We call T C B(H) consistent in Fredholm and index (briefly a CFI operator) if for each B ∈ B(H), TB and BT are Fredholm together and the same index of B, or not Fredholm together. Using a new spectrum defined in view of the CFI operator, we give the equivalence of Weyl's theorem and property (ω) for T and its conjugate operator T^*. We know that an operator T acting on a Banach space satisfying generalized Weyl's theorem also satisfies Weyl's theorem. Conversely we show that if all isolated eigenvalues of T are poles of its resolvent and if T satisfies Weyl's theorem, then it also satisfies generalized Weyl's theorem. We give also a sinlilar result for the equivalence of a-Weyl's theorem and generalized a-Weyl's theorem. Using these results, we study the case of polaroid operators, and in particular paranormal operators.  相似文献

Let T be a Banach space operator, E(T) be the set of all isolated eigenvalues of T and π(T) be the set of all poles of T. In this work, we show that Browder's theorem for T is equivalent to the localized single-valued extension property at all complex numbers λ in the complement of the Weyl spectrum of T, and we give some characterization of Weyl's theorem for operator satisfying E(T) = π(T). In this note we study the property (ω), a variant of Weyl's theorem introduced by Rakocevic, by means of the new spectrum. We establish for a bounded linear operator defined on a Banach space a necessary and sufficient condition for which both property (ω) and approximate Weyl's theorem hold. As a consequence of the main result, we study the property (ω) and approximate Weyl's theorem for a class of operators which we call the λ-weak-H(p) operators.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove that the 2D Navier-Stokes equations possess a global attractor in Hk(Ω,R2) for any k ≥ 1, which attracts any bounded set of Hk(Ω,R2) in the H^k-norm. The result is established by means of an iteration technique and regularity estimates for the linear semigroup of operator, together with a classical existence theorem of global attractor. This extends Ma, Wang and Zhong's conclusion.  相似文献

We obtain an estimate of the upper bound for Kolmogorov's ε-entropy for the bounded sets with small "tail" in discrete spaces, then we present a sufficient condition for the existence of a global attractor for dissipative lattice systems in a reflexive Banach discrete space and establish an upper bound of Kolmogorov's ε-entropy of the global attractor for lattice systems.  相似文献

When A ∈ B(H) and B ∈ B(K) are given, we denote by Mc an operator acting on the Hilbert space HΘ K of the form Me = ( A0 CB). In this paper, first we give the necessary and sufficient condition for Mc to be an upper semi-Fredholm (lower semi-Fredholm, or Fredholm) operator for some C ∈B(K,H). In addition, let σSF+(A) = {λ ∈ C : A-λI is not an upper semi-Fredholm operator} bc the upper semi-Fredholm spectrum of A ∈ B(H) and let σrsF- (A) = {λ∈ C : A-λI is not a lower semi-Fredholm operator} be the lower semi Fredholm spectrum of A. We show that the passage from σSF±(A) U σSF±(B) to σSF±(Mc) is accomplished by removing certain open subsets of σSF-(A) ∩σSF+ (B) from the former, that is, there is an equality σSF±(A) ∪σSF± (B) = σSF± (Mc) ∪& where L is the union of certain of the holes in σSF±(Mc) which ilappen to be subsets of σSF- (A) A σSF+ (B). Weyl's theorem and Browder's theorem are liable to fail for 2 × 2 operator matrices. In this paper, we also explore how Weyl's theorem, Browder's theorem, a-Weyl's theorem and a-Browder's theorem survive for 2 × 2 upper triangular operator matrices on the Hilbert space.  相似文献

This article describes a local error estimator for Glimm's scheme for hyperbolic systems of conservation laws and uses it to replace the usual random choice in Glimm's scheme by an optimal choice. As a by-product of the local error estimator, the procedure provides a global error estimator that is shown numerically to be a very accurate estimate of the error in L1 (R) for all times. Although there is partial mathematical evidence for the error estimator proposed, at this stage the error estimator must be considered ad- hoc. Nonetheless, the error estimator is simple to compute, relatively inexpensive, without adjustable parameters and at least as accurate as other existing error estimators. Numerical experiments in 1-D for Burgers' equation and for Euler's system are performed to measure the asymptotic accuracy of the resulting scheme and of the error estimator.  相似文献

This paper proves a theorem on the decay rate of the oscillatory integral operator with a degenerate C^∞ phase function, thus improving a classical theorem of HSrmander. The proof invokes two new methods to resolve the singularity of such kind of operators: a delicate method to decompose the operator and balance the L^2 norm estimates; and a method for resolution of singularity of the convolution type. The operator is decomposed into four major pieces instead of infinite dyadic pieces, which reveals that Cotlar's Lemma is not essential for the L^2 estimate of the operator. In the end the conclusion is further improved from the degenerate C^∞ phase function to the degenerate C^4 phase function.  相似文献

In this paper, a positive operator is given. It is shown that the product of this positive operator and the convolution operator is a trace class Hilbert-Schmidt integral operator and has nonnegative eigenvalues. A formula is given for the trace of this product operator. It seems that this product operator is the closest trace class integral operator which has nonnegative eigenvalues and is related to the Weil distribution in the context of Connes’ program for the Riemann hypothesis. A relation is given between the trace of the product operator and the Weil distribution.

A system of ordinary differential equations of mixed order on an interval (0, r0) is considered, where some coefficients are singular at 0. Special cases have been dealt with by Kako , where the essential spectrum of an operator associated with a linearized MHD model was calculated, and more recently by Hardt , Mennicken and Naboko . In both papers this operator is a selfadjoint extension of an operator on sufficiently smooth functions. The approach in the present paper is different in that a suitable operator associated with the given system of ordinary differential equations is explicitly defined as the closure of an operator defined on sufficiently smooth functions. This closed operator can be written as a sum of a selfadjoint operator and a bounded operator. It is shown that its essential spectrum is a nonempty compact subset of ℂ, and formulas for the calculation of the essential spectrum in terms of the coefficients are given.  相似文献

Cauchy singular integral operators are characterized as operators in a weighted L2-space. The integral operator arises from a singular integral equation with variable coefficients. An appropriate weight function associated with the singular integral operator is constructed, and the set of polynomials orthogonal with respect to this weight function is defined. The action of the operator on polynomial sets is studied, and the definition of the operator is extended to a weighted L2-space. In this space, the operator is shown to be bounded, and, in some cases, isometric. Formulas are developed for the composition of the singular integral operator and its one sided inverse.  相似文献

Necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability of the polynomial operator interpolation problem in an arbitrary vector space are obtained (for the existence of a Hermite-type operator polynomial, conditions are obtained in a Hilbert space). Interpolational operator formulas describing the whole set of interpolants in these spaces as well as a subset of those polynomials preserving operator polynomials of the corresponding degree are constructed. In the metric of a measure space of operators, an accuracy estimate is obtained and a theorem on the convergence of interpolational operator processes is proved for polynomial operators. Applications of the operator interpolation to the solution of some problems are described. Bibliography: 134 titles. Given a separable, infinite dimensional Hilbert space, it was recently shown by the authors that there is a path of chaotic operators, which is dense in the operator algebra with the strong operator topology, and along which every operator has the exact same dense Gδ set of hypercyclic vectors. In the present work, we show that the conjugate set of any hypercyclic operator on a separable, infinite dimensional Banach space always contains a path of operators which is dense with the strong operator topology, and yet the set of common hypercyclic vectors for the entire path is a dense Gδ set. As a corollary, the hypercyclic operators on such a Banach space form a connected subset of the operator algebra with the strong operator topology.  相似文献

We study properties of bounded sets in Banach spaces, connected with the concept of equimeasurability introduced by A. Grothendieck. We introduce corresponding ideals of operators and find characterizations of them in terms of continuity of operators in certain topologies. The following result (Corollary 9) follows from the basic theorems: Let T be a continuous linear operator from a Banach space X to a Banach space Y. The following assertions are equivalent:
  1. T is an operator of type RN;
  2. for any Banach space Z, for any number p, p > 0, and any p-absolutely summing operator U:Z → X the operator TU is approximately p-Radonifying;
  3. for any Banach space Z and any absolutely summing operator U:Z → X the operator TU is approximately 1-Radonifying.

The notions of the L-convolution operator and the ?-Wiener–Hopf operator are introduced by replacing the Fourier transform in the definition of the convolution operator by a spectral transformation of the self-adjoint Sturm–Liouville operator on the axis ?. In the case of the zero potential, the introduced operators coincide with the convolution operator and theWiener–Hopf integral operator, respectively. A connection between the ?-Wiener–Hopf operator and singular integral operators is revealed. In the case of a piecewise continuous symbol, a criterion for the Fredholm property and a formula for the index of the ?-Wiener–Hopf operator in terms of the symbol and the elements of the scattering matrix of the operator ? are obtained.  相似文献
