An Engel condition with derivation for left ideals   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
We generalize a number of results in the literature by proving the following theorem: Let be a semiprime ring, a nonzero derivation of , a nonzero left ideal of , and let . If for some positive integers , and all , the identity holds, then either or else the ideal of generated by and is in the center of . In particular, when is a prime ring, is commutative.

Let R be a prime ring and set [x, y]1 = [x, y] = xyyx for ${x,y\in R}$ and inductively [x, y] k = [[x, y] k-1, y] for k > 1. We apply the theory of generalized polynomial identities with automorphisms and skew derivations to obtain the following result: If δ is a nonzero σ-derivation of R and L is a noncommutative Lie ideal of R so that [δ(x), x] k  = 0 for all ${x \in L}$ , where k is a fixed positive integer, then charR = 2 and ${R\subseteq M_{2}(F)}$ for some field F. This result generalizes the case of derivations by Lanski and also the case of automorphisms by Mayne.  相似文献

We apply the theory of generalized polynomial identities with automorphisms and skew derivations to prove the following theorem: Let A be a prime ring with the extended centroid C and with two-sided Martindale quotient ring Q, R a nonzero right ideal of A and \(\delta \) a nonzero \(\sigma \)-derivation of A, where \(\sigma \) is an epimorphism of A. For \(x,y\in A\), we set \([x,y] = xy - yx\). If \([[\ldots [[\delta (x^{n_0}),x^{n_1}],x^{n_{2}}],\ldots ],x^{n_k}]=0\) for all \(x\in R\), where \(n_{0},n_{1},\ldots ,n_{k}\) are fixed positive integers, then one of the following conditions holds: (1) A is commutative; (2) \(C\cong GF(2)\), the Galois field of two elements; (3) there exist \(b\in Q\) and \(\lambda \in C\) such that \(\delta (x)=\sigma (x)b-bx\) for all \(x\in A\), \((b-\lambda )R=0\) and \(\sigma (R)=0\). The analogous result for left ideals is also obtained. Our theorems are natural generalizations of the well-known results for derivations obtained by Lanski (Proc Am Math Soc 125:339–345, 1997) and Lee (Can Math Bull 38:445–449, 1995).  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce the concept of the independence graph of a directed 2-complex. We show that the class of diagram groups is closed under graph products over independence graphs of rooted 2-trees. This allows us to show that a diagram group containing all countable diagram groups is a semi-direct product of a partially commutative group and R. Thompson's group F. As a result, we prove that all diagram groups are totally orderable.  相似文献

Engel groups II
We study m-dimensional real submanifolds M with (m − 1)-dimensional maximal holomorphic tangent subspace in complex projective space. On these manifolds there exists an almost contact structure F which is naturally induced from the ambient space and in this paper we study the condition h(FX, Y) − h(X, FY) = g(FX, Y)η, ηT (M), on the almost contact structure F and on the second fundamental form h of these submanifolds and we characterize certain model spaces in complex projective space.  相似文献

Engel groups I
In this series of papers we study Engel groups through their presentation, using Small Cancellation Theory. In the present paper we describe the consequences of a single Engel relator.  相似文献

An Engel l-group generating a proper normal-valued l-variety is shown to be o-approximable. It is also established that for every proper normal-valued l-varietyF, the class (F) of Engel l-groups from F is a torsion class.Translated fromAlgebra i Logika, Vol. 34, No. 4, pp. 398–404, July-August, 1995.  相似文献

A group G is said to be in Ek*E_k^* (k a positive integer), if every infinite subset of G contains a pair of elements that generate a k-Engel group.¶It is shown that a finitely generated locally graded group G in Ek*E_k^* is a finite-by- (k-Engel) group, in particular a finite extension of a k-Engel group.  相似文献

Engel groups III
Let F denote a free group. An n-Engel word of F is an iterated commutator of the form [A, nB], where (A,B) is a pair of elements of F, which we here assume to generate a non-cyclic subgroup of F. This is the second of a series of three papers that examine some of the properties of a group defined by a suitable set of relators of the form [A i , nB i ], i = 1, 2, ...,m (where n is fixed). In the present paper, the techniques of [1] are generalised in a way that permits the application of the conclusions of [1] concerning the nature of the consequences of a single Engel relator to the case of a finite number of n-Engel relators, subject only to some mild hypotheses on the lengths of the relators and the value of n.  相似文献

An Engel condition with generalized derivations on multilinear polynomials   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
Let R be a prime ring with extended centroid C, g a nonzero generalized derivation of R, f (x 1,..., x n) a multilinear polynomial over C, I a nonzero right ideal of R. If [g(f(r 1,..., r n)), f(r 1,..., r n)] = 0, for all r 1, ..., r nI, then either g(x) = ax, with (a − γ)I = 0 and a suitable γ ∈ C or there exists an idempotent element esoc(RC) such that IC = eRC and one of the following holds:
(i)  f(x 1,..., x n) is central valued in eRCe
(ii)  g(x) = cx + xb, where (c+b+α)e = 0, for α ∈ C, and f (x 1,..., x n)2 is central valued in eRCe
(iii)  char(R) = 2 and s 4(x 1, x 2, x 3, x 4) is an identity for eRCe.
