Let K be a compact convex subset of a separated locally convex space (over R) and let Ap(K) denote the space of all continuous real-valued affine mappings defined on K, endowed with the topology of pointwise convergence on the extreme points of K. In this paper we shall examine some topological properties of Ap(K). For example, we shall consider when Ap(K) is monolithic and when separable compact subsets of Ap(K) are metrizable.  相似文献

We consider the following problem: given a set X and a function , does there exist a compact Hausdorff topology on X which makes T continuous? We characterize such functions in terms of their orbit structure. Given the generality of the problem, the characterization turns out to be surprisingly simple and elegant. Amongst other results, we also characterize homeomorphisms on compact metric spaces.  相似文献

In this paper we use tools from topology and dynamical systems to analyze the structure of solutions to implicitly defined equations that arise in economic theory, specifically in the study of so-called “backward dynamics”. For this purpose we use inverse limit spaces and shift homeomorphisms to describe solutions which are typical in that they are likely to be observed in future time. These predicted solutions corresponds to attractors in an inverse limit space under the shift homeomorphism(s).  相似文献

Let T be a tent map with the slope strictly between and 2. Suppose that the critical point of T is not recurrent. Let K denote the inverse limit space obtained by using T repeatedly as the bonding map. We prove that every homeomorphism of K to itself is isotopic to some power of the natural shift homeomorphism.  相似文献

It is well known that if (X,q) is an asymmetric normed linear space, then the function qs defined on X by qs(x)=max{q(x),q(−x)}, is a norm on the linear space X. However, the lack of symmetry in the definition of the asymmetric norm q yields an algebraic asymmetry in the dual space of (X,q). This fact establishes a significant difference with the standard results on duality that hold in the case of locally convex spaces. In this paper we study some aspects of a reflexivity theory in the setting of asymmetric normed linear spaces. In particular, we obtain a version of the Goldstine Theorem to these spaces which is applied to prove, among other results, a characterization of reflexive asymmetric normed linear spaces.  相似文献

Let X be a topological space, f:XX be a continuous map, and Y be a compact, connected and closed subset of X. In this paper we show that, if the boundary XY contains exactly one point v and f(v)∈Y, then Y contains a minimal set of f.  相似文献

A wandering set for a map ϕ is a set containing precisely one element from each orbit of ϕ. We study the existence of Borel wandering sets for piecewise linear isomorphisms. Such sets need not exist even when the parameters involved are rational, but they do exist if in addition all the slopes are powers of 2. For ϕ having at most one discontinuity, the existence of a Borel wandering set is equivalent to rationality of the Poincaré rotation number. We compute the rotation numbers for a special class of such functions. The main result provides a concrete method of connecting certain pairs of wavelet sets.  相似文献

We consider the inverse limit space (I,f) of a unimodal bonding map f as fixed bonding map. If f has a periodic turning point, then (I,f) has a finite non-empty set of asymptotic arc-components. We show how asymptotic arc-components can be determined from the kneading sequence of f. This gives an alternative to the substitution tiling space approach taken by Barge and Diamond [Ergodic Theory Dynamical Systems 21 (2001) 1333].  相似文献

In this paper we give a topological characterization of ω-limit sets in hereditarily locally connected continua. Moreover, we characterize also orbit-enclosing ω-limit sets in these spaces.  相似文献

In this paper a notion of ω-regular space is raised, which is an extension of that of regular space, and several known results concerning almost periodic points and minimal sets of maps are generalized from regular spaces to ω-regular spaces.  相似文献

The probability measures on compact Hausdorff spaces K form a compact convex subset PK of the space of measures with the vague topology. Every continuous map of compact Hausdorff spaces induces a continuous affine map extending f. Together with the canonical embedding associating to every point its Dirac measure and the barycentric map β associating to every probability measure on PK its barycenter, we obtain a monad (P,ε,β). The Eilenberg-Moore algebras of this monad have been characterised to be the compact convex sets embeddable in locally convex topological vector spaces by Swirszcz [T. Swirszcz, Monadic functors and convexity, Bul. Acad. Polon. Sci. Sér. Sci. Math. Astron. Phys. 22 (1974) 39-42].We generalise this result to compact ordered spaces in the sense of Nachbin [L. Nachbin, Topology and Order, Von Nostrand, Princeton, NJ, 1965. Translated from the 1950 monograph “Topologia e Ordem” (in Portugese). Reprinted by Robert E. Kreiger Publishing Co., Huntington, NY, 1967]. The probability measures form again a compact ordered space when endowed with the stochastic order. The maps ε and β are shown to preserve the stochastic orders. Thus, we obtain a monad over the category of compact ordered spaces and order preserving continuous maps. The algebras of this monad are shown to be the compact convex ordered sets embeddable in locally convex ordered topological vector spaces. This result can be seen as a step towards the characterisation of the algebras of the monad of probability measures on the category of stably compact spaces (see [G. Gierz, K.H. Hofmann, K. Keimel, J.D. Lawson, M. Mislove, D.S. Scott, Continuous Lattices and Domains, Encyclopedia Math. Appl., vol. 93, Cambridge University Press, 2003, Section VI-6]).  相似文献

The concepts of the first type of distributional chaos in the Tan-Xiong sense (Abbrev. DC1 in the Tan-Xiong sense), the second type of strong-distributional chaos (Abbrev. strong DC2) and the third type of strong-distributional chaos (Abbrev. strong DC3) were introduced by Tan et al. [F. Tan, J. Xiong. Chaos via Furstenberg family couple, Topology Appl. (2008), doi:10.1016/j.topol.2008.08.006] for continuous maps of a metric space. However, it turns out that, for continuous maps of a compact metric space, the three mutually nonequivalent versions of distributional chaos can be discussed. Let X be a compact metric space and f:XX a continuous map. In this paper, we show that for any integer N>0, f is strong DC2 (resp. strong DC3) if and only if fN is strong DC2 (resp. strong DC3). We also show that the above three versions of distributional chaos are topological conjugacy invariant. In addition, as an application, we present an example.  相似文献

In previous papers, the notions of “closedness” and “strong closedness” in set-based topological categories were introduced. In this paper, we give the characterization of closed and strongly closed subobjects of an object in the category Prord of preordered sets and show that they form appropriate closure operators which enjoy the basic properties like idempotency (weak) hereditariness, and productivity. We investigate the relationships between these closure operators and the well-known ones, the up- and down-closures. As a consequence, we characterize each of T0, T1, and T2 preordered sets and show that each of the full subcategories of each of T0, T1, T2 preordered sets is quotient-reflective in Prord. Furthermore, we give the characterization of each of pre-Hausdorff preordered sets and zero-dimensional preordered sets, and show that there is an isomorphism of the full subcategory of zero-dimensional preordered sets and the full subcategory of pre-Hausdorff preordered sets. Finally, we show that both of these subcategories are bireflective in Prord.  相似文献

Using the characterization of plain textures in terms of posets given by Mustafa Demirci (M. Demirci, Textures and C-spaces, Fuzzy Sets and Systems 158 (11) (2007) 1237-1245), the authors consider the important class of plain ditopological texture spaces and give several new results.  相似文献

In this paper we show that any graph map without periodic points has only one minimal set. We describe a class of graph maps without periodic points. Our main result is to give a structure theorem of graph maps without periodic points, which states that any graph map without periodic points must be topologically conjugate to one of the described class. In addition, we give some applications of the structure theorem.  相似文献

Let (X,T) be a topological dynamical system and F be a Furstenberg family (a collection of subsets of Z+ with hereditary upward property). A point xX is called an F-transitive one if {nZ+:TnxU}∈F for every non-empty open subset U of X; the system (X,T) is called F-point transitive if there exists some F-transitive point. In this paper, we aim to classify transitive systems by F-point transitivity. Among other things, it is shown that (X,T) is a weakly mixing E-system (resp. weakly mixing M-system, HY-system) if and only if it is {D-sets}-point transitive (resp. {central sets}-point transitive, {weakly thick sets}-point transitive). It is shown that every weakly mixing system is Fip-point transitive, while we construct an Fip-point transitive system which is not weakly mixing. As applications, we show that every transitive system with dense small periodic sets is disjoint from every totally minimal system and a system is Δ?(Fwt)-transitive if and only if it is weakly disjoint from every P-system.  相似文献

A group G?Sym(N) is cofinitary if g has finitely many fixed points for every gG except the identity element. In this paper, we discuss the definability of maximal cofinitary groups and some related structures. More precisely, we show the following two results:
(1)
Assuming V=L, there is a set of permutations on N which generates a maximal cofinitary group.
(2)
Assuming V=L, there is a mad permutation family in Sym(N).

Given a unimodal map f, let I=[c2,c1] denote the core and set E={(x0,x1,…)∈(I,f)|xiω(c,f) for all iN}. It is known that there exist strange adding machines embedded in symmetric tent maps f such that the collection of endpoints of (I,f) is a proper subset of E and such that limk→∞Q(k)≠∞, where Q(k) is the kneading map.We use the partition structure of an adding machine to provide a sufficient condition for x to be an endpoint of (I,f) in the case of an embedded adding machine. We then show there exist strange adding machines embedded in symmetric tent maps for which the collection of endpoints of (I,f) is precisely E. Examples of this behavior are provided where limk→∞Q(k) does and does not equal infinity, and in the case where limk→∞Q(k)=∞, the collection of endpoints of (I,f) is always E.  相似文献

We obtain two sufficient conditions for an interval self-map to have a chaotic set with positive Hausdorff dimension. Furthermore, we point out that for any interval Lipschitz maps with positive topological entropy there is a chaotic set with positive Hausdorff dimension.  相似文献
