We consider a reductive dual pair in the stable range with the smaller member and of Hermitian symmetric type. We study the theta lifting of nilpotent -orbits, where is a maximal compact subgroup of and we describe the precise -module structure of the regular function ring of the closure of the lifted nilpotent orbit of the symmetric pair . As an application, we prove sphericality and normality of the closure of certain nilpotent -orbits obtained in this way. We also give integral formulas for their degrees.

In the present paper orbits of isotropy subgroups in Riemannian symmetric spaces are discussed. Principal orbits of an isotropy subgroup are isoparametric in the sense of Palais and Terng (seeCritical Point Theory and Submanifold Geometry, Springer-Verlag, Berlin, 1988). We show that excepting some special cases, the shape operator with respect to the radial unit vector field determines a totally geodesic foliation on a given principal orbit. Furthermore, we prove that the shape operators and the curvature endomorphisms with respect to the normal vectors commute on these isoparametric submanifolds.  相似文献

Roger W. Richardson proved that any parabolic subgroup of a complex semisimple Lie group admits an open dense orbit in the nilradical of its corresponding parabolic subalgebra. In the case of complex symmetric spaces we show that there exist some large classes of parabolic subgroups for which the analogous statement which fails in general, is true. Our main contribution is the extension of a theorem of Peter E. Trapa (in 2005) to real semisimple exceptional Lie groups.

Let ${\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{g}^{\bar 0}\oplus \mathfrak{g}^{\bar 1}}$ be a ${\mathbb{Z}_2}$ -graded Lie algebra. We study the posets of abelian subalgebras of ${\mathfrak{g}^{\bar 1}}$ which are stable w.r.t. a Borel subalgebra of ${\mathfrak{g}^{\bar 0}}$ . In particular, we find a natural parametrization of maximal elements and dimension formulas for them. We recover as special cases several results of Kostant, Panyushev, and Suter.  相似文献

In this paper, we give the classification of some special types of weakly symmetric Finsler spaces. We first present a general principle to classify weakly symmetric Finsler spaces and also give a method to figure out the Berwald spaces among the class of weakly symmetric Finsler spaces. Then we give an explicit classification of weakly symmetric Finsler spaces with reductive isometric groups as well as the left invariant weakly symmetric Finsler metrics on nilpotent Lie groups of the Heisenberg type. As an application, we obtain a large number of high-dimensional examples of reversible Finsler spaces which are non-Berwaldian and with vanishing S-curvature, a kind of spaces which are sought after in an open problem of Z. In this paper, firstly we calculate Picard groups of a nilpotent orbit 𝒪 in a classical complex simple Lie algebra and discuss the properties of being ℚ-factorial and factorial for the normalization 𝒪tilde; of the closure of 𝒪. Then we consider the problem of symplectic resolutions for 𝒪tilde;. Our main theorem says that for any nilpotent orbit 𝒪 in a semi-simple complex Lie algebra, equipped with the Kostant-Kirillov symplectic form ω, if for a resolution π:Z𝒪tilde;, the 2-form π*(ω) defined on π−1(𝒪) extends to a symplectic 2-form on Z, then Z is isomorphic to the cotangent bundle T *(G/P) of a projective homogeneous space, and π is the collapsing of the zero section. It proves a conjecture of Cho-Miyaoka-Shepherd-Barron in this special case. Using this theorem, we determine all varieties 𝒪tilde; which admit such a resolution. We prove that the local intersection cohomology of nilpotent orbit closures of cyclic quivers is trivial when the two orbits involved correspond to partitions with at most two rows. This gives a geometric proof of a result of Graham and Lehrer, which states that standard modules of the affine Hecke algebra of GLd corresponding to nilpotents with at most two Jordan blocks are multiplicity-free. A contact structure on a complex manifold M is a corank 1 subbundle F of TM such that the bilinear form on F with values in the quotient line bundle L = TM/F deduced from the Lie bracket of vector fields is everywhere non-degenerate. In this paper we consider the case where M is a Fano manifold; this implies that L is ample.?If is a simple Lie algebra, the unique closed orbit in (for the adjoint action) is a Fano contact manifold; it is conjectured that every Fano contact manifold is obtained in this way. A positive answer would imply an analogous result for compact quaternion-Kahler manifolds with positive scalar curvature, a longstanding question in Riemannian geometry.?In this paper we solve the conjecture under the additional assumptions that the group of contact automorphisms of M is reductive, and that the image of the rational map M P(H 0(M, L)*) sociated to L has maximum dimension. The proof relies on the properties of the nilpotent orbits in a semi-simple Lie algebra, in particular on the work of R. Brylinski and B. Kostant. Received: July 28, 1997  相似文献

In general, a nilpotent orbit closure in a complex simple Lie algebra g, does not have a crepant resolution. But, it always has a Q-factorial terminalization by the minimal model program. According to B. Fu, a nilpotent orbit closure has a crepant resolution only when it is a Richardson orbit, and the resolution is obtained as a Springer map for it. In this paper, we shall generalize this result to Q-factorial terminalizations when g is classical. Here, the induced orbits play an important role instead of Richardson orbits.  相似文献

It is known [M4] that K-orbits S and G-orbits S' on a complex flag manifold are in one-to-one correspondence by the condition that S ∩ S' is nonempty and compact. It is possible to replace K by some conjugate xKx−1 so that the correspondence is preserved. We investigate the sets C(S) of such x for various orbits S and their relations with each other. We prove that for classical groups the intersection C = ∩S C(S) equals D0Z where D0 = D0/K is the universal domain in G/K introduced in [AG] and Z is the center of G. As a corollary we prove that D0 is Stein for classical groups. Moreover we conjecture that C(S)0 = D0 for generic S where C(S)0 is the connected component of C(S) containing the identity.  相似文献
