In modern short-pulse fiber lasers, there is significant pulse breathing over each round trip of the laser loop. Consequently, averaged models cannot be used for quantitative modeling and design. Instead, lumped models, which are obtained by concatenating models for the various components of the laser, are required. As the pulses in lumped models are periodic rather than stationary, their linear stability is evaluated with the aid of the monodromy operator obtained by linearizing the round-trip operator about the periodic pulse. Conditions are given on the smoothness and decay of the periodic pulse that ensure that the monodromy operator exists on an appropriate Lebesgue function space. A formula for the essential spectrum of the monodromy operator is given, which can be used to quantify the growth rate of continuous wave perturbations. This formula is established by showing that the essential spectrum of the monodromy operator equals that of an associated asymptotic operator. Since the asymptotic monodromy operator acts as a multiplication operator in the Fourier domain, it is possible to derive a formula for its spectrum. Although the main results are stated for a particular experimental stretched pulse laser, the analysis shows that they can be readily adapted to a wide range of lumped laser models.  相似文献

In this note, we study a discontinuous three-term recurrence relation which arises from seeking the steady states of a cellular neural network with step control function. Several collections of periodic solutions are found. A necessary and sufficient condition for a solution to be periodic is stated and aperiodic solutions are found as consequences. We also show that any periodic solution can be derived from a primary periodic solution with least period not divisible by 5. Although the periodic or aperiodic solutions we found are not exhaustive, they are quite abundant and may reflect some of the rich physical phenomena in true biological systems. Our method in this note may also provide a general approach to analyze the periodicity of solutions of similar recurrence relations.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to obtain information about a periodic Jordan ring by using only properties of its idempotent elements. Osborn proves that a power-associative periodic ring having only one nonzero idempotent element is a division ring. so associative. He also proves that a periodic Jordan ring is a subdirect product of simple periodic Jordan rings and that a simple periodic Jordan ring is either a periodic field or a Jordan ring of capacity 2. Using these results we obtain some necessary and suficient conditions for a periodic Jordan ring to be associative, and these conditions are only given in terms of the idempotent elements. We also characterize the periodic Jordan ring which are a direct product of periodic fields and simple periodic Jordan rings of capacity two.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate a classical periodic Lotka–Volterra competing system with impulsive perturbations. The conditions for the linear stability of trivial periodic solution and semi-trivial periodic solutions are given by applying Floquet theory of linear periodic impulsive equation, and we also give the conditions for the global stability of these solutions as a consequence of some abstract monotone iterative schemes introduced in this paper, which will be also used to get some sufficient conditions for persistence. By using the method of coincidence degree, the conditions for the existence of at least one strictly positive (componentwise) periodic solution are derived. The theoretical results are confirmed by a specific example and numerical simulations. It shows that the dynamic behaviors of the system we consider are quite different from the corresponding system without pulses.  相似文献

To keep a sustainable and steady output of ethanol, ethanol fermentation in a bio-reactor with impulsive state feedback control is formulated. The sufficient conditions for existences of order-1 periodic solution and order-2 periodic solution are obtained by using the properties of the periodic solution. The results imply that ethanol fermentation tends to an order-1 periodic solution or order-2 periodic solution. At the same time, we also give the complete expression of the period of the positive period-1 solution. Finally, discussions and numerical simulations are given.  相似文献

In this paper, by using the integral bifurcation method, we study a generalized KdV equation which was first derived by Fokas from physical considerations via a methodology of Fuchssteiner. All kinds of soliton-like or kink-like wave solutions and periodic wave solutions with loop or without loop are obtained. Smooth compacton-like periodic wave solution and non-smooth periodic cusp wave solution are also obtained. Their dynamic properties are investigated and their profiles are given by Mathematical software.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with a class of periodic degenerate parabolic system with time delays in a bounded domain under mixed boundary condition. Under locally Lipschitz condition on reaction functions, we apply Schauder fixed point theorem to obtain the existence of periodic solutions of the periodic problem. With quasi-monotonicity in addition, we also show that the periodic problem has a maximal and a minimal periodic solutions. Applications of the obtained results are also given to some nonlinear diffusion models arising from ecology.  相似文献

In this paper, we studied a non-autonomous predator-prey system with discrete time-delay, where there is epidemic disease in the predator. By using some techniques of the differential inequalities and delay differential inequalities, we proved that the system is permanent under some appropriate conditions. When all the coefficients of the system is periodic, we obtained the existence and global attractivity of the positive periodic solution by Mawhin’s continuation theorem and constructing a suitable Lyapunov functional. Furthermore, when the coefficients of the system are not absolutely periodic but almost periodic, sufficient conditions are also derived for the existence and asymptotic stability of the almost periodic solution.  相似文献

We deal with two-dimensional compressible potential subsonic flows in an infinitely long duct with periodic walls. It is shown that there exists a critical value of mass flux: If the incoming mass flux is less than the critical value, then the flow is also periodic. 本文通过生物控制和化学控制提出了具有周期脉冲效应与害虫控制的捕食系统. 系统保护天敌避免灭绝,在一些条件下可以使害虫灭绝.就是说当脉冲周期小于某一临界值时,存在全局稳定害虫灭绝周期解.脉冲周期增大大于临界值时,平凡害虫灭绝周期解失去稳定性并产生正周期解,利用分支理论来研究正周期解的存在性.进而,利用李雅普诺夫函数和比较定理确定了持续生存的条件.  相似文献

In this paper,we discuss a simplified model of mitosis in frog eggs proposed by M.T. Borisuk and J.J. Tyson in [1]. By using rigorous qualitative analysis, we prove the existence of the periodic solutions on a large scale and present the space region of the periodic solutions and the parameter region coresponding to the periodic solution. We also present the space region and the parameter region where there are no periodic solutions. The results are in accordance with the numerical results in [1] up to the qualitative property.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with a doubly degenerate parabolic equation with logistic periodic sources. We are interested in the discussion of the asymptotic behavior of solutions of the initial-boundary value problem. In this paper, we first establish the existence of non-trivial nonnegative periodic solutions by a monotonicity method. Then by using the Moser iterative method, we obtain an a priori upper bound of the nonnegative periodic solutions, by means of which we show the existence of the maximum periodic solution and asymptotic bounds of the nonnegative solutions of the initial-boundary value problem. We also prove that the support of the non-trivial nonnegative periodic solution is independent of time.  相似文献

在应用边界元方法求解Helmholtz方程周期边值问题时,需要构造以周期Green函数或其偏导数为核函数的积分算子形式的解.由于Helmholtz方程的周期Green函数G~P是一个函数项级数,该级数的通项是Hankel函数,在数值求解中,需要对其进行截断,从而很有必要研究其截断误差.本文根据Hankel函数在变量趋于无穷大时的渐近展开式,并结合Abel不等式,证明了G~P及其一阶偏导和二阶混合偏导一致收敛,且其截断误差收敛阶均为O(1/p~(1/2)).最后,通过数值实验验证了理论证明的正确性.本文的证明方法也可被用于证明其它一些方程周期Green函数的收敛性问题.  相似文献

This paper deals with entire solutions of periodic lattice dynamical systems. Unlike homogeneous problems, the periodic equation studied here lacks symmetry between increasing and decreasing pulsating traveling fronts, which affects the construction of entire solutions. In the bistable case, the existence, uniqueness and Liapunov stability of entire solutions are proved by constructing different sub- and supersolutions. In the monostable case, the existence and asymptotic behavior of spatially periodic solutions connecting two steady states are first established. Some new types of entire solutions are then constructed by combining leftward and rightward pulsating traveling fronts with different speeds and a spatially periodic solution. Various qualitative features of the entire solutions are also investigated.  相似文献

In this paper, we study dynamics of a prey-predator system under the impulsive control. Sufficient conditions of the existence and the stability of semi-trivial periodic solutions are obtained by using the analogue of the Poincaré criterion. It is shown that the positive periodic solution bifurcates from the semi-trivial periodic solution through a transcritical bifurcation. A strategy of impulsive state feedback control is suggested to ensure the persistence of two species. Furthermore, a steady positive period-2 solution bifurcates from the positive periodic solution by the flip bifurcation, and the chaotic solution is generated via a cascade of flip bifurcations. Numerical simulations are also illustrated which agree well with our theoretical analysis.  相似文献

Due to its good potential for digital signal processing, discrete Gabor analysis has interested some mathematicians. This paper addresses Gabor systems on discrete periodic sets, which can model signals to appear periodically but intermittently. Complete Gabor systems and Gabor frames on discrete periodic sets are characterized; a sufficient and necessary condition on what periodic sets admit complete Gabor systems is obtained; this condition is also proved to be sufficient and necessary for the existence of sets E such that the Gabor systems generated by χ E are tight frames on these periodic sets; our proof is constructive, and all tight frames of the above form with a special frame bound can be obtained by our method; periodic sets admitting Gabor Riesz bases are characterized; some examples are also provided to illustrate the general theory.
