This is the second part of the work devoted to the study of maps with decay in lattices. Here we apply the general theory developed in Fontich et al. (2011) [3] to the study of hyperbolic sets. In particular, we establish that any close enough perturbation with decay of an uncoupled lattice map with a hyperbolic set has also a hyperbolic set, with dynamics on the hyperbolic set conjugated to the corresponding of the uncoupled map. We also describe how the decay properties of the maps are inherited by the corresponding invariant manifolds.  相似文献

We obtain real analytic invariant manifolds for trajectories of maps assuming only the existence of a nonuniform exponential behavior. We also consider the more general case of sequences of maps, which corresponds to a nonautonomous dynamics with discrete time. We emphasize that the maps that we consider are defined in a real Euclidean space, and thus, one is not able to obtain the invariant manifolds from a corresponding procedure to that in the nonuniform hyperbolicity theory in the context of holomorphic dynamics. We establish the existence both of stable (and unstable) manifolds and of center manifolds. As a byproduct of our approach we obtain an exponential control not only for the trajectories on the invariant manifolds, but also for all their derivatives.  相似文献

We obtain global and local theorems on the existence of invariant manifolds for perturbations of nonautonomous linear differential equations assuming a very general form of dichotomic behavior for the linear equation. Besides some new situations that are far from the hyperbolic setting, our results include, and sometimes improve, some known stable manifold theorems.  相似文献

We describe a method to establish existence and regularity of invariant manifolds and, at the same time to find simple maps which are conjugated to the dynamics on them. The method establishes several invariant manifold theorems. For instance, it reduces the proof of the usual stable manifold theorem near hyperbolic points to an application of the implicit function theorem in Banach spaces. We also present several other applications of the method.  相似文献

We study several properties of invariant measures obtained from preimages, for non-invertible maps on fractal sets which model non-reversible dynamical systems. We give two ways to describe the distribution of all preimages for endomorphisms which are not necessarily expanding on a basic set Λ. We give a topological dynamics condition which guarantees that the corresponding measures converge to a unique conformal ergodic borelian measure; this helps in estimating the unstable dimension a.e. with respect to this measure with the help of Lyapunov exponents. When there exist negative Lyapunov exponents of this limit measure, we study the conditional probabilities induced on the non-uniform local stable manifolds by the limit measure, and also its pointwise dimension on stable manifolds.  相似文献

We consider periodic perturbations of conservative systems. The unperturbed systems are assumed to have two nonhyperbolic equilibria connected by a heteroclinic orbit on each level set of conservative quantities. These equilibria construct two normally hyperbolic invariant manifolds in the unperturbed phase space, and by invariant manifold theory there exist two normally hyperbolic, locally invariant manifolds in the perturbed phase space. We extend Melnikov’s method to give a condition under which the stable and unstable manifolds of these locally invariant manifolds intersect transversely. Moreover, when the locally invariant manifolds consist of nonhyperbolic periodic orbits, we show that there can exist heteroclinic orbits connecting periodic orbits near the unperturbed equilibria on distinct level sets. This behavior can occur even when the two unperturbed equilibria on each level set coincide and have a homoclinic orbit. In addition, it yields transition motions between neighborhoods of very distant periodic orbits, which are similar to Arnold diffusion for three or more degree of freedom Hamiltonian systems possessing a sequence of heteroclinic orbits to invariant tori, if there exists a sequence of heteroclinic orbits connecting periodic orbits successively. We illustrate our theory for rotational motions of a periodically forced rigid body. Numerical computations to support the theoretical results are also given.  相似文献

We consider non-uniformly expanding maps on compact Riemannian manifolds of arbitrary dimension, possibly having discontinuities and/or critical sets, and show that under some general conditions they admit an induced Markov tower structure. Moreover, the decay of the return time function can be controlled in terms of the time generic points need to achieve some uniform expanding behavior. As a consequence we obtain some rates for the decay of correlations of those maps and conditions for the validity of the Central Limit Theorem.  相似文献

In this paper we consider lattice systems coupled by local interactions. We prove invariant manifold theorems for whiskered tori (we recall that whiskered tori are quasi-periodic solutions with exponentially contracting and expanding directions in the linearized system). The invariant manifolds we construct generalize the usual (strong) (un)stable manifolds and allow us to consider also non-resonant manifolds. We show that if the whiskered tori are localized near a collection of specific sites, then so are the invariant manifolds. We recall that the existence of localized whiskered tori has recently been proven for symplectic maps and flows in Fontich et al. (J Diff Equ, 2012), but our results do not need that the systems are symplectic. For simplicity we will present first the main results for maps, but we will show that the result for maps imply the results for flows. It is also true that the results for flows can be proved directly following the same ideas.  相似文献

We establish the existence of invariant stable manifolds for C 1 perturbations of a nonuniform exponential dichotomy with an arbitrary nonuniform part. We consider the general case of sequences of maps, which corresponds to a nonautonomous dynamics with discrete time. We also obtain optimal estimates for the decay of trajectories along the stable manifolds. The optimal C 1 smoothness of the invariant manifolds is obtained using an invariant family of cones.  相似文献

For a linear evolution family with a nonuniformly hyperbolic behavior, we give simple proofs of the existence of topological conjugacies and stable invariant manifolds under sufficiently small perturbations. The proofs are obtained via evolution semigroups, which allows us to pass from the original nonautonomous nonuni-formly hyperbolic dynamics to one that is autonomous and uniformly hyperbolic.  相似文献

We develop and implement a semi-numerical method for computing high-order Taylor approximations of unstable manifolds for hyperbolic fixed points of compact infinite-dimensional maps. The method can follow folds in the embedding and describes precisely the dynamics on the manifold. In order to ensure the accuracy of our computations in spite of the many truncation and round-off errors, we develop a posteriori error bounds for the approximations. Deliberate control of round-off errors (using interval arithmetic) in conjunction with explicit analytical estimates leads to mathematically rigorous computer-assisted theorems describing precisely the truncation errors for our approximation of the invariant manifold. The method is applied to the Kot-Schaffer model of population dynamics with spatial dispersion.  相似文献

We study the hyperbolic dynamics of three-dimensional quadratic maps with constant Jacobian the inverse of which are again quadratic maps (the so-called 3D Hénon maps). We consider two classes of such maps having applications to the nonlinear dynamics and find certain sufficient conditions under which the maps possess hyperbolic nonwandering sets topologically conjugating to the Smale horseshoe. We apply the so-called Shilnikov’s cross-map for proving the existence of the horseshoes and show the existence of horseshoes of various types: (2,1)- and (1,2)-horseshoes (where the first (second) index denotes the dimension of stable (unstable) manifolds of horseshoe orbits) as well as horseshoes of saddle and saddle-focus types.  相似文献

Chaotic invariant sets for planar maps typically contain periodic orbits whose stable and unstable manifolds cross in grid-like fashion. Consider the rotation of orbits around a central fixed point. The intersections of the invariant manifolds of two periodic points with distinct rotation numbers can imply complicated rotational behavior. We show, in particular, that when the unstable manifold of one of these periodic points crosses the stable manifold of the other, and, similarly, the unstable manifold of the second crosses the stable manifold of the first, so that the segments of these invariant manifolds form a topological rectangle, then all rotation numbers between those of the two given orbits are represented. The result follows from a horseshoe-like construction.

Knowledge about stable and unstable manifolds of hyperbolic fixed points of certain maps is desirable in many fields of research, both in pure mathematics as well as in applications, ranging from forced oscillations to celestial mechanics and space mission design. We present a technique to find highly accurate polynomial approximations of local invariant manifolds for sufficiently smooth planar maps and rigorously enclose them with sharp interval remainder bounds using Taylor model techniques. Iteratively, significant portions of the global manifold tangle can be enclosed with high accuracy. Numerical examples are provided.  相似文献

We consider the existence, uniqueness and convergence for the long time solution to the harmonic map heat equation between two complete noncompact Riemannian manifolds, where the target manifold is assumed to have nonpositive curvature. As an application, we solve the Dirichlet problem at infinity for proper harmonic maps between two hyperbolic manifolds for a class of boundary maps. The boundary map under consideration has finite many points at which either it is not differentiable or has vanishing energy density.  相似文献

This paper focuses on nonlinear perturbations of flows in Banach spaces, corresponding to a nonautonomous dynamical system on measure chains admitting a nonuniform exponential dichotomy. We first define the nonuniform exponential dichotomy of linear nonuniformly hyperbolic systems on measure chains, then establish a new version of the Grobman-Hartman theorem for nonuniformly hyperbolic dynamics on measure chains with the help of nonuniform exponential dichotomies. Moreover, we also construct stable invariant manifolds for sufficiently small nonlinear perturbations of a nonuniform exponential dichotomy. In particular, it is shown that the stable invariant manifolds are Lipschitz in the initial values provided that the nonlinear perturbation is a sufficiently small Lipschitz perturbation.  相似文献

We prove that under certain stability and smoothing properties of the semi-groups generated by the partial differential equations that we consider, manifolds left invariant by these flows persist under C 1 perturbation. In particular, we extend well-known finite-dimensional results to the setting of an infinite-dimensional Hilbert manifold with a semi-group that leaves a submanifold invariant. We then study the persistence of global unstable manifolds of hyperbolic fixed points, and as an application consider the two-dimensional Navier–Stokes equation under a fully discrete approximation. Finally, we apply our theory to the persistence of inertial manifolds for those PDEs that possess them.  相似文献

In this paper, we study variational aspects for harmonic maps from M to several types of flag manifolds and the relationship with the rich Hermitian geometry of these manifolds. We consider maps that are harmonic with respect to any invariant metric on each flag manifold. They are called equiharmonic maps. We survey some recent results for the case where M is a Riemann surface or is one dimensional; i.e., we study equigeodesics on several types of flag manifolds. We also discuss some results concerning Einstein metrics on such manifolds.  相似文献

For sufficiently small perturbations of a nonuniform exponential trichotomy, we establish the existence of $C^k$ invariant center manifolds. We consider the general case of sequences of maps, which corresponds to a nonautonomous dynamics with discrete time. In particular, we obtain optimal estimates for the decay of all derivatives along the trajectories on the center manifolds.  相似文献

We consider an abstract system of coupled nonlinear parabolic-hyperbolic partial differential equations. This system may describe thermoelastic phenomena in a continuum medium. Under some condition we prove the existence of an exponentially attracting invariant manifold for the coupled system and show that this system can be reduce to a single hyperbolic equation with modified nonlinearity.  相似文献
