the mathematical model is established on the basis of the elastic wave theory, and the WKB method is applied to solve the coupled electromechanical field differential equation. The solutions of the mechanical displacement and electrical potential function are obtained for the piezoelectric layer and elastic substrate. The dispersion relations of Love waves are deduced for electric open and short cases on the free surface respectively. The actual piezoelectric layer–elastic substrate systems are taken into account, and some corresponding numerical examples are proposed comparatively. Thus, the effects of the gradient variation about material constants on the phase velocity, the group velocity, the coupled electromechanical factor and the cutoff frequency are discussed in detail. So the propagation behaviors of Love waves in inhomogeneous medium is revealed, and the dispersion and the anti-dispersion are analyzed. The conclusions are significant both theoretically and practically for the surface acoustic wave devices.  相似文献

The fracture behavior of a cracked strip under antiplane mechanical and inplane electrical loading is studied. A functionally graded piezoelectric strip with exponential material gradation is under consideration. The mechanical and electrical loading is combined via loading coupling factor. The problem of a graded piezoelectric strip containing a screw dislocation is solved. This solution results in stress and electric displacement components with Cauchy singularity. Based on the solution achieved for the dislocation, the distributed dislocation technique (DDT) is utilized to form any geometry of multiple cracks and analyze the behavior of a cracked strip under antiplane mechanical and inplane electrical loading. This technique is capable of the analysis of a strip with a system of interacting cracks. Several examples including strips with single crack, two straight cracks and two curved cracks are presented.  相似文献

The free vibration of an arbitrarily thick orthotropic piezoelectric hollow cylinder with a functionally graded property along the thickness direction and filled with a non-viscous compressible fluid medium is investigated. The analysis is directly based on the three-dimensional exact equations of piezoelasticity using the so-called state space formulations. The original functionally graded shell is approximated by a laminate model, of which the solution will gradually approach the exact one when the number of layers increases. The effect of internal fluid can be taken into consideration by imposing a relation between the fluid pressure and the radial displacement at the interface. Analytical frequency equations are derived for different electrical boundary conditions at two cylindrical surfaces. As particular cases, free vibration of multi-layered piezoelectric hollow cylinder and wave propagation in infinite homogeneous cylinder are studied. Numerical comparison with available results is made and dispersion curves predicted from the present three-dimensional analysis are given. Numerical examples are further performed to investigate the effects of various parameters on the natural frequencies.  相似文献

A paper focuses on implementation of the sampling surfaces (SaS) method for the three-dimensional (3D) exact solutions for functionally graded (FG) piezoelectric laminated shells. According to this method, we introduce inside the nth layer In not equally spaced SaS parallel to the middle surface of the shell and choose displacements and electric potentials of these surfaces as basic shell variables. Such choice of unknowns yields, first, a very compact form of governing equations of the FG piezoelectric shell formulation and, second, allows the use of strain–displacement equations, which exactly represent rigid-body motions of the shell in any convected curvilinear coordinate system. It is worth noting that the SaS are located inside each layer at Chebyshev polynomial nodes that leads to a uniform convergence of the SaS method. As a result, the SaS method can be applied efficiently to 3D exact solutions of electroelasticity for FG piezoelectric cross-ply and angle-ply shells with a specified accuracy by using a sufficient number of SaS.  相似文献
