Let be the fundamental group of a closed orientable surface of genus g 1, and let R(, G)/G be the space of conjugacy classes of representations of into a connected real reductive Lie group G. Motivated by the theory of geometric quantization, we define a map ¯ on R(, G)/G and investigate whether the fibres of ¯ are isotropic with respect to the natural symplectic structure on R(, G)/G. If g = 2 and G = SU(2), then the foliation given by the fibres of ¯ is equivalent to a real polarization defined by Weitsman, and we reprove his result that the fibres are isotropic in this case. If g = 1 then the fibres of ¯ are also isotropic, but we give an example to show that in general they are not.  相似文献

The first part of this paper describes the construction of pseudo-Riemannian homogeneous spaces with special curvature properties such as Einstein spaces, using corresponding known compact Riemannian ones. This construction is based on the notion of a certain duality between compact and non-compact homogeneous spaces. In the second part we apply this method to obtain pseudo-Riemannian homogeneous manifolds with real Killing spinors. We will prove that under a certain additional condition a dual pseudo-Riemannian space (G/H, g) of a compact Riemannian homogeneous space (G/H, g) with homogeneousSpin-structure admits a homogeneousSpin +-structure and theG_invariant Killing spinors on (G/H, g) correspond toG-invariant Killing spinors on (G/H, g). We can ensure that in most cases the hypothesis onG-invariance is satisfied.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group and a set of n elements. Assume that G acts faithfully on and let V be a vector space over the complex field , with dim V = m 2. It is shown that for each irreducible constituent of permutation character of G, the symmetry class of tensors associated with G and is non-trivial. LetV be a finite dimensional complex linear space and letG be a compact subgroup of GL(V). We prove that an orbitG, V, is polynomially convex if and only ifG is closed andG is the real form ofG . For every orbitG which is not polynomially convex we construct an analytic annulus or strip inG with the boundary inG. It is also proved that the group of holomorphic automorphisms ofG which commute withG acts transitively on the set of polynomially convexG-orbits. Further, an analog of the Kempf-Ness criterion is obtained and homogeneous spaces of compact Lie groups which admit only polynomially convex equivariant embeddings are characterized.Supported by Federal program Integratsiya, no. 586.Supported by INTAS grant 97/10170.  相似文献

Let the set of generalized polynomials having bounded coefficients beK={p= jgj. j j j,j=1, 2, ...,n}, whereg 1,g 2, ...,g n are linearly independent continuous functions defined on the interval [a, b], j, j are extended real numbers satisfying j<+, j>-, and j j. Assume thatf is a continuous function defined on a compact setX [a, b]. This paper gives the characterization theorem forp being the best uniform approximation tof fromK, and points out that the characterization theorem can be applied in calculating the approximate solution of best approximation tof fromK.  相似文献

If (P, L) is a projective plane and is a triangle presentation compatible with a point-line correspondence :P L, then gives rise to a group and a thick building of typeà 2 on the vertices of which acts simply transitively. We find all triangle presentations (up to natural equivalence) compatible with some point-line correspondence :P L, when (P, L) is the projective plane of orderq=2 orq=3. For some, but not all, of these , is isomorphic to the building associated withG=PGL(3,K) whereK is a local field with discrete valuation and residual field of orderq. We identify the for which this is the case, and in these cases, find embeddings of intoG. We also describe the arithmetic nature of these groups.  相似文献

For 0<1 and graphsG andH, we writeGH if any -proportion of the edges ofG span at least one copy ofH inG. As customary, we writeC k for a cycle of lengthk. We show that, for every fixed integerl1 and real >0, there exists a real constantC=C(l, ), such that almost every random graphG n, p withp=p(n)Cn –1+1/2l satisfiesG n,p1/2+ C 2l+1. In particular, for any fixedl1 and >0, this result implies the existence of very sparse graphsG withG 1/2+ C 2l+1.The first author was partially supported by NSERC. In this paper we give Coxeter presentation (X, ) for the three Fischer groupsG=Fi22, Fi23, Fi24; we apply methods exposed in the first part. Each of these groups is generated by a class of 3-transpositions (named here a Fischer class) in which elements ofX are chosen. A subset of is the set of all the relations (xy) m(x,y)=1, wherex andy are inX and wherem(x,y) means the order ofxy inG. We obtainG as a specified quotient of the Coxeter group (X, ) with the appropriate diagram .  相似文献

LetG be a domain inC n ,EG, mes E=0 for (r)=r 2n–1(r), where (r) is a nondecreasing non-negative function (r>0). Iff(z) is holomorphic inGE and (,f, GE)(), C=const, thenf(z) is holomorphic inG.The impossibility of the relaxation of the stipulations on () and(r) is also established. The statement above is a corollary to a more general result about the representation of a holomorphic function from a certain class in the form of an integral with respect to -measure, extended over the set of singular points of the function.  相似文献

Let be a univariant function, and letg(x) be the average of (x,u) asu runs over the unit sphere in n . We give a necessary and sufficient condition forg to be a kernel function, i.e., thatg be inL 1 ( n ) and have integral 1. The result is used to give a constructive proof of the density of the ridge functions based upon the function .  相似文献

Summary Let denote the class of infinite product probability measures = 1× 2× defined on an infinite product of replications of a given measurable space (X, A), and let denote the subset of for which (A) =0 or 1 for each permutation invariant event A. Previous works by Hewitt and Savage, Horn and Schach, Blum and Pathak, and Sendler (referenced in the paper) discuss very restrictive sufficient conditions under which a given member , of belongs to . In the present paper, the class is shown to possess several closure properties. E.g., if and 0 n for some n 1, then 0× 1× 2×.... While the current results do not permit a complete characterization of they demonstrate conclusively that is a much larger subset of than previous results indicated. The interesting special case X={0,1} is discussed in detail.Research supported by the National Science Foundation under grant No. MCS75-07556  相似文献

LetG be a graph, andk1 an integer. LetU be a subset ofV(G), and letF be a spanning subgraph ofG such that deg F (x)=k for allx V(G)–U. If deg F (x)k for allxU, thenF is called an upper semi-k-regular factor with defect setU, and if deg F (x)k for allxU, thenF is called a lower semi-k-regular factor with defect setU. Now letG=(X, Y;E(G)) be a bipartite graph with bipartition (X,Y) such that X=Yk+2. We prove the following two results.(1) Suppose that for each subsetU 1X such that U 1=max{k+1, X+1/2},G has an upper semi-k-regular factor with defect setU 1Y, and for each subsetU 2Y such that U 2=max{k+1, X+1/2},G has an upper semi-k-regular factor with defect setXU 2. ThenG has ak-factor.(2) Suppose that for each subsetU 1X such that U 1=X–1/k+1,G has a lower semi-k-regular factor with defect setU 1Y, and for each subsetU 2Y such that U 2=X–1/k+1,G has a lower semi-k-regular factor with defect setXU 2. ThenG has ak-factor.  相似文献

Let be a probability measure on a locally compact groupG. A real Borel functionf onG is called -harmonic if it satisfies the convolution equation *f=f. Given that isnonsingular with its translates, we show that the bounded -harmonic functions are constant on a class of groups including the almost connected [IN]-groups. If is nondegenerate and absolutely continuous, we solve the more general equation *= for positive measure on those groups which are metrizable and separable.Supported by Hong Kong RGC Earmarked Grant and CUHK Direct Grant  相似文献

We estimate the kinematic measure of one convex domain moving to another under the groupG of rigid motions in n . We first estimate the kinematic formula for the total scalar curvature D 0gD 1 Rdv of then–2 dimensional intersection submanifold D 0gD 1. Then we use Chern and Yen's kinematic fundamental formula and our integral inequality to obtain a sufficient condition for one convex domain to contain another in n (4). Forn=4, we directly obtain another sufficient condition in 4.  相似文献

Given a connected graphG=(V, E) with |V|=n and maximum degree such thatG is neither a complete graph nor an odd cycle, Brooks' theorem states thatG can be colored with colors. We generalize this as follows: letG-v be -colored; then,v can be colored by considering the vertices in anO(log n) radius aroundv and by recoloring anO(log n) length augmenting path inside it. Using this, we show that -coloringG is reducible inO(log3 n/log) time to (+1)-vertex coloringG in a distributed model of computation. This leads to fast distributed algorithms and a linear-processorNC algorithm for -coloring.A preliminary version of this paper appeared as part of the paper Improved Distributed Algorithms for Coloring and Network Decomposition Problems, in theProceedings of the ACM Symposium on Theory of Computing pages 581–592, 1992. Consider a triangular array of standard Gaussian random variables {n,i, i 0, n 1} such that {n,i, i 0} is a stationary normal sequence for each n 1. Let n,k = corr(n,i,n,i+k). If (1-n,k)log n k (0,) as n for some k, then the locations where the extreme values occur cluster and the limiting distribution of the maxima is still the Gumbel distribution as in the stationary or i.i.d. case, but shifted by a parameter measuring the clustering. Triangular arrays of Gaussian sequences are used to approximate a continuous Gaussian process X(t), t 0. The cluster behavior of the random sequence refers to the behavior of the extremes values of the continuous process. The relation is analyzed. It reveals a new definition of the constants H used for the limiting distribution of maxima of continuous Gaussian processes and provides further understanding of the limit result for these extremes.  相似文献

Star chromatic numbers of graphs   总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10
We investigate the relation between the star-chromatic number (G) and the chromatic number (G) of a graphG. First we give a sufficient condition for graphs under which their starchromatic numbers are equal to their ordinary chromatic numbers. As a corollary we show that for any two positive integersk, g, there exists ak-chromatic graph of girth at leastg whose star-chromatic number is alsok. The special case of this corollary withg=4 answers a question of Abbott and Zhou. We also present an infinite family of triangle-free planar graphs whose star-chromatic number equals their chromatic number. We then study the star-chromatic number of An infinite family of graphs is constructed to show that for each >0 and eachm2 there is anm-connected (m+1)-critical graph with star chromatic number at mostm+. This answers another question asked by Abbott and Zhou.  相似文献
