Reaction-diffusion systems of activator-inhibitor type are studied on an N-dimensional ball with the homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. Under the condition that the activator diffuses slowly, reacts rapidly and the inhibitor diffuses rapidly, reacts moderately, we show that the system admits a family of spherically symmetric internal transition layer equilibria. The method of proof consists of rigorous asymptotic expansions and a Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction.  相似文献

We consider a model problem for the secular growth, which covers all the cases likely to happen in multi-scales BKW expansions for nonlinear hyperbolic systems. This model problem consists in studying the growth in time of the solution of a nonhomogeneous hyperbolic system whose source term is a product of various functions which solve homogeneous hyperbolic systems. The secular growth is due to resonances, that we try to control. When this is not possible, other tools such as decay properties or Strichartz estimates must be used.  相似文献

We investigate quasilinear systems of parabolic partial differential equations with fully nonlinear boundary conditions on bounded or exterior domains in the setting of Sobolev–Slobodetskii spaces. We establish local wellposedness and study the time and space regularity of the solutions. Our main results concern the asymptotic behavior of the solutions in the vicinity of a hyperbolic equilibrium. In particular, the local stable and unstable manifolds are constructed. Liouville-type theorems are powerful tools in partial differential equations. Boundedness assumptions of solutions are often imposed in deriving such Liouville-type theorems. In this paper, we establish some Liouville-type theorems without the boundedness assumption of nonnegative solutions to certain classes of elliptic equations and systems. Using a rescaling technique and doubling lemma developed recently in Polá?ik et al. (2007) [20], we improve several Liouville-type theorems in higher order elliptic equations, some semilinear equations and elliptic systems. More specifically, we remove the boundedness assumption of the solutions which is required in the proofs of the corresponding Liouville-type theorems in the recent literature. Moreover, we also investigate the singularity and decay estimates of higher order elliptic equations.  相似文献

The paper is devoted to partial Hölder estimates for weak solutions of a class of degenerate subelliptic systems constructed by Hörmander’s vector fields. Assumptions on the systems are that coefficient matrix satisfies VMO condition in the sense of Carnot-Carathéodory distance in variables x for fixed u, and lower order terms satisfy the natural growth condition and the controllable growth condition, respectively.  相似文献

The main purpose of this paper is to show, in the two-dimensional torus, a necessary and sufficient condition in order to certain perturbations of zero order of a system of constant real vector fields to be globally s-solvable. We are also interested in studying its global s-hypoellipticity. We present connections between these global concepts and a priori estimates. Extending previous results of Oh-Zumbrun and Johnson-Zumbrun, we show that spectral stability implies linearized and nonlinear stability of spatially periodic traveling wave solutions of viscous systems of conservation laws for systems of generic type, removing a restrictive assumption that wave speed be constant to first order along the manifold of nearby periodic solutions. Key to our analysis is a nonlinear cancellation estimate observed by Johnson and Zumbrun, along with a detailed understanding of the Whitham averaged system. The latter motivates a careful analysis of the Bloch perturbation expansion near zero frequency and suggests factoring out an appropriate translational modulation of the underlying wave, allowing us to derive the sharpened low-frequency estimates needed to close the nonlinear iteration arguments.  相似文献

We consider the semistrong limit of pulse interaction in a thermally driven, parametrically forced, nonlinear Schrödinger (TDNLS) system modeling pulse interaction in an optical cavity. The TDNLS couples a parabolic equation to a hyperbolic system, and in the semistrong scaling we construct pulse solutions which experience both short-range, tail-tail interactions and long-range thermal coupling. We extend the renormalization group (RG) methods used to derive semistrong interaction laws in reaction-diffusion systems to the hyperbolic-parabolic setting of the TDNLS system. A key step is to capture the singularly perturbed structure of the semigroup through the control of the commutator of the resolvent and a re-scaling operator. The RG approach reduces the pulse dynamics to a closed system of ordinary differential equations for the pulse locations.  相似文献

In this paper, the author establishes the existence of positive entire solutions to a general class of semilinear poly-harmonic systems, which includes equations and systems of the weighted Hardy–Littlewood–Sobolev type. The novel method used implements the classical shooting method enhanced by topological degree theory. The key steps of the method are to first construct a target map which aims the shooting method and the non-degeneracy conditions guarantee the continuity of this map. With the continuity of the target map, a topological argument is used to show the existence of zeros of the target map. The existence of zeros of the map along with a non-existence theorem for the corresponding Navier boundary value problem imply the existence of positive solutions for the class of poly-harmonic systems.  相似文献

We prove that some conditions are sufficient for regions to be invariant with respect to strongly coupled quasilinear parabolic systems indivergence form. This result can be applied to certain two population systems where we can compute the boundaries of the invariant regions by solving ordinary differential equations. We investigate the flow of a magneto-micropolar fluid in an arbitrary unbounded domain on which the Poincaré inequality holds. Assuming homogeneous boundary conditions and the external fields to be almost periodic in time we prove the existence of the uniform attractor by using the energy method [10] which we generalize to nonautonomous systems. We consider the problem in an abstract setting that allows to include also other hydrodynamical models. In particular, we extend the result of R. Rosa [12] from autonomous to nonautonomous Navier-Stokes equations in unbounded domains.  相似文献

We suppose the coefficients of the system to satisfy only a VMO condition with respect to the space variable. We partially solve a well-known conjecture about the nonexistence of positive entire solutions to elliptic systems of Lane-Emden type when the pair of exponents lies below the critical Sobolev hyperbola. Up to now, the conjecture had been proved for radial solutions, or in n?3 space dimensions, or in certain subregions below the critical hyperbola for n?4. We here establish the conjecture in four space dimensions and we obtain a new region of nonexistence for n?5. Our proof is based on a delicate combination involving Rellich-Pohozaev type identities, a comparison property between components via the maximum principle, Sobolev and interpolation inequalities on Sn−1, and feedback and measure arguments. Such Liouville-type nonexistence results have many applications in the study of nonvariational elliptic systems.  相似文献

The dynamics of infinite-dimensional lattice systems is studied. A necessary and sufficient condition for asymptotic compactness of lattice dynamical systems is introduced. It is shown that a lattice system has a global attractor if and only if it has a bounded absorbing set and is asymptotically null. As an application, it is proved that the lattice reaction-diffusion equation has a global attractor in a weighted l2 space, which is compact as well as contains traveling waves. The upper semicontinuity of global attractors is also obtained when the lattice reaction-diffusion equation is approached by finite-dimensional systems.  相似文献

We consider a reaction-diffusion system with general time-delayed growth rate and kernel functions. The existence and stability of the positive spatially nonhomogeneous steady-state solution are obtained. Moreover, taking minimal time delay τ as the bifurcation parameter, Hopf bifurcation near the steady-state solution is proved to occur at a critical value τ=τ0. Especially, the Hopf bifurcation is forward and the bifurcated periodic solutions are stable on the center manifold. The general results are applied to competitive and cooperative systems with weak or strong kernel function respectively.  相似文献

For the study of the various stabilities in multi-valued dynamical systems, we obtain some necessary and sufficient conditions of the notions of stability and Lyapunov stability, and investigate the connection between the concepts of attractions and the suitable versions of limit sets. Also we consider the notion of characteristic 0+ in multi-valued dynamical systems and obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the concept of characteristic 0+.  相似文献
