研究了当市场中同时存在战略顾客和短视顾客时零售商的最优定价与容量选择问题。零售商在正常销售阶段和出清销售阶段制定不同的销售价格,同时通过容量选择影响战略顾客的购买行为,而战略顾客则根据零售商的定价和容量选择确定最优购买时机。分别分析了零售商在无限容量时的定价决策、固定价格时的容量选择、固定容量时的定价决策以及有限容量下的定价与容量选择四种情形。研究结果表明,零售商在无容量限制时的最优定价决策是制定两阶段定价策略,在固定价格时的最优容量选择依赖于模型的参数,而当零售商的容量固定时,部分满足出清销售阶段的顾客需求始终优于完全满足出清销售阶段的顾客需求。  相似文献

We present an extension to the multi-product newsvendor problem by incorporating the retailer’s pricing decision as well as considering supplier quantity discount. The objective is to maximize the expected profit of the retailer through jointly determining the ordering quantities and selling prices for the products, subject to multiple capacity constraints. We formulate the problem as a Generalized Disjunctive Programming (GDP) model and develop a Lagrangian heuristic approach for its solution. Randomly produced instances involving up to 1000 products are used to test the proposed approach. Computational results show that the Lagrangian heuristic approach can present very good solutions to all instances in reasonable time.  相似文献

We study inventory ordering policies for products that attract demand at a decreasing rate as they approach the end of their usable lifetime, for example, perishable items nearing expiration. We consider the “product freshness’’, or equivalently, the time until expiration (“residual life”) as a factor influencing the customer demand. In a profit-maximizing framework, we build on the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) replenishment model and formulate the inventory ordering problem using a deterministic demand function that is concave decreasing in the the age of the product. We provide analytical results on the optimal ordering policy, including an explicit characterization of the decisions in the linear-demand case, and we develop an easy-to-implement adaptive heuristic policy for the general case. Numerical examples show that the optimal policy generates significant profit gains compared to the traditional cost-based policies and the adaptive heuristic policy performs highly satisfactorily in the tested instances.  相似文献

In remanufacturing, the supply of used products and the demand for remanufactured products are usually mismatched because of the great uncertainties on both sides. In this paper, we propose a dynamic pricing (DP) policy to balance this uncertain supply and demand. Specifically, we study a remanufacturer’s problem of pricing a single class of cores with random price-dependent returns and random demand for the remanufactured products with backlogs. We model this pricing task as a continuous-time Markov decision process, which addresses both the finite and infinite horizon problems, and provide managerial insights by analysing the structural properties of the optimal policy. We then use several computational examples to illustrate the impacts of particular system parameters on pricing policy and the benefit of DP. In addition, the models are extended to account for the price adjustment costs. We show through numerical example that the nice structural properties do not exist any longer, and find when DP is better than static pricing.  相似文献

We consider the joint pricing and inventory control problem for a single product over a finite horizon and with periodic review. The demand distribution in each period is determined by an exogenous Markov chain. Pricing and ordering decisions are made at the beginning of each period and all shortages are backlogged. The surplus costs as well as fixed and variable costs are state dependent. We show the existence of an optimal (sSp)-type feedback policy for the additive demand model. We extend the model to the case of emergency orders. We compute the optimal policy for a class of Markovian demand and illustrate the benefits of dynamic pricing over fixed pricing through numerical examples. The results indicate that it is more beneficial to implement dynamic pricing in a Markovian demand environment with a high fixed ordering cost or with high demand variability.  相似文献

We study a joint ordering and pricing problem for a retailer whose supplier provides all-unit quantity discount for the product. Both generalized disjunctive programming model and mixed integer nonlinear programming model are presented to formulate the problem. Some properties of the problem are analysed, based on which a solution algorithm is developed. Two numerical examples are presented to illustrate the problem, which are solved by our solution algorithm. Managerial analysis indicates that supplier quantity discount has much influence on the ordering and pricing policy of the retailer and more profit can be obtained when the supplier provides quantity discount.  相似文献

This paper addresses the problem of managing flexible production capacity in a make-to-order (MTO) manufacturing environment. We present a multi-period capacity management model where we distinguish between process flexibility (the ability to produce multiple products on multiple production lines) and operational flexibility (the ability to dynamically change capacity allocations among different product families over time). For operational flexibility, we consider two polices: a fixed allocation policy where the capacity allocations are fixed throughout the planning horizon and a dynamic allocation policy where the capacity allocations change from period to period. The former approach is modeled as a single-stage stochastic program and solved using a cutting-plane method. The latter approach is modeled as a multi-stage stochastic program and a sampling-based decomposition method is presented to identify a feasible policy and assess the quality of that policy. A computational experiment quantifies the benefits of operational flexibility and demonstrates that it is most beneficial when the demand and capacity are well-balanced and the demand variability is high. Additionally, our results reveal that myopic operating policies may lead a firm to adopt more process flexibility and form denser flexibility configuration chains. That is, process flexibility may be over-valued in the literature since it is assumed that a firm will operate optimally after the process flexibility decision. We also show that the value of process flexibility increases with the number of periods in the planning horizon if an optimal operating policy is employed. This result is reversed if a myopic allocation policy is adopted instead.  相似文献

This paper examines the multiple period inventory control problem of a single product with multiple (two) prices, depending on service level, in which optimal pricing and ordering decisions are made in each period. Traditional inventory and pricing models consider only single products, single prices, and single service levels. However, this research paper finds that a seller can improve inventory control and revenue by offering multiple prices depending on service level. This research considers a single product with multiple (two) pricing policies corresponding to service level as follows: if the customer is willing to delay the shipment, he/she will be offered a lower regular price. Otherwise, the customer will pay the regular price plus extra charges for express service. In this paper, I show the following: (1) there is an optimal pricing and replenishment policy that can control inventory and (2) there exists a finite threshold for inventory levels such that if the inventory level at the beginning of each period is higher than the threshold, the customer will be offered the express service at the regular price, without any extra charge.  相似文献

基于制造商生产主产品的过程中会随机产出两类存在替代关系的副产品的联产品系统,采用清仓定价模型,研究了不同需求函数(线性需求和指数需求)下,制造商对于主产品和副产品的最优产量与定价策略。通过两阶段优化模型的建立和求解,确定了主产品的最优产量和价格。借助数值分析,归纳出产品替代度和产出波动性对最优产量和利润的影响。研究结果表明,随着产品替代度的增加,制造商的产量上升;随着波动性的增加,制造商的产量下降。最后,将模型扩展到市场非出清的情况,并得出制造商的最优生产决策。  相似文献

This paper analyzes the impact of dynamic pricing on the single product economic order decision of a monopolist retailer. Items are procured from an external supplier according to the economic order quantity (EOQ) model and are sold to customers on a single market without competition following the simple monopolist pricing problem. Coordinated decision making of optimal pricing and ordering is influenced by operating costs – including ordering and inventory holding costs – and the demand rate obtained from a price response function. The retailer is allowed to vary the selling price, either in a fixed number of discrete points in time or continuously. While constant and continuous pricing have received much attention in the literature, problems with a limited number of price changes are rather rare. This paper illustrates the benefit of dynamically changing prices to achieve operational efficiency in the EOQ model, that is to trigger high demand rates when inventories are high. We provide structural properties of the optimal time instants when the price should be changed. Taking into account costs for changes in price, it provides numerical guidance on number, timing, and size of price changes during an order cycle. Numerical examples show that the benefits of dynamic pricing in an EOQ framework can be achieved with only a few price changes and that products being unprofitable under static pricing may become profitable under dynamic pricing.  相似文献

Pricing and inventory management make up together revenue management, which is a significant effort to boost revenues out of available resources. Firms use various forms of dynamic pricing, including personalized pricing, markdowns, promotions, coupons, discounts, and clearance sales, to respond to market fluctuations and demand uncertainty. In this paper, we study a temporary price increase policy, a form of dynamic pricing, for a non-perishable product, a practice used by several giant retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and Apple. We develop a continuous review inventory model that allows for joint replenishment and pricing decisions, where the lead time is not zero. A replenishment decision controls supply, while a pricing decision controls demand. A manager exercises a temporary price increase to slow demand and avoid a stock-out situation while waiting for a shipment, which may not necessarily increase revenues, but decrease stock-out costs. The problem is to solve for the optimal replenishment and the pricing policy parameters that maximize the long-run expected profit. That is, when and how much to order and when to raise the price. In this paper, the inventory level and time trigger a price increase. We solve many numerical examples and perform extensive sensitivity analyses. Our results show that compared to a model that focuses on fixed pricing, our model brings an additional increase in profit of about 13%.  相似文献

This paper studies a single-product, dynamic, non-stationary, stochastic inventory problem with capacity commitment, in which a buyer purchases a fixed capacity from a supplier at the beginning of a planning horizon and the buyer’s total cumulative order quantity over the planning horizon is constrained with the capacity. The objective of the buyer is to choose the capacity at the beginning of the planning horizon and the order quantity in each period to minimize the expected total cost over the planning horizon. We characterize the structure of the minimum sum of the expected ordering, storage and shortage costs in a period and thereafter and the optimal ordering policy for a given capacity. Based on the structure, we identify conditions under which a myopic ordering policy is optimal and derive an equation for the optimal capacity commitment. We then use the optimal capacity and the myopic ordering policy to evaluate the effect of the various parameters on the minimum expected total cost over the planning horizon.  相似文献

在无套利框架的基础上,讨论基于个体公平原则下的寿险产品定价问题,即运用倒向随机微分方程理论,将投保人和保险人置于同一系统中进行考虑:首先,根据双方的随机投资决策目标分别建立无套利寿险定价模型和动态资产份额定价模型,得出两个特殊线性倒向随机微分方程的显式解;然后,建立基于个体公平原则的寿险定价模型,从投保人和保险人双方的角度对寿险产品进行公平定价,得出了从供需双方考虑的投资回报定价公式;最后,利用所建立的模型进行案例分析,计算出基于个体公平原则的保费及保险公司的投资策略.该寿险产品定价模型不仅考虑了保险人的意愿,还同时考虑了投保人的实际情况,因此,按此定价理念开发出的保险产品,不仅可以提高产品研发的成功率,而且使得研发出的新产品更能在竞争激烈的保险市场中站稳脚步.  相似文献

The motivation for our study comes from some production and inventory systems in which ordering/producing quantities that exceed certain thresholds in a given period might eliminate some setup activities in the next period. Many examples of such systems have been discussed in prior research but the analysis has been limited to production settings under deterministic demand. In this paper, we consider a periodic-review production-inventory model under stochastic demand and incorporate the following fixed-cost structure into our analysis. When the order quantity in a given period exceeds a specified threshold value, the system is assumed to be in a “warm” state and no fixed cost is incurred in the next period regardless of the order quantity; otherwise the system state is considered “cold” and a positive fixed cost is required to place an order. Assuming that the unsatisfied demand is lost, we develop a dynamic programming formulation of the problem and utilize the concepts of quasi-K-convexity and non-K-decreasing to show some structural results on the optimal cost-to-go functions. This analysis enables us to derive a partial characterization of the optimal policy under the assumption that the demands follow a Pólya or uniform distribution. The optimal policy is defined over multiple decision regions for each system state. We develop heuristic policies that are aimed to address the partially characterized decisions, simplify the ordering policy, and save computational efforts in implementation. The numerical experiments conducted on a large set of test instances including uniform, normal and Poisson demand distributions show that a heuristic policy that is inspired by the optimal policy is able to find the optimal solution in almost all instances, and that a so-called generalized base-stock policy provides quite satisfactory results under reasonable computational efforts. We use our numerical examples to generate insights on the impact of problem parameters. Finally, we extend our analysis into the infinite horizon setting and show that the structure of the optimal policy remains similar.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze the impact of supplier pricing schemes and supplier capacity limitations on the optimal sourcing policy for a single firm. We consider the situation where the total quantity to be procured for a single period is known by the firm and communicated to the supplier set. In response to this communication, each supplier quotes a price and a capacity limit in terms of a maximum quantity that can be supplied to the buyer. Based on this information, the buyer makes a quantity allocation decision among the suppliers and corresponding to this decision is the choice of a subset of suppliers who will receive an order. Based on industry observations, a variety of supplier pricing schemes from the constituent group of suppliers are analyzed, including linear discounts, incremental units discounts, and all units discounts. Given the complexity of the optimization problem for certain types of pricing schemes, heuristic solution methodologies are developed to identify a quantity allocation decision for the firm. Through an extensive computational comparison, we find that these heuristics generate near-optimal solutions very quickly. Data from a major office products retailer is used to illustrate the resulting sourcing strategies given different pricing schemes and capacity limitations of suppliers in this industry. We find for the case of capacity constrained suppliers, the optimal quantity allocations for two complex pricing schemes (linear discount, and incremental units discount) are such that at most one selected supplier will receive an order quantity that is less than its capacity.  相似文献

This paper determines the optimal ordering policy for a two-product, periodic-review inventory problem in which the probability of supply availability is unknown. Moreover, there are two different fixed costs assigned to each product. Demand rates are random variables with known probability density functions, and the supply availability for each product is updated at the beginning of each time period. We prove the optimality of (s,S) policy with a monotone switching curve that indicates the priority of production, where the order-up-to levels and the reorder points are functions of supply availability information. A simple computation is proposed to calculate the two threshold levels. Bayesian updating helps to manage the optimal ordering policy by updating supply disruption information. Numerical results show that improving the accuracy of the forecast leads to making a better ordering decision and eliminating the negative effect of supply disruption on the total cost.  相似文献

This paper studies coordination mechanisms in a supply chain which consists of two suppliers with capacity uncertainties selling differential yet substitutable products through a common retailer who faces price-sensitive random demand of these two products. We develop in a noncompetitive setting three coordination models – revenue sharing, return policy, and combination of revenue sharing and return policy – and contrast them with a basic and uncoordinated model. We are able to establish the ordinal relationship among the retailer’s ordering and pricing decisions and analytically compare the performances between certain models when two suppliers are identical. We find that the retailer’s ordering and pricing decisions in the model with return policy in the case of identical suppliers are independent of demand or supply uncertainty. Our numerical results reveal that the performances of coordination models in the case of nonidentical suppliers resemble those in the case of identical suppliers. We find that the retailer will place a larger order quantity in models where her average cost per unit sold is smaller. We also find that product substitutability and uncertainties have different effects on chain performances.  相似文献

Existing customer preference based product design models do not consider product prices and consumer budgets. These models assume that a purchase is based only on the satisfaction obtained from the product, irrespective of the product price and customer budget. However, when products are expensive relative to buyers' budgets, the effect of prices and budgets must be considered in addition to customer satisfaction. Most current models, moreover, assume that a low preference for one product characteristic is compensated by high preference for another, which may not hold for unacceptable levels of characteristics. For such products, we incorporate prices, budget constraints, and minimum acceptable thresholds in our model. To solve the model we develop a highly accurate, robust and efficient Beam Search (BS) based heuristic that identifies optimal or near optimal product lines. The heuristic is tested on 300 simulated problems and an application. It is also compared to a Genetic Algorithms (GA) based heuristic. We found that our heuristic worked better than the GA heuristic in identifying optimal and near optimal solutions quickly. We also give detailed examples that illustrate the heuristic and demonstrate a pricing analysis application of the model.  相似文献
