The problem of hydrate blockage of pipelines in offshore production is becoming ever-increasing severe because oil fields in ever-increasing unusual environments have been brought in production.HCFC-141b and THF were selected as the substitutes to study the flow assurance of the hydrates in pipelines. There are critical hydrate volume concentrations for these two slurries.Hydrate slurries behave like Bingham fluids and have high agglomerating tendency when the hydrate volume concentrations are larger than the critical ones.Based on theological behaviors of these two hydrates,a non-dimensional parameter is proposed through studying the driving forces of agglomeration among hydrate particles, which shows the agglomerating probability of hydrate particles in pipeline and can be used to judge the safety of the pipeline. Moreover,a safe model to judge the safely flow hydrate slurries was presented and verified with the experimental data, which demonstrates that the model is effective to judge whether the pipeline can be run safely or not.  相似文献

Gas hydrates represent an attractive way of storing large quantities of gas such as methane and carbon dioxide, although to date there has been little effort to optimize the storage capacity and to understand the trade‐offs between storage conditions and storage capacity. In this work, we present estimates for gas storage based on the ideal structures, and show how these must be modified given the little data available on hydrate composition. We then examine the hypothesis based on solid‐solution theory for clathrate hydrates as to how storage capacity may be improved for structure II hydrates, and test the hypothesis for a structure II hydrate of THF and methane, paying special attention to the synthetic approach used. Phase equilibrium data are used to map the region of stability of the double hydrate in PT space as a function of the concentration of THF. In situ high‐pressure NMR experiments were used to measure the kinetics of reaction between frozen THF solutions and methane gas, and 13C MAS NMR experiments were used to measure the distribution of the guests over the cage sites. As known from previous work, at high concentrations of THF, methane only occupies the small cages in structure II hydrate, and in accordance with the hypothesis posed, we confirm that methane can be introduced into the large cage of structure II hydrate by lowering the concentration of THF to below 1.0 mol %. We note that in some preparations the cage occupancies appear to fluctuate with time and are not necessarily homogeneous over the sample. Although the tuning mechanism is generally valid, the composition and homogeneity of the product vary with the details of the synthetic procedure. The best results, those obtained from the gas–liquid reaction, are in good agreement with thermodynamic predictions; those obtained for the gas–solid reaction do not agree nearly as well.  相似文献

In this work, a molecular dynamics simulation was conducted to study the microscopic mechanism of how nitrogen bubbles affect the formation of THF hydrates at the molecular level. The results obtained reveal that the nitrogen bubble can promote the formation of THF hydrates. In the system with a nitrogen bubble, more THF-filled cages were generated, and the crystal structure was more orderly. The promotion of nitrogen bubbles on hydrate crystallization comes from the dissolution of nitrogen molecules. Some of dissolved nitrogen molecules can be enclosed in small hydrate cages near the nitrogen bubble, which can serve as stable sites for hydrate crystal growth, resulting in the fact that THF-filled cages connected with N2-filled cages are much more stable and have a long lifetime. The results in this work can help to understand the promotion effect of micro- and nano-air bubbles on the crystallization of THF hydrates.  相似文献

In order to study the thermal properties of new type environment-friendly binary hydrate for cold storage in air-conditioning system, tests have been carried out by DSC comprehensively on the phase-change temperature and fusion heat of TBAB hydrate, THF hydrate, and TBAB–THF hydrate mixture. The results show a good trend that TBAB–THF hydrate has the superiority for more proper phase-change temperature and increased fusion heat. A broader and more developed view is that adding appropriate amount of hydrate with lower phase-change temperature to hydrate with higher one can make the hydrate mixture more suitable for cold storage (especially for 278–281 K); some hydrates with lower phase-change temperature can even make the fusion heat of mixture hydrate increased greatly. Several new environmental working pairs for binary gas hydrates have been listed to help to promote the application.  相似文献

Micro-Raman investigations of mixed gas hydrates   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
We report laser Raman spectroscopic measurements on mixed hydrates (clathrates), with guest molecules tetrahydrofuran (THF) and methane (CH4), at ambient pressure and at temperatures from 175 to 280 K. Gas hydrates were synthesized with different concentrations of THF ranging from 5.88 to 1.46 mol%. In all cases THF molecules occupied the large cages of sII hydrate. The present studies demonstrate formation of sII clathrates with CH4 molecules occupying unfilled cages for concentrations of THF ranging from 5.88 to 2.95 mol%. The Raman spectral signature of hydrates with 1.46 mol% THF are distinctly different; hydrate growth was non-uniform and structural transformation occurred from sII to sI prior to clathrate melting.  相似文献

Because of availability, as well as economical and environmental considerations, natural gas is projected to be the premium fuel of the 21st century. Natural gas production involves risk of the shut down of onshore and offshore operations because of blockage from hydrates formed from coproduced water and hydrate-forming species in natural gas. Industry practice has been usage of thermodynamic inhibitors such as alcohols often in significant amounts, which have undesirable environmental and safety impacts. Thermodynamic inhibitors affect bulk-phase properties and inhibit hydrate formation. An alternative is changing surface properties through usage of polymers and surfactants, effective at 0.5 to 3 weight % of coproduced water. One group of low dosage hydrate inhibitors (LDHI) are kinetic inhibitors, which affect nucleation rate and growth. A second group of LDHI are antiagglomerants, which prevent agglomeration of small hydrate crystallites. Despite great potential, work on hydrate antiagglomeration is very limited. This work centers on the effect of small amounts of alcohol cosurfactant in mixtures of two vastly different antiagglomerants. We use a model oil, water, and tetrahydrofuran as a hydrate-forming species. Results show that alcohol cosurfactants may help with antiagglomeration when traditional antiagglomerants alone are ineffective. Specifically, as low as 0.5 wt. % methanol cosurfactant used in this study is shown to be effective in antiagglomeration. Without the cosurfactant there will be agglomeration independent of the AA concentration. To our knowledge, this is the first report of alcohol cosurfactants in hydrate antiagglomerants. It is also shown that a rhamnolipid biosurfactant is effective down to only 0.5 wt. % in such mixtures, yet a quaternary ammonium chloride salt, i. e., quat, results in hydrate slurries down to 0.01 wt. %. However, biochemical surfactants are less toxic and biodegradable, and thus their use may prove beneficial even if at concentrations higher than chemical surfactants.  相似文献

Near infrared spectroscopy and principal component analysis (PCA) have been used for monitoring interactions between THF hydrates and naphthenic acids and other surface active molecules. The hydrate particles are primarily hydrophilic and are preferably localized in the water phase. Interactions with surface active molecules may hydrophobize the hydrate surface sufficiently to disperse them into a paraffinic n-decane phase. Hydrate particles dispersed into the n-decane give rise to light scattering accompanied by a baseline shift in the NIR spectra. These observations serve as proof of such interactions taking place and may in turn contribute to the understanding of natural transportability in pipelines of hydrates in multiphase flow.  相似文献

The separation of methane and ethane through forming hydrate is a possible choice in natural gas, oil processing, or ethylene producing. The hydrate formation conditions of five groups of (methane + ethane) binary gas mixtures in the presence of 0.06 mole fraction tetrahydrofuran (THF) in water were obtained at temperatures ranging from (277.7 to 288.2) K. In most cases, the presence of THF in water can lower the hydrate formation pressure of (methane + ethane) remarkably. However, when the composition of ethane is as high as 0.832, it is more difficult to form hydrate than without THF system. Phase equilibrium model for hydrates containing THF was developed based on a two-step hydrate formation mechanism. The structure of hydrates formed from (methane + ethane + THF + water) system was also determined by Raman spectroscopy. When THF concentration in initial aqueous solution was only 0.06 mole fraction, the coexistence of structure I hydrate dominated by ethane and structure II hydrate dominated by THF in the hydrate sample was clearly demonstrated by Raman spectroscopic data. On the contrary, only structure II hydrate existed in the hydrate sample formed from (methane + ethane + THF + water) system when THF concentration in initial aqueous solution was increased to 0.10 mole fraction. It indicated that higher THF concentration inhibited the formation of structure I hydrate dominated by ethane and therefore lowered the trapping of ethane in hydrate. It implies a very promising method to increase the separation efficiency of methane and ethane.  相似文献

Wettability of Freon hydrates in crude oil/brine emulsions   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The surface energy of petroleum hydrates is believed to be a key parameter with regard to hydrate morphology and plugging tendency in petroleum production. As of today, the surface energy of natural gas hydrates is unknown, but will depend on the fluids in which they grow. In this work, the wettability of Freon hydrates is evaluated from their behavior in crude oil emulsions. For emulsions stabilized by colloidal particles, the particle wettability is a governing parameter for the emulsion behavior. The transition between continuous and dispersed phases as a function of brine volume in crude oil-brine emulsions containing Freon hydrates has been determined for 12 crude oils. Silica particles are used for comparison. The results show that phase inversion is highly dependent on crude oil properties. Based on the measured points of phase inversion, the wettability of the Freon hydrates generated in each system is evaluated as being oil-wet, intermediate-wet, or water-wet. Generation of oil-wet hydrates correlates with low hydrate plugging tendency. The formation of oil-wet hydrates will prevent agglomeration into large hydrate aggregates and plugs. Hence, it is believed that the method is applicable for differentiating oils with regard to hydrate morphology.  相似文献

The interest in carbon dioxide for enhanced oil recovery is increasing proportional to the decline in naturally driven oil production and also due to the increasing demand for reduced emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Transport of carbon dioxide in offshore pipelines involves high pressure and low temperatures, conditions which may lead to formation of hydrates from residual water dissolved in carbon dioxide and carbon dioxide. The critical question is whether the water at certain temperatures and pressures will drop out as liquid droplets first, and then form hydrates, or alternatively, adsorb on the pipeline surfaces, and subsequently form hydrates heterogeneously. In this work, we used several different basis sets of density functional theory in ab initio calculations to estimate the charge distribution of hematite (the dominating component of rust) crystals. These rust particles were embedded in water and chemical potential for adsorbed water molecules was estimated through thermodynamic integration and compared to similar estimates for water clusters of the same size. While the generated charges were not unique, the use of high order approximations and different basis sets provides a range of likely charge distributions. Values obtained for the chemical potential of water in different surroundings indicated that it would be thermodynamically favorable for water to adsorb on hematite, and that evaluation of potential carbon dioxide hydrate formation conditions and kinetics should be based on this formation mechanism. Depending on the basis set and approximations, the estimated gain for water to adsorb on the hematite surface rather than condense as droplets varied between -1.7 kJ mole(-1) and -3.4 kJ mole(-1). The partial charge distribution on the hematite surface is incompatible with the hydrate structure, and thus hydrates will be unable to attach to the surface. The behavior of water outside the immediate vicinity of hematite (beyond 3-4 diameters) closely resembled that of bulk liquid. This indicates that it will be able to form hydrates with readily available carbon dioxide. Thus hematite may still act as adsorption medium in heterogeneous hydrate formation just a few water diameters away from its surface. Theoretical estimates were compared to experimental measurements of water content in carbon dioxide co-existing with liquid water, adsorbed water and hydrate.  相似文献

Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is one of the most widely used analogues for gas hydrates as well as a commonly used additive for reducing the formation pressure of a given hydrate process. Hydrates are also currently being investigated as storage materials for hydrogen as well as materials for hydrogen separations. Here we present a thermodynamic model, based on the CSMGem framework, that accurately captures the phase behavior of various hydrates containing THF and hydrogen. The model uses previously regressed parameters for components other than THF and H2, and can reproduce hydrate formation conditions for a number of hydrates containing THF and/or hydrogen (simple THF, THF + CH4, THF + N2, THF + CO2, THF + H2, CH4 + H2, C2H6 + H2 and C3H8 + H2). The incorporation of THF and H2 within this model framework will serve as a valuable tool for hydrate scenarios involving either of these components.  相似文献

Many tetrahydrofuran (THF) hydrate properties are similar to those of gas hydrates. In the present work THF hydrate dissociation in four types of porous media is studied. THF solution was cooled to 275.15 K with formation of the hydrate under ambient pressure, and then it dissociated under ambient conditions. THF hydrate dissociation experiments in each porous medium were conducted three times. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was used to obtain images. Decomposition time, THF hydrate saturation and MRI mean intensity (MI) were measured and analyzed. The experimental results showed that the hydrate decomposition time in BZ-4 and BZ-3 was similar and longer than that in BZ-02. In each dissociation process, the hydrate decomposition time of the second and third cycles was shorter than that of the first cycle in BZ-4, BZ-3, and BZ-02. The relationship between THF hydrate saturation and time is almost linear.  相似文献

Natural gas hydrate shell model in gas-slurry pipeline flow   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1       下载免费PDF全文
A hydrate shell model coupled with one-dimensional two-fluid pipe flow model was established to study the flow characteristics of gas-hydrate slurry flow system. The hydrate shell model was developed with kinetic limitations and mass transfer limitations, and it was solved by Euler method. The analysis of influence factors was performed. It was found that the diffusion coefficient was a key parameter in hydrate forming process. Considering the hydrate kinetics model and the contacting area between gas and water, the hydrate shell model was more close to its practical situations.  相似文献

The mechanism by which safranine O (SFO), an ice growth inhibitor, halts the growth of single crystal tetrahydrofuran (THF) clathrate hydrates was explored using microfluidics coupled with cold stages and fluorescence microscopy. THF hydrates grown in SFO solutions exhibited morphology changes and were shaped as truncated octahedrons or hexagons. Fluorescence microscopy and microfluidics demonstrated that SFO binds to the surface of THF hydrates on specific crystal planes. Cryo-TEM experiments of aqueous solutions containing millimolar concentrations of SFO exhibited the formation of bilayered lamellae with an average thickness of 4.2±0.2 nm covering several μm2. Altogether, these results indicate that SFO forms supramolecular lamellae in solution, which might bind to the surface of the hydrate and inhibit further growth. As an ice and hydrate inhibitor, SFO may bind to the surface of these crystals via ordered water molecules near its amine and methyl groups, similar to some antifreeze proteins.  相似文献

常见客体分子对笼型水合物晶格常数的影响   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Natural gas hydrates are considered as ideal alternative energy resources for the future, and the relevant basic and applied research has become more attractive in recent years. The influence of guest molecules on the hydrate crystal lattice parameters is of great significances to the understanding of hydrate structural characteristics, hydrate formation/decomposition mechanisms, and phase stability behaviors. In this study, we test a series of artificial hydrate samples containing different guest molecules (e.g. methane, ethane, propane, iso-butane, carbon dioxide, tetrahydrofuran, methane + 2, 2-dimethylbutane, and methane + methyl cyclohexane) by a low-temperature powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). Results show that PXRD effectively elucidates structural characteristics of the natural gas hydrate samples, including crystal lattice parameters and structure types. The relationships between guest molecule sizes and crystal lattice parameters reveal that different guest molecules have different controlling behaviors on the hydrate types and crystal lattice constants. First, a positive correlation between the lattice constants and the van der Waals diameters of homologous hydrocarbon gases was observed in the single-guest-component hydrates. Small hydrocarbon homologous gases, such as methane and ethane, tended to form sI hydrates, whereas relatively larger molecules, such as propane and iso-butane, generated sⅡ hydrates. The hydrate crystal lattice constants increased with increasing guest molecule size. The types of hydrates composed of oxygen-containing guest molecules (such as CO2 and THF) were also controlled by the van der Waals diameters. However, no positive correlation between the lattice constants and the van der Waals diameters of guest molecules in hydrocarbon hydrates was observed for CO2 hydrate and THF hydrate, probably due to the special interactions between the guest oxygen atoms and hydrate "cages". Furthermore, the influences of the macromolecules and auxiliary small molecules on the lengths of the different crystal axes of the sH hydrates showed inverse trends. Compared to the methane + 2, 2-dimethylbutane hydrate sample, the length of the a-axis direction of the methane + methyl cyclohexane hydrate sample was slightly smaller, whereas the length of the c-axis direction was slightly longer. The crystal a-axis length of the sH hydrate sample formed with nitrogen molecules was slightly longer, whereas the c-axis was shorter than that of the methane + 2, 2-dimethylbutane hydrate sample at the same temperature.  相似文献

The hydrogen storage capacity of binary THF-H(2) clathrate hydrate has been determined as a function of formation pressure, THF composition, and time. The amount of hydrogen stored in the stoichiometric hydrate increases with pressure and exhibits asymptotic (Langmuir) behavior to approximately 1.0 wt % H(2). This hydrogen concentration corresponds to one hydrogen molecule occupying each of the small 5(12) cavities and one THF molecule in each large 5(12)6(4) cavity in the hydrate framework. Contrary to previous reports, hydrogen storage was not increased upon decreasing the THF concentration below the stoichiometric 5.6 mol % solution to 0.5 mol %, at constant pressure, even after one week. This provides strong evidence that THF preferentially occupies the large 5(12)6(4) cavity over hydrogen, for the range of experimental conditions tested. The maximum amount of hydrogen stored in this binary hydrate was about 1.0 wt % at moderate pressure (<60 MPa) and is independent of the initial THF concentration over the range of conditions tested.  相似文献

Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) has been well known as a promoter for the formation of hydrates. However, the use of SDS to enhance the formation of CO2 hydrates has not been effective. This work will present an idea of competitive adsorption that will provide insights into the nonpromoting effect of SDS under high carbonate concentrations. The competitive adsorption is studied between DS? monomers and carbonate ions on tetrahydrofuran (THF) hydrates. The adsorption is qualitatively investigated by using pyrene fluorescence measurements. The SDS concentration at which hydrophobic domains occur on the hydrate surface increases with the increased carbonate concentration and this trend is less dependent on the order of addition of these two species. This concentration is 0.17 mM at carbonate concentrations less than 2 μM and it shifts to 3.47 mM at carbonate concentrations higher than 2.5 μM. Thus, using carbonate with its concentration higher than 2.5 μM would be enough to displace the hydrophobic domains formed by SDS up to the solubility limit.  相似文献

Clathrate hydrates are of great importance in many aspects. However, hydrate formation and dissociation mechanisms, essential to all hydrate applications, are still not well understood due to the limitations of experimental techniques capable of providing dynamic and structural information on a molecular level. NMR has been shown to be a powerful tool to noninvasively measure molecular level dynamic information. In this work, we measured nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spin lattice relaxation times (T1's) of tetrahydrofuran (THF) in liquid deuterium oxide (D2O) during THF hydrate formation and dissociation. At the same time, we also used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to monitor hydrate formation and dissociation patterns. The results showed that solid hydrate significantly influences coexisting fluid structure. Molecular evidence of residual structure was identified. Hydrate formation and dissociation mechanisms were proposed based on the NMR/MRI observations.  相似文献
