We provide a new proof for the global well-posedness of systems coupling fluids and polymers in two space dimensions. Compared to the well-known existing method based on the losing a priori estimates, our method is more direct and much simpler. The co-rotational FENE dumbbell model and the coupling Smoluchowski and Navier-Stokes equations are studied as examples to illustrate our main ideas.  相似文献

A well-known diffuse interface model for incompressible isothermal mixtures of two immiscible fluids consists of the Navier–Stokes system coupled with a convective Cahn–Hilliard equation. In some recent contributions the standard Cahn–Hilliard equation has been replaced by its nonlocal version. The corresponding system is physically more relevant and mathematically more challenging. Indeed, the only known results are essentially the existence of a global weak solution and the existence of a suitable notion of global attractor for the corresponding dynamical system defined without uniqueness. In fact, even in the two-dimensional case, uniqueness of weak solutions is still an open problem. Here we take a step forward in the case of regular potentials. First we prove the existence of a (unique) strong solution in two dimensions. Then we show that any weak solution regularizes in finite time uniformly with respect to bounded sets of initial data. This result allows us to deduce that the global attractor is the union of all the bounded complete trajectories which are strong solutions. We also demonstrate that each trajectory converges to a single equilibrium, provided that the potential is real analytic and the external forces vanish.  相似文献

We establish global existence and uniqueness theorems for the two-dimensional non-diffusive Boussinesq system with anisotropic viscosity acting only in the horizontal direction, which arises in ocean dynamics models. Global well-posedness for this system was proven by Danchin and Paicu; however, an additional smoothness assumption on the initial density was needed to prove uniqueness. They stated that it is not clear whether uniqueness holds without this additional assumption. The present work resolves this question and we establish uniqueness without this additional assumption. Furthermore, the proof provided here is more elementary; we use only tools available in the standard theory of Sobolev spaces, and without resorting to para-product calculus. We use a new approach by defining an auxiliary “stream-function” associated with the density, analogous to the stream-function associated with the vorticity in 2D incompressible Euler equations, then we adapt some of the ideas of Yudovich for proving uniqueness for 2D Euler equations.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove the global in time regularity for the 2D Boussinesq system with either the zero diffusivity or the zero viscosity. We also prove that as diffusivity (viscosity) tends to zero, the solutions of the fully viscous equations converge strongly to those of zero diffusion (viscosity) equations. Our result for the zero diffusion system, in particular, solves the Problem no. 3 posed by Moffatt in [R.L. Ricca, (Ed.), Kluwer Academic Publishers, Dordrecht, The Netherlands, 2001, pp. 3-10].  相似文献

We prove regularity criteria for the 3D generalized MHD equations. These criteria impose assumptions on the vorticity only. In addition, we also prove a result of global existence for smooth solution under some special conditions.  相似文献

We introduce Triebel-Lizorkin-Lorentz function spaces, based on the Lorentz Lp,q-spaces instead of the standard Lp-spaces, and prove a local-in-time unique existence and a blow-up criterion of solutions in those spaces for the Euler equations of inviscid incompressible fluid in Rn,n≥2. As a corollary we obtain global existence of solutions to the 2D Euler equations in the Triebel-Lizorkin-Lorentz space. For the proof, we establish the Beale-Kato-Majda type logarithmic inequality and commutator estimates in our spaces. The key methods of proof used are the Littlewood-Paley decomposition and the paradifferential calculus by J.M. Bony.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the Yudovich type solution of the 2D inviscid Boussinesq system with critical and supercritical dissipation. For the critical case, we show that the system admits a global and unique Yudovich type solution; for the supercritical case, we prove the local and unique existence of Yudovich type solution, and the global result under a smallness condition of θ0θ0. We also give a refined blowup criterion in the supercritical case.  相似文献

In this paper, we are concerned with the global wellposedness of 2-D density-dependent incompressible Navier–Stokes equations (1.1) with variable viscosity, in a critical functional framework which is invariant by the scaling of the equations and under a nonlinear smallness condition on fluctuation of the initial density which has to be doubly exponential small compared with the size of the initial velocity. In the second part of the paper, we apply our methods combined with the techniques in Danchin and Mucha (2012) [10] to prove the global existence of solutions to (1.1) with constant viscosity and with piecewise constant initial density which has small jump at the interface and is away from vacuum. In particular, this latter result removes the smallness condition for the initial velocity in a corresponding theorem of Danchin and Mucha (2012) [10].  相似文献

In this paper, we establish the global existence and uniqueness of solutions to the inhomogeneous Navier–Stokes system in the half-space. The initial density only has to be bounded and close enough to a positive constant, the initial velocity belongs to some critical Besov space, and the LL norm of the inhomogeneity plus the critical norm to the horizontal components of the initial velocity has to be very small compared to the exponential of the norm to the vertical component of the initial velocity. With a little bit more regularity for the initial velocity, those solutions are proved to be unique. In the last section of the paper, our results are partially extended to the bounded domain case.  相似文献

We study existence of global in time solutions to the Navier–Stokes equations in a two dimensional domain with an unbounded boundary. The problem is considered with slip boundary conditions involving nonzero friction. The main result shows a new L-bound on the vorticity. A key element of the proof is the maximum principle for a reformulation of the problem. Under some restrictions on the curvature of the boundary and the friction the result for large data (including flux) with the infinite Dirichlet integral is obtained.Received: October 31, 2002; revised: September 17, 2003  相似文献

We investigate the stability of two‐dimensional periodic solutions to magnetohydrodynamics equations in the class of three‐dimensional periodic solutions. We show the existence of global, strong three‐dimensional solutions to magnetohydrodynamics equations, which are close to two‐dimensional solutions. The advantage of our approach is that neither these solutions nor the external forces have to vanish at infinity. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Global existence of weak solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations in a cylindrical domain under boundary slip conditions and with inflow and outflow is proved. To prove the energy estimate, crucial for the proof, we use the Hopf function. This makes it possible to derive an estimate such that the inflow and outflow need not vanish as t→∞. The proof requires estimates in weighted Sobolev spaces for solutions to the Poisson equation. Our result is the first step towards proving the existence of global regular special solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations with inflow and outflow.  相似文献

We study the dynamics along the particle trajectories for the 3D axisymmetric Euler equations. In particular, by rewriting the system of equations we find that there exists a complex Riccati type of structure in the system on the whole of R3, which generalizes substantially the previous results in [5] (D. Chae, On the blow-up problem for the axisymmetric 3D Euler equations, Nonlinearity 21 (2008) 2053-2060). Using this structure of equations, we deduce the new blow-up criterion that the radial increment of pressure is not consistent with the global regularity of classical solution. We also derive a much more refined version of the Lagrangian dynamics than that of [6] (D. Chae, On the Lagrangian dynamics for the 3D incompressible Euler equations, Comm. Math. Phys. 269 (2) (2007) 557-569) in the case of axisymmetry.  相似文献

This paper aims at the global regularity of classical solutions to the 2D Boussinesq equations with vertical dissipation and vertical thermal diffusion. We prove that the Lr-norm of the vertical velocity v for any 1<r<∞ is globally bounded and that the L-norm of v controls any possible breakdown of classical solutions. In addition, we show that an extra thermal diffusion given by the fractional Laplace δ(−Δ) for δ>0 would guarantee the global regularity of classical solutions.  相似文献

We establish the existence of local in time semi‐strong solutions and global in time strong solutions for the system of equations describing flows of viscous and incompressible asymmetric fluids with variable density in general three‐dimensional domains with boundary uniformly of class C3. Under suitable assumptions, uniqueness of local semi‐strong solutions is also proved. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We study the existence of weak solutions for stationary viscous fluids with general slip boundary conditions in this paper. Applying monotone operator theory, we first establish the existence result of weak solutions for an approximation problem. Then using the compactness methods and the point-wise convergence property of velocity gradients, we get the desired results.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the free boundary problem for a simplified version of Ericksen–Leslie equations modeling the compressible hydrodynamic flow of nematic liquid crystals in dimension one. We obtain both existence and uniqueness of global classical solutions provided that the initial density is away from vacuum.  相似文献

This paper studies the pullback asymptotic behavior of solutions for a non-autonomous incompressible non-Newtonian fluid in two-dimensional (2D) bounded domains. We first prove the existence of pullback attractors AV in space V (has H2-regularity, see notation in Section 2) and AH in space H (has L2-regularity) for the cocycle corresponding to the solutions of the fluid. Then we verify the regularity of the pullback attractors by showing AV=AH, which implies the pullback asymptotic smoothing effect of the fluid in the sense that the solutions become eventually more regular than the initial data.  相似文献
