We develop general results on centroids of Lie algebras and apply them to determine the centroid of extended affine Lie algebras, loop-like and Kac-Moody Lie algebras, and Lie algebras graded by finite root systems.

Vertex operator algebras and representations of affine Lie algebras

We announce the construction of an explicit basis for all integrable highest weight modules over the Lie algebra A ₁ ⁽¹⁾. The construction uses representations of vertex operator algebras and leads to combinatorial identities of Rogers-Ramanujan-type.     

Modules for double affine Lie algebras

Imaginary Verma modules, parabolic imaginary Verma modules,and Verma modules at level zero for double affine Lie algebras are constructed using three different triangular decompositions. Their relations are investigated,and several results are generalized from the affine Lie algebras. In particular,imaginary highest weight modules, integrable modules, and irreducibility criterion are also studied.

Certain categories of modules for twisted affine Lie algebras

In this paper, using generating functions, we study two categories ? and ? of modules for twisted affine Lie algebras g^[σ], which were firstly introduced and studied for untwisted affine Lie algebras by H. -S. Li [Math Z, 2004, 248: 635-664]. We classify integrable irreducible g^[σ]-modules in categories ? and ?, where ? is proved to contain the well-known evaluation modules and ? to unify highest weight modules, evaluation modules and their tensor product modules. We determine also the isomorphism classes of those irreducible modules.     

Vertex operator algebras associated to modified regular representations of affine Lie algebras

Let G be a simply-connected complex Lie group with simple Lie algebra g and let be its affine Lie algebra. We use intertwining operators and Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations to construct a family of N-graded vertex operator algebras (VOAs) associated to g. These vertex operator algebras contain the algebra of regular functions on G as the conformal weight 0 subspaces and are -modules of dual levels in the sense that , where h^∨ is the dual Coxeter number of g. This family of VOAs was previously studied by Arkhipov-Gaitsgory and Gorbounov-Malikov-Schechtman from different points of view. We show that when k is irrational, the vertex envelope of the vertex algebroid associated to G and the level k is isomorphic to the vertex operator algebra we constructed above. The case of rational levels is also discussed.     

Annihilating fields of standard modules for affine Lie algebras

Given an affine Kac-Moody Lie algebra of arbitrary type, we determine certain minimal sets of annihilating fields of standard -modules. We then use these sets in order to obtain a characterization of standard -modules in terms of irreducible loop -modules, which proves to be a useful tool for combinatorial constructions of bases for standard -modules. On certain categories of modules for affine Lie algebras

In this paper, we exploit basic formal variable techniques to study certain categories of modules for an (untwisted) affine Lie algebra , motivated by Chari-Pressleys work on certain integrable modules. We define and study two categories and of -modules using generating functions, where is proved to contain the well known evaluation modules and to unify highest weight modules, evaluation modules and their tensor product modules. We classify integrable irreducible -modules in categories and and we determine the isomorphism classes of those irreducible modules. Finally we prove a result that relates fusion rules in the context of vertex operator algebras with integrable irreducible modules of Chari-Pressley.in final form: 12 November 2003Partially supported by a NSA grant and a grant from Rutgers Research Council.     

Graded level zero integrable representations of affine Lie algebras

We study the structure of the category of integrable level zero representations with finite dimensional weight spaces of affine Lie algebras. We show that this category possesses a weaker version of the finite length property, namely that an indecomposable object has finitely many simple constituents which are non-trivial as modules over the corresponding loop algebra. Moreover, any object in this category is a direct sum of indecomposables only finitely many of which are non-trivial. We obtain a parametrization of blocks in this category.
